I know that to some degree it's always gone on, but Chelsea are doing it so blatantley, it's surley time for the club to make a complaint to the FA, if they want to talk to the player, that process begins with them submitting an offer of at least 100m, and only if the terms are to the clubs likeing do they get to talk with Lukaku.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - if only it worked like that JCW, contracts are not worth the paper they are written on and agents like mino raiola will take full advantage and there is nothing the club can do about it realistically mate..

Listening to the way some of us on here think our team should of done this season we should of qualified for champions league by January. We got stability in the boardroom a very good manager and the start of what should be a very good new stadium I am happy with progress. Just because the Man City team now is a top side with championships and big name stars it took a bit of time to get to that so we need to be realistic about where we should be by now

I would like to see new gk maybe 2 cb and a st and 2 st if we can't keep lukaku all of them need to be ready now not ones that are for the future that been said if we can add future players on top of that will be a very happy blue.

Yes yesterday was poor, but this whole season has been a roller coaster of highs and lows. Hopefully RK will now know who he wants to keep and who to let go.
Have read a lot of comments about why big players won't want to come to us but remember this, we now have the clout to pay big wages, and footballers love money.

They can't all play in the Champions league so the next best thing is cash.
I know there are those who will say we don't want to be a mercenary club like a few of those above us. But that is why they are above us, it's just the way football is sadly.

Anyway I am taking a leaf out of the players book and going on holiday for a few months. Roll on next season, time to shed the skin and emerge bigger and stronger.

I hate to bang on about it but can we please get a sense of reality? We don't have the clout to pay the same wages nor the same sort of money on transfers that the 6 clubs above us can afford. Moshiri's money isn't the club's. We have to increase revenue before we can spend (I know there's a bit of leeway but it's not enough to put us on the same footing as the current top 6) . To bring our squad value up to that of the RS (the 'cheapest' of the top 6 squads) , we would have to spend £140 million more than they spend from now on. To match Man City, we would have to spend £400 million more than they spend. Not just spend those sums, but outspend those clubs by those amounts. Given that they currently have far greater annual revenue than us, and we have to fund a new stadium, how does anyone think that's happening? Moshiri is not Mansour and the rules have changed since he took over at City anyway. We'll make a profit on Lukaku, but nothing like enough. It's going to take a while and there are no guarantees. Give the club a chance - we're moving in the right direction. We have a savvy major shareholder, a great talent-spotter in Walsh, a good crop of young players coming through and a pragmatic, respected manager - all good; we don't have hundreds of millions to spunk on new players, which is almost always what it takes to win titles (Leicester were an anomaly - look at the weight of evidence, not the exception) . We've had a better season than last time and we have some cause for optimism, but it's counter-productive to be unrealistic and then turn on the club when we don't massively over-achieve. We are nowhere near in a position to compete financially with City, United and Chelsea. Anyone who thinks we are either doesn't understand the rules or doesn't understand numbers.

It's going to be an interesting summer transfer window.
I think RK saying last summer that we needed 3 keepers and then going through the season with 2 was a mistake that has cost us dearly.
It's fair to say that Gueye and Schneiderlin have been a success and that glimpses from Lookmam and Calvert-Lewin bode well for the future.
I still don't understand why we replaced a 22 year old John Stones with a 32 year old Ashley Williams, whose best years are clearly behind him. It's not his fault we signed him, but he gets caught out too often by the ball over the top, he is far too slow and his distribution is dreadful.
I'm sure that there must have been better younger options available.
Bolasie also has failings, although he has the work-rate that Koeman demands, he is a stereotypical one trick pony of a winger, who will have a half decent game every one in five, but still produce a poor final ball.
It's been a decent season on the whole, but I hope a little more thought goes in to this summers window and that RK is big enough to admit to himself that a couple of his signings aren't quite up to scratch.
As for the summer wish list? well, I think that we all realise that it is getting bigger! A decent keeper is an absolute priority. Cover at Right Back, Holgate has done well, but he clearly has a future at Centre Back. Speaking of Centre Backs, either Keane or Van Dijk and A. N. Other would be great, or preferably both Keane and Van Dijk! An attacking Centre Mid and depending on departures, at least one if not two consistent wide men and if Rom stays at least one Striker, if he leaves then at least two will do for starters.
One final point. I hope that next season that we have the confidence to go at the so-called bigger clubs rather than pay them too much respect.

{Ed025's Note - except for the bolasie bit i appreciate what your saying shropshire..

01 May 2017 16:44:31
Bit harsh on Bolasie, the lad seemed to be just settling in when he got that bad injury so the jury should still be out until he has regained his fitness and gets a few games under his belt. Not too sure on AW myself but he always looked decent at Swansea and when playing for Wales. Maybe a proper rest over this summer will have him back to the levels which got him his move to us. Last years euro's could have affected him and possibly just needs a rest.

01 May 2017 18:48:03
Not sure how Shropshire can have that opinion of Bolasie either perhaps he is getting him mixed up with someone else. Go to all the home games and Bolasie for me (apart from his season/ year ending injury) has been a success. Perhaps he meant Valencia.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 May 2017 20:14:56
Football is all about opinions. Bolasie's endeavour can't be faulted, but he tries too may tricks that don't come off, tries to beat a man too many times and when he does his final ball is often poor. I do accept that it is difficult to find a consistent winger, but I do expect better deliveries.
I really hope that he fully recovers from his injury and goes on to prove me wrong. I just hope that he doesn't lose a yard of pace. I will of course be behind him 100% when he plays, as I am every player who pull on the blue jersey.
As I said, its all about opinions and I respect everyones right to have one and would never resort to sarcasm simply because I don't agree.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 May 2017 12:26:03
If you look at Bolasie and the effort he puts in to every game he played then compare to Kev, Lennon and Ged he is in a different class.

I believe we have missed him more than any other player. I expect Koeman to address our attack this season but there are many areas that need attention to help us compete with the teams above. It's going to be tough.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 May 2017 14:24:18
As a neutral, I can't believe how negative some of you lot are! Reading this page, I'd have thought yesterday's result relegated you! Give Koeman the finances and he'll have you fighting for top four next season, can almost guarantee it. And I'll even stick my neck on the chopping block and say that is both with Lukaku and without Lukaku. I was very impressed in general by your lot yesterday, ultimately one moment of brilliance changed the game.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - to be fair CFC we have played a lot better at home this season, we missed schneiderlin big time and i hoped to have given you a sterner test to be honest mate..

01 May 2017 15:33:36
Totally agree Cfcforever. Especially with the Lukaku comment. There was no top 6 this year. Chelsea were way out on their own.

The bridge between us and Chelsea is big. The gap between us Utd and Arsenal, not so big. I expect us to be every bit as good if not better than those 2 next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 May 2017 15:39:08
Mmmm let me think. Chelsea last season when players all downed tools. Fans were right behind them then, weren't they?

Agree2 Disagree2

01 May 2017 17:33:47
Chelsea will ultimately find it more difficult next season with the UCL to contend with, which should make them a bit less dominating. I'm still not convinced by Man who and anyway they only have one more good season to go before the mourinho curse kicks in. Arsenal need to spend big or they will be sucked out of the top 5/ 6. We should be hopeful that with some good signings we can have a good shot at breaking into the top 4. Onwards and upwards.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 May 2017 15:14:11
Can understand that, Schneiderlin is a big loss, was happy to not see his name in the squad (presumably injured? ) , but afterwards talking to a lot of Chelsea fans, we felt it was arguably the best away performance of the season (alongside Leicester in January) .
Ed025, two questions if you will. 1) Would you rather keep Lukaku or sell for £75m+? and 2) Would you take Rooney if he was available on a free and would take a wage cut?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i would keep romelu CFC as strikers who score as regularly as him are priceless, it would be a no from me on wazza as i think hes past his best and even on a free he is cluttering up a space that will hopefully be filled by a hungry quality player mate..

01 May 2017 10:00:05
After watching this season i believe the job in hand is a lot bigger than most thought. There is just not enough passion and desire in some players and our so called top players are not performing against top sides. The goal keepers are no where near good enough and i still believe we need 2 good CB.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

01 May 2017 10:50:34
Spikey, so what your saying is we didn't improve at all?

Can't get over some people. When we have a bad result or performance people go on a complete downer. We were toe to toe with Chelsea up until there first goal.

Not bad as Chelsea have ran away with the league. No one looked like catching since 2016. They are clearly the better team in the premiership this season.

Everton on the other hand were absolutely dire last season. This season we have improved so much. If we were all told before the season started that we would finish 7th would anyone refuse it?

Didn't think so. Breaking into the top 6 is not easy. Especially with the shambles our last manager left us in. Imho the best people possible are in place to make it happen.

Whoever thought it would happen in one season needs there head examined. Next season I expect us to be even closer to if not in the elite group and possibly getting into the champions league.

Hell we are in Europe next season and some people think that's an underachievement. Some people will never be happy. Just read Cfcforever post below. A neutral observer. Even he can see how close we are to breaking into the top of the pile.

Onwards and upwards we will go. Bring on next season.

NBTB is right, we did battle but 2 things, 1. Chelsea are a very very good side. 2. In the back of their minds the Squad are on the beach, they cannot be caught in 7th and they cannot get 6th, like it or not that is human nature.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 May 2017 12:46:56
I agree. Everyone who has been brought in has improved the squad. The problem is too many of the players already here before RK aren't top 6 quality. Until Barkley and Rom can make something happen against the top 6 then they will never make the next step. Davies looks like he will be able to in a couple more years. Gana and Schneidelin are class, Coleman and Baines are consistent. and these are the players we must build around. They can all cut it in the top 6 and all have a passion to play for us. all we need to do is add a few more of these types of players throughout the various positions and we should be able to tackle the top 4.
With the Lukaku money we only have to replace his goals as he doesn't bring anything else to the party. He will be a big miss but none of the other teams above us have humans they have managed.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 May 2017 14:35:04
Well said NBTB. Everything going on at the club is positive at the moment. We may not win any of our last games now but who cares. It's all about next season now.

Well before today, my only other visit to Merseyside was that fateful April day at Anfield three seasons ago. Have to say I really enjoyed my away day (winning did help! ) but you have a great classic stadium and I want to try and get to Goodison at least once more before you move to Bramley Moore Docks.
My two-penneth on the game. As a Chelsea fan, if you'd have told me at the start of the season the aggregate score against Everton would be 8-0 in our favour, I would have laughed. Koeman is clearly taking you forward, and you gave a good game from 65 minutes. Davies, Gana are both top quality, Barkley is clearly very frustrating, he can be brilliant or terrible and gave the ball away far too much. Thought Calvert-Lewin started well but faded badly, Lukaku fared the same way, Valencia isn't good enough. Back four was solid enough up till 1-0, looked a bit ragged afterwards. Stekelenburg needs replacing with a top keeper. Ultimately, our squad depth and quality told, very few sides can bring on a £25m midfielder, solid young CB and £30m winger to change games. Keep at it, certainly got a really good young bunch. I'd say a top GK, decent rotation CB, a backup fullback, one other top midfielder and you'll have an excellent chance next season at top 4. All in all, a great day out, and your fans made a lot of noise as well, not quite the full Goodison atmosphere but still very decent. Credit to all you lot and best of luck for the rest of the season Ed025, you play better football than Utd and Arsenal and deserve Europe over them both.
Also, the pies at your place are bloody good!

Hi Ed what do you make of Ross, he was not at the races again today mate cheers GuernseyBlue.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i thought he was poor GB, he was not the only one though in fact only davies cut the mustard out there yesterday, i think they all started their holidays early mate..

01 May 2017 07:07:17
Barkley was poor no doubt, I'll give Davies credit for 100 % effort but he gave the ball away nearly every time!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats a bit unfair getsy, tom did misplace a few passes but thats because he was involved in everything, not many of them turned up yesterday mate but that cant be said about davies..

01 May 2017 09:38:39
Ross just cannot cut it against top teams unfortunately, and cannot make a game his own like great players do. We need good players but ones that are consistent over the season. I say go all out for siggurdson, the lad has scored goals away from home against city, Utd, arsenal, Liverpool and us this season and this is what we need more of. Take the money and spend it well and we will never loom back.

I think Holgate did ok as well as did Gueye who did an excellent job on Hazard apart from those 3 no other player turned up.

Barkley frustrates the hell out of me. Unplayable once every 5-6 games, poor or average the rest. Turning on the ball seems to take an eternity, never seems to use his left foot, which could possibly speed up turning on the ball, runs onto trouble a lot now too. His powerful, surging runs seemed to of stopped now. I'd like him to stay, but if sigurdson was bought, Barkley would be and good sub off the bench, or play along side sigurdson. Criticism of Davies is unfair, considering he was trying to do his job against a very good Chelsea side, and and to my eyes, Barkley job too. Defence needs a complete shake up, wingers and general forwards are needed. Spell on the bench, with maybe Dowell or Walsh given opportunity behind Rom.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 May 2017 12:56:03
It wasn't a good performance by any means except maybe gueye who did a very good job on hazard! Imo Davies didn't have a great game! Against a good Chelsea team. But your trying to say say that's ok because he tried? Barkley had a stinker and I totally agree with you that he is very frustrating but as per usual he's getting it all in the neck again!
