What's going on lads?
Brilliant performance against a team at the top of the Championship, the press would have been holding on to print the back page if we'd have lost and we squashed them.
If Messi had done that step over dance of Del's it would have crashed Utube.
COYB!

{Ed025's Note - great night mushy..

I know Osman wasn't impressive but his first full game under his belt since he came back. Clev back as well. Competition is very good at the moment. Need plenty of competition if we're ever going to win anything.

As for Mirallas just don't get it. There is obviously something going on behind the scenes that know one knows about.

Good performance all round. Makes you wonder where we'd be this season only for Del boy. He's just fantastic. Love watching him. Best thing is he's only going to get better 😃.

He played vs Norwich?

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Dec 2015 23:09:06
Ok Swan he played the Norwich game. So that's 2 games he has played. Past his best, definitely. Still a valuable squad member imo. Will do a job for the rest of this season at least.

We have plenty of young players. Experienced players are very valuable to help keep balance right. Osman has a good influence on those around him. Bit part player to help fill gabs and keep players that are starting on their toes.

Def worth having him around for that at least in my humble opinion.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - not for me im afraid NBTB, as part of the coaching staff yes, but keep him as far away from the playing staff as humanly possible for me mate..we cant afford passengers..

02 Dec 2015 00:34:55
Gibson could have been a better option than Osman,

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - so could mr blobby paul.. :)

02 Dec 2015 10:26:25
Ive always been a big fan of Ozzie, grew up with his family and we all know each other well so have always defended the lad, unfortunately this will be his last season, but for me he must be kept on the coaching staff, even though he was a red when he was younger he has been a loyal Blue and played with his heart on his sleeve since he signed, I hope he proves me wrong though.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Dec 2015 10:46:43
Paul imp I agree Gibson would be better. Still wouldn't be knocking Osman. Only back from injury. Have to give the lad a chance. Plenty of people wrote Barry off at the beginning of the season. Saying he's too old and past it.

He's arguably been the best most consistent player so far this season.

Agree2 Disagree2

02 Dec 2015 09:28:27
I'm not getting involved for obvious reasons! OK Yes I am. Show the guy a little respect. He knows as well as anyone that he is now past his sell by date, but a one man club who has been 1100% loyal never looking to move and always gives 100%. Yes he should only be used as sub or cameo roles but he is as Evertonian as you and me. He will hang his boots soon and I for one will be glad he put our shirt on. let's put it this way. a fraction of the talent of Rooney. but a million times more loyalty!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he has been a great servant degs but his legs have gone now mate, which is why im advocating a coaching role for him, he still has a lot to offer but im afraid its not on the pitch now mate..

02 Dec 2015 16:45:58
Often overlooked but Ossie was the best ball player at the Club and as far as it goes is still probably just behind Del Boy and Stones.

Agree1 Disagree2

01 Dec 2015 21:55:25
Joel-7-Great having a keeper who can catch and actually kick the ball.

Coleman-7-Good, just good.

Stones-9-Majestic beauty this lad is.

Funes Mori-8-Some of his passes genuinely frightened me but was solid throughout.

Galloway-7-Caused no problems at all.

Barry-9-Ran the show as usual, gets stick but is absolutely top class.

Osman-4.5-Most of our failed attacks were not down to good defending by Boro, it was Osman's inability to control a ball. He's weak as a feather with the flu and falls over more than a character in a slapstick cartoon.

Cleverley-6-Did nothing wrong but looked off the pace.

Deulofeu-8.5-Won us the game, he's brilliant.

Barkley-6-Takes too long on the ball and seems dead stiff when running with it.

Lukaku-7-Good header.

Baines-6-Good to see him back

Mirallas-6-Didnt get sent off, amazing.

Naismith-6-

Happy with that, good performance and just relieved we're through.

And me just happy, question I would love the answer to, went 2-0 up again in the first half and took our foot off the pedal yet again. Middlesborough are a good side and we should not take liberties. The top sides keep up the pressure until the final whistle. The old adage of the best form of defence is attack and has been proven time and time again to be solid. We are a class side with a good Squad, let's be consistent.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree DM..

01 Dec 2015 22:29:30
Swan: I agree about Barry - he was immense yet again. If he was carrying an injury from Bournemouth, then all the more impressive.
If Funes Mori thinks that he's already as good a ball-playing centre-back as Stones, then somebody needs to have a word with him.
I agree that Osman wasn't great, but I think your rating is very, very harsh - a 5.5 would be fairer.
Good to see Cleverley get a full run-out.
Great to see Baines back. Galloway has done well and will be all th better for this early Premier League experience, but Baines is important to our play. Just wish he hadn't got himself yellow-carded - albeit when Deulofeu did get "elbowed". Also just wish that Deulofeu wasn't so theatrical when fouled - it's doing him no favours even when he clearly has been done.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Dec 2015 21:55:16
Good result, professional performance, a clean sheet, our superior quality (especially in attack) was clear, Barry was immense (as so often this season) , Deulofeu. was mesmeric yet again, our away support was terrific (it certainly helps their mood and enthusiasm and edginess if we're winning! ) . Job done!
Let's see who we draw in the semi-final, but over two legs we shouldn't really fear anyone. However, plenty of Premier League matches to concentrate on before the semi-final. Firstly, we've now got the best part of a week to recover and prepare for next Monday evening's match.
No complaints from anyone tonight I'd imagine ;-)

Right give me any of the teams left in this cup in the semies except City really don't want them, I know it's 2 legs but don't want them anyway I'm going to enjoy this moment something to look forward to COYB.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - dont get me wrong im made up with the win, but we need to kill off games like this when we are on top, second half we switched off again and rom was a forlorn figure up front with no intent to attack...it invites pressure, i was also not happy with the substitutions, ozzie im afraid gave us nothing and clevs was out on his feet after 45 mins, i would have liked to have seen kev and gibbo on for the second half myself, but hey were through so happy days..

01 Dec 2015 22:24:48
Ed0025: blimey, mate! We won the match and kept a clean sheet, so in my humble opinion all of the "what ifs" and "could haves" are countered by the fact that RM and the players clearly did their job tonight. especially as we say "it's a results business" and they got a well-earned win.

Accentuate the positive. too many times, we Evertonians wallow in depression and fatalistic feelings about the club's failings on and off the pitch (and I include myself as a prime culprit in whinging! ) , so let's learn to enjoy these good moments, without becoming arrogant like some clubs' fans (no names, no pack drill, but you know who those are) !

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - yeah me tonight sid..sorry mate i just want us to batter someone so that other teams say "wow did you see everton", it was a fine win and i should show a better example than to moan..

01 Dec 2015 22:35:33
Your right ed we just seem to think grab two and the game is won I really can't get my head around that one and it has to change, against a better team tonight I'm afraid it would have gone horribly wrong sitting back only invites the pressure on and gives the opposition fans a chance to recoup and get behind there team. Clevs is not match fit Ozzie I'm afraid this is his last season with us great servant though but wish him luck whatever he decides to do. Gibson I like cause he has the eye for a pass pity he is injury prone, Mirallas I'm again afraid he is gone but for different reasons than Ozzie there is something not right with him and Martinez shame cause he has so much more football left in him, and I think we will regret letting him go. But we are through to a semi final and it was great to see Baines back I forgot about him for a while.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree with all of that stef mate..

02 Dec 2015 13:18:58
I happen to agree with you Ed0025.Yes its great that were through without to much fuss in the end, but why take our foot off the gas? we did it at Bournemouth and look what happened we did it again last night, if boro would of got a goal back the pressure would of been on. And it does invite pressure as you say. I would love us to tank someone good style, make people and other teams to sit up and take notice.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i just dont know why the plan at 2-0 is not to get another one and put the game to bed jimmy?, im not saying go gung-ho and all out attack, just dont sit back and invite them to take the initiative mate..still very happy with the win though..

01 Dec 2015 21:39:20
We've got a semi on.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - love it RIB..

Southampton in next round would be great,2nd leg at home. probably city in final.

01 Dec 2015 22:37:02
Hope City go out mate don't want them anywhere near the final if we are there.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Dec 2015 21:10:51
If we go on and reach the final and go to Wembley will RM drop Joel for Howard after all Joel has played in most of are cup games and don't think he would be to happy me either.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Dec 2015 21:49:31
Yes he will drop him mate and that is a fact.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - more,s the pity stef..

01 Dec 2015 22:06:36
He kept robles in for the final when wigan won the fa cup, so hopefully robles will play all cup games this season. He done enough again tonight to allow defence to pass it about.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Dec 2015 18:46:18
Doubt he will drop him.

01 Dec 2015 21:54:55
Great result, but I thought we were very sloppy with our passing all over the pitch. Stones took too many unnecessary chances.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Dec 2015 20:33:42
Absolute quality come on second half don't sit back go for for more.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - great considering we have 8 men...clevs is not up to speed 1st game back and all that, ozzie like a rabbit caught in the headlights, and ross thinking he is out for a sunday stroll...But im not moaning.. ;)

01 Dec 2015 20:44:58
Totally agree Ed. At least we are winning eh. Barkley is one of my favourite, is very young and is still learning. Will turn out to be a top player.

But looking at that first half he has learned nothing from Sat. Lost the ball twice and looked like he didn't give a jot. They had a decent chance from both of them.

Something seriously not right with Mirallas. I thought Martinez was easing him back in after injury and suspension but at this stage I'd be pissed off if I was Kev.

Good performance so far. Hopefully the second half is as good.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im very happy NBTB. i just dont want us to get sloppy like we did on saturday mate..

01 Dec 2015 20:58:25
Ditto.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Dec 2015 19:10:54
Kev definitely off, even Leon bloody Osman is ahead of him. Why not play Clevz or Gibbo centre mid? Does Osman have Martinez's nudes or something, absolute joke.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - lets see how he does before we slate him swan, you never know mate he might just have a blinder...i agree that kevs days seem numbered..

01 Dec 2015 21:07:35
Been the worst player on the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Dec 2015 19:04:10
I would of picked super kev over the clever. Otherwise good team. Coyb's.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i would have swapped him for ozzy myself zulu..

01 Dec 2015 19:13:18
I guess we can be fairly sure he's going somewhere then. Good luck to him, let's hope we can replace him with someone a bit more consistent.

01 Dec 2015 18:50:08
Quality line-up. Go at them and we'll blow them away. Get in there Gerry. COYB.

01 Dec 2015 08:21:48
Massive game tonight, on our day we should fear no one so this competition is so important. My only fear is that he will make one to many changes or try an experiment like Lennon at full back, please no! we can win this RM!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - it wont be easy wakka boro are a decent side, i would like to think we have enough to see them off though, thats if there is not too much tinkering with the team, we really need this and failure will only fuel the fire for those looking to end bobbys tenure..

01 Dec 2015 12:41:29
Agreed Ed0025, this is our best chance of a trophy in several years we have the best balanced team for a while and options on the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - now is the time wakka, boro are a pretty decent team but the team have the quality to get past them, its time to stand up and be counted guys..COYB

01 Dec 2015 14:16:45
Before Saturday I was way way confident of this match, that's gone to hell now Ed, not even betting on this one and that's bad for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - have confidence degs...we will win mate..

01 Dec 2015 15:41:05
ok Ed you convinced me, usual bet going on, Lukaku last goal, think I may throw Mirallas in for the first goal as he must surely get a game mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - 3-0 for me degs, lukaku 1st goal (pen)..

01 Dec 2015 18:03:04
3-0 Ed. listen, I'm always optimistic but that score line is making me blush mate ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im always here to be shot at ace, we will whallop them mate.. :)

01 Dec 2015 18:51:50
I'm optimistic, like my prediction below. True Everton style this season we'll go out tonight and blow them away seeing what happened last Saturday. Hopefully anyway.
