One day (and I'm not sure in what context) you will need a result from us and that's when we'll help ourselves to a bit of payback. Pathetic attempt against 10 men, even John motson commented on it.

ha ha behave yourself you clown firstly you shouldn't depend on us to get you a result secondly we had nothing to play for Arsenal did and third the BBC have always had a hatred of EFC and I watched the full match not 20 mins highlights and on another day we would of scored at least 3 goals but hey that's football enjoy your 2 games in the champions league qualifier and we will see you on a Thursday night.

If Ross Barkley were to leave Everton what team do you see him leaving to? Is he a starter for top 6 sides?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 May 2017 23:00:19
I do not think a top six club would have him as Spurs do not need him and nobody else seems interested.
So he will probably sign in the end unfortunately he is a big disappointment to me hope he does go.

Barkley is only going to a top 6 club if arsenal lose Sanchez or spurs lose alli.

Bad game today but we have been bad away from home all season. At home though it's been a pleasure and the spite is quickly dissipating and feeling like the Goodison of old. It's strange but it almost feels like it's mid point in a season and the next one is what we have been building for.

So what for next season? I gather how we do in the transfer window will determine that. And my guess is it's going to a big and exciting one.

The outs have potential replacements coming in and the players no longer good enough will be gone and probably already told and planning their hols.

The ins though could see a revelation we have never witnessed before and for so long only dreamed of. We've spent £90 mil since last summer but this summer could eclipse both these windows.

More important than the money though is the players it's buying and whether we spend £10 or £100m it's those players themselves that will make or break us. So don't get hung up on the figures.

Either way this season has brought enough plus points to show next season could be a great one. Maybe even a trophy you never know.

What we do know is the ghost of Martinez is well and truly put to rest.

{Ed025's Note - good post that john..

22 May 2017 08:12:08
Agree with all of the above.

I think if people believe we're going to be signing £60m stellar names because we've got money now then they're setting themselves up to be disappointed. Without CL we're less attractive and I also think the situation with Lukaku may make players hold off - if he says he'll do one more year it's a statement of intent that could attract others, but if he says he's going this summer it may persuade a decent striker to join because they'll be first choice. That said if we start pulling up trees in the Europa before the window closes people might be tempted to join.

I personally don't care if we don't sign massively expensive players for a couple of reasons: 1) Coleman has been one of our best signings this decade and only cost £60k; 2) Walsh found Kante who cost very little; 3) anyone who comes just for the money could do more harm than good like Eto'o.

If he does, I really hope it's because he wants to stay and not because the big clubs didn't want him. I do hope Ross stays and hopefully with competition for places next season, he can truly become the diamond.

So Rom lost out on the Golden boot, that's 5 mill off the asking price, 95 mill it is then, and throw in Barklay for 45 Mill, spend, spend spend RK COYB.

7th is still an improvement from last season and we have more optimism than before. It seems tho since top 10 was secure, players have gone off the boil. We had a pretty poor last couple of months especially away.
Koeman knows he got a lot of work to do over the summer, which may be a bit easier given no major international tournament but Ross and Rom future need sorting one way or the other asap so we can build a squad either around them or without them. (I feel ross is gone after koeman comments post match)

Believable1 Unbelievable0

21 May 2017 23:11:21
Yes definitely an improvement, top 6 away we were a few points behind but well ahead of the rest of the league .
This summer is crucial we must improve the team and squad as a whole, the teams above will strengthen but we must keep pace and secure a couple of top players.
I can see the prem league Splitting further with the top clubs getting stronger, paying the wages to attract marquee signings and winning trophies!

Bad end to the season that but let's try and be positive blues big summer ahead. Some cracking players needed and as I said before mentality has to change. Over to Walsh and R. K now ambition ambition ambition, 75 points is not good enough to even get 4th spot now shows what we are up against but with the right signings why not coyb.

I'd like to say how delighted I am with how much we have improved this season.

Scored 3 more goals, let in 11 less goals and got 14 more points! That is an improvement. Well done Koeman, Walsh and co. If we improve by the same next year we all know where we will be.

Strange season this. Arsenal got more points this season than last season. Finished second last year and 5th this year. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

Anyway future is bright. A lot brighter than it was last season.

Good post NBTB. I guess last year Chelsea, Liverpool and man who were off their game. Normality resumed this season. I do think though with the right signings we have a chance of finishing higher than Arsenal, Man who and maybe even spurs with them moving to Wembley. Who knows but very promising season ahead.

21 May 2017 18:40:17
Great post NBTB, especially the Arsenal stat. I am happy we have stopped the slide. You of all people know I was sceptical after the Martinez fiasco. However. If we end up 6th next season and progress in the cups I will be delighted. We need to secure which players we have and want to hold and replace any who are leaving. re-evaluate the kids and see which ones are ready to make the step up. Then it is as simple as how we perform. But yes the future is 10 times better than it was.

22 May 2017 09:52:24
I'm my humble opinion, everton need to not only concentrate on upfront but in defence, i would try and get Gibson and smalling, I no smalling can be abit hit or miss, but I think with koeman being a defender he could really make him in to a great defender and with his extra height good for corners and attack, plus I like the thought of the city lad but I think Wilshire would be a cracking addition, when playing with good players he can be a fantastic player and hasn't been that injury prone this season.

Other than the midfield of Gana, Morgan, and Davies, the remains 8 positions are up for grabs. Perhaps ending the season like this will give RK the freedom to remake the team. Williams will be a CB, and Coleman will be back eventually. Bolasie and Kevin will be frequently used forwards, and Baines will probably still be the left fullback. Holgate at CB with Jags as a back up.

Otherwise it will be quite a summer. Not only will we be looking for players, but between RK, Walsh, and Moshiri, we will actually buy a few,

Some more of the U23's will need to step up, like Lookman, Calvert-Lewin, Browning, Dowell, Walsh, Pennington, Kenny. Perhaps more of them could secure Championship loan outs to improve them.

Better than last year. We still are not phenomenal.

And let us be thankful for those players who made contributions and will likely be leaving. No reason to be negative. Thank you and best wishes for many successes (just don't score against us later on but hat tricks against the Reds) .

Agree0 Disagree1

21 May 2017 23:15:13
RK has been forced into fast tracking the youngsters who have performed admirably but we need better if we want results, leave sentimentality behind this league is about winning about quality players and achievements!
Davies has been great but we need more qualitiy than Pennington or holgate their time will come.

To be honest I would miss Rom more than Ross. Team desperately needs creativity and drive. Ross just not giving us that. Today summed it up really, down to 10 men and there creative players still destroyed us. While ours didn't have the talent or imagination to do that.

As much as I feel positive about the blues now its not going to be easy to move further forward on the pitch. There's just no creativity and we're simply not good enough. Nowhere near enough desire from half the team either. Think koeman is the right man for the job but these half time subs are becoming a joke. It was refreshing at first but now he needs to start getting it right from the off. I've got a bad feeling we'll miss out on most of our main targets this summer but I hope I'm wrong. Been on the fence about Rooney but now thinking we should definitely get him. We need more leaders on the pitch and I think him coming back to us would give him a new lease of life. Sorry to come across negative but I just think we need to be realistic and patient because we're a long way off were we want to be.

Why does Ëd 002 "have such a downer on Everton and its fan's. Why do we even have comments from him, Its not good all the sarcasm he bleets out.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I don't have a "downer" on Everton and "its fans". You get comments from me because people ask about the interest in players in respect of transfers - if the Everton fans don't want that anymore, then I will be more than happy to stop providing such information. And are you going to give some examples of this "sarcasm" or are you just being a bit of a jerk?}

21 May 2017 15:01:34
Ed gets busy on here we are not the only rumours site on here and he must get sick of being asked the Daniel question she over and over when all you need to do is scroll down the page a little bit and the answer is normally there so give him a break he does this for free Yano.

21 May 2017 15:04:19
Ed002 does sometimes come over a little sarcastic and on Everton and it's fans. But hey he has to deal with some ridiculous questions at times and he also answers the same question over and over again. I ffor one hope he/ you continue on this site with the valuable neutral views on situations. Re Barkley, we Evertonians see it as arrogance and diloyalty. but Barkley and his agent have said absolutely nothing in the media and credit to them both from me. Barkley has not said he will not sign a new contract. Nor has he said he wants to play elsewhere. He has continued training every day and when picked to play has given his all. He is doing his job. Working to the contract he was given. Everton FC have brought him through the ranks and are now nervous of losing him for nothing next season. So naturally they want to sell him with 12 months left on his contract. In order to do that, they could have alerted all other potential clubs that he was available. The same way when Alan Ball was sold to Arsenal all those years ago. No rumours, no fuss. just the deal. Unfortunately Mr Koeman decided to discuss it in order to "force" Barkley into a decision. To sign a new contract or say he wants to leave. But there is the 3rd option that Mr Koeman cannot force. The one whereby Barkley plays another 12 months for Everton, becomes a free agent and then decides what to do. That could be to bugger off elsewhere or sign a new lucrative contract with Everton. That option now looks unlikely. I don't know what will pan out now. But I do know I agree with Ed002 and think all this could have been avoided if Mr Koeman had just said, "The Barkley situation is delicate. We hope he will sign a new contract. We have offered him a good one because we want to keep him at Everton. The board are dealing with it and we hope to find a solution soon. " There was absolutely no need to threaten Barkley with transfers and the likes. That was only done to try and create a selling market. I say that as a Blue lifelong Evertonian and for once think we have handled a situation poorly. Sometimes us Evertonians are too sensitive. eg Mr Koeman's red ballson his Christmas tree. boys we are bigger than that! I would love a pair of big red balls!

If Barkley doesn't sign contract and we have no buyers for him, drop him and not play him in any teams at all for next season. Then see who wants him after that.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Lots of people will. Everton will have embarrassed themselves, players will think twice about signing for such a stupid club and it will be £30M or whatever included wages flushed down the pan. Great idea.}

21 May 2017 08:20:53
Ed, therein lies the problem with modern day football. Players have all the power because of the huge sums of money involved. Most clubs can't afford to lose such amounts of money and players know it so they stomp their feet until they either get the wages they want or a move they want etc. There are lots of recent examples, berahino to name just one.
You probably know more about what clubs do for players in the background to help them feel settled and loved.
Player liaisons, maybe organise buying their houses or cars, sorting birthday presents for wives, girlfriend, kids, etc.
Unless we are in that world, we will never know how things work. Sometimes incomprehensible to a mere mortal like me.
We just have to put our trust in the people who know, rk, sw and the board to get the best outcome for the club.
After all, we as fans support the club and the players, while they play for us. Once they move on, we have new players to support.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - That is not a problem at all. It is simply a matter of contracts and nothing to do with player power. It is down to the club offering a player a new contract and the player deciding whether to agree it or seek a new club. We would not be discussing RB potentially running down his contract if the Everton Manager had not, yet again, acted in a totally unprofessional manner.}

21 May 2017 11:00:45
Imo koeman had been forced to go public because ross has shown no interest in signing a new contract and the manager may want to know which players he can plan a squad round for the next 3/ 4 years etc.
Maybe koeman doesn't rate Ross and wants to 'force' him out. I don't know.
Don't think any of us know what conversations have been taking place behind closed doors and what advise Ross has been getting about other clubs (bigger) being interested.

On contracts. They were designed to state terms of employment and protect employees from the sack without due course. Obviously Ross is perfectly within his rights to stay the length of his and leave for free.
Football (and other sports) is just a whole business world unto itself.
I work and I couldn't imagine another company paying my boss to transfer me.

I suppose we got to hold on til 1st Sept and see which players we have and who has gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think koeman is baring his teeth with the ross situation geoff, its a statement of intent that the club will not be trifled with, local lad and evertonian who is an england international getting plaudits all over the place and hes told he can leave, it certainly sends a message out imo mate..

21 May 2017 11:23:15
Good point ed25. Do you agree with ed2 that koeman is embarrassing the club and being unprofessional?
As we all know and have said many times, Ross is a good player and started the season really well but he is so inconsistent and went off the boil.
Maybe koeman doesn't think he'll ever get consistency. He's tried arm round the shoulder, tried criticism and maybe he thinks he wants rid and bring other players in.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - ED002 has his opinions and i have mine geoff, i think koeman is doing exactly what i would have done if i were in charge so i find it hard to be critical, i would like ross to stay but dont see why we should kow tow to his every whim and if he wants away then fine, everton FC is the constant and players will come and players will go it happens at every club mate, his loss if you ask me..

21 May 2017 13:16:02
