Evenings Eds just a quick question not sure if anyone can help? I fully understand trimming the squad size and have listened to Silvas interviews recently. Was last summers spending seen as a one off? Is it a bit more like selling to raise funds or are we just trying not to spend over the odds on players like last summer? Suppose i'm asking do we have the cash or is it being invested in the stadium?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I think you have create some strange scenario Alex - I can’t possibly try to answer it.}

20 Jul 2018 00:24:11
Finance is not the issue here, it’s about getting value for our money, and what we spent last year we have not seen any return, Tosun I believe was value and providing we can give him the service he needs, he will score goals, I think he has potential to hit 20+ but that will depend on who is supporting him.

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 09:09:32
Cheers Metz for the answer rather than just insulting the question! I’m a big fan on Cenk and believe with the right service he could easily bag 15-20. Still not 100% certain Sigi is the man to do that yet! Fingers crossed we see the best of him this year!

The Liverpool Echo are reporting that Oumar Niasse is in MS plans for this season, I hope to high heaven this is not the case, quite simply not good enough and on far to much money given our ‘clear the decks’ policy we have heard from the club. What people think?

Believable4 Unbelievable10

19 Jul 2018 21:52:32
What do you suggest? Sell or loan and buy a 3rd choice striker? We are not too good for Niasse to be brutally honest.

Agree1 Disagree4

19 Jul 2018 22:13:31
I’d go with the sell (depending on price) I’d like us to be looking for a 1st choice Striker tbh or at least someone to Chalenge CT, to be honest MB from Chelsea, JV Leicester, someone who can at least cover 60 yards in under 6 seconds. Offer us something different maybe. We’ve got DCL for the longer run and I’d happy see back of SR tbh aswell. Nowt personally against Niasse, just not for me.

Agree2 Disagree2

19 Jul 2018 22:42:12
Blu1, be interesting to see where Everton would have finished without some of Niasses goals in important games when he came on and pulled us out of the mire on more than one occasion.

He is not blessed with skill but he has a knack of hitting the back of the net, definitely worth keeping for the squad rotation.

Agree4 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 22:48:04
give 10000% and scores goals, what more do u want for a squad player?!?!?! some people think wer better than we actually are.

Agree3 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 23:18:16
From the brief quote attributed to Silva. He sees Niasse clearly as a random impact sub and to be fair to the wild man, he does run his socks off.
I totally understand the thinking. i'm not a fan to be honest, I like to think we're better than him. However, he has a great attitude (probably his biggest asset) and is happy to play when given the chance. Perfect squad player.

Does confirm the end for Sandro. And if a new striker is added, what becomes of DCL?

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 23:31:47
Exactly my point Johny. Blu: If we bought another striker we would need to loan out DCL as he needs more game time. Which would leave Niasse as 3rd choice. Unless you would buy two strikers. We need reinforcements in other areas much more and we only need quality so would be large outlays. I respect your opinion mate but personally see this as a no brainer mate.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 00:12:12
Niasse is a keeper for me - tries his best, runs all day - no great skill levels but for me he is a poacher - always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

If he scores 10-15 goals this season he is an absolute bargain at 13 mill - just have to look at some of the prices of strikers these days. Sandro reminds me of a one hit wonder - at 5 mill worth a punt . sure we will recoup the majority of that, even a small profit if sold.

Agree4 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 06:49:59
He made things happen when he came off the bench last season so seems sensible to keep him.

Plus the guy has not had an easy time settling in yet has been the constant professional - surely a good influence on the dressing room and for youth players (we hope) . Prefer that to getting someone like Et’o in.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 07:37:31
Niasse will long be remembered as a cult hero for us. What he went through under Koeman was awful yet he still seems delighted to be here, which doesn’t surprise me given he isn’t very good. But as others have said, he does seem to have a knack or getting goals when we need them, which seems to surprise him as much as it does the rest of us. Would rather have him than Bendtner.

I reckon the dislike of him is jealousy. Tell me you’re not all thinking “I deserve a shot in the team if Niasse can get £55k a week for simply being a nice guy and running his arse off. ”.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 08:52:46
Anyone think Silva is playing mind games with anyone that is interested in Niasse? I'm not saying he is just think its a possibility, especially with the new approach the club has with buying players. Maybe they intend to be hard sellers too.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2018 08:55:19
Can anyone let me know what happened with the reports at the start of the summer. Problems at the club between players with Niasse being the problem and Tom Davies being very unhappy?
Would keeping Niasse be a problem for other players or was it all BS?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 09:36:08
Controversial but I think niasse does challenge tosun, like it or not he scores goals, he's an absolute nuisance and for now he'll do in our squad, sure wed like better but for all this love of dcl niasse scores more?

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 10:22:02
blu1 I can't believe you don't think Niasse offers something different. He has got to be one of the most unorthdox strikers in the PL. I can't think of any other like him.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 11:31:05
Bloody hell is that post from SA that i agree with (cleans glasses) haha Absolutely spot on their mate, very unique player and person as it seems.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 13:08:35
Hi all, I do see what he offers and I do get that he is different etc. credit where it’s due. I’m probably still reeling from travelling all the way down to WH last game of the season like I say and watching him have a stinker, and I repeat woeful. - Only as good as your last competitive game etc. 3rd Chice Striker, impact player yeah. I can live with that.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 13:46:38
Look at how much Niasse has improved since we first seen him, if he keeps it up we will see Messi quality from him this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 20:13:04
Im glad Oumar is staying. He can score goals, nobody can deny that. he's is arguably the best professional in football and works so hard. As a 3rd choice striker he ticks the boxes for me. Big fan of Oumar myself.

Believable10 Unbelievable5

20 Jul 2018 02:57:36
I think people can assume my opinion on Oumar the destroyer. An invaluable member of the team who creates so much positivity on the pitch like no other. Absolute no brainer for him to remain. Given the adequate playing time - particularly from an impact sub position - and the man will get you 10+ goals per season. What a guy.

20 Jul 2018 11:22:33

Just been reading Marco has come out and said Niasse is staying at Everton, in his words Niasse gives something different to our other Strikers.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

19 Jul 2018 19:45:27
If you watched the friendly/ pre-season last night you would see what he means about Niasse. Yet again the lad had chances and if you don't create chances you don't score. I think he hit the upright twice and scored. The lad is such an awkward lump especially in the area, that defenders don't know what to do with him.

Agree3 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 20:06:47
Yep saw that ktf mate, he is a real handful.

Agree2 Disagree2

19 Jul 2018 20:12:57
Very happy to hear that mate, if anyone has deserved some faith it's Niasse. Great attitude, causes defenders hassle, gets in good positions, scores goals. Got nothing but respect for him.

Agree3 Disagree2

19 Jul 2018 20:53:33
Get what you saying folks but deep down. amd I mean this, he isn’t what we need. There is no sentiment in football the late Bob Paisley always said that. Fact is Martinez brought him in on a handsome wage, Hull and Crystal Palace have shown a genuine interest in the past and that for me says it all. Disappointed but not like he’s said he is in the squad every week I suppose.

Agree3 Disagree4

19 Jul 2018 21:19:12
I have no idea what devil he made a pact with but he has the most ridiculous amount of luck.

He isn't good enough but he's a back up so I'm not that bothered. I still want to see some proper competition in this area though.

Agree3 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 21:39:09
Niasse is another body but he is not the best player. The main thing in his favour is he doesn't have a clue what he is doing so the defenders won't either so he may create chances for himself and other people. Maybe after a run of games he will gain confidence and start improving his goals ratio.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - not a bad option from the bench geoff, but thats the best i can say about him mate..

19 Jul 2018 21:49:13
It's a tough one with niasse.
We all think he's not good enough but he scores important goals, changes games and shows more heart and fight than most players in our squad.
If we had 4 players last season that showed the fight he did how different would it have been?
I would personally keep him.
He's a problem for defenders and he can score.
I personally would use him for the last 20 mins of every game regardless of the scoreline.
Let's face it when he comes on he rarely disappoints.
His attitude is probably the best I have seen from a player in 10 yrs.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree with that pauly..

19 Jul 2018 22:26:07
Pauly, when you say his attitude is the best you have seen in 10 years do you mean / are taking into consideration the way he has been treated by Keenan et-al. His attitude shouldn’t matter, just like his 55k per week being irrelevant also. He is paid to put the ball in the back of the net. I watched him final game at WH and he was woeful. Also. you may want to watch our RB, lad called Coleman, broke his leg recently, captains his country, could have moved to a much bigger club I expect and earned vast sums more over the years. that’s the best I’ve seen hands down in past 10yrs.

Agree3 Disagree1

20 Jul 2018 03:30:35
I agree with what you say about Seamus, he's an Everton legend. But Niasse has done us proud and as a 2nd or 3rd choice striker, i don't think we can expect better. If he stays he'll score some vital goals for us again next season.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 09:59:31
Good attitude but he really isn't good enough. Scored some good goals but missed others he should have finished. What decides it for me is that his link up play for the team is poor and we create less chances because he has given it away

Like him for his smile and enthusiasm but we need better than the proverbial bull in a china shop.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 10:09:18
Blu1 I think Seamus should be captain and in terms of attitude he is right up there but I was specifically talking about the treatment given to niasse.
For a player to be treated that way and still keep his composure and willingness to play for the club and keep focused enough to keep improving his game has been something to behold.
I'm sorry if you disagree but you do not get rid of players like him. You utilise him as best you can.
Like I said I would use him as an impact sub and I'm sure he would be happy just to be involved.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 18:35:26
I think Liverpool spending that on a gk has put Pickford at £100m that was a ridiculous transfer fee for a gk. When neymar was sold it had huge impact on market, this transfer will have same effect on Gk.
I'm not saying he's poor but didn't think much of him at World Cup flapped a lot.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

19 Jul 2018 20:59:52
Please tell me your not serious lol? Pickford is decent no doubt but world class he is not, 100 million sure for De Gea but not even half of that for Pickford. Alisson is world class and worth every penny. You can't judge him on a few WC performances mate, if you watched him last season at Roma your opinion would be different.

Agree3 Disagree4

19 Jul 2018 21:15:35
This the same keeper who you scored 7 against last season in two games? I love how all the liverpool fans i know are saying how he is a great keeper. Its as if they have all followed him playing for Roma week in week out.

Agree3 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 21:25:29
If you saw Pickford and the defence and tactics he had to put up with every week you'd understand why Pickford IS worth every penny of that £100mil!

I like Alisson though but it'll be a pity to not to have a lickle chuckle every week seeing Karius and Mino fight it out for most calamitous keeper.

Ok, which one of you wants a handkerchief? my word! sorry for having an opinion lol keep up with your delusional thoughts though, it's all good. Let's just say Pickford is worth 100 million eh? hilarious, keep it up with the jokes. I sense so much jealousy it's unreal.

Those of you who know me would know I don't come to these pages to dig at anybody or to cause an argument. I came just to give an opinion but if you want to be like that it's all good fellas, enjoy mid table ;) .

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2018 04:42:09
Liverpool keep throwing money around but accuse other teams (City, Chelsea) of buying the league. You've been trying to buy the Premier league since it began. Enjoy not winning the league.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 07:50:24
We'll also enjoy being up there with the very best in world football OllBlue1878 mate, the squad we've got now will turn heads, success is on it's way, anybody who follows football can see that, you can be jealous and bitter but everybody can see Liverpool have a top notch squad, do you realise how great it feels to be one of the best teams in Europe? stupid question, of course you don't. Enjoy pickford, we will once the 1st Dec comes around, we'll see what your 100 million keeper is worth.

To those who may say 'you say this every year' some fans do, I don't I haven't said this for years and I haven't been this excited about a Liverpool team for a very long time but I feel I have a right to be now, we're not adding people like Lambert, balotelli etc now, nah we're adding some of the best players in the world, with an already great squad. Success is coming, just because it's not Everton you really shouldn't be so butthurt.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2018 09:31:21
Salah you say everyone that knows you knows you don’t come on other teams pages to have digs or start arguments but yet you’ve posted 2/ 3 messages on the Everton page that have digs at Everton in them. I don’t know you but my opinion on you is you’re on this page to cause trouble or wind up the Evertonians. And I’m sure there lots of others that think that.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 09:36:44
They may think that, I am putting digs in now for sure after the replies I got for stating my opinion, it goes two ways mate. If you can't take it don't give it.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jul 2018 10:16:03
Salah at the end of the day mate, finishing mid table or runners up brings the same amount of trophies. none.
You can call us all you want and say you have world class players but the facts remain the same.
Lpool have spent a lot more than us to win the same amount.
Also no goal keeper can justify 72m.
But if I was going to throw that sort of money about for a goalie then pickford would be in my top 3.
This lad has played in teams with no defence and still looks world class.
He's only young and he's still learning.

I thought it was easy to wind my 11 year old boy up but my word it seems you lot over here are much easier to wind up it's bloody hilarious lol.

It's crazy the amount of bitterness on here it really is, for the record I have a lot of respect for Everton due to the charity work they do for the people etc, no other club does what Everton are doing (that I know of) so your club get's my respect big time. Shame about some of you fans isn't it :) .

Anyway I'll leave it at that. Enjoy Pickford, the saviour, the one and only £100 million goalkeeper hahaha and you wonder why I call you delusional lol. Good luck next season, you're going to need it.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 17:08:59
I'm getting well annoyed at everyone calling for signings, we have a manager who's not here a wet day, are fans not willing to give him a few weeks to see what he has at the club and have a look at some of the 19-20-21 year olds, for example if he likes the look of Dowell or Lookman hen I thing he should be given time to figure out if he needs to sign someone in those positions. Could save us tens if millions, if Koeman did that last season we wouldn't have ended up with a bunch of Number 10's at the club. In my opinion there are only 2 positions that urgently need looking at, CB and another striker, still 3 weeks to go so no need to panic just yet.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2018 17:21:17
I get what you're saying mate and that's why I'll reserve my judgement positive or negative until the wedding closes. But of course I am worried as I think we still need 3-4 players and centre back, left back and a forward being priority. I know there's goings on behind that nobody has a clue about but times running out and seems too quiet. Still have faith Marco and the board will deliver though.

19 Jul 2018 19:08:03
Not everyone toppblue, I posted a couple of Days ago saying similar, give Silva a few friendlies, to work out priority for incomings and see if any perform better under an attack minded manager.

One thing is for sure, Silva will ensure Tosun is not left isolated this season.

The signings will come, rather we did our homework this season, rather than jump in and sign a player a Day almost, like we did last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 20:53:38
There’s over three weeks left and transfers can be done in a couple of days. We will be working on a number of options behind closed doors any of which could be done as quickly as a flight and a medical if we’re already discussing terms, which I’d bet money that we are.

As a wise man once said, “Don’t panic Mr Mainwaring”.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 04:45:55
Agree with your point mate but we do need strengthening in certain positions, LB, CB and creative midfielder. That's a fact. Nothing wrong with people getting a bit worried about lack of signings, its only because we love Everton so much.

{Ed001's Note - it was just an enquiry, like all the others (apart from Roma) you were put off by the price.}

19 Jul 2018 14:20:53
Just wondering ed, when big reputable sources like sky who are usually reliable and L'equipe saying talks were at an advanced stage, who is it who would leak that information. Is it Bordeaux? The agent? Surely people in everton wouldn't release it beacause now he is going elsewhere, it feels from the outside like a defeat. Personally I'm disappointed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - when Sly say 'Sky sources say', it generally means they have sourced it from the internet. A few times I know they have taken information I have posted up on a site and claimed it as 'sky sources say' before now. I have no idea what it even means when they talk about bids or advanced stages. Bids are almost unheard of these days, teams are almost always in talks with other clubs. Most of it is just journo talk to spice up an otherwise humdrum story of a quick phone call or meeting to ask if a team is willing to sell a player and get ballpark figures if they are etc.}

19 Jul 2018 14:35:26
Ah okay thanks mate. I know it's random with the rumours of Loftus Cheek, do you have any idea what will happen with him now he's back from the World Cup?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I expect him to stay with Chelsea, I am told he is excited at the prospect of working with Sarri. It is Drinkwater they are particularly looking to offload. However, I doubt they would be against taking an offer for Loftus-Cheek either to be honest, if the offer was right.}

19 Jul 2018 15:06:15
So disappointed. This rumour really got me excited, but if it's felt that the price cannot be justified then so be it.

I know Moshiri is relatively rich, EPL prize money and TV rights are substantial so no doubt we could afford it, it's good to see we are not willing to waste money on over inflated fees.

Naturally it's gutting to not get such a talented player, same with Tierney if that had any truth to it, but it does at least show the calibre of player Brands is looking at. If he dropped out over price then my guess is it's because there are other options that interest him almost as much. If he wasn't monitoring other transfer options then that's when we'd likely pay over the odds for someone. Again, just my guess.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Moshiri cannot simply pour money in to Everton.}

19 Jul 2018 15:32:21
The feeling from most Evertonisns is that he will invest - this does not mean he’ll buy at any price. He’s a billionaire because he makes good business decisions after all. If we are going in for the likes of Mina and Malcolm, we can at least be enthused by the quality of the targets - hopefully one or two will come off!

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 17:15:47
Ed you should totally make up one and see if sky claim "sky sources say" something like Phil Jones is close to signing for Everton for 18 million.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - somebody did do that years ago on Arsenal and it made sports papers all over the globe. When Ed007 did an April Fool's Day gag one year about someone sponsoring Celtic, it also did the same. I have seen Balague copy and paste quotes I put up direct from a player's father before on his website. One of his ghost writers just happened to help out as an editor on here then. Not that I am suggesting anything of course!}

19 Jul 2018 19:05:49
Moshri is a business Man who has invested in Everton, Everton is just a part of his portfolio. As Ed (s) say he/ they (investors) cannot and will not just pour money into one project, what they do is help a project develop and it takes time.
