Lookman an kevin need to start sunday they go forward and press the opersition the 2 of them have done more in 1 game than the poor excuse of wingers he has been playing down the flanks they will both have teams thinking and droping but we all no koeman will go back to the same old formation with 5 centre mids And a kid up top who doesn't score.

Lookman, Mirralas and Vlasic a choice between them. Summer window gone now and huge huge mistake to let Lukaku go without at least wet ink on paper from a replacement front man but the past is the past. Problem being that Koeman having made his bed doesn't know how to lie in it.

I am 65years young and I have been a true blue toffee from the age of 10 years but I must now say I have never in all my time following my team over that time I have never seen such bad football from an Everton team it has been hard for us for years now but at least they played for there shirts then this bunch are only there for a good wage packet witch they don't deserve at all it's getting so very hard to say out loud I'm a toffee,

We have a new owner, we have a new stadium on the way (apparently) . We bought good players (well mostly) , and we thought we had the manager for the future. Everyone was positive, and things looked bright.
Two months on all optimism has gone, the belief in the manager, and the team has gone. If the owner doesn't act fast we will lose the belief in him.
Act now Mr Moshiri or you will lose the people who matter most.

Well I was never a big fan of Roberto but I have to give him credit for setting up his teams to knock a lot of goals past some decent sides in the same pointless Europa League competition. I really can't see how our club can allow this farce to continue. The players are clearly scared to make a mistake-probably because they know they'll be hung out to dry by their manager. Now I've never been a football manager but I have managed lots of teams of staff in challenging situations and I know ( as does any other manager worth their salt) that encouragement and support is what a team needs. I think these players are scared and so would rather hide away than express their true abilities. It looks like a complete failure of coaching to me. But then again, what do I know?

No 1 on a Managers List must be the ability to delegate, delegation takes skill and trust. clearly Koeman is a hands on type of person. The people at the Club who actually know it and the playing staff are clearly not being listened to.

Sorry but the players do not want to play for Koeman - simple!

His signings are garbage except pickford - Klassen, Sigs, ramirez were bought to score goals and how many have they scored between them so far.

Keane is far too slow and Rooney is just too old and no legs ( hence why Man u were not bothered if he left )

We had a golden opportunity with this investment and Koeman and co have blown it plain and simple. I really see a relegation scrap on our hands and to be honest I want Unsworth but would take Moyesy back ASAP to sort out this complete shamble of a squad.

19 Oct 2017 21:58:44
Another performance low in quality.

1. Davies + DM + WGs has to be our midfield. Much more cutting edge and more dangerous.

2. Weak areas are so obvious: no9 (DCL isn't going to get 10 a season let alone 20) ; LB (in fact anywhere Martina plays is a weak area) ; CB (Williams shocking for Lyon 2nd, Keane shaky)

3. Holgate STILL isn't a RB. I don't know what Kenny needs to do to get in this team.

4. Lookman and Vlasic both look exciting. I fear Vlasic will forever be as frustrating as Mirallas though. Lookman needs an end product.

5. Most good points (fight, noise, passion) driven by players and not tactics. RK seems to have no clue how to turn it round and looks beaten. Time to go.

Never been a get him out guy but he obviously does not know what he is doing. Got to go because by January I fear it will be to late. Nothing to lose by giving Unsy a go until end of season and see where we are then. He can certainly do no worse and every chance with this Squad and the U23's of giving us a reasonable finish.

I agree Ed025 bout the squad. DCL is struggling up front. Rooney gets played up front but then drops back to infront of back 4 to collect ball. Today I saw the most fight coming from Davies and a little surprisingly, Mirallas. Obviously Williams had a different type of fight in mind. Some real out of form players and I can't see the form returning to some, newmanager or not.

Have to say more commitment shown today but a total lack of quality at both ends of the pitch for us,
For all the money spent the youngsters provided the best today!
Not sure if Williams was lucky or showed genius when he started the scrap, it certainly spurred us on and created an equaliser, but it wasn’t enough!
Starting to really worry about Keane, Holgate not an RB so many poor descisions that cost. Martina not good enough for Everton end of!
Davies best midfielder we currently have, Lookman bright and needs game time!
But RK at the end looks desperate, not sure why he had a pop at the ref most likely pure frustration, but let’s face it we just aren’t good enough and it will be a tough next few games,

One of the most inept performances by an Everton team I have ever seen! Something definitely wrong between Koeman and the players. We play like the players don't know each other. No balance understanding or cohesion. no confidence at all. Williams nearly incited a riot and was out of order. Keane needs to wake up he's far too slow with the ball at his feet, and Koeman is making far too many team changes from week to week so there's no consistency. I was one who was chuft when we hired Koeman, really believed he would be successful here. but something is not right? If the change is needed. then it's needed very soon. We don't tackle or press no creativity in midfield. and don't create many scoring chances and when we do. We don't have a striker. This is embarrassing!

Before kick off I feared a humiliation. Lyon are a class side and we have been pants of late. Apart from the rash holgate challenge I think we have done well not to be embarrassed in the 1st half.
A few things. The shape still does not really lend itself to goals. The desire and drive is as good as I have witnessed this season.
Whenever we have possession I'm thinking where is Klassen, when we don't have the ball I'm thinking where is Klassen. The lad has 45 minutes to start showing he is not the worst signing in our history. It's annoying that our best chance fell to him.
From the day we signed Mirallas to present day he's been the most technically gifted player at the club. He has to play more games.
For 30 minutes we were out sung by 100 Lyon fans. The last 15 minutes felt like actual Goodison Park.
All in all best 45 minutes of our season, at least they're trying.

Ed25, u should feel vindicated in your opinions on RK. starting 11 is unbalanced, and not as good as it could be. Williams Captain? Martina on left now? Shouldn't be tinkering around with different positions like this in a game this significant. at least not with clowns like that. and why is he resting certain players. intl break just finished. if he's saving them for arsenal at weekend . why. to get into Europe next season? What does it take to see Koeman has totally lost it, long before tonight's game. The City game is where it started for me, they went down to ten and we literally tactically done nothing. I'm a born blue and this is the first time I've ever wanted the opposition to win emphatically so we can sack this fraud. Are the board watching the same everton we are! Were i can say we played well today there is no effort or no pace or aggression in the team and that's down to the manger and his staff he has had the money to spend but there are players we did go for and could not get but its the same old story for me if moshiri want to take us to the next level go out there and get a manget with a big background who will attrract top players and also go and buy a player of top quaility who will turn heads we all no now its all about the money and its sad to say it but if ya can't win them join them throw big money an players an big wages ill got some stick for it but in my opinion its true.

Hey all, long time peruser but never contributed owt before; hope you'll bear with me (and the insomnia) .

It isn't turning out quite as we all hoped, is it? But, we've never been the brightest of starters, We can all see the problems: too many 10s, a vanity signing to stir the heart, ageing / absent wing banks, obsessive tendency to play two DMs and a manager who seems incapable of deciding precisely what game he'd like to play. And I have the horrible sinking feeling we'll get precious little return out of this run of games up to Stamford Bridge and the next round of the SuperSpecialFarEasternEnergyDrink Cup. I saw someone else here post they'd settle for 40 points now. I'm not disagreeing.

What I really want to say is though, all feck ups aside (how did we not get a Premiership 'ready' 9. when we had at least 15 months to prepare for that pandered peacock's departure; why no additional centre back, or right back cover; why no confidence in Lookman and Davies at the very least) is that WE ARE STILL INFINITELY BETTER OFF THAN WE'VE BEEN SINCE THE MID 80s. There is absolutely no doubt about it.

I am fully aware that I am a geek, but its the business / financial end that's piqued my interest in recent months, and all the signs say to me Moshiri is in it for the long term. This is not to say SW and Elstone shouldn't have a shot across their bows from the board, or that I have absolute confidence in RK's ability to turn things round, just that we may have to be a little more patient. This season might prove to be little more than one glorified bump on the road to a better future. A transition. Not the one we expected, sure, but at least now we have the MEANS to challenge again. We haven't lost that, whatever our form since August.

Keep the faith, inneh?

Agree with most of that mate, good post.

We are 100% in a better place than the mid-80s and have a lot to be grateful for, particularly with Moshiri.

All I'd say re patience is that I'd have a lot more of it if we were showing signs of improvement, maybe even if we were just steady but my worry is we're regressing every game.

Koeman and the board made some baffling signings over the summer while not addressing what was most urgent - left footed CB, a RB and a number 9. Granted though they made a couple of terrific signings in Keane and Pickford, but his selections and formations don't inspire any confidence that he'll be able to turn it round.

We blindly pursued the Sigurdsson deal all pre season and were forced to pay over the top for him, during this time we failed to secure more important positional signings, now to frustrate things further we do not play him in the position we bought him to play because we have too many players already.
I would really like to know for all we are paying him what is Steve Walsh's real input? I can't say we have seen a real gem unearthed?

Keeping my fingers firmly crossed for victory against Lyon to keep our European hopes alive. I know most people think a defeat will see Koeman sacked but I'm not so sure. Our club is renowned for patience with a manager, and i believe with him getting such heavy player investment, he'll be given until the end of the season unless we look to be in a serious relegation situation. My guess would be a change of manager in June, much as it was with Martinez.

With regards to who i would like to replace him, i know everyone is vehemently against Rafa because of the Liverpool connection but he's a manager that can get us moving in the right direction so we shouldn't cut our nose off to spite our face. If he's got the balls to take on the job with his club history then he'll get my full support to prove himself.

I'm also a real fan of the Poland manager Adam Nawalka. I thought during the Euros that they were a real joy to watch and set up very well in matches. If this was brought to Everton then i think we'd see much better football than now. However i admit that i know nothing about his previous experience and whether international management style could be replicated at club level so just an unknown quantity in that respect.

Finally, if any eds or readers can help, is Laurent Blanc currently manager of anybody? What a manager he would be to get. Not sure if he'd fancy us and probably gets some pretty decent offers but i think he'd be a real coup. Pipe dreams eh.

Re the Lyon game be aware they are resting 5 key players or a combination of rest / injured that will no doubt be fit again at the weekend .
That may make our task easier tonight but I still think it will be difficult. I just wanted to make my fellow BLUES on here aware that if by some miracle we do win we are not playing the same Lyon team we would be playing if it were the final .
Having said that we would all have Lookman Kenny and Davies in our teams, maybe they will get a chance tonight
