Was watching the spurs game against stevenage, but i dont understand why saha isnt cup tied but pienaar is? Do you know why ed? it might just be my limited knowledge of cup ties...
EFL {Ed001's Note - you only get cup tied if you play mate.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Saha didn't play in the 3rd or 4th round of the FA cup for us mate. You only get cup tied if you play. Pienaar played in the 3rd round for Spurs

Moyesy seen on train going to London is he going to spurs?I really hope not, could be something or nothing, just a bit weird Landon Donovan mentioned it in interview last week in his parting back to the states, worried blue. M.B

Just checked our fixtures the hardest game left is united away and tottenham at home apart from that there simple really arsenal home and they are in poor form so let's hope can beat them and realistically looking at another 21 points from next 13 games gives us 64 points maybe could out do chelsea and arsenal and liverpool and sneak in 6th with the confidence flowing and the team defending well can see this happening and us getting to the final of the cup, who would of thought this at the end of December great time to be a toffee COYB!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

33 + 21 = 54!

Agree0 Disagree0

Very optimistic mate. I love it ! We do have tough games though, even though arsenal are poor lately still wont be easy, neither will tottenham aswell, then there is a derby game, then after that stoke and man united away not forgetting swansea and norwich away who are both strong at home i think norwich have lost 2 at hoe and swansea lost once at home, then we have wolves 2nd last game of the season they will be a in a relegation scrap so they will be fighting hard against us ! love your positivity of 64 points but im going for more like 54/55 points and top 8

Just realised that when we play Spurs in the league, and if we meet them in the Cup, we won't be able to play Pienaar (on loan and cup-tied) but they will be able to play Saha (went on free transfer). Not great!

My team for Sunderland (as the squad is now):
Howard
Neville Jags Distin Baines
Gibson Rodwell
Coleman Fellaini Drenthe
Strac

Believable0 Unbelievable2

No heitinga? no pienaar?

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice team, would keep Heitinga over Jags though and probably Hibbert over Neville.

ToffeeJack.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pienaar is cup tied mate. Yes, i'd keep Heitinga in the team and change Neville for Hibbert

Agree0 Disagree0

I like Heitinga but I would rather Jagielka coming up against nippy players like McLean and Sessegnon, as he is less likely to get frustrated and stick a foot in

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Feb 2012 22:02:22
Would love to see this against the rs :
Howard
Coleman. Hietinga. Distin. Baines
Drenthe. Gibson. Fellani. Pienaar
Jelavic. Straqulasi
Blue kaz

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I'd start cahill and strac against the sh*te as I believe cahill will come up against them and has been playing well as late even if he hasn't been scoring. if rodwell is fit yes. and i'd play heitinga over jags and neville over coleman and hibbo as suarez will rip coleman up really and he will just get hibbo sent off ! very confident about the match though
COYB

Agree0 Disagree0

Coleman right back and Drenthe right mid would never work haha both too attack minded, would be gaps everywhere

Agree0 Disagree0

That's my team too Kaz! Providing Jelavic does the business. I guess we'll find out eventually.
In response to the second reply, I don't think there would be gaps at all. Coleman is a much better right back than he is a winger. He's quick and can get up and down the wings at pace. Baines and Pienaar are attack minded and that clearly works.

i could never understand the reason why they cup tied players,it doesnt make sense ,my team against sunderland would be howard, hibbert, distin, johnny, baines, drenthe, gibbo, felli, gueye, strac and ossie if fit in the hole, switchin wit drenthe time and again

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Feb 2012 19:43:58
Ed what are the usual ticket prices for the FA cup games, and are thjey the same for sunderland ? Thanks Dan {Ed025's Note - they start from £33 for adults dan...and i would expect it to be the same for the mackems..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Eh, my FA cup tickets cost £20 for tamworth game and £25 for blackpool

20 Feb 2012 16:59:47
I know it would be great to win the cup. But if we push in the league and get as high as 7th there is a very realistic chance that we could get a euro spot if let's say spurs win the fa cup and the unmentionables win on Sunday. Amaising - we were worried about relegation a month ago and now we are bouncing with optimism. Or at least I am. Supporting EFC is the best.

Toffee ace {Ed025's Note - one thing for sure, on the roller coaster ride, that is being an evertonian ace....its never dull..

If you offered me 14th and the cup i'd rip your hands off

Having a quick glance at our squad before on the Official website and the squad is looking a lot stronger than it has probably since 2009 !
Have a look at my 2 teams, both 4-5-1 as we know it's Moyes favoured formation, see what you think ?

Howard
Hibbert Jagielka Heitinga Baines
Drenthe Fellaini Gibson Pienaar
Cahill
Straqualserui

Next team only Howard and Baines keeping there place;

Howard
Neville Duffy Distin Baines
Coleman Rodwell Barkley Gueye
Osman
Jelavic

Players not even used are Anichebe, Vellios, Hahnamen, Baxter, Mcfadden, Joao Silva.............. and apparently we have signed this Silva from who was at Benfica and a Australian kid today ? Looks a strong squad in my opinion, both of them teams just as strong and could compete against any team in the prem.
What do the ed's and fellow blues think ?
MikeTheBlue {Ed025's Note - i think we are in a good place at the moment mike..

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I cant remember the last time we had such a good squad Mike, I'm starting to get excited now, but then again do we always get excited at the second half of the season then end up with a crappy start next season

I predicted the table couple months ago and predicted Sunderland would finish 7th and us 8th and someone laughed it off what do you think now maybe could be the other way round ed your thoughts as you say honest and realistic things {Ed025's Note - sunderland are a good side, but so are we!..they have had no big injury worries yet, and if someone like sessengon was to get injured, i dont think they have the squad to cope, so i would think we will finish above them mate..

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I was the same mate, not about Sunderland but with us i said i think we will still finish in the top 8 ONLY because the are a few poor teams in the league this season and i thought Stoke would start to struggle with europa league and domestic league and they have, Swansea and Norwich are still going strong but i still think they will be both drop off toward the last 8 games or so both will survive they have been great. As for us now we have improved the squad and especially bringing Pienaar back we can defo finish in the top 8
I think the league will be
1. Man United
2. Man City
3. Tottenham
4. Chelsea
5. Arsenal
6. Liverpool
7. Newcastle
8. Everton
9. Sunderland
10. Stoke
That's my opinion on the top 10 come the end of the season what do people think, would love us to be in the top 6 but with the start YET again to the season we would have to be satisfied with 8th ?
Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree and as you said for the third season running we have had a really poor start to the season and the previous 2 seasons we still finished 8th then 7th so we would have to be happy with top 8 again this season. if we can stay consistant for a whole season like we did in 07/08 and 08/09 both seasons we finished 5th, if we can do that again next season there is no reason why we cant finish in the top6 again, annoying the way we for the last 3 seasons we have started poor i do wonder why we have since finishing 5th and getting to fa cup fianl we have started badly since then, is it pressure or injurys no one seems to known why. why do you think we have started the last 3 seasons poorly ed ? {Ed025's Note - i cant put my finger on it mate...but if i was moyes, i would get them in 2 weeks early for pre-season training, and if that did not work, i would have them in 4 weeks early the next year..

Agree0 Disagree0

Sunderland had no big injury worries? we had 9 players missing against man city our goalie has been out a year our centre half is getting locked up we loaned our only striker out our midfield has been injured half the season and we have bendtner

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha ha ha and we have Bendtner i know he's a strange fella that Bendtner some of the things he comes out with are classic ! Anyways why are you reading a everton rumours page if your a Sunderland fan ?

I think moyes is planning on leaving, because he is securing his stamp on Everton's future, bringing in the aussi, junior, vellios and such. {Ed025's Note - that says to me...he is going nowhere!..

Have a friend who lives and supports Bradford George green is a superstar in the making he has known him since he was 6 years old and tells me it will be a bit like the Rooney situation and that he will not break through next season but will see cameos from him in cup games but he is so good moyes won't be able to keep him out but we will need to be careful not to stick him in to early as this where talented kids fail to develope moyes will do right by him that's for sure

Not a runmour but i just want to say since January Fellaini has been world class, he is starting to dominate games he and Rodwell were similar... just sort of passing there way through games but lately Fellaini has started to control games and dominate in defense and attack. We should be building our team around him

Believable11 Unbelievable1

Absolutely agree

Degsy

Agree0 Disagree0

Where's the poster who said Felli is crap, come on fella have you changed your mind yet

Agree0 Disagree0

Still here
(Are you the nob who 'accepted' an apology I didn't offer?)

As it happens Fellaini was completely pants around around the time I was posting that - I think even moyes said he wasn't playing well - and he WAS just chugging slowly around the pitch in those nightmare bolton blackburn games when we were rubbish - he wasn't closing down or offering himself as an outlet pass

Steve Round reported that before Fulham game Fellaini promised his teammates that he was going to score because 'he'd been getting some stick'
and low and behold he was a different player in the fulham game and since then also - so obviously some of the criticism worked - he thought everton were sub-top and wasn't bothered - but he was sub sub top at that time

he was coasting and not closing down - he was strolling around the place - 20 yards away from where he needed to be and never offering an outlet

he has been much improved lately - from that low point - but personally I still don't think he's a guy you should build a team around if you want to finish above 7th - he is a bit slow around the pitch - he has no shot on him - and I don't think he's a modern style footballer like you'd see in champions league teams like Mata or modric - who are in and out of everything pulling the strings

he's 'sub top' in my opinion - but he's definitely better than his 'sub sub top' days a couple of months back

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh and ps - he missed an absolute sitter of a header on saturday completely free header in the 6 yard box - it was harder to miss than score - in front of park end - and then there was the him-n-gibson mix up where neither pulled the trigger from 3 yards out
his legs are slow that he cant seem to kick a ball quickly - by the time the nerves have carried the information from his eyes to his brain and then from his brain all the way down to his long log like legs - the ball has gone or a defender has come in and blocked him
he needs to work on his leg speed {Ed025's Note - not a big fan then?..

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree. Screech is one of the best mids in the country

Toffee ace

Agree0 Disagree0

Just to point out to the person who clearly hates Fellaini ha ha......... You can't make a point aboit Fellaini not being like Mata/Modric.... different players mate, Fellaini is a first class DEFENSIVE mid... Mata/Modric are creative floating players. Different kind of players so your argument and point is eeerrrmmmm pointless.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini is supposed to be our main centre mid - as is mata + modric - so yeah - they're different style players - cos fellaini is worse at most things
I'd rather have modric or mata style player in my centre mid role than fellaini any day - I'm never going to forgive him for calling everton "sub top"
cheeky git - he's the 'sub top' one, we've won nine titles - what's he won?

Agree0 Disagree0

You must be dead intelligent using the work nob, you clearly have not got a clue replying like that to a poster who knows how good felli is

Agree0 Disagree0

alrite ed,would like to no ur opinion and other blues fans on fellaini performances the last month, personllyi think he has been great, gettin better and better, lets not forget, hes still only 23 or 24,not sure exactly, true blue, efc 4 life {Ed025's Note - i think he hes really upped his game since gibbo came, im not saying gibbo is the difference, just the timing...there was a lack of positivity in his play before, but now he seems to be right on his game, and long may it continue..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He has looked fantastic of late.... Almost a different player and very unlucky to not get on the score sheet.
On a different note, we all know what Baines and Pienaar can do on the left. I think it would be interesting to have Coleman at right back, linking up with Drenthe in a similar way. Pace and skill down both wings. Scary.

Wizard of Osman

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree he has been class he plays with purpose now rather than wandering around like headless chicken he is a match for any midfielder the way he plays at moment keep it up

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon Gibson has had a positive effect on Fellaini. I think he has taken some of the midfield responsibility from him, does a lot of the "fetching and carrying" and has generally freed Felli up so that he can express himself more. We look much more composed and solid now in midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Wiz, Coleman and drenthe on the right and Bainesee and Pienaar on the left, scary stuff mate.

how long before arteta back on loan? and how many blues fans would want him ?

Believable9 Unbelievable4

Where would he get a game now? We have a brilliant centre partnership in Gibson and Felli, and with Peanuts on the left and Drenthe providing speed on the right, we all of a sudden have a real creativity in the team that we have been missing for ages - including last season.

The final piece of the jigsaw has been Dennis up front. Can you imagine what life is like for defenders against him....and then throw in Jelly and you can see a really attractice type of play emerging.

So, no, please do NOT bring Arteta back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta gave great service to us can you really blame a player who is 30 wanting to play champ league before retiring I for one would welcome him back although we need to move on now and bring through the young ones like barkley we have good future ahead of us if we get the backing financially the next decade could see us winning things and Champ league

Agree0 Disagree0

Still think we should give Arteta some respect when we play Arsenal at Goodison I for one will be singing 'follow, follow, follow Everton's the team to follow and there's nobody better than Mikel Arteta he's the best little Spaniard we know!'
