I think we should stay positive and hope baines and Fellaini stay they both know they are adored by the fans of Everton and are key members of the team they will not have been to impressed with the way moyes has gone about his buisiness he has not exactly gone out on a limb for either of them also there is still big players at utd like Evra carrick cleverly so there will be no automatic selection were at Everton there first names on the sheet
I would be happy for both to stay and bring in another cm maybe Bangera as the squad would look good then we just need some more creativity through the middle

Mc Carthy is going 2 be one of the best cm around.watch this kid grow.he has the same quality as Roy Keane and much more.in 5 years time this kid Will be the most sought after cm.i think we. I think we should get him now and watch us become a class team

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He possibly maybe, but is he worth the 15 million fee that Wigan supposedly want?
I think we need a dynamic midfielder who can harass other midfields and run all day. Box to box style. Allow others to play.

Agree0 Disagree0

If RM thinks he's worth £15M then I'll support that. He's paid to be the expert, not us, so if he thinks he's good enough to improve Everton that's ok by me. We all have our own valuation on players. Who would have paid £15M + add ons for fellani? I presume that 99% of people on here are Everton fans, and those who go to the games know that you can't judge a player on what you see on match of the day. So how can you really judge McCarthy? Have you been on scouting missions on our behalf? That rant is for all the posters who don't rate McCarthy, or believe in RM's judgement. Bloody hell. This new strongbow dark fruits goes down easy.
Blue Lee

Agree0 Disagree0

McCarthy's one of the best cm's around! You obviously don't watch much football then my friend. If he joins then I'll get behind the kid 100% but that statement is one of the funniest things I've read on here. I've seen him play many a game (and not highlights off MOTD) and I'm struggling to see this, at all. I could list 20 cm's off my head that would make him look ordinary. If Fellaini leaves then I really do hope we look outside of the Championship or outside Wigan Atheletic as we can most definately get better for our money, I'm not saying he's not a good player but 'one of the best cm's around'! Give us a break.

Just watched Spurs an am watching Swansea. My God we have got our work cut out.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The teams they are playing would struggle in league 2. We will finish above Swansea but below Spurs.

Mike {Ed025's Note - cheers mystic mike.. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Swansea are playing a poor team but with spurs squad we are so far behind them now i'd say 4th is well out are reach

Agree0 Disagree0

I think this season is going to be very interetsing I think if we have a really poor winter then there may be a few supprise results as I am not sure if some of the fancier football will be as efective on a crap surface. IMO I think that is why we in the past tended to come good just after the Xmas break. If we make the top 4 I will be very supprised (but well happy) I think 5th -7th is a more realistic target.

Fellani/Baines, hoping for the best, preparing for the worst and remembering the past when other heroes went.
1. Hearing Alan Ball was off to Arsenal, me Dad dragged me to Goodison (reserve match) that night to slag off the board. they weren't there!
2. Alan Whittle to. (?) he won us the league in 1970 and then just went!
3. Gary Lineker to Barcelona for 2m, peanuts!
4. Howard Kendall off to some no marks in Spain.
5. Big Dunc going to Newcastle, that was like a death in the family.
6. Rooney once a blue, then a red.
7. Losing Steven/Stevens to Rangers after we got banned from Europe through no fault of our own. League Champions and Cup Winners Cup the previous season! (That still is an open wound for me).

Any others i've missed?

Let's just hope just for once we don't lose our best players in their prime.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Losing Jan Mucha on a free transfer has got to be the biggest loss. Awful way to treat a club legend.

Agree0 Disagree0

Only young lad but seeing Arteta force a move to Arsenal was abit crap we gave him the chance in the prem and he was adored but fair play to him he wanted money and european football! However still think we give him to much respect when he plays us because he kicks f**k out of our midfield all the time

Agree0 Disagree0

Look through the history books. To say we have been unlucky is an understatement! We won the league twice then two world wars broke out causing the breakup of our successful teams.
Then our most successful period ever was prematurely brought to an end by our bitter rivals with the Heysel incident.
Whichever way you look at it, it seems we are cursed!
Degsypulford

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta didn't want a move, but was happy to leave after we decided to sell him. I don't ever say 'fact' but on this occasion it is the case.

This ain't a rumour just a plain FACT. Gareth one foot Barry is not good enough to wear a Sundays league shirt never mind an everton one, give him a wide birth.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You don't play for England if you no good, perfect hold up midfielder in my eye, wages first and foremost.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest, if you are no good you will still play for England if you play for a 'big club'.

Man C, Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, even RS have all had players who are no good for England get a call up. Downing, Ox C (future maybe, but no better than Barkley in his present - Barkley has a far better future), Smalling, Cleverly, Zaha. The list goes on and on. Take Ince, if he moved to Utd for example, he'd be a regular just like Zaha will be now, unlike when Zaha played for Palace.

Another, Redmond. If he went to one of the 'big clubs' he'd get called up all too regular, although Redmond is a player who should be called up because the U21 players are actually better than the sh*te in the 1st team now.

Joe Hart? He plays every week no matter what mistakes he makes. Ron Green - brilliant keeper - makes 1 mistake in the USA match and, because he plays (at the time) for West Ham, is never seen in an England shirt again. Now tell me that would happen if he was playing for Utd.

Who agrees?

Agree0 Disagree0

Gareth Barry is poor. I think he will fit in nicely at Everton.

HB

Can I say what a great job the club have done over these bids from United?

Instead of sending out the rash statement that we received for Baines they held their tongue in dignified fashion.

When the latest derogatory bid came in, they left it for after the first game of the season to have their say. They released a statement on the official clubs website to let FANS know and not the papers that would probably go to straight to United for their part of the story that would be wholly fabricated no doubt.

We wanted better communication and the club are definitely delivering.

I'm off to see Barcelona V Athletico Madrid next week at Nou Camp. Just bought an Everton shirt and got Barcelona put on the back and hoping to get some signatures.

Has anyone been recently (past year or two) and have any ideas on how to get it signed by a couple of players?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Try going to one of the training sessions held in the training pitch next to the ground mate. They're held most days and are open to the public. The players will often sign autographs etc if they have the time at the end, good luck.

I had to laugh at Gary Neville on TV the other night. You know who I mean. The unbiased TV Pundit.

He was saying that he was surprised that Everton had been offended with the joint 28m bid. He added that although he thought it was a cheeky bid, he guessed that Utd would return with a slightly improved offer and a fair price would be just a couple of million more. He thought Everton were being unrealistic.
Based on that theory, I am offering Manchester United £1 for Van Persie. After they refuse I will offer £1.02 and assume they will accept.
Man Utds valuation of Van Persie does not come into it. Just like ours doesn't with Baines and Screech.
Degsypulford

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol, good logic there! I'll trust Neville's opinion over yours thanks, and if you watch him regularly you'll know he ain't that biased.

£28m for the pair is not full value but it's really not that far off!

HB

Agree0 Disagree0

Not far off HB? It's at least £22m shy. And how do you know what Everton value them at? Everton's valuation is what they're worth not what neville or Man U say they are.

Agree0 Disagree0

And yes Degsyp great logic there fella. Utd fans don't like the truth, it seems or cannot grasp straightforward concepts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just trying to stir the pot, if he really does think it's about the right price, just shows how little he knows about the game, as a very minimum a realistic price 18m & 28 m = £46m just in case the thick tw. cannot add up.

Agree0 Disagree0

HB-David Moyes wanted to put a £30m release clause in to Marouane Fellaini's contract, his advisors wanted it set lower they agreed on a figure c. £23.5m. If you can not see the hypocrisy in this then you are either stupid or ignorant. It is DAVID MOYES'S valuation of the player.
Leighton Baines is worth around £35m but considering his age his value drops significantly to at least £18m as he has an impeccable injury record and created more goal scoring chances than any other player in Europe last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary Neville is probably the best pundit on tv, and one of the few who deserves to be there, unlike Lawreson, souness and all the other fools who are only there because of past achievements. That said, he's being a bit stupid there. You don't call something insulting if its only a few million off.

Agree0 Disagree0

Degsypulford again here. HB to respond to your posts, the point I was trying to make was that everything has a value. That value is whatever someone else is prepared to pay for it. eg a glass of water here is worth next to nowt. In the Sahara Desert if you have been without water for 2 days you will sign over everything you have to me for the glass of water. What Gary Neville seems to assume is that whatever Man Utds offer is, then we should accept it. Actually we have a choice. We can turn it down. If Baines or Screech hand in written transfer requests, it makes it slightly more awkward but still not impossible (see Suarez as example). If our valuation for the two is 50 million. Then that is what Manchester United will have to pay. Unless of course they wait for the players contracts to run out just like they did with Moyes. If that's the case, they are not signing for you just yet.
Degsypulford

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to say just because g.neville is and ex man u player dosnt mean he can't have an opinion, as a footballer most thought he was a bit of an person but he's quickly became one of the best pundits on the telly and talks more sense than most

He'll only work to get a contract, once he has that he won't work. He scored about four goals in total last season.

One of the worst players I've ever seen. Only plays when he wants, which is when he wants money. On loan with the possibility of signing at the end could motivate him to be decent, but I wouldn't take the risk.

Martinez:

"If someone matches the valuation then you have to make a decision but that's not been the case."

Why did he not say they are not for sale at any price? That's right - because they are!

Everton fans have been so 'offended' by United's bid but it strikes me that they are just worried about losing their best players.

Let the guys at the top sort out the business side of things etc. but let's just say, you should prepare for the worst!

Degsy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Baz, Degsy

Nice to hear from you so much on our site, in recent times. Speak to you again on September 3rd when 'facts' actually become that.

Interesting to hear Martinez admit that once the player's valuation is met there will be a decision to be made. Not exactly a 'not for sale' message LOL.

Don't worry guys, I think once Baines and Fellaini have gone, Roberto will still manage to keep you up for a season or 2.

HB

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually hb Everton have the better manager. He humbled moyes in the cup and his whole Wigan team costing £11m humbled a man city team who's average cost was £16m. With a better defensive unit than Utd have then we're likely to competing with yourselves for a top 4 position. He also knows more than one system and is prepared to give youngsters like Barkley a chance, something Gollum never did and is somehow lauded for bringing youngsters through. A total myth.
I'd worry about your own house rather than others. {Ed030's Note - Can we please stop addressing post's to HB,He wont be able to see them as he's now banned,Any further posts for him will just be deleted. }

Agree0 Disagree0

As far as signings go, I see Gareth Barry as a priority. The way Fellaini has performed at times in pre season games suggests he is set on leaving us. We can't replace him like for like but Barry would be a solid central midfield purchase. Premiership and international experience, he and Gibson would provide a solid platform for the likes of Osman or Barkley to strut their stuff. McCarthy is the alternative of course, but at 15 million he is far too expensive. I would prefer to see some of that money go on bridging the wage gap to sign Barry, bring in Mcmanaman, and give Mirallas a run up top. {Ed030's Note - I don't rate Barry,He is no where near as good as Fellaini and if your selling a player you would want to replace him with someone better otherwise there is no use,So unless Everton have someone lined up who's as good as Fellaini then I don't see him leaving. }

Well done to RM for telling how the transfer window is unfair to clubs and players, don't think it will change. Would it not be nice for our players to come out and say, Manchester United is not the club for me. I'm dreaming of course, feelings don't come into it, it's all about money, and we have always sold in the past at the right price. I have a bad feeling 37 million is just around the corner, and papers will be signed. Just don't put the bid in before Saturday MOYES, or you won't to be coming to Goodson soon.

Man Utd supporter here, loads of you have been on our page slating Moyes which is completely unfair.

I don't know what Moyes will do for us in the future but all I can say is he did a brilliant job establishing your club as top 7 finishers so show a little bit of respect and don't forget what he's done for you.

Red Joe {Ed025's Note - you need to mind your own business joe!..we done as much for him, as he done for us, and paid him very well for the privilege, him leaving was not the problem, it was the clandestine underhand meetings with old strawberry nose while he was still our manager that was out of order, and him coming for our players with insulting offers. they say you reap what you sow, so lets hope your club win nothing this season, and he gets an OBE (out before easter) this will make us very happy..

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on RJ, where's your comeback?

As you're a United "supporter" (probably living in the other part of the country), you will only see the football outcomes, but as we, on this Everton Rumours page, are Everton supporters we see the in depth stuff - style of football, loyalty, etc.

So I suggest you shut up and try to see everything else, something you wouldn't know as you don't live Everton 24/7.

P.s. what time do pubs open in your part of the south?

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha, jeez you Evertonians are just so bitter ain't you! I've been wondering why?

It can't actually be about Moyes as it was BK's fault to pay him so much and to let his contract run down.

It can't actually be about the 'derisory' offers because we all know they are worth £34-37m abosulte max. which ain't that far off what we offered.

It can't actually be about Moyes achievements because he took you from relagation battler's to top 8 consistently. Don't worry I'm sure Martinez will help revers the process ; )

I've worked it out - it's just that you are scared of losing your best players, not replacing them adequately and finishing back way down the table. I wish I could tell you not to worry and all will be OK but I can't, sorry.

Good luck guys and chin up! Just glad I got to the truth.

I think with the pathetic bid that Manchester United made we should use it to our advantage. I think Roberto and Bill should make a joint statement saying that how much we value the two players and that the bid Utd made shows how little they must think of those two players, it will show the players that they are wanted by the club and show them how highly we regard them as club and supporters.
Liverpool won't sell to Arsenal because they are trying to close the gap on the top 4.
Man Utd won't sell Rooney to Chelsea because they don't want to improve a title rival.
So why would we sell to a team that we are trying to close the gap on I think it's time we give the premiership a sign that we mean business and are moving forward and if Bill wants Champions league this is a must.
So let's turn a negative into a positive.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Bill and Bobby will sell Felli and Bainsey in case of "Players need to go" only.Your post is quite positive.I hope Bill is hearing and to the bank. But bank statement is only small factor of this deal.Repeat it depend on our player's decision.

like that robbie. shows how much the man u team respect felli and baines and how they regard their worth. undervalued. Here at EFC we do respect them have paid loyalty to them and will want to show intent. I really think we will re buff any offer now uptil and including sept 2nd just out of spite. Would love to see other additions as well as these two staying with us. 1 more central midfielder would do it, but ideally 2 centre mids, one a playmaker to cover for gibbo when injured and one to help barklay in case he blows hot and cold. I understand why a lot of people say fellaini is replaceable and I have had my times when I think his disciplinary or his uninterested body language comes across. I believe we need a physical presence in the midfield and one who can pass a ball and be comfortable in Roberto's system and I don't think there is many about. I think once we get a settled team and Fellaini gets used to the position of being deeper I think he will be harder to pick up when he does decide to be more advanced, I think there where times last season when teams expected him to be up top as a 2nd striker and it made it easier to mark. I thought he done it a couple of times against Norwich and by mixing our play up in this way will make us a tougher opposition.

So bottom line Bill DON'T SELL

Depend on the guy mate.If he won't go that is best. But if he will go we cannot say irreplaceable.Club is important we cannot let's 1 player too much importance unless we cannot go forward.

Fellaini is the best physical appearance you want in a midfield his body language looks like he is tired and lazy but believe me that's just the way he is but is the fittest player in premier league he will cover more ground than anyone and break up play more than anyone
