Good win for us again today. A lot has already been said about Lukaku, but for me the signing of Mccarthy looks to be a cracking bit of business, and so does Barry to be fair. Has there been anymore rumours about this Red Bull takeover? {Ed025's Note - no update as yet revs..

Agreed, I think some of the posters here need to give Hull some credit, they made it a hard game.
I thought the move for the second goal was superb, if it was scored by a north london club it would be goal of the month on MotD.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with second poster - Hull are not a bad team. Third favourites for relegation? Not on yesterday's showing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought our two central midfielders had a very good game yesterday.Out of the two Mccarthy just shaded the mom award for me.Imo this kid is going to be a top top player for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I always said Macca was made for Everton and he has plenty of years to improve, if he continues his progression as he has then we'll have some player on our hands and will be easily worth £25m by the time he's 25, of that I have no doubt.
If you think of it as a straight swap for Rodwell, (plus £1m) who I thought was way overrated and injury prone then it's great business.

I think we averaged about 69-70% possession today. However chances were equal. Chuffed that we won.
I think we have to keep our feet on the ground and remember we are a work in progress.
Lukaku has had a busy week and would have every right to be tired. Ross is still learning.
I just can't wait for the day when 70% possession means 30 shots where 50 % go in.
Think we need a little more thrust. But a wins a win and we are not far off top. We can't grumble.
Lets enjoy.

Hate man u, 'we are not stoke, sunderland or everton, we are MANCHESTER UNITED', go give your head a wobble mate, arrogant fans, clueless fans and joke club with a team full of average players, would love to wake up tomorrow to find out they were avoiding tax and had their trophies removed let's see how good their remarks are then

Exactly Mike. 'We're playing like Everton mkII, etc.' according to, I think, Sydney.
They're playing like a moyes team, plain and simple.
Managers dictate the style of play not the clubs.

Not the best of games today this tip tap football from defence is not suiting our central defenders it seems to be panic stations when they are closed down, let's hope they get this sorted. My hero in the 80s was Paul Bracewell and i'm thinking we may have found another PB in McCarthy he covered every piece of grass, his tackling and passing was superb, I criticised his signing but i'm eating my words now. A few weeks ago I said Pienaar was finished. And that Kone would come good. I post a bit less now.
Hank

Agree0 Disagree0

Pienaar is really important, Baines is twice the player when pienaar is on the pitch as for players like kone and Naismith its really important we get behind them, confidence is so important to players .they will score important goals for us .

Few thoughts on today's game;
Performance wasn't great, but we got the result, so doesn't matter. Barry and McCarthy were fantastic. Mirallas looked more like his old self in the first half, but vanished a bit in the second, Ross didn't have a good game, that's not the first sitter Kone's missed and The ref was painfully inconsistent.

I'm not jumping to conclusions, but Distin looked a little shaky, too. He was fantastic against Newcastle, but today made me realise that we really need to start making moves towards a replacement. Heitinga isn't good enough, and I'm not too sure about Alcaraz. Stones was great against Juve, but he is still young an inexperienced, so a loan put would probably be best for him. I like Duffy, but it's looking unlikely he'll ever break through. I, for one, would love us to go for Curtis Davis; he was fantastic today and put in one of the best defensive displays I've seen in a long time. Would be pretty cheap, too. Whoever we go with, unless he suddenly become awful, I'm happy to see Sylvain remain in our first 11 for the next year or so.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There is far better than curtis davies out there,

Agree0 Disagree0

Curtis Davis? You're having a laugh!

Agree0 Disagree0

There is, but few for the price he'll be. I imagine he'd be the next lescott/ distin - few get excited by the buy, but he becomes a hero.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha just because a player has one good game against us does not mean we should go out and buy them there is a reason he plays for Hull and not one of the big teams easy he is not good enough

Agree0 Disagree0

He has, statistically, been the best English defender in the league this year, and if any of you had actually watched any of Hull's other games, you'd agree. We weren't great yesterday, but would have won comfortably if not for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

A good signing for us would be Gary Cahill. He and Jags have proved they are a decent partnership. Jags is a great reader and the king of the last ditch, Cahill is an excellent footballer who is comfortable on the ball and is a constant threat from set pieces. Terry and Luiz is Joses preferred partnership so it's not that unrealistic.

Im a fan of cahill mate, never trust him in a shoulder to shoulder challenge though, great footballer and a threat to the opposition goal and is a decent defender, for me though mate phil jones and jags should be england centre back partnership, jags the defender and jones the footballer with the addition of pace, versatility and excellent passing range which cahill doesn't possess but cahill is good nontheless

Howard-6- didn't do anything spectacular and should of come for corners but as usual he didnt

Coleman-7-solid game going forward and looked comfortable defensively

Jagielka-6-better game second half, was shaky all game and kept hoofing the ball to osman for somee reason

Distin-7-looked clueless on the ball but solid defensively as usual

Baines-7-got ripped apart foelr their goal but did well going forward and looked ok defensively as a whole

Mirallas-6.5-difficult this one, good goal and looked lively but didn't do enough as a whole imo

Mccarthy-9-passing was great all game and won possession very well always looked calm on the ball motm imo

Barry-8.5-great game again similar to mccarthy very good passing and very calm on the ball but mccarthy just shades it imo

Osman-3.5-maybe harsh but was poor again showing he is not good enough for a starting place as his passing was awful and the game just passed him by

Barkley-4.5-looked lively but passing was poor, backheel was stupid, too many touches and showing off too much, not at his best today, in fact very far off

Lukaku-5-looked tired but always wanted the ball and at least tried

Pienaar-6.5-a welcome site to get rid of osman and looked lively, passing was good as was his overall play but maybe a little slow to react to some loose balls

Kone-4.5-oh god, looked lively but how on earth did he miss that chance, looked not fully fit and uninterested today

Naismith-6-the albino cheese monkey, didn't do anything wrong and not on long enough to judge

I thought I was the only one with enough time to make one of these :') great stuff, though, thanks.

I would have given distin a bit lower. He was decent defensively, but his cluelessness overshadowed it for me and I'd give him a 5/6.

Mirallas I'd have said 7. He did nothing in the second half, but first half he worked very hard and was extremely lively.

Completely agree with both McCarthy and Barry being excellent.

3.5 is harsh on osman, but I agree that he isn't good enough anymore. He is just too slow, in every respect. Few years ago, he'd have thrived in this system, but now, he just doesn't give the ball quick enough.

Ross, I don't think he was trying to show off, as such, just didn't really have an option very often. He also got a lot of stick for not shooting, when, to be fair, he was closed down very quickly. That said, he was very poor. His dribbling barely ever worked and his passing was terrible at times. The back heel was a low point.

Agree with all of the others, though. Better post match review than tv and the likes will give

Agree0 Disagree0

Barry could - and maybe should - have been sent off for one, if not two, very bad tackles.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have posted on here about osman .he should be no were near the first team anymore.its like playing with 10 men.what legs he had have now gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

That is the perfect summary

Can't get my head around Osman starting over delboy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Delboy needs to grow up a bit and realise he's not as good as he think - he gives ball away far too much - that would be ok if he was scoring/making lat least 1 goal per game but often there's no end product to his showboating

Agree0 Disagree0

I know what you meen about the showboating but taking players on is a big part of his game. He also hasn't had a good enough run out to establish a decent goals/assists record. And asking delboy to not try and take players on is like asking Ronaldo not to shoot. Give him a decent 10 game run and I guarantee he would have provided more to the team than Osman or Naismith . You need players like him in the team who can create something out of nothing {Ed025's Note - for me he is a luxury player at the moment lew, he is only young, and yes talented, but these days you need a few more strings to your bow, giving away possession too easily will put pressure on the midfield and defence, he will learn, and im sure he will develop into a very good player mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure del boy has been given the time to score a goal a game. He really should be playing. RM is being cautious. Our good start to the season has been more down to our willingness to dig in as good as some of our football has been at times. We are not playing fluently enough yet from defence to risk the lack of protection down the fanks. Hence why Osman or Naismith play. For now anyway.

Hank

Agree0 Disagree0

He, s going to be one of the best players in the world I've watched is 18 goals last season he, s the nearest thing to messi I've ever seen tom efc hold your opionion till he plays a few games.

Barsolona don't have bad players on there books its silly to think they have someone they regard very highly who as a 30 mil by out clause as anything other as a special player
