What are peoples thoughts on an offer for martial? Not really been given a run in the utd team and possibly surplus to requirements there now. Think he has the work rate and quality on the ball he is also still young at 21 and a similar player to henry when he 1st joined arsenal and look at what he turned out to be.

In all honesty I think Ross is better than Sigurdsson and has the age on his side Sen the stats and Ross created more chances in open play than GS also the majority of GS's assists came from dead ball situations. I will be sad to see him go and it looks like there's no coming back from the situation he and the club have got themselves in. And is koeman and Walsh want GS I will back him all day long. Just think there is better players out there for £40mil.

Barkley assisted Lukaku a total of 5 times in 2 seasons. That is unacceptable. Koeman sees that. He's not wanted.

Agree4 Disagree0

21 Jul 2017 15:33:27
He contributed to 37 goals in goals scored and assists over the last two seasons. So you can't have a go at that. However, attitude and big games are where he struggles.

He's fragile mentally and that separates the men from the boys. Koeman is building a mentally strong squad. Gylfi has this and why I rate him above Ross.

Try getting one Johny, website is tits up when you click on buy ticket, all you get from box office is experiencing high volume of calls no queuing just to call back later, coming up to my first hour of trying and not even reached first base yet. H well back to trying to purchase a ticket.

Update for Johny, after 3 hours finally gave up over the phone, website finally updated for tickets, booked 2 tickets, no option to select child ticket for my daughter, another 30 mins on the telephone, complaint noted and then had to send an email for complaint and partial refund awaiting, Loads more Everton fans having same issue, hope fellow Evertonians get their issue sorted. Stick to bt Duke be less of a hassle mate.

I think Spurs have shot themselvs in the foot with their way off Valuation of Barkley and trying to get him next to nothing, they have alerted other clubs that he can be bought for less than the £50 million, I reckon around £25 to £30 Million tops, if that is the case, I would negotiate a swap deal with Giroud involved now Arsenal are sniffing.

Even though he's 30, a stright swop would do fine, plus the fact that Arsanal have shown interst does seem to have consontrated minds at spurs, so, unless they want to see him in an arsanal, it's time to pay up or shut up!

Among the subs for today's Everton U19 match was a lad called Nicolas Defreitas-Hansen.
He's the USA U16 goalkeeper. I believe that he has dual American-Danish citizenship, which I guess explains how he can play for us.
There's no mention of him on the Everton official club website among the other 16-year olds who joined our academy this summer. That website is quite poor on keeping the squad details and individual player profiles up to date, so I'm not really surprised!
I've no idea if Tim Howard had anything to do with his recruitment, but I imagine that's how the young lad first heard about Everton.

At the time of writing, Everton have 30 registered players aged over 21.
Of these, four are long-term injured: Bolasie, Coleman, Funes Mori and Tarashaj.
Two others - Barkley and Robles - are believed very likely to leave during this transfer window.
Another three - Garbutt, Niasse and Rodriguez - haven't featured under RK and will also probably leave (on loan, if not permanently) during this transfer window.
There are a further four - Byrne, Grant, Gray and Jones G. - who have just turned 21 and it's a moot point whether they'll be put in the U23 squad or go on loan rather than feature for the first team this coming season.
That leaves 17 aged-over-21 players: Baines, Barry, Besic, Gueye, Jagielka, Keane, Klaasen, Lennon, Martina, McCarthy, Mirallas, Pickford, Rooney, Sandro, Schneiderlin, Stekelenburg and Williams A.
In addition, there are seven aged-under-21 players - Davies, Holgate, Calvert-Lewin, Lookman, Kenny, Connolly and Dowell - who are on pre-season with the first-team squad, so they must be in RK's thoughts for first-team selection.
RK Is reported to have said that he doesn't want a big squad of 25 seasoned professionals, who won't all get regular matches, but would rather have a smaller number and then use the youngsters as necessary.
Considering that we're reportedly after three more signings, which (if any) of the 17 players I've listed above do you think that RK will omit from his first-team squad in order to keep it to the size he supposedly prefers? There'll be a similar decision come the January transfer window when Bolasie and Coleman return - and when there might be some more transfer dealings.

With our first competitive game being a week away, how do you predict we line up in the first game? There are several positions that pick themselves, with the main questions being our right back, midfield pairing with Morgan, and the wingers. I believe Koeman will play a 4-3-3 selecting Pickford, Baines, Keane, Williams, Martina, Schneiderlin, Gueye, Klaassen, Sandro, Rooney, and Mirallas. Starting the season positively is crucial so I see him playing an experienced team, with playing more of the youngsters in the second leg if we have a comfortable lead.

Pickford

Holgate Williams Keane

Lennon Davies Schneiderlin Gauye baines

Rooney Sandro

Or if he doesn't it will be 4.3.3.

Pickford

Martina Williams Keane Baines

Schneiderlin Guaye Davies

Rooney Sandro Klaasen

Subs:

Stekelenberg Holgate Besic McCarthy Lookman DCL Mirralas.

21 Jul 2017 14:40:25
I'm not sure he will start Pickford or Sandro as they have had no game time with the rest of the squad although they might play on Saturday I would assume RK will think Stekelenburg is good enough against this opposition in the 3rd qualifying round and may start Mirallas, Rooney and Klassen the front 3 with the option of introducing Sandro in the second half.
Just my take on it.

When MOSHIRI took over I heard him give interview on radio forgot where I listened to it, but I remember one thing he was talking about that stood out and that was "There was never a better time too invest in a premier league club than now but you have to make your move now"
I think the guy was right this top group of clubs look vulnerable I don't look at any signings they have made so far that makes me go wow or makes them any better than last season, maybe cause I'm enjoying our transfer window, but if this group of players can click then I think we'll find we're a threat to all of them.

Chelsea- very noisy in the window looks like they got Morata but was he there top target, Terry leaving that will feel strange day to day stuff.

Tottenham- playing at Wembley with champions league could be too much for them too replicate last 2 seasons, not much experience there but can't deny they are a good team

Man City- spending like they do but are they actually any better than 5 years ago

Liverpool- I like klopp he's a proper manager don't know how much more he can get out of some of those players but he's been brought into win trophies end off 3rd season now so he is under pressure as all are.

Arsenal- top striker brought in, he will score goals and I think they will get back in top 4 this season

Man Utd- Rooney gone, zlatan not available till next year
Lukaku will score goals but what I saw from them last year was not impressive and if mourinho was not there they would not be in champions league and probably not of won the cups

So bring it on I say nothing to fear any more we can go into these big games and stand toe to toe with them.

i predict a bad season for spurs; wembley is a notoriously heavy pitch to play on with several problems reported with the playing surface, over the last couple of years add to that the atmosphere change white hart lane is a similar ground to goodison with fans used to being in they're favoured spots close to the pitch and with this gone the whole change will affect spurs' intensity on the pitch. imo no doubt by christmas they will have one or two fatigue problems from playing regular on such a large and heavy pitch and if this is with any of their key players they will be ruing the decision to move there.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 16:17:56
Does anyone else find it strange that the future of the club was seemingly in the hands of Lukaku, Ross, Stones and Geri and they are all gone/ soon to be gone? .

Yet in all honesty I haven't been bothered by any of them leaving, little bit sad about Rom, will be made up if Ross goes though.

Maybe the more experienced proven premier league players excite me more, would love Gylfi from Swansea, think he's quality and far better than Ross.

Think all we need now is a centre back (Mori out, Pennington, Galloway and Browning on loan, leaves us with Jags and Williams who are past it and Keane)
A left back (only have Baines) , a striker (only have Sandro) and hopefully someone to play behind the striker.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Jul 2017 17:50:18
Good post that Swan, good to see you back as well. I agree but think that if needs be the left back position can be swerved. We can only do so much. We do need a CB because of Funes Mori's injury, and we 100% need a striker, in case Rooney and Sandro can't replace Lukaku's goals. It is a bit odd the way our thoughts have changed over players but to be fair it just goes to show that no player is bigger than the Mighty Blues!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 18:06:12
Agreed Swan. Doesn't seem that long ago at all but feel equally excited by the young players we've got coming through now like Davies, Holgate and Kenny. Add to that te likes of Klaassen and Sandro and I think there's a lot to be hugely positive about, particularly with Korean, Walsh and Moshiri running things.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 18:14:20
The Korean was obviously meant to be Koeman.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 16:15:16
I recall that when Farhad Moshiri sold his Arsenal shares and became the largest shareholder at Everton, Paul Merson commented that he was, "worried, very worried. "
This transfer window, we have signed the young talents Onyekuru and (reportedly) Zirkzee, both of whom were heavily linked with Arsenal. I haven't looked at the Arsenal rumours website yet, but I reckon there'll be some fairly ripe comments over there.
Now I just don't ever see Usmanov selling up - even though Kroenke is firmly entrenched - but I can just imagine the Arsenal fans going thermonuclear if that happened.
As a lifelong Evertonian, who's had to endure the gleeful, mocking, put-downs from other clubs' fans for many years, I should be the "bigger man" and not enjoy now seeing them squirm, but I just can't resist ;-)
No doubt, it'll all come crashing down and hubris will be replaced by humility!

Maybe one of the Eds can clarify something.
I know that as fans we don't have a full grasp of how football finances really work, despite the best efforts of Ed002, etc., to inform us.
I also accept that many fans (me included - I admit! ) blithely write about FFP and expenditure regulations.
Recently, there have been some media articles (I read something by Martin Samuel the other day) about how the FFP regulations have been "changed" and how that made the Everton "project" a much more attractive proposition for Farhad Moshiri and how, as a direct result, the club's recruitment spending (transfers) , infrastructure spending (new stadium) , debt reduction, commercial and sponsorship deals, etc., etc., have been subject to major improvement.
So, my question to the Eds is this: has the FFP landscape changed such that Everton (and other clubs outside the previously "monied" clubs) can now have their owners invest more without falling foul of the previously limiting restrictions imposed by UEFA, etc.?
It seemed to me that although the laudable intention of FFP was to avoid clubs taking on huge debts, in reality it was just a means to keep the cartel of previously monied clubs at the top and effectively keep any aspirational clubs in their place lower down the "food chain" by preventing expenditure/ investment even if those aspirational clubs and their owners could genuinely afford it.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There was a relaxation made about two years ago to allow for "new money" coming in to the club to more one season remove potential sanctions if UEFA are notified before the previous New Year. To the best of my knowledge on theree sides have taken adavntage and done this. It really doesn't impact Everton as they, like all PL sides, have significantly increased revenue from media sources.}

billybob7 - every club in the world sells players in order to invest in new players. I fully expect our nett spend to be significant come the end of this transfer window.
If not, that surely means there'll be funds for further strengthening in the next transfer windows. Besides, our first-team squad is significantly improved already - plus we're also bringing the hottest young talent into our U23s and academy.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 16:13:31
Wise investment if you ask me. let's not forget that we still have players we are likely to off load and are still in the market for a ST and CAM and possibly more. All this and we probably have the best squad we have had for a long time, the future is very bright indeed.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 16:19:38
I agree i think we have the best u23 team in the world if not one of them. But we mite struggle for goals so we could do with 3 more signing (which the club has said it is going to do) i think its am not used to the club doing what's needed to succeed.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 18:11:05
Remember as well that you can't replace 60% of the first team in one window but expect it to work. Look what happened to QPR when he pretty much replaced the first team.

Would rather we stay within our means with the new stadium on the horizon. We've improved the squad hugely in my opinion, aside from a top striker. Once the new stadium is built our 'means' will increase significantly anyway.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2017 18:49:14

Interesting story (from the Liverpool Echo) that while the Everton first-team are in the Netherlands and the U23s are in Spain, we have an U19 team playing in the "Generali CeeCup" tournament in Prague.
What's most interesting about this is that it appears that Joshua Zirkzee, the Dutch wonderkid from Feyenoord who was being courted by several other major clubs, actually played in Everton's opening match this morning. Still waiting for further information.
