Anyone else feeling more and more confident we will keep Baines and Fellaini?

I've seen a few of the pictures on the training pitches with the players and manager and they all look like they are really enjoying it. I'm not so sure that Moyes would have much of a pull on them.

Everyone seems to be getting to grips with Martinez's style and when the players talk about training they are very enthusiastic.

They are still here despite the best attempts of Sly and the rest to concoct a transfer. Other clubs have had plenty of time to reach a deal if they really wanted them. Until we hear officially they have gone, I'll remain confident

i think we should go for jeze rodrigurez on loan from real him and delfoue would be class in the prem together and one more cm if felli don't go i'd go for diame or mcarthy depends on price

Believable0 Unbelievable0

*Jese *Deulofeu - it wouldn't work. You have to have at least one relatively experienced player per position to balance out the inexperience of the young one. We couldn't play both at the same time and that would annoy either Madrid or Barcelona

Not a rumour, more my opinion, I was under the impression we don't want to sell Baines and he doesn't especially want to leave either. If we sell Fellaini we definately don't need to cash in just to get the funds. However there are very strong links about Guilherme Siqueira which makes people here assume we're selling Baines.
Could it be possible that Martinez is attempting to do a Gareth Bale, push Baines up into left mid/wing in place of Pienaar, and use Siqueira as left/wing back? I think Baines' pace and creativity could be pretty impressive on left wing and Pienaar is getting to the age where a replacement is imminent.
I'm probably wrong but just trying to be optimistic about keeping him with this potential new signing.

Not a bad shout that mate would love to see Baines in a more attacking role, defensively I wouldn't say he was irreplaceable but going forward he bring so much! Good to here something positive!

Hes a master at arriving late thas why he's so good at left back, but he could easily do the job

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't compare Baines to Bale, think he is a world class left back but not in Bales class in terms of everything associated with a winger/forward. I don't believe he could ever be as effective. But as eluded to, arguably the best left back in the world. Long may that continue.

I hate all the whining about buying players from teams like Wigan these players like baines and jagielka have served us a lot better than the players we've for from Real Madrid or inter Milan like drenthe or shandy Andy. So stop looking at who they came from or how good they are on FIFA (Kones a beast Btw) and watch a game or two.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said son, 100% with you

Agree0 Disagree0

Taking a relegated club's best player or two works i. e. Distin, Jagielka, Baines. However, what doesn't work is taking ALL of their players. People are okay with us just taking one or two, but if we keep taking all their players i. e. Kone, Alcaraz, Joel, McCarthy, McManaman etc. we will become their club, and they where relegated for a reason.

Agree0 Disagree0

AB, your right mate, wonder who was resposible for that?

Agree0 Disagree0

How is taking kone from wigan, alcaraz from no club and joel from athletico madrid, taking players from a relegated club? they are all great players who did a job and won the fa cup, something moyes coldn't do

Agree0 Disagree0

Ye fair enough but its not like there all coming in to be first team regulars, we have the same team with better back up

Agree0 Disagree0

AB, taking 3 players and possibly another 2 isn't the whole club. It would only improve the squad. It doesn't mean they have to start every match. i'd love robles to keep clean sheets, alcaraz to shut out strikers and kone to bang the goals in then we can all complain about buying players from a relagated club. There was a rumour a while back bout remy coming from qpr. but then again thatsfrom a rrelegated team so no thanks. your NOT a bad player because your team got relegated. A whole squad of inconsistent and bad players gets you relegated. And efc do not have any bad players. I'd like to see McCarthy and Mcmanaman at our club. they would only improve the squad.

Okay so let's look at this, what your saying is we will become a relegation club if we buy a relegated teams players? Funny considering we only bought one of their players so if hazard, nastasic and the ox plade for let's say hull and they went down you're saying you don't want them simply because they play for a team that went down? Yeah great logic there mate, I think the only wigan player we are interested in is mccarthy its not like we've put in bids for mcmanaman, caldwell (god forbid), espinoza, maloney, al habsi, ivan ramis and jordia gomez is it? No and if abramovic left chelsea and they somehow go relegated and mourinho moved to psg and bought mata, schurrle, oscar and hazard that means that psg will go down? *sigh* think before posting rubbish like this (aimed at AB or whatever)

Agree0 Disagree0

Dentielad: 5 players isn't a whole squad, no, but if all five of those players are European quality, they wouldn't have got relegated.

Blueskittle: that comment is so stupid it doesn't deserve a response, but here goes: we have technically only bought one, but they were playing for a relegated club last year, so that's the quality they are. If hazard, the ox and nastasic played for hull, they wouldn't be relegated so that's anothe stupid point. And If Mata, shurrle, Oscar and Hazard's performances went so horrendously poor that they were relegated, then no, you wouldn't want them. But once again, that wouldn't happen. McManaman isn't hazard, McCarthy isn't Mata, Kone isn't Drogba. Don't make stupid, far fetched comparisons and Think about what you're saying before you say it, fool.

Agree0 Disagree0

Blueskittle what your saying makes no sense talking about chelsea players who would never play for a team near relegation anyway, then comparing them to players that play for wigan is silly.

I think Martinez may well bring Oviedo into the team this year, he has been improving and I think he will use him more as a winger than a full back. He could well be pienaar's successor

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Got to say his touch impressed me the other day, plucked balls out the air with ease so ican see him getting more of a chance

lets hope rooney goes to chelsea, then we will get victor moses.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We also get 25% of the transfer fee. Which could be as much as £10mil.

Agree0 Disagree0

BlueJohnUns: are you sure? Isn't it actually just a percentage of any amount above the original fee we received?
Unhappy-Camper

Agree0 Disagree0

Nonsense Blue Johns, Unhappy Camper is on the money.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is not 25%, it is about 15%

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets face it nobody actually knows, been told meself its 25% on anything over man utds price they paid 28mil, he'd prob go for 30 so don't be expecting a lottery win on this win
