Whatever happened to the good old
Days when you picked the echo up, looked at the back page and said "ey look Everton have signed a new player" all this speculation is messing with my head now I feel like banning myself off the internet until September.

Totally agree. I'm as guilty as anyone looking online several times a day but I do think it's a change in culture that has made many blues impatient and frustrated.

I go on holiday on Thursday, bad planning as its over deadline day! The wife will be dumped for Jim White 😂.

Gutted Galloway has gone out on loan! In RK I trust but this lad is going to be quality!
Can play left or centre and didn't let us down when called on before! . COYB!

Totally agree with you but may be good for us in the long term. It's only a loan deal. Little concerned it may leave us short in that area though.

23 Aug 2016 08:22:26
RK has stated he has a future at Everton, this loan playing regular premier league football will do his development more good than playing under 23's and sitting on the bench.

Ok, I've had the large majority of a nice of bottle of red but I'm putting this out there. I think we're going to challenge for the prem within 3-6 years.
Say what you want, supporting the blues since my first match in 1989 and being Everton mad since the Wimbledon survival game in 94, I missed the glory days and have been waiting and waiting nut I just feel more excited than ever that something is really going to happen!
I lost my dad three years ago and he would always say I wish you'd seen them in the 80s. I think it's coming around pops. COYB!

Hope you're right Parky, we're long overdue some silverware. The premier league title would be nice but I think we'll be a work in progress for a few seasons at least. However, after Leicester last season, never say never.
The majority of a bottle of a nice bottle of red by 7.30? You weren't at the same funeral I was today were you?

ps there's a specialist wine shop in Kirby Lonsdale that stocks a rather excellent red called Everton. Shame they can't do a blue wine really.

Well Ghezzal has turned down our offer, good player but wrong side of 25 and his loss. Might be why Everton are apparently in talks with brahimi as they had a feeling that Ghezzal was a waste of time.
Ghezzal mate, enjoy obscurity you could of been a blue hero!

Ghezzal not coming to everton apparently. the rumour being that we could not offer European football. Looks like he's staying at lyon.

Ive said exactly the same on twitter, the divvie!

Agree0 Disagree1

22 Aug 2016 17:21:21
I honestly can't wait until the 1st September. So much nonsense has been spouted by professional journalists, by eager fans, internet trolls, I mean we all went mental when an ex very average welsh centre back wrote a tweet.
I have said it 3 times but will repeat, we got our two big signings this summer, Koeman and Walsh. Rome wasn't built in a day but lots of us felt we had a very strong squad last season and I think Koeman thinks so too.
Almost certainly a couple of signings will be made before deadline but let's just wait 9 days now and see who they are rather than jumping on any given murmur of something.
Koeman is class, that is easy to assess from pre season and his general work so far. Walsh has proven himself many times.
The league is crazy now. We could be brilliant this year and finish 9th. I expect City, Utd, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham, Liverpool, Everton, Borough and Stoke to have good seasons. The dam burst with Leicester last season and now the sky 4 is broken it really is anyone's. Personally think they will struggle this season but will probably be proved wrong.
Anyway the one reason I want the natter to stop is because the aggressive negativity some fans have to individual football players who may or may not join us. Then what? What if Hart is our keeper? You won't get behind him?
Let's just back who we have and who we end up getting, do our part and actually make some noise at Goodison, support them until the club gives us reason not to.

Rant over, sorry if most of it is viewed as nonsense just find us as fans really lacking recently. We want this, we don't want that, we demand the other. Let's just be fans and actually support yeah?

Fans will be fans Svenny! this game is full to the brim with passion and 'bragging rights wishes' as fans sometimes we think too much and come up with the wrong answers 🙄

Sometimes we get it correct and on the money, speaking of which it's this that creates all or at least most of the fuss or ''natter''

Lets go with it and enjoy the crazy hullabaloo mate 😵.

22 Aug 2016 20:53:05
Svenny, you are not the only one that isn't keen on the transfer window, I don't know why it doesn't close before the season starts it would be better for most if it did. I have faith in RK and SW if they actually want a player then they will try to get them. The only transfer rumours i pay any attention too is the update Ed002 provides he seems to be pretty knowledgeable about who our targets are and who we have scouted. Most of the other media stuff is drivel. Only a week left so if we sign someone I hope its a striker as we can pretty much cope in all other positions with who we have, up top we will probably struggle without Rom.

Been away for a couple of months without any means of what's been going on in the football world. (Chose to do this) . Have to say the changes being made to the club/ team have really impressed me. Love the harder attitude being shown, and the muscling up with the so called big boys. What I can't grasp is the attitude of some of the fans. This is what we have been waiting for for decades, so why the complaining? We have a new strong owner who isn't on tv shouting his mouth off aka West Ham. We have a manager straight from the top draw. Ok so we can't attract all the best players yet. But give it time. A new team, a new ground, new investment? Remember what Mr Cosner said. "Build it and they will come". Support your club and enjoy the ride, it's going to be a fantastic journey.

It sounds like RK likes Gueye and Barry as his first-choice midfield with Barkley (either in a three or ahead of them as a number ten) .
Davies is clearly being developed as a first-team player - while we have other youngsters like Ledson, Walsh; Williams (Joe not Ashley! ) and others coming through with promise. Not forgetting Grant who's on loan.
That leaves Besic (injured) , Cleverley, Gibson (usually injured! ) and McCarthy vying to be the midfield cover in the squad - and that's without us signing any others.
Who'd be surprised if they weren't all here at the end of the transfer window?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2016 15:06:49
Think McCathy might be part of the deal for Kone.

Agree3 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 15:14:55
I can easily imagine both McCarthy and Gibson moving out. We should get a decent fee for McCarthy - not so sure about Gibson's value.
Besic needs time to recover from his injury and then be given an opportunity to prove himself.
Ckeverley - whatever many people's opinions of him - could do a reasonable job for the squad.
Davies is on track to become a first-team regular.
Grant, Ledson, Walsh, Williams J., etc., will surely be given the chance to develop and prove themselves.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 15:15:52
That will be difficult I don't think McCarthy wants to join relegation battlers as Moyes has already eluded.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 15:15:57
JCW!00: what a great shout that is!

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 15:28:16
The only midfielder out of all them i'd be sad to see go is besic. That guy is an adopted blue thro and thro. The rest are easily replaceable.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 16:03:37
Anomblue: no player is EASILY replaceable imho. That's not to say there aren't better players out there, but rather that getting a transfer through proves notoriously difficult for the majority of clubs unless you have the income/ assets under FFP to afford big fees and pay huge wages AND can offer Champions League football AND (if there's a choice of clubs) you can offer the player and his family the chance to live in London. We're not there yet - but we have high hopes :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 16:26:05
Agree anom. If he can stay fit (remains to be seen) I think besic and gueye are a very good cm partnership.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 18:18:24
FFP doesn't come into it if your not playing European football does it? Ed 002.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes it does.}

22 Aug 2016 19:16:46
I think Koeman prefares Gibson to Besic and McCarthy. I've got a feeling McCarthy is gone if he can find another Gana type player.

I do think though another striker is a priority along with a RB. We have got a lot of defensive type players and I want to see stronger and more attacking players in that midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 22:55:43
Moyes is doing what he did here - lowering expectations. Tell the fans that they will be battling relegation and anything better than that, he's a hero. Saying that though, they probably will be down in the mire for most of the season! McCarthy would be a good move for them. I don't see where he will fit in with us somehow.

Anybody heard if ghezzal has signed?

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 13:00:20
Kone can play anywhere along the front-line, and is equally competent at playing through the middle in the lone striker role as he is playing out wide left or right as part of a front three.

He is a fantastic dribbler and his ability to run at speed with the ball close to feet gives his side the potential to counter-attack with pace, which is a useful tool in England's second tier.

This is taken from a report linking Kone with Wolves. is it just me who thinks Arouna wrote this himself?
I certainly ain't seen them attributes.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2016 13:35:48
he has pace in fifa may be that's where they taken report from.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 13:55:59
It must have been written by the same guy who got us to spend big money on Niasse. At least with Koné, we're trying to get some money in - even if it's just a loan fee and getting his wages off the books.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 14:37:58
''''He is a fantastic dribbler and his ability to run at speed with the ball close to feet gives his side the potential to counter-attack with pace, which is a useful tool in England's second tier. ''''

If Galloway has a season-long loan at WBA in the PL under Pulis, that'd be a good phase of his development in my humble opinion.
Whatever fans and posters might think of Pulis's football style, he knows how to set up teams to defend with strength, discipline and commitment.
I expect Galloway to return to Everton with a year's solid PL experience under his belt and be ready to contend for a first-team (certainly first-team squad) starting place as a left-back (eventually replacing Baines? ) or centre-back (eventually replacing Jagielka? ) .
As it stands, I just don't see Oviedo or Funes Mori as convincing options in those positions.
If Galloway is destined to be a centre-back, then I hope that Garbutt can deliver consistency at left-back during his loan spell at Wigan and prove himself worthy of a chance at Everton.
We also have other promising young defenders who will hopefully develop - and we're being linked with good. experienced defenders in the transfer market who'll give us defensive strength and squad depth for the time being,

Believable4 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2016 12:46:42
I agree Sid this will be good for Galloway and Everton. Pulis is very good at defensive football and from what I saw on Saturday Galloway will certainly learn a lot defensively I don't think he will improve much going forward though so I hope he is developed as a CB not LB to be honest.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 12:48:43
''strength, discipline and commitment. ''

Perhaps the 'holy trinity' of all defenders Sid?
Coming back in a years time with all three enhanced under TP sounds like a plan mate.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 13:31:12
The thing about premier league loans for our youngsters it shows them that 1 they have a quality already. 2 makes them push to be good enough to come back here and fight for a place next year. 3 most importantly the game to game side of things is a lot different from the under 23s. Good luck to him.

22 Aug 2016 11:52:37
Thoughts on Galloway loan to WBA?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2016 12:24:21
Good option I think. much better than Newcastle in the championship. He'll get prem experience with a strong defensive unit. I for one, definitely want to see him back in the royal blue though as I think he has real potential.

Agree4 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 12:48:25
Hope he stays. Know he's a CB, but looks like he'll be used as an LB at WBA. Baines' successor?

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 11:50:24
I think loan move to West Brom is a great move he needs to be playing football and I can't think of anywhere better to develope as a defender under Tony Pulis although I think we could of done a deal with Newcastle involving sissoko but Galloway'sdevelopment is important he will learn more at west Brom being in prem, what you think ed.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2016 12:00:57
To be honest I did not hate the bloke, players have to take responsibility and I felt a bit sorry for him towards the end a lot of players went missing and he was so alone for last 5/ 6 games there are a lot of players that need to win me over in truth like Mirralas, delboy, McCarthy and few others, weather they fell out with manager or not th they have to perform especially now with places in team getting stronger.

22 Aug 2016 12:23:58
I fully appreciate what you're saying TrueBlue but I can't really feel sorry for the guy. For the last season and a half he failed to deliver. We all know if it was not for Lukaku's goals we would more than likely be in the championship by now. Martinez just is not good enough a manager for the premiership league, and he should of quit before waiting to be sacked.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 12:27:41
Didn't hate him meself neither 🤷 . just never had faith in him from day one!

However to say I don't miss him is kind of an understatement, he is no league manager at all he hasn't got an effing clue 🙄.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 13:15:21
I haated him the day he came to the club still hate him will allways hate because he was a con merchant who fooled people.
He has even conned his way into another job, let's close the subject.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2016 14:08:29
Why would he quit and stop getting paid he has still got his salary up till when he was appointed with Belgium I'm not trying to defend him in any way shape of form but it got very personal towards the end from a lot of fans football changes very quickly and I remember when everyone thought he was the bees knees in first season, don't be surprised to see Belgium get stronger I think Martinez suits international football, yes he left us in a bad way but I don't hate the guy and wish him all the best, let's not forget some of the things he did do like bringing youngsters through playing stones on regular basis from which we made a tidy profit, buying Lukaku first player to score on regular basis and profit sitting on him, football goes in cycles and I think we're on the right wave for once people in the right places to take club forward and more to come in terms of investment new stadium a case of when not if.

Funnily enough though, despite the fact that he was poor training wise and tactically, the work he did to revamp the youth system and youth recruitment may be his lasting legacy. In my opinion Holgate and Galloway have got massive careers ahead of them, and we are already seeing the fruits of his labour with the likes of Tom Davies coming through.

Although people ate getting worried about us being linked with every Tom, dick and harry, I find it quite refreshing. For years we have been linked with the dross (madar, max-moore, etc)
Now to be linked with better quality players is a good thing. sw and rk are not stupid. They will not buy 6 left wingers and nothing else. we are not going to get everyone we are linked with so let's hold on, enjoy the ride and support whoever puts on the mighty blue shirt come September.
