Does anyone find it funny that DM is chasing signing after signing and not doing to well? Last day of the transfer window Davey boy. Even with unlimited funds.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Decided too early mate. He still has 40 days.

If we have lost out on honda and not enough money for mccarthy, who are we going to sign?!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hondas opted to go and spend half a season mainly on the AC Milan bench, so more fool him. I think We have enough money for McCarthy, but Wigan are overly inflating his price. He should be around £8M max, but Coyle and Whelan are the new Dick Dastardly and Muttley of the transfer window. I reckon Bobby and Bill should go all out bonkers and try to buy Romelu Lukaku, if they're going to splash out big on a player.

Gary Caldwell

Agree0 Disagree0

May be no need. Because we have Gibbo, Ossie and Felli.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sites - that's exactly why we need a box to box busy guy like McCarthy

Ossie strolls about and can't tackle

Gibbo injury prone

Felli transfer prone

Heard that Micah Richards is unsure about his future at City and is considering a move away. Not going to happen, but would anyone else be happy if we did pursue this? Mainly used as a right back, but I see him as the perfect heir to Distin.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unrealistic but a fantastic player when needed he can play CB as he can play there ( not bad at CB) PKBLUE

Agree0 Disagree0

If we play 3 at the back he's perfect can play RWB and CB could probably even play DM

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats wrong with Coleman and Stones/ hibbert

Agree0 Disagree0

There's nothing wrong with Coleman, Stones and Hibbert. That's why I said I see him as the heir to Distin. I think he is better suited at being a Centre back.

Everton preparing bid for Scott Sinclair according to the daily star. IMO he would be a great signing. Not everybody's cup of tea tho

Ed, what happened to the 'last updated' timestamp? It seems to be missing from the site all of a sudden. Not going to go off on a self destructive bender over it (I have plenty of other reasons for that), but it was actually kind of handy for checking at a glance if the site had been added to. Any chance we could have it back, please?

{Ed033's Note - It's there (Page last updated:) but it's hidden in red text. I'll change it to blue text and you'll be able to see it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ah thanks Ed. Didn't notice it there. Don't change your Feng shui because of me, though. But red may not have been the most welcome choice for some of our more extreme contributors on this site anyway.

Thought I would let you know what i've found out. Reports are Hamburg have agreed a deal to sign Jelavic for €8million (roughly £6.8million), I like Jelavic and I think he could strive under RM, but things happen. I reckon if these reports are true that we will attempt to sign Bent with the money

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oliver Kreuzer: "If we manage that [to sell two or three players] we could work out if a loan or a payment in instalments would be possible. "
Where does it say they're going to pay £6.8m?

Rumour has it that a main target is Ever Banega. Is he the 'big signing' we have heard whispers of? He may be a good footballer, but he's a bit of a liability off the pitch. He's rowed with several managers over very little, had terrible luck with cars, including torching a top of the line Ferrari and running himself over with his own car at a petrol station. And don't get me started on the sex tapes. We've already tried to get this player once (2010) on loan, but he ummed and ahhed and backed out at the last minute. He was described as 'too weird for the EPL' by his own manager at the time. Do we really want this kind of bat s#*t crazy player at our club? I don't really care as long as he gets goals, but I'd rather have Balotelli. At least he gave out free money to random strangers at Christmas. Anyone think Banega would be a good fit?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I thought the reason that he didn't come to us was to do with problems getting a visa. ?
But yeah, I'd have him in a heartbeat.

Murf

Agree0 Disagree0

The big signing is already here mate. Kid from barca.

Agree0 Disagree0

Murf is right on the visa point, would be a brilliant signing imo, as long as the fee wasn't too excessive

Agree0 Disagree0

Lad from Barca is not a signing he will never be an everton player

Kreuzer spoke a bout "a loan or deal in instalments" (Jelavic). No way would I agree to that, imo Jelavic>Kone and we need depth anyway.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Instalments that makes me laugh in transfers that's why some clubs go to the wall if you can't afford the transfer fee then you can't have the player simples bit like normal people that buy things with massive high interest that still buy it that's how you get in debt if you can't afford to buy it out right then basically it's telling you can't afford the product

Agree0 Disagree0

To the 2nd poster you are aware that all of the incoming deals we do are paid in installments right? If all clubs went by your rules then we would be well and truly in the shi* as nobody would ever sell to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

All transfers are done the same way. Half down followed by 12 monthly instalments. The poorer selling clubs then discount the 12 month rental stream so they can get a. Bit more up front

Some press are saying that Hamburg are interested in Jela because he is 'surplus to requirements' at Everton. Since when have Everton been content that they have enough goal scorers?! Personally, I'd keep Jelavic and pick him ahead of Kone and Anichebe, much as I rate both of them in their own way. If Jela can just get his confidence back (which you just know he would if he signed for another club) then he'll start banging them in again like he did when he first arrived. Come on Jellyman, have your fresh start under Martinez, not in Germany. You'll just get fat on all that Bratwurst.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Give Jelavic a chance under Martinez even with kone I still think we're short on goals utd won the league last year because they scored lots of goals kone could get 15 and I think Jelavic could as well so of players like Mirralas could get double figures then were in business with others chipping in as well like fellani baines will provide a few and seeing how the new Spanish kid has been given the no 10 shirt he should play a major role can see him getting on score sheet as well, keep the defence solid and we will be in the hunt for top 4

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd sell him I would as I don't think he's the type of striker we need now. He's nowhere near mobile enough to play in the system that Martinez likes and he has awful techniche and can't score and if he goes on to have another season like the last one then he will be practically worthless, so get rid now I say and bring in a more mobile striker who knows where the goal is.

Agree0 Disagree0

to be fair I will be quite gutted if jelavic goes because he has proven that he can score in the premier league. personally I would give him one more season and if he has another poor season, then i'd let him go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Once he's a definite proven flop you mean and we get nothing for him?

just a little bit of fun but let's see who is closer to picking robbie's first match vs norwich based on the players we have now at the club. see who is closest
i'll go for

howard (although he seems to like joel I reckon he won't change to much to quickly)

coleman jags distin baines
(again nothing wrong with our back 4 so can't see him changing it too much)

deulofeu gibson fellaini pienar
mirillas
kone

(i think that rm is going to try and play mirillas more centrally. however I wouldn't be suprised if he put him back on the right wing and maybe played osman behind the striker, much similar to last season but maybe switch osman further forward than fellaini so fellaini can play in his prefered and in my opinion, his best postion

4-3-3
Howard (Joel will be number 1 within 2 years but not yet)

Coleman jags distin baines (not broke don't change it fullbacks providing width)

Felli gibbo piennar (Felli box to box gibbo setting tempo as deep lying playmaker piennar floating like Maloney did for Wigan)

Mirallas kone delefou (all quick all clinical and interchangeable)

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon he'll change the formation. For me it'd be

Howard
Jags Distin Alcaraz
Coleman Baines
Deulofeu Fellaini Pienaar
Mirallas Kone

Fellaini as a CDM and Coleman and Baines as Wingbacks

Given some of the transfer rumours and Bobby Marty's picks so far in the pre season I'll have a punt on

Robles
Coleman Jagielka Alcaraz Baines
Mirallas Gibson Fellaini Oviedo
Kone Deulefeu

Although I'm quite curious to see who'll be on the bench as our options there look to be stronger than they've been in a long time. Admittedly, I don't reckon Deulofeau will start and I'd have Jelavic up front, but I think he'll want to switch to Hamburg, based on the last season and his rep for jumping ship.

I agree with QB liverpool fan in peace

Looks like Jelavic going and we want a new striker. His agent offered his services to Hamburg according to Sky.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Jul 2013 09:59:21
Who would be jelavic's ideal replacement?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I love to watch Thiery Henry so I pick Loic Remy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kevin Gameiro from PSG would be a good shout. And if not for his high wages, I think Darren Bent could be good. I might have chosen Charlie Austin, but he's got a wonky shoulder, like Riggs in Lethal Weapon 2.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd have either bent, papiss cisse, defoe, jordan rhodes, lukaku, dempsey, javier hernandez. but all have a high price tag and stupid wages soo who knows we will have to wait and see.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bent? Cisse? Defoe? Dempsey?no no no!

Anyone who has looked in to Jelavics' past would have seen this coming, never stays at a club long term. Personally I think he is good not great and there are plenty of strikers out there of similar quality. Not surprised one bit if he goes and he forceses it, has done all through his career. Hamburg is not exactly a step up but I'm sure he won't say no to the signing on fee.

Svenny

Believable0 Unbelievable0

His frequent moves isn't through a lack of loyalty, it because of better opportunities. If you played for zulte waregem, would you turn down rapid Vienna? He stayed for a few years and was given the opprtunity to join Rangers, another move you wouldn't turn down. They fell apart and everyone jumped ship, he just got off first, coming to us, another step up. Now he has the chance to join hamburg, a big German club, which you would choose over our bench. {Ed007's Note - He went on strike and refused to play at Rapid Vienna to help get a move to Rangers, he then went on strike there as well to get a move to Liverpool which never materialised even though him and his father were all over the press saying the deal was nearly done. He then point blank refused to play another game for Rangers and he was sold at the last minute to Everton. I told you all on the day he signed for you he would be stay for 18 months to two years and then be looking to move on. I would bet that the Hamburg link getting in the press came from Jelavic himself or his father.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed that's what I meant by looking in to his past and the wouldn't say no to the signing on fee. Never really been "sold" always forced the move himself.

Svenny {Ed007's Note - I totally agree with you Svenny, it was AB I was speaking to. Everton as a club deserve better and without trying to pick an argument with anyone I would put my neck on the line and say he probably never wanted the move to Everton in the first place, that is why the deal was rushed through so late in the window, nobody else came in for him.
I really don't understand the Everton fans that want him to stay, he is a very average player and his goal-scoring record shows how average he actually is. He has only once in his career scored more than 20 goals a season and that was about 4 years ago at Rapid Vienna, he is hardly prolific.}

Agree0 Disagree0

When he arrived he relly looked the business. But last season he was tripping over his own bootlaces. I thought Moyes was absolutely right to pick Victor Anichebe ahead of him. I would say on last seasons form that Jelavic is 3rd choice. Unless he looks so good in training or comes on as a sub and looks better than last season then even Vellios has a chance of getting ahead of him in the pecking order.

I agree mate, he might flourish under RM, needs to give it at least until Xmas, then again RM may not want the guy

Degsy

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed he shattered there confidence and made them do other jobs for the team so that they didn't end up getting the goals required.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't remember Beattie having a good game never mind a good season

Agree0 Disagree0

There is some rubbish on this site. Asking your centre forward to close down full backs and defenders is a pre requisite these days. Do you guys honestly think SAF or Wenger say to their forwards, "go out and have a stroll. Score a goal if you can but don't waste your energy by running around too much. I don't want to knock your confidence". Of course Moyes asks his players to "run the channels". So does every Premier manager and if you think Martinez will be any different, you need to go to the Doctors.
