With the season near finishing, the press are linking us to a few players for when the window opens. This is probably the most important window we have faced in recent years. Will Rom stay or go? Will Ross sign the deal on the table? These two questions alone will have a massive impact on who we bring in. One of the biggest decisions, for me at least, is which keeper we will sign.
We need a strong character on top of the usual attributes you want from a GK. Out of the two main targets, if you believe the papers, I would opt for Hart. Despite what some say on here, he is a class keeper, no doubt about it. No1 for his country and he will be hungry to prove to City that should not have got rid of him. He has plenty of top level experience. Pickford is the other name I keep hearing but I have reservations. His situation is similar to when we signed Joel, playing for a relegation doomed club, he is going to be busy in games. He will make some good saves along the way, that's bound to happen with the amount of shots he faces. He's decent but is he really good enough for a team chasing European football? I just don't get the hype over him.
Butland is probably dead in the water, Stoke won't want to sell and they have stuck by him during his injury so I think loyalty will be shown by him. Saints won't want to sell Forster so our options will be limited. Hart looks like the only goer and even if he was only your third choice to bring in, it's not a bad option!

{Ed025's Note - im with you on pickford spud hes well over hyped for me, hart would do fine ...and hes got great hair.. :)

20 Apr 2017 22:44:59
I'm with you on Pickford Spud. He's similar to Robles in that he seems panicky. I'm not a fan of Hart either but he has an air of confidence like a Neuer that spreads to the rest of the defence.

Harts main problem though is over-confidence. However, he would be an improvement.

Don't fancy either of them, rather go for Smeicle or Heaton.

Some may go so far as to say Hart is head and shoulders above the rest! ☺️.

Interesting post, my brother is a Sunderland fan and he says Sunderland keepers always look so good because they get A LOT of practice. If you remember Mingolet, he was unreal for Sunderland. Not so much for Liverpool it would seem, is he even first choice anymore?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - at the moment he is gibbo but karius will be first choice next year... which gives the rest of us a lift.. :)

21 Apr 2017 07:25:58
I have sneaky feeling Forster will be our number 1 next season. Saints are a selling club and if the price I see right players are allowed to leave, just take a look over the park for the example of that, if not I would take Joe in a Hart-beat.

Schmichael for me. Old head on young shoulders.

21 Apr 2017 12:31:54
Schmeichel been around a while now, must be over 30. Not old for a keeper. Forster my preference though.

Wow you're right Tedster. He's 30. Thought he was younger than that.

We should have signed Shmeichel years ago when we had the opportunity.

An ideal transfer window for me would be to keep all our best players.

Add to that some young exceptional talent which would be low risk signings as they at worst would have large sell on fees and at best become stars for us. With that in mind 4 players i like are dolberg tielmans engels pickford. All 4 are young with bags of potential.

For a little experience i'd also like either rooney or sigurdson.

Just to finish off i'd also go for ghazzel and kolasinac on a free.

Now i know some of them are unlikely and not even sure if we hold any interest in any of them but that would be my dream trf window

What i am sure of tho is its a great time to be a blue.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - im really looking forward to the next transfer window anom, as you say its a great time to be a blue and i can see us doing a bit of damage next season, just watching tielmans against united and hes been very impressive mate..

20 Apr 2017 22:23:59
Agree with you Ed. this Tielmans looks a right player! Hopefully we are in for him, tough to get in our team in his position but I'd love him there as competition! Some player him!

{Ed025's Note - yeah hes quality jimbob and would be a great addition mate..

21 Apr 2017 09:02:04
This is Everton lads. Always optimistic just before the transfer window opens and then we wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait, then comes the announcement, someone we have never heard of and missed out on main targets because we waited and waited and waited and waited. ;-)

4 years ago we paid £5m for Kobe and have probably paid the same for his medical bills up to now, so £12m for enner who is always available even if it's only for bench duty is ok by me.

{Ed025's Note - works for me glt..

A lot of negativity about the possible signing of Valencia for 12mill.

He's been a go to guy for a plan B for a while an done well. The modern day market 12mil I think is a good bit of business.

I for one would bring him in for that. Think he's done a great job off the bench. An with Rom more than likely moving on, it could be a gamble an I think the more options the better.

Don't get me wrong I don't want him to start week in week out but for 12mil, good bit of business for a squad player.

I'm sure we are getting 8-10mil for cleverly. Wages possibly the same. (I could be wrong) .

Any insight Ed? An what you thinking. I'd take him me. He's not the answer but he's a good option.

Cheers.

{Ed025's Note - at £12m its a no brainer jimbob, for me the guy has done nothing wrong and is apparently great in the dressing room, as you say hes a good option and you never hear the guy moaning when hes on the bench week in week out, we are not in a position for every one of our squad to be a superstar and enner is a damn good squad player for me mate..

20 Apr 2017 18:58:37
Amen Ed,

glad to hear a bit of positivity regarding Enter, I think he's earned his move myself.

Cheers.

{Ed025's Note - no probs mate..

20 Apr 2017 19:59:44
If as a club we want to challenge on several fronts we need a strong squad with players that offer different options, Enner has proven he is a good option to turn to when the manager wants to go with support for the main man up top. He works his socks off and creates chances and space and knows what we are about, I would take him at that price me.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no arguments from me gray..

20 Apr 2017 20:03:06
Totally agree with above. I'd love to know if anyone has an idea how to find out how much points we have won or earned when Valencia was put on. My initial thought is its a good bit.

Just one particular reference to above. Wouldn't like a £12m signing starting every game? How much did Gana cost?

For me if they are good enough they should start. Doesn't matter how much they cost. Love that about Koeman will start players regardless of background. Davies another example.

Not saying for one minute that Valencia will be starting every game if he is signed. At the same time I would not knock him before he is tried. As I said just look at Gana.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - some people think success is all about buying expensive players NBTB but its not, you need the grafters and the players who dont mind sitting on the bench until they get the call they are vital, everyone cant start and players like enner who when he gets on gives 100% are needed in any squad mate..

20 Apr 2017 22:39:56
I agree. Really good impact player, would be nice to see him string a few games together if we keep him next season with the added games to play.
Oh and you can tell by the way he plays when he comes on that he wants to make a go of it a EFC.

My concern is that loan players tend to be motivated during a loan period then when signed go off the boil.

Does anyone remember Aaron Lennon?

£12 mil is still a big chunk of money for a player on the bench. Although, I do like the lad and maybe we are a good fit for him.

I expect the club to have a better idea of his attitude than the lazy phylosophy of Martinez so it might not be such a big risk. On the fence with this one.

Hi Ed what about us putting in a bid for David De Gea worth a go you reckon, would he impress you, cheers GuernseyBlue.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - in our dreams GB, hes an excellent keeper but he will be staying at united it looks like mate well until madrid come a calling anyway..

20 Apr 2017 17:59:51
Goal difference could now become important if we go into the final game with arsenal and them three points ahead and us needing to win to go equal on points. At present we are on an equal footing. Rom could do us a big favour by netting again and again before he seeks pastures new if that is what is going to happen to him.
Oscar.

What about 30mil and Martial for Rom? Sounds good to me. Any takers?

Everton have slapped a 100m price tag on Lukaku. I say I hope Chelsea buy him. Don't get me wrong I thoroughly enjoy watching him at Everton and I will be gutted he goes. But if the boy doesn't wanna play for us and Chelski wanna pay the 100 million. Then tata. That type of money could do wonders for our club on and off the field in other departments.
