Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Chris Wood would have been a great stop gap purchase. Can't believe at the price he went for we didn't indulge for a season or two.

2 thumbs down svenny but wondered myself if he was worth the punt. Big and strong. Could of been a stop gap as you put it. For me, I'd like us to keep an eye on the big atalanta striker Petagna. Damaged us so worth keeping an eye on him to see if he consistently a brute to defenders.

Using "he damaged us" as a yardstick is maybe not the best way to measure a player. My nan would damage our defense right now. She's available on a free if we are still short of options to play upfront.

Why does everyone think we should be rotating the players against Sunderland, or bringing in youngsters who haven't played first team before?
This is the prime opportunity to get a morale boosting win, a good game for our new players to gel a little more, and a game where anything but a win is catastrophic for Koeman. We should field the full strength team intended for main use this season and put an end to this losing spree we're on. After form has turned around we can look to start giving others a run out in future rounds. Now is really not the time to put out a weakened team and risk making our start to the season even worse!

{Ed025's Note - fair point mate..

19 Sep 2017 21:27:58
Thank you ed. I'm all for giving youth a chance and it's great to see youngsters emerge, but right now we just need to turn this form around and get some confidence back within the team. Yes you could say rotation is needed for freshness but I'd say the performances of late cancel out a "rest day". If we can win tomorrow and again at the weekend, i think we'll see a much livelier performance come our Europa match. One win sparks the revival i hope.

I agree, normally I would like to see a few changes but this is a game we can't loose, we need some confidence going into the game with Bournemouth as they are no mugs, clean sheet would be good as well, confidence is one thing money can't buy.
An early goal would be nice to get fans onside otherwise if it gets to 30/ 40mins the crowd will get nervous.

For me bringing in some of the young lads and changing the team for the Sunderland fixture is solely to freshen up the team I know a settled side is the ideal but it looks to me like some of the players are not in form. IMO we also have a problem with movement and are too narrow at times. I would only give Kenny a go and the rest of the players I would pick on form the only other risk would be to move Holgate to CD and play him with Keane but if neither are comfortable on the left then you would have to play Jags or Williams. A back 3 with wing backs just dosen't seem to be working with our personnel. I also think 4-3-3 with two DM is both too narrow and too defensive with our squad. I would prefer to see a 4-4-2 or a 4-4-1-1 but against Sunderland a 4-4-2. I understand your point Worcester about too many changes and the focus on winning the game but I think we do need to pick form players and put them in their best positions which I don't think is happening at the moment.

20 Sep 2017 17:10:38
worcester the reason why we need to change mate is because its not working, players out of position tactics wrong no balance and no pace that side won't get consistency its all wrong, kenny has had a first team oppurtunity as has lookman and niasse deserves a chance without a doubt, changes is a must for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Sep 2017 19:16:09
Bringing in Lookman isn't something i meant by not changing. And nobody would say not to try Kenny, looked very very impressive in the summer and Williams has been dire. My point was that we shouldn't be bringing in Lennon, Niasse etc. Our confidence is shot already so this game is where players can step up and show why they are No 1 picks, they need to be the ones who change the form so that moving forward they know its in them to win. If we weaken our team and lose this game then i honestly believe the whole of Evertons supporters will be in open revolt so stick with our best. As for it not working so far, We beat Stoke, we drew with city so it does work. Its purely confidence after the dreadful fixture run and rotation won't help in the slightest with rectifying that.

I think the general feeling is that the formation and tactics generally are not working. no width, no pace. hence team talk. but I do think RK will turn it around.

people need to chill out any club outside the top 6 would of had the same issues we have had in our first 6 games never mind with loads of new players we will now start turning things around and when later on in the season these teams need to come to goodison hopefully we will be playing with confidence and turn them over.

Welbeck is not a striker we need, good player but would still struggle for goals,
Playing 3 CB and 2 defensive CM is a no no for me and then we wonder why we have nothing uptop.
Time to go back to 4 at back and play either sniederlen or idrissa not both, maybe against teams where we need to but not games where we should be attacking teams.

Just a thought, perhaps RK decided not to play some of the younger players due to who we were playing, and so didn't want to destroy there confidence. Let's see what happens over these next few games.
And before all you miserable persons have a melt down, I did say it was just a thought.

My team for tomorrow:

Pickford (although he will probably play stek)
Kenny holgate Keane Robinson
Davies schniederlin
Lookman klaasen vlasic
Calvert-lewin

Gives us youth, a little bit of experience in the middle with schniederlin, pace up top and what I think looks like a solid cb partnership. Though it maybe to early for Robinson so Martina Maybe?

home vs a struggling Sunderland maybe the time to go two up top?

19 Sep 2017 15:20:19
The problem with playing all the youngsters is defensively they are not good enough I think we need a blend of the proven youngsters ie holgate, davies and dcl and a couple of older heads. If kenny gets a run out i don't think putting Lookman in front of him to start is a good idea as he would be isolated in defence. I would go for kenny with martina at right mid as he plays pretty much as a wing back anyway. Alternatively play martina at rb with lookman rm

pickford
kenny keane holgate baines
martina gueye davies vlasik
sandro dcl.

I would play a 4-3-3 tomorrow with one midfielder farther upfield than the other two.
Pickford
Kenny, Keane, Jags, Baines
Gueye, Klassen
Sigurdsson
Lookman, Sandro, Calvert Lewin

Bench: Stek, Davies, Williams, Mirallas, Vlasic, Niasse, Rooney

Front 3 all have pace and can interchange. We spent 45 mil on sigurdsson so we should actually play him in the right position. Hopefully Niasse can get a run out from the bench and take his opportunity.

Everyone should stop posting about Koeman being fired. Take my word for it he will be here for the full season so get used to it. At the end of the season depending on how the season has gone and depending on the availability of a replacement assessment will be made about his future. Nothing else makes sense.
I just wish that he would stop being so inflexibly and start trying to get a balanced side not just playing his favorite players. As has been said before the next few games are critical to our season, hopefully by January we will be in better shape and can bring in a Lukaku replacement.

Gotta agree gb. We know nothing about the ins and outs of football as most of us are just fans with no experience of top level.

At the end of the day there are 20 teams in the league and only 1 can win it and each game is 11 v 11.

As long as rk gets the players to start showing fight, determination and proper attitude then that's all we can ask for.

Starting tomorrow we need a battling performance and hopefully a win to boost confidence going into a run of 'easier' games. I hope rk has noticed we need pace and a different option up front. Lookman (does make mistakes) , niasse (poor when first signed) and Kenny (only a kid) should all get a second chance to show what they can do (even just to prove to fans that rk sees more than we do in training and that's why he won't play them) .

I just hope fans don't get on their backs if it doesn't go well.

Give rk til at least Christmas before we decide we need a change and get behind the team and support them not start booing and slagging them off.

My personal opinion is that even though we have improved on the squad this summer, we are still a long way off 'securing things'. I see it as closer to the top 6 and further from the bottom 13.
After playing 4 of the top 6 already I'm not 100% alarmed and thinking of relegation already. But what has concerned me is what Koeman actually brings to the table.
By all accounts, Walsh us in control of all transfers. Koeman is in charge if the squad and the tactician. And for me, the sale tions and tactics have been way, way off, already costing us a few extra points.
This Sunderland game has come at thus the right time for us, providing he doesn't change the whole squad around, and give a much needed confidence boost. The next 5 games are there really for the taking (even without our pace and goalscoring ability up top) , Arsenal included in that list.
Can't wait to see what comes of it.
