So what's going on with all this James McCarthy to Manchester United rumours? Anyone in the know here? Why the sudden rush of bets today on it happening? Hope it's not true, thought he was our best player last season, & would make a great future club captain! :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have heard a few rumours he is one of a few players they are looking at. Apparently they are tryin to get vidal but won't pay £50M. he is a back up option. Everton will not sell for less than £30 but are offering him the same wages as Ross. don't know how true it is but person who told me also told me about rom signin. I'd get big dunc to do a brando an put JMc an stones in a closed room with new contracts & "make them an offer they can't refuse"

Agree0 Disagree0

Obv I mean £30 million. & not £30. the M never worked. before somebody jumps all over it

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope I am wrong but Won't Besic play a similar position and get a 20 mil profit for us?

Agree0 Disagree0

Isn't it funny how a couple of weeks ago some of us were getting all edgy and snappy. No signings and people being critical of posts. Now, we are all floating on cloud 9 and looking forwards to the new season. A couple more signings and we will be positively purring. COYB

I usually toe the party line and support RM, BK and the club in their decisions about who comes and goes, but I wish that the club would quash all these rumours about McCarthy leaving and announce that he's signed an extended contract here. Then get Stones on an extended contract also.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2014 20:55:26
What's now important is who's RM bringing in as No 2 striker Lukaku needs competition and Naisey and Kone aren't the answer!

Atsu is off the African Nations Cup in January, seems a strange move to me to loan a player that's going to miss a lot of our run in

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good point

Agree0 Disagree0

The 2015 Africa Cup of Nations runs from Saturday, 17th January, to Sunday, 8th February.
Our Premier League fixtures during this period are:
17th January - West Bromwich Albion (home)
31st January - Crystal Palace (away)
7th February - Liverpool (home)
If we progress in the cup competitions, there'll be these fixtures:
20th/21st January is scheduled for the Football League Cup (Capital One Cup) semi-finals 1st leg
24th January is scheduled for the FA Cup 4th round
27th/28th January is scheduled for the Football League Cup (Capital One Cup) semi-finals 2nd leg
The UEFA Europa League restarts on 19th February with the round-of-32 - so isn't affected by the Africa Cup of Nations.
So, would the absence of a couple of players (Kone and maybe Atsu) be a major problem?

Agree0 Disagree0

Factual as ever Cowpat and thanks for that. If Atsu is as good as I'm led to believe, this is a loan signing worth looking at? I think so!

To be fair if his heart was the problem then he should sign for the blues he. no ones heart would be in for playing for the Red rubbish.

Don't like to admit it but I think Liverpool have made some really good signings this summer now there close to Moreno and Koponoloka check spelling, I know this is our site but if it was any other team signing them players someone would of mentioned it and gave them credit, anyway I'm delighted with our signings so far and believe Bobby has more tricks up his sleeve, it is going to be a fantastic derby this season both teams will have absolute quality on the pitch I really hope Merseyside dominates the prem this year, and obviously us being ahead of them either way but both clubs are looking really strong going into next season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - you may be right stef, but i will never give them credit mate...i have spent 56 years of getting nothing but grief off them, so excuse me if i wish them to fall flat on their faces..

Am with you Ed, the only time they have ever been anythin is when they were winning the lot and treated us like 2nd class. now were almost on the same standings the deludes hate us with a passion and I don't care who they are friends family I hate LFC with a passion

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont actually hate anyone ste...too strong a word for me, but i dont have any respect for the majority of them when it comes to football mate..

I understand were your coming from ed I have had many years of it aswell mate, but I have a couple of good mates who are reds and are very fair and honest, but I'm only saying the way I see it mate both clubs have fantastic squads this year and I'm really looking forward to seeing Garbutt try and break into our first team mate, exciting times ahead.

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually think Liverpool have made the same blunder that Spurs made last year? I'm a firm believer in replacing quality with quality and whilst I've no doubt the signings the Shi*e have made have potential they have gone for quantity and this can cause all types if issues within a squad. They (and spurs) should have spent the majority if the Suarez/Bale money on a direct replacement IMO. But hey what do I know I can't even pick a fantasy football team! Haha!

Agree0 Disagree0

No ebony and ivory harmony here, spat on in the kop because I had an efc top on pies lashed at me, am sure its is the same with them, my wife and daugther are red I love them with a passion, ( just hate, Dislike then the LFC influence in them lol ) coulnt really hate anyone lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool are eons ahead of us in both stature and saleability. They have a huge global market and are cash rich (compared to us anyway) they are a bigger club with a bigger market value than us. As much as it pains me to admit all of that it's true. You can be 2 ways as an Evertonian, a deluded one or an honest one. An honest, educated informed blue who knows his football is the only way to be if you want any credibility when talking football with them. To try and argue we are a bigger or better club than them is stupid because we are not. However we are who we are and we have our own identity. We're not full of glory hunting band wagon jumping fans who don't have a clue what they're talking about like our neighbours. (That excludes a certain ilk of Liverpool fans, some of them are decent and honest and well informed, these are usually the ones that go the game)

Agree0 Disagree0

Steblue. Hang your head in shame letting your wife turn your daughter blue. I would murder mine and bury her on the farmers fields by me if she even mentioned the word Liverpool in a good light. She was a red when I met her, she now despises them and comes the match every now and then and loves Everton. Education is the key my friend ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - my two lads are reds pb, kids will make their own decisions mate...in the end its only football..

01 Aug 2014 16:09:32
It's not the players, it's the manager. We have seen this ourselves. Liverpool will do well because BR is a good coach. We will do well because Bobby is also a good coach, as is Pochetino, AVB was pants which was why spurs were pants last season considering the players they bought.

The bottom line is this. The top 7 last season will be the top 7 this season. It's our goal to be within the top 4 of the top 7.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me, I feel that Liverpool have bought on an impulse and though they are strengthening their squad as a whole, they are barely strengthening their first team, and most importantly, finding a suitable replacement for the cannibal. It's easy enough for their fans to gloat because they can't handle the idea that a team, like Everton have been finishing above them in recent years whilst spending little to nothing. For me Suarez was the main reason they had such a good season last year, because singlehandedly he pulled them to victory in a large number of games, and of course won a lot of penalties, but the less said about that the better. For once in a long time, I feel that we have the strength to actually compete and break the top four. Personally, I have nothing against the club, it's just their fans, as after years of torment (helped by their investment), we are returning to our glory days (hopefully) and can finally compete with the so called 'big boys' who have spent money on ready made players, in order to win titles. It will be hard but I trust Roberto to do the right thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was just a jibe ed025 nothing meant in it. For the record though I would not allow my kids to be reds. I've drummed it into them, literally brainwashed the pair of them from the age of 2. Season tickets away games, bedrooms decorated, stories of the 80s stories of how horrible Liverpool are, I couldn't have my kids being reds. That is not being derogatory towards yourself mate I want to make sure I've pointed that out, each to their own and who am I to tell someone how to raise their kids? Shame on you as well though ;) ha ha

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i would love them to be blue pb, unfortunately they grew up in the 80,s when the reds were in their pomp, and bowed to peer pressure as at the time being a blue was not popular, but it does make for some interesting banter in our house, not letting your kids support who they want seems a bit draconian to me though, but as you say each to their own mate..

I'm a real life Victorian Dad when it comes to football Ed, I will hold my hands up and admit to that. Everything else they take the piss out of me already and are only 8 and 6 (nearly) don't listen to a blind word I say and giggle when I try and tell them off but speak kopite speak in my castle mate and this beast seems to come out in me. I'll have none of that talk here boy, now get back up that chimney and sing me 6 Everton songs ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - my 2 are 35 and 32 pb, and because they have furnished me with lovely grandchildren all is forgiven mate..

At the end of the day, if we convinced everyone to be a red or to be a blue then we wouldn't have our great banter and rivalry :)

As an evertonian its fantastic to sit back and watch bobby at work this summer. He clearly has a blueprint and knows exactly who he wants to fit in to it. He has said he wants 2 more attacking players one of which is likely to be atsu from what we've been told in the media. Wouldn't it be fantastic if the other one was remy? I believe that would make us genuine top 4 candidates even if just a loan. Were not far away now I trust bobby completley.

Atsu looks good. Ed what's the latest?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - talks are ongoing conh, i expect it to happen very shortly, chelsea need to get rid of a foreign player and they have decided its atsu, we are big favorites for him mate..

Is it a loan Ed?

Whilst we have had a good week with the signings of Besic, Berkley and Lukaku, I am worried that our starting eleven, as things stand, will be the same as last season. We will certainly have more depth this year but I feel we need to bring in another couple of players who will improve the quality of the first eleven. However, this seems unlikely - I suspect any further additions now will be squad players. Any views? Pips

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We don't really need any first 11 players except maybe LW although Mcgeady or piennar could step up. Depth has always been our problem we still need a back up ST a winger and a better back up GK to compete on all fronts

I am made up rom has joined, but he needs to keep his head down, I don't care about his arguments with mourinho and his spats with chelsea, he's representing everton now and while he wears that shirt he should be focused on us so he must not be bitter about chelsea and hopefully he will keep his mouth shut because nothing matters more than this club right here right now, your with us now rom, time to start growing up, leave the past behind and get yourself ready for next season, we, everton are right in front of you, don't drone on about what could of been

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bit unfair that Swan , have you watched any of his interviews? He was pushed on Chelsea and alls he said was he has no bad feelings towards them and alls he wants to do is play for Everton and how he feels he belongs here. Give the lad a chance eh.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with you Swan. He's now an Evertonian. He might feel bitter about Chelsea and the way he's been treated by Maureen but there's no better way to repay the 'chosen one' by stuffing them with at least a couple of goals in the first fixture at Goodison in September

just been havin a flick through Spuds pages, came across this little beauty.

I'm really annoyed we didn't try for Lukaku. He's too good for Everton and probably us but we at least could have offered him more money and better players to play with! Gutted.

ive asked the OP to let us know what players they have better than ours, should be interesting if he replies

degs

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - their back up keeper is degs...but thats it..

01 Aug 2014 08:43:48
Dont worry mate, just last week one of them said they should get james rodriguez, persons

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm an up and coming top striker in the making and .

well you get the idea .

and me and my agent look at Spurs in a cold clinical pragmatic way.

Mauricio Pochettino? he ticks the right boxes.

However they (Levy & Co. ) will probably get shut before Iv'e tied my boot laces .

If clubs = Sovereign States then THFC would =

Batista's 1950's Cuba.

Michael Corleone wisely gave it a miss.

I say to my agent yeah! it's business not personal.

Spuds suck big time!

The Toffees look like a club on the move.

Childs play and a discussion like this would take seconds to resolve.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - the galloway deal is very close al, and i agree we got stiffed with the kit deal mate, hopefully we have a great season again and can get it ripped up..

01 Aug 2014 08:44:32
When will we sign someone ffs

I'm an Irish toffee and this year will b the first time in 3 years that the jersey(home only)will b available to buy in some sports shops,so I suppose something has changed a little with the umbro deal.

Hi guys, I'm new to this. I'd just like an opinion. Would any of you have Ronaldinho on a free? I for one think he could help with shirt sales, and could be a decent squad player, perhaps a mentor for the younger players like Ross. However he probably has huge wages.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I looked into this the other day for the Celtic site, Bloo. Believe it or not, Ronaldinho's current wages at Mineiro are circa £24/25k a week although there is the potential to earn a further circa £250,000 p.a. in bonuses. Whether he would be happy with that back in Europe or be looking for more I don't know.
Before moving to Mineiro, Ronaldinho was on circa £100k a week at Flamengo but that deal was terminated by a judge after the player sued the club for £13m in unpaid wages and bonuses. Flamengo admitted having difficulties paying for Ronaldinho's salary after ending their partnership with sports marketing company Traffic, which had paid most of his wages. At Mineiro his wages are paid solely by the club which is a rarity in Brazil for the more popular, and expensive, players.

Wow that's quite surprising actually. Thank you for the information. I think that he could be an excellent addition, provided his demands aren't too excessive. Interesting to hear that he was only on around 24/25k (not including bonuses) for a player of his stature.

Agree0 Disagree0

The shirts sales thing as mentioned many a time doesn't matter and won't for another 5 years, to be fair I didn't know he was on so little wages but I guess that's the player he is currently and the vid is the ronny of old rather than the 1 of today, someone will ake him its hArdly breaking the bank I guess he just wants some extra party money

Agree0 Disagree0

Not the type of player Everton need imo.
