Barkleys debut was the really positive thing to come out of todays match. I thought fellaini played well when he came on as well. I am looking forward to getting coleman back and seeing arteta and fellaini when they are 100% fit. Lets stay positive as we have good players and moyes is one of the best managers in the premiership, we will get it right. COYB {Ed025's Note - lets hope so mate..

Believable2 Unbelievable0

We will bounce back, we have good players and a great manager.Things could look different in a couple of weeks time if we come back strong in the next few games

Agree0 Disagree0

A good manager are you drunk, 4-6-0 at home at 1 nil down he needs to go NOW

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2011 21:14:54
We had Anichebe, Vellios and Saha on the bench and Yakubu in the stands. Fellaini should never have been even considered.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We need changes, is it not worth giving the yak and velios a run out against sheff u? I hope we put in a good performance on wednesday and get back on track {Ed025's Note - me too..

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini should have been starting in the first place, he actually did show some threat up top too {Ed025's Note - i think so too..we were far too negative..

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2011 21:11:06
Moyes plays his so-called "favourites" instead of players who deserve to play in that given position and would benefit the team's performance. And, if anything, Cahill should be played as an out and out striker, not an attacking midfielder. He's getting old, losing pace, has never been a creative force anyway. As much as I love him - I would've rather saw Yakubu in a 4-4-2 with Beckford more than I wanted to see him in the position he plays... {Ed025's Note - interesting thought.....but yak is cack..

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Moyes will be hoping he can offload the yak and bring in another striker before the end of the window. Lets hope so. {Ed025's Note - yes..

The Moyes question is an interesting one.

The man has done a hell of a lot to make Everton better but his weaknesses are blatant and have been there a long time.

- Substitutions are laughable at times
- Team selection is usually too obvious
- The formation is ridiculous. 451 is only used to fit Cahill in I'm sure of it.
- And many more...

Now, there's been people bringing put the 'Moyes Out' banners and I really don't know where I am on that.

As pointed out he has his weaknesses. But who could we get who is better? And perhaps more interestingly, who would want to manage us? The chairmans words this week have not exactly made us look attractive.

Moyes In or Moyes Out?

I have no idea. {Ed025's Note - definately IN..he has not become a bad manager overnight!...lets not be so fickle..IMWT,,

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Moyesie is a hard task master and gets them fit and usually motivated. Apart from that he doesn't have a lot going for him. What you're seeing is the shelf life of the team he put together gradually crumbling away over the past two seasons as they crack on in age and self belief. The manager has stayed the same and the scenario he works in has changed. But he seems to be happy with that so hey ho.... {Ed025's Note - im not blaming moyes...look higher up the ladder..

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming Moyes 100%, I was disgusted at Jags' distribution. I'd sell him in a heartbeat if we'd actually get any of the money to spend and to be fair, Arteta, Felli and Saha let Moyes down when they came on. I'm not asking for Moyes' head and probably never will, but I got a bit closer today. {Ed025's Note - i take your point.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't mind the idea of playing with no strikers for a few minutes, I don't think Moyes is completely clueless, we were actually behind on possession stats at the time and playing 4-6-0 for a short time to sort of stabilize the team, control the midfield and build momentum before we bring on more attacking options is a reasonable decision.

So I can understand Beckford off Fellaini on, but that should've been followed up a few minutes later with Saha for Rodwell and Yak for Heits. Shame that he burned that option by making a meaningless sub earlier on.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2011 21:02:31
I thought Fellaini did well when he came on tbh, he actually did something, Saha did nothing, had a poor touch and was slow turning {Ed025's Note - scant consolation..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2011 21:01:54
Fellainis touch was great when he came on. He gradually lost his head and got frustrated and then his passing went AWOL. But consdering Moyes put him in Cahills role (FFS) I thought he wasn't too bad

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2011 21:00:47
How different would it have been had Baines free kick gone in, or Cahills sitter {Ed025's Note - if,s, and buts, dont get us any points..

My ratings for today
Howard - 6. He had nothing to do all game but pick the ball out of his net. Poor fella.

Neville - 5. He got into so, so many attacking positions and every single cross was abysmal. This is why I want Coleman to be our RB -- he can do something in the final third.

Jagielka - 4. At fault for their goal and all over the place throughout.

Distin - 5. Not great either. They looked like strangers, him and Jags.

Baines - 7. Great free kick. He should have taken the one Arteta did though. I'm not sure whether it's his fault, Arteta's fault or Moyes' fault that Arteta gets first dibs on free kicks, but it needs to stop.

Rodwell - 5. He is not a right winger. He tried his best, but he is not a right winger.

Heitinga - 6. Decent. Not great distribution but nothing too bad here.

Osman - 4. Shocker. He looked tired and badly out of form today. With hindsight he looked like this in pre-season. Worrying.

Barkley - 8. Brave, bold, confident and ballsy. The only positive of one of the worst days in recent memory for this club.

Cahill - 4. Him and Beckford were on a different wavelength all game. And he missed a sitter or two, as well.

Beckford - 5. A horrendous first touch but he showed a hell of a lot of energy; chasing everything. He's not a lone striker in his defence. Just another square peg in a round hole.

Subs

Arteta - 5. Poor from the Spaniard. I hoped for better, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt what with him working his way back to fitness.

Fellaini - 4. Similar story here. Deployed as a secondary striker, which is not his position, he failed to do anything. He looked weak and kept losing possession, which is so un-Fellaini. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt too and put it down to not being at full fitness. That and him being played in a position which is not his

Saha - 5. He came on far too late but failed to do anything nonetheless.

Moyes - 3. The worst game for him I can remember. A horrible starting lineup; equal parts predictable and dour. Subs ranging from useless to genuinely dumbfounding. And letting Arteta take set pieces He'll be shielded by the board's impotence, but he deserves a massive kick up the arse for this.

Ref - 5. Odd decisions all game. 5 minutes in we should have had a pen, for me. Not enough extra time considering how long their player was injured + subs, but I suppose we wouldn't have scored anyway. {Ed025's Note - what a superb post...exactly as i saw it....i know this is strange.....but i have nothing more to say!

Spot on with the ratings, i was at goodison and i completely agree

Barkley has got to start next week against Blackburn, that said we might as well play the entire Youth team and hope for a better result. Hopefully we can batter Shef Utd in midweek and get some confidence back after that disappointing performance. {Ed025's Note - lets hope so pal..

Just wondering but can anyone tell me were the money for klose's wages has gone?? Ok we never signed him or had him but we must have had the money to offer him. Why will the banks allow other teams to keep spending and running up more debt, but not us?? Something just ain't right Any one else feel the same?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I think moyes was expecting to offload yak and yobos wages. Lets hope he can offload them before the end of the window so we would have a chance of bringing someone in to freshen things up. {Ed025's Note - dont hold your breath mate..

20 Aug 2011 20:34:44
On a plus note barkley was great today, the lad is going to be a star. I hope coleman gets back soon as well, as i think he has a big part to play this season as well {Ed025's Note - at least that gives us a bit of hope!..cheers

Believable1 Unbelievable0

If Gueye, Barkley, Vellios and Hope had played today we would have done far better i say {Ed025's Note - lets face it....they could not have done any worse

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Barkley was a positive but I'd also say he's still not 100% ready yet. We need to be careful with him. We weren't with Rodwell. {Ed025's Note - he looked ready enough to me!..

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2011 20:17:05
We lacked sharpness today and and we appeared to be muscled out of the game at times. It is obvious we need a winger and a striker and more of a ruthleness in our play. Lets hope things improve soon. {Ed025's Note - you think so?.......

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2011 20:04:19
IF Baines would have scored from that freekick, we would probably won the game. Anyways it would have been whole different story i think. {Ed025's Note - i think your right..but we underestimated them

Believable1 Unbelievable0

If Baines puts it six inches lower, and Cahill scores a sitter, I don't think we'd have so many moaning about what a poor performance it was. They took their one chance and we missed ours. That's football. We dominated every statistical category you can think of except for the score. But this is nothing new with us, is it? {Ed025's Note - no its not mate...but we were playing an average championship side!...and that, for me, was just not good enough!..

Agree0 Disagree0

If Rodwell had any sort of shooting capability we'd have equalised early on in the second half and gone on to win the game. Unfortunately, he has zero confidence and isn't actually that good even when he does. {Ed025's Note - pre-season, some were saying only sell him, for £25 million plus!..i told you then, and ill tell you now....he is overrated to the extreme!..

Agree0 Disagree0

That might be true, but what was really poor about today was that QPR moved for each other and, in the main, when they passed the ball, they found someone from their own side. When we had the ball we hardly ever had someone making a move to make a pass easier and QPR were tighter to their man then we were. {Ed025's Note - does it remind you of a certain team, a couple of years ago?..

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2011 20:02:56
I think we'll get 7th again. The thing I'm hoping for this year is out of our hands; I'm hoping that teams already in Europe win the domestic trophies, so 7th means Europe. {Ed025's Note - after that!..do you really??

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2011 20:01:48
It will get better, our players are too good. 7th finish again me thinks, it is too early to panic, lets hope for a positive reaction from the players against blackburn {Ed025's Note - it better had!....or put a 1 in front of that 7..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2011 19:24:43
as much as i am utterly dissapointed with our showing against QPR, I don't want to undermine Kenwright or judge my team. Yes, there were parts that were piss poor. But Barkley was amazing, just as good (if not better) than anyone we can afford to sign. We are in a very, very rough place right now. But saying things like 'Kenwright Out' is not going to help the situation. As much as i wish we had the money, even just to keep Barkley out of the hands of the 'big' teams, Kenwright is not the problem. I believe he has the club's best interest's at heart, if anything it's people like Elstone that need to get out.
And secondly, don't criticise Moyes. Yes, playing Rodwell on the wing today was terrible. But look at it like this: against a below average team we decided against the risk of putting Fellaini and Arteta straight in. And although Osman would have been better out wide, I wouldn't have risked Rodders in the middle as I don't think it would've turned out great. So, let's just continue getting behind them. And if it was me, i would show the players that i don't tolerate shoddy play - swap Hibbert for Nev next game for example to prove a point more than anything.
Oh, and who was the fella talking to Kenwright in a suit before the game? Looked like a footballer, but it wasn't Gueye i don't think?

Steve EFC Twitter: @SteveBiggert {Ed025's Note - cant agree with you there steve...the buck stops at kenwright!...also moyes made some poor choices today...maybe the financial turmoil is getting to the players..and manager!...but that was piss poor..

This is my take and up front I'm a bk hater

All you fans who our licking his ass u now see why we have all been negative

Moyes tactics our wrong today

Fellaini on bench?

Rodwell on wing?

Barkley on left?

Cahill?

We had correct back four

Arteta should been right

Osman left

Fellaini and Barkley rodwell centre

Barkley off top with beckford or Saha

Through negative come positives what we don't need is all of the fans sticking by the board

You now realise that being positive is the equivalent of being deluded

This board must go {Ed025's Note - i totally agree....i am moysie,s biggest fan....but he got it wrong today!...but dont you think the negativity surrounding the club was evident?...even in the crowd..i feel our beloved club is being run to the ground!..

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Maybe cahill wasnt up for it, but id sure rather have him up top than saha, nuff said

Agree0 Disagree0

1. I can see why he didn't play Fellaini and Arteta in Starting XI. We expected to be in front before half time, risking those players in theory wasn't going to be smart. 2. Rodwell shouldn't have played on the wing, Osman should have. But with regards to my earlier point, would have risked playing Rodwell and Heitinga in the middle? I wouldn't, to me Rodwell's a bit iffy and Osman has the experience. 3. To be honest, i thought Barkley played well both sides. And keeping everything i said in mind, you would rather have Rodwell on the left? {Ed025's Note - except for barkley...the rest were woeful...including the manager...things must improve quickly....or heads must roll!,,

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2011 18:05:44
in that game we missed coleman, the right side was crap poor delivery from rodwell and neville never looked like scoring {Ed025's Note - this is the price we are paying..for lack of investment!..

so there you have it, its confirmed, we are a club in crisis and any of you who say otherwise you are kiding yourselves, no money at all, no striker who can score regular goals or who can stay fit, no buyers for the only 3 players we can afford to let go, yobo, yak, anichibe and to top it off we are the laughing stock of the league again loosing to qpr at home in our first game, its embarrasing and without buying a fresh quality striker things will only get worse, kenright out now {Ed025's Note - this is down to the board...a new face (or two) would have freshened things up a bit..we looked stale, and like a side who were affected by the negativity surrounding the club...i am gutted..

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Aug 2011 17:05:13
It's going to be a long season {Ed025's Note - if we play like that every week it will..

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Yeah, to lose at home to a newly promoted side, which had lost 4-0 at home just last week is embarrassing

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Aug 2011 16:57:41
Once again Moyes' negative tactics have back fired, I mean starting Rodwell and Heitinga and playing 451 against QPR, c'mon?

Arteta was poor, Felli was decentish, Barkley was good, Neville was poor, Heitinga was ok, Rodwell was poor, Beckford was horrible.

Not looking forward to this season if that's what to expect every week.

One depressed blue...

GP {Ed025's Note - make that 2..

come on everton, throw arteta on for rodwell, he cant play on the right, then reassure the midfield up by throwing fellaini on for heitinga, if things are still not working, throw saha on for beckford.

So somehow, Barkley is starting ahead of Mikel Arteta and Heitinga is starting ahead of Marouane Fellaini... Saha is fit for once so why not play him when we can? The ONLY positive is no Anichebe...

I have this strange feeling. The board has finally admitted to what we all suspected. Sky News, major newspapers and websites are all talking about the financial plight of Everton. Call it intuition, maybe even optimimism, but dusk comes before dawn. And i have a sneaking suspicion that our dawn is not far away.
My only issue is, with a definite need for a new stadium, my hopes of a Blue buyer coming in seem a bit bleak. We don't need a Sheik Abdulla Bin BettaTanCitteh, but i think that's what we will probably get. But i don't want to spend 100mil a season, we could do amazingly well with just 25-30. I don't want us to be the next Man City 1. we are better than them. 2. their players know nothing about the jersey they wear. Passion is the only thing ensuring money doesn't ruin football, City have no passion.

Hi Eds, Please can this link please be posted on the rumours page? I know it’s not a rumour but the more coverage and places we can get this petition the further it will go with the government and let the people be heard. It’s also a chance for football fans to put aside their normal rivalry, just for a short while, to support a just cause.
Many thanks
Geoff

We already have over 65,000 signatures on the e-petition for 'Full disclosure of all government documents relating to 1989 Hillsborough disaster'. Please forward the link every site and blog:

epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/2199

Get your facebook and twitter contacts to sign up and don't forget to get them to confirm the return email. If we can get 100,000 signatures and above and it will be brought up in the House of Commons.
Let’s be heard and support the families who deserve the whole truth about the investigation. {Ed025's Note - glad to geoff...we have our rivalry...but when it comes to things like the tragedy that was hillsborough, we should all stick together...i urge all evertonians to sign up...and all merseysiders to demand answers..

The blue union has been accused of a lack of respect, sorry, but the people who have been treated with a lack of respect have been the supporters, who year on year have been feed on lies, that is what you call lack of respect.I have defended Kenwight for years, but enough is enough, agree on a new board, who's primary task is to sell the club.
