I never expected us to get a result at Arsenal. I hoped that we might, but I never expected it (especially as this fixture came after a Europa League tie), so I'm not as angry about losing today as I have been with far too many other bad results (and numerous poor performances) this season.
On the other hand, I expected the usual post-match spin, excuses and rationalising from RM. I hoped not, but I expected it, so I'm not in the least surprised by his comments. I am disappointed that he thinks we played without "intent", as it's surely up to him to select, prepare, motivate and give "intent" to the team. If he can't do it, then we need a manager that can - and can start doing that PDQ!
Just think - all those mouthwatering fixtures in the Championship next season and that with our squad bereft of quality (the better players having been sold to compensate for the loss of TV money as I fear that we'll remain stuck outside the Premier League for a long time) and the ground move collapsing due to lack of investment funds and the agonising decline as we become yet another club that is just a footnote in history. I admire the loyalty of BK (could this be just like DM's second season syndrome), but it looks like we're risking the future of the club because of misguided loyalties, wishful thinking, and a belief in the questionable effectiveness of strongly held footballing principles.

First 20mins we have 60/70% possession do nothing with it then go on to lose the game. RM then comes out and says how unlucky we were, and how we were always in the game. In this league possession wins nothing, but goals do, and you can't score goals if you go backwards. I hate saying this but part of me wants us to lose in Europe, because I can only think that this is the only reason he hasn't been sacked. We can only thank god there are teams worse than us that will probably keep us up. Hate the way I feel right now.

Mr Bean doesn't seem to see the dire position we are in.
He doesn't hear the opinion of the fans or doesn't want to,

Our miserable pathetic record continues @ the home of the gunners in fact never won @ Emirates, 20 yrs since we've tasted victory on their patch similar story @ Anfield & Stamford bridge.
Arsenal had the crowd on their back for large parts of the match after their showing against Monaco midweek & were there for the taking.
For whatever reason once again we weren't up 4 it switched off @ a corner Olivier Giroud bang1-0 it lights out goodnight.
Giroud had a nightmare against Monaco mid week but always comes up trumps against us.
Besic, barry, Mcarthy all to similar holding midfielders offer nothing going fwd to set us up in the final 3rd all to predictable passing side to side or back to Howard instead of being positive don't even lift their head & pick a pass & none of the above have scored a goal between em this season.
1 league victory now out of 11 worrying times indeed & I don't see us getting anything on wed @ Stoke either.
We've got Martinez @ the helm making Everton laughing stock playing relegation football the Wigan way.
Never mind eh Martinez, Kone, alcatrash, Mcarthy & robles have there before sinking like the titanic

Quite disturbing that Martinez has claimed the players aren't enjoying the league games. In case he hadn't noticed, us fans aren't either and we have to pay to watch them, not get paid to go through the motions like them. Changes are needed and time is running out. Gibson, whom I'm no big fan of, is the only one who likes to pass forward in the hope of creating a scoring opportunity. Why did he not play instead of Barry? You know GB is having no influence on a game when he doesn't get a yellow card. Playing Ross on the wing is criminal, he can't play there. Lennon looked lively when he got a cameo but he is a winger. Play players in their right positions Bobby ffs. Besic must wonder why he bothers as he's either on the bench or getting subbed every game. The only positive we can take is that Garbutt is a great talent. Knowing us though, he will end up signing for somebody else as we didn't do enough to keep him! I'm depressed, time for a stella.

Reading all the texts about today's game at Arsenal it is blatantly obvious that most Blues fans are now finally seeing the light! Mr Nice Guy will be responsible for taking our famous old Club down to the Championship & believe me, if we do go down, and it is now a reality, we will find it very hard to come back up because this bunch of players won't be good enough and we will struggle.I think Mirallas is fed up being in & out of the team & being subbed all the time.If Kenwright worries about funds for the Club now, what's he going to do when all the Premier League money disappears? Managers with poor records have already been sacked this season. We can't buy a win & only have 7th it's since Christmas! Forget Ross Barkley he isn't good enough & never will be. Lukaku is permanently offside, never gets his head up & for me needs to lose weight & will never be worth £28th. Sign Schmeichel from Leicester, maybe Winston Reid from West Ham. and at least start playing with 2 strikers especially at Goodison. not one playing just behind Lukaku, playing up alongside. permanently! I now genuinely fear for Everton now while Martinez is in charge. His results warrant him being sacked. but who would Blues fans like to see replace him? Me. I would love to see someone like Frank De Bore. COYB

That is not bad luck, bad desisions, or injuries, it's HIM.Please bill, get rid of this fraud, whilst there is still time to save our club.

last night I watched Everton playing sunderland a young man named rooney yes remember the name wayne rooney lose the ball and ran 75 yards to win it back fast forward to the emirates I watched an overated player by the name of ross barkley lose the ball more times in one game than rooney at 16 lost in 5 or 6 when wearing the blue shirt and stood and waited for somebody to win it back so he could lose it again i'm sorry but he should be left out for a few games and earn the right to play again now I know people will come on and have ago that's there right but please aknowledge that this is not a 16 year old player he's 21 years and still making the same poor choices when in possesion I know some will say what about lukaku but if barkley is the link up man why stand 8 to 10 yards off him and leave him isolated over to you ed

I like everyone else cannot wait for this season to be over and hope we are still in the premier league. All this talk about kenwright not sacking bobby because we'll have to pay compensation, well we'll lose more if we go down. Also, surely in this day and age where football is a results driven business, it should be written into a managers contract that if certain points aren't met within certain games, then you've failed to do your job to the agreed terms of your employment. Thus employers can terminate employment without having to hand over a pay off. I know if I went for a job and promised everything in the interview and am pretty much doing the exact opposite to what I was employed to do, my boss would show me the door pretty fast

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - football does not conform to rules like that ray...moyes had a mare at united and got a £10m pay off...good work if you can get it mate..

01 Mar 2015 17:28:44
I understand that Ed, but it should conform to it like everyone else. If you can't do your job to the level you said you can then bye bye. Ie, we'll make the champions league, yet we're fighting a relegation battle. There's no difference with that and going to a restaurant where a new chef says he can cook and yet gives everyone food poison because he runs a dirty crappy kitchen. You can be sure he'd be sacked before restaurant went out of business. Its the same story but people involved in footie are treated like they're more important than the regular Joe soap

01 Mar 2015 16:30:35
I try so hard to take positives but it's really hard sometimes. Yes we battled well at times today but we were set up to fail before the game kicked off. Why does he continue to play Barkley on the wing when it clearly isn't working. Why does he continue to play Barry when we clearly have better options. Why does he continue picking a keeper that is conceding goals that a hung over Sunday league keeper would save. It's a shame this squad we've got would be capable of doing things Only thing that's missing is a manager with common sense

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - hard to argue with that kingy mate..

01 Mar 2015 16:33:14
Couple of points.

Garbutt needs to keep his place, his dead ball play has been better than any other everton player all season and can defend.

Mirallas and besic need to finish the games and not be subbed! For all his antics mirallas is a match winner.

Lukaku is one of the easiest strikers to play against for a defender! Just plain and simple laziness! Can't keep onside ever! Start kone he might just put some away.

Barkley. What does he offer the team? Clearly his confidence is low, needs to be taken out of the spotlight and benched for a few games.

Martinez. Slowly but surely ruining the club, poor tatics poor subs, is it any wonder players are unhappy and thinking about leaving?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - again hard to argue with mate..

Another week passes by with another defeat and no points. It was always going to be a bonus to get something today but when your dropping points at home to dross like leicester and the like it makes games like this must win. Were now 11 pts off the top half and spiralling towards the bottom 3 more by the week. Its absoloutley outragous that were in this position with this group of players after giving mattinez the biggest transfer warchest in our history. what's making me more angry than anything else is that there seems to be absoloutley no repecusions what so ever for him. Kenwright has no intentions at all of sacking this clown, meanwhile a 70 year top flight record is about to be wiped out by a man who has taken a regular top 7 team, spent a small fortune and actually made us worse. i'm sick to the stomach of this whole mess.

01 Mar 2015 16:07:00
Whatever the spin that RM will put on today's performance against Arsenal, it's results that count and that's yet another defeat - and another poor result following a Europa League fixture to boot!
There can't be any confidence that we'll get anything at Stoke, so we're likely to be going into the FA Cup break well and truly in the relegation mix.
Don't worry though - RM is making sure we're not playing "parasite" football (even though those teams he's criticising are getting results and moving away from the bottom of the table) AND he is making sure we have "phenomenal" and "perfect" Europa League performances (although any of the remaining quality sides would no doubt easily see us off).
Champions League? We were having a laugh!
Championship? We're on our way with Bobby's army!

01 Mar 2015 16:28:16
Ed025: I've been increasingly annoyed this season by RM's complaining - about referees, travelling, etc. - and, in my humble (and biased!) opinion, he really took the biscuit by complaining about "parasite" teams. Well, Mr Martinez, two of those teams (WestBrom and Leicester) recently held us to draws when those fixtures should really have been two home bankers for us. All the spin and other empty words count for nothing - it's only results and points that'll preserve our sixty years to date of top-tier football. As it stands, RM will carry on with his stubborn ways and views and we would be regarded as the best side ever to be relegated - which is bo****ks since we'll get what our play throughout the season deserves. I'm just hoping that there are three sides who are statistically worse than us at the end of the season. I don't see RM doing anything himself to change things - although, as a loyal Evertonian wanting only the best for our club, I hope that myself and other doubters have to eat a large helping of humble pie after the final fixture.

None of our starting midfield has anything close to a reasonable scoring record. If all we want to do is Nick draws then don't bother playing forwards. Oh and would have been a good idea to have someone on the post for corners. Boring, boring, boring.

Bill Kenwright has to take some responsibility for this and that is why he will not come out and comment. As has already been said Roberto says Arsenal play openly so what does he do, drops Gibson who can actually pass the ball and plays with 3 defensive midfielders. Looking forward to Martinez after match chat Nort!!!!

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Mar 2015 15:46:38
The biggest difference I'm seeing between these teams is how much our players 'stand off' and 'watch' their players on the ball from that 1-2 yard distance - we 'watch' as they hold the ball at their feet and look around for the pass / move - when we have the ball at feet they are in close snapping away at ankles and trying to nick the ball - it sounds like a small thing but it's a massive difference - if I was an opponent I'd love playing against everton as we stand off and watch the opponent when he has the ball - if you get time and space on the ball it becomes an easy game

Martinez your team selection, formation and tactics yet again baffle beyond belief, if on the off chance any of the back room staff read posts from this forum please for the love of everything Everton please point out to the smiling clown that:
1. Why continue to play a GK that has become inept at positioning or keeping a clean sheet when Robles who started to prove he could do just that is sat on the bench wondering wtf is going on.
2. G Barry is a constant card waiting to happen, not the player he was for us last season and the sooner he is suspended the better, Gibson coming back into some decent form is an obvious shoe in.
3. Barkley for the life of me never has been, never will be a wide player, if you can't give him free reign through the middle you may as well leave him to sit on the bench, Jesus H Christ we have Lennon and Mirallas as obvious wide men.
4. Then there's Naismith, he must be sat on the bench thinking wtf is going on?

Because of you Martinez I'm sat at home pulling my hair out and self harming, 25 mins to go someone please make me eat humble pie!
