Mog, there's a lot of stuff on here that people shouldn't take any notice of.

Most do think/ know we are on the right track and I think the Koeman out camp is so small it can't even fill a family sized tent. Most of the people here are realistic and know it's a long road ahead.

But I do have to disagree with you about Ross, I think he has been under performing for years and people seem blinkered with him because he's local and English. English players get so over hyped. He's had ample time to prove he is good player and just hasn't. He doesn't score enough, get up the field and support Rom enough or play those crucial final passes. Most of the time he has barely any impact on the game and he has arguably the most important attacking position. We need someone better in that position if we are to progress, I personally think his replacement is our number 1 priority.

The problem with Ross Barkley is very simple. He has been out of sorts and if Everton Football Club had done their transfers properly over the last 3 years, then there would have been another creative midfielder on our books (or 2) who could have taken his place whilst he was rested/ dropped. However, we did not buy players well so when Barkley was "lost" in form, he still played and fans got on his back. fill the rest in yourselves.

With our new setup (albeit with a couple on the board from the old guard that maybe have not learned from past mistakes yet) , I wonder how much messing up we will do in this Window.

Just thought i'd put this out there - with the likelihood RK is going to axe a number of players - let's say we can bring in 5 realistic targets - which 5 would you buy and why?

Personal preffences

1 schneidetlein. prem proven and was great for ronny at Southampton.

2 Michael Keane . good young centre back that's only honing to get better. Only head of van dijk due reported 40m asking price for van dijk.

3 ever banega . look at europa final last year, passed Liverpool apart. Creative and gets stuck in

4 . Kevin gameiro. great striker, fast, good movement great passers-by

5 - coretin tolisso. skilful centre mid that can pick a pass. Only young as well so could build a team around him.

No team will allow a good keeper to leave in Jan, so that and a left back (as competition for bsines) would be 1st signings in january after that look at wide attackers.

I think that due to availability Schneiderlin should be our first target.

I would have Depay but only on loan as it's too big a risk for £20m+.

I would like to see Troy Deeney (he would be excellent either up front with Lukaku or with Koeman's pressing as a lone striker as he is hardworking and a bit of an all rounder) .

As for a GK, I would still put a cheeky bid in for Begovic, as he is second fiddle at Chelsea and would be available for a reasonable price. I would prefer Butland but he would be a bit unrealistic as they would be unwilling to sell and the price would be huge.

I would still like Van Dijk as well.

My list is a little unrealistic as I can't see us spending £100m in one window!

{Ed002's Note - Spartak Moscow, Marseille, Milan, Roma and Wolfsburg, in addition to Everton, have a declared interest in Depay. I would not expect a goalkeeper in January.}

Ed002 is right on the goalkeeper front, I would also urge a little bit of a step back on carried away with all transfers to be honest. The only players normally available in January are (sorry but true) cast offs or surplus to requirements. Some of those mentioned are young up and coming, they will demand high wages and their Clubs will add a couple of mill onto the price, that is always supposing they are willing to let them go.

Its the realistic thing that makes it difficult. I would like
Depay on loan only.
Schneiderlin as he has performed well in the PL already.
Moussa Dembele its a bit of a risk but any striker is, if are not already in the PL.
Mousa Dembele if we can get him from spurs, another box to box but IMO better than McCarthy and Mo.

If we can't get Depay on loan then i'd try to get Rashford instead.

I expect RK and SW have completely different targets though.

I don’t want any players on loan. I want quality committed players. Depay is a very good player but just not utilised by United, so too Sneiderlin.

As for others, I don’t know. I’d be surprised if there are any from what are being mentioned in the press at the moment and even more surprised if we got many at all in January. I’m braced for a busy summer rather than Jan and I expect additions early in the window.

It should be so much easier this summer with no international tournaments. Koeman will also have more than a couple of weeks with the players to get them used to systems and fitness. It took until mid-September due to the Euros to get his team fit never mind used to a system.

I'd be happy with schneiderlin, depay and lookman in January.
No point buying a defender in January, if one gets injured throw Holgate in and watch him shine.
Begovic, attacking mid and a striker in the summer, bring in Davies and Calvert Lewis if we get injuries.

I don't think there is any point talking about which 5 players we would like. It's a bit of a moot point. Realistically I think 2 ins (ideally both attacking) and 2 outs could happen, I'd also prefer the youngsters to get a run Holgate and I know Browning has recently come back from injury but I'd like to see him play more too.
