Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

19 Jul 2016 22:37:16
I think everton have been trying to get Walsh in for a few weeks at least which would explain the lack of signings he obviously has his ideas on who he wants to bring in but obviously wouldn't be sharing any of these until the deal was done. It's the only thing that makes sense to me. Now hopefully we push on get the right players in and do some damage. Coyb!

I doubt that mate, what if Leicester had decided not to let him talk? The reason nothing much has happened so far is that RK wanted to assess the squad before deciding which areas he needs to concentrate on strengthening. The lads involved in international competitions have only had two days training under him so far. Expect things to start moving this week.

I agree he needed to assess the squad but obviously we need a keeper and a striker. That's just common sense.

20 Jul 2016 09:06:39
agree those two positions are obviously in need of new faces, more so the keeper. I think things would have started progressing from this week regardless of us hiring a DoF, once RK had seen the standard of his full squad. Walsh might save us a few quid, based on some of his findings during stints with Chelsea and the current champions, but it's good to see us being aggressive behind the scenes for a change.

19 Jul 2016 22:16:48
I think the reason we haven't bought anyone as of yet is that the board and Moshiri don't trust the current scout set up as I've seen one of the eds comment about possible outside interests of the scouts.

So once we get Walsh appointed as DOF things will move a long nicely.

Good point that.

Whilst at Chelsea, Steve Walsh was instrumental in the recruitment of Didier Drogba and Gianfranco Zola. If people were unaware of this mans pedigree. Now you're aware.

So it looks like Walsh is dof. That's what's taken so long. And a good edition if you ask me.
Things are looking good Blues.

I see a few unknowns in the next few weeks, that will turn out to be Diamonds.

New owner, New manager, New dof and possibly a new stadium.

With the signing of Steve Walsh as Director of football to be formally announced tomorrow expect the floodgates to then open and signings to be made.

OMG! There is so much negativity on this site! "Everton have to sell before they buy" Get a grip! If we are having this conversation in September please feel free to panic. Why would Steve Walsh and Ronald Koeman leave amazing jobs to join a struggling club? I don't want to offend anyone but just support our team.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2016 23:22:49
Exactly KingpinDuaney. Koeman joined because he obviously believes in something. If Walsh signs that's 2 top names joining Everton. Still impatient fans give out about no signings. I'm over the moon. Signings will come eventually. When its the right at thing to do. Until then no one will be signed and I'm not bothered.

Ssp reporting done deal with Leicester for Walsh as DOF, is that a good thing?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes, he was at Chelsea before Leicester he is the best in Europe I reckon, more important than Koeman. I am very optimistic for a change, but it will take time.

I have been abused for being "negative" when I warned of patience being needed and how 100 million would not automatically buy us success. I now read so many posts on here by people panicking about lack of signings and same old Everton. This is exactly why I was saying "caution needed-Rome was not built in a day". I think we will do well to make top half of the league this season and people need a reality check. I have never before seen such a strong list of teams with quality players. Some have already made astute signings and yes we are lagging behind. but panic buys such as Niasse are not the answer. Calmness and support under adversity is the answer.

Degsy do you only post on here too blow your own trumpet or do you want us all to say 'Degsy you're the guru of everything Everton? ' Your posts are always the same and i'm pretty sure that most of the regulars here (me included) don't even bother reading them anymore as I know what you're going to say. The only surprise with this post is that you never mentioned how our midfielders only score 1-2 goals a season. Change the record. The club are moving in the right direction, pour yourself a beer, smile because your face won't crack and enjoy being a supporter of the greatest football club there is. COYB!
For every poster that says they are worried at the lack of signings so far there are thousands of us not worried as we know things are happening and we will make signings before the window closes.

There is no reason to panic, we are in the position we should have expected. RK said he wanted to assess his squad before deciding where we need to strengthen, who he wants to keep and who can be put up for sale. Due to the Euro's and the tournament in South America, he has only had some of the players for 2 days. He won't have had enough time to judge properly until he has put them all through their paces. I expect things to start moving towards the end of this week.

Also Niasse was Russian player of the year, if you watch his videos on YouTube he looks good, and if anyone says the Russian league is poor. My answer to that is Yarmolenko. Everyone want's him and he wasn't Russian player of the year.

Like everyone I would love to see some signings especially some of the names that have been linked with. But I'm getting bored of people moaning about not signing anyone. We will when Koeman and Moshiri and anyone else involved decide to.
Quit female dogging.

Degsy you frustrate me beyond belief. I agree with the general sentiment of your post. Yes, people need to be patient, and yes, the added money offers no guarantee of success. You are also correct when you say that panic buys are not the answer.

However, you have to realise that the way you say things winds people up. This "I told you so" attitude is really grating, especially when half of the things you take credit for haven't actually happened yet.

I completely disagree that we will finish below the top half this season, and if you believe that why bother even supporting the team. Being realistic and pessimistic are two totally separate things mate. We have just taken a key member of the management team from the current champions, and appointed a manager who is highly regarded and sought after. We have a good squad with some fantastic prospects, and only a left winger and Goalkeeper away from having a quality first 11, yet you still act like we are "bringing a knife to a gun fight" like your beloved Moyes would say.

Hi ed, rumours circulating we have to sell to buy again, surely this can't be true?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Everton has to balance the books the same as other clubs. There is considerable additional income (from television) this season, some of which is being paid in advance in order to encourage spending. I imagine whatever rumours these are go rather too far.}

19 Jul 2016 16:39:47
Hi eds

Just wondering if you can clear something up.

We got koeman on the pretence that there would be a large transfer budget and that unlike saints he wouldn't have to sell his best players to buy.

So far we've seen zero acticity transfer wise apart from being linked to every player. We are reportedly about to sell stones who is one of our btightest prospects.

Us there issues with kenwright conducting transfers? Or is he trying to just flog more season tickets

Is there problems with ronny getting the players?

Has moshiri been forth coming with the money that was promised as I've never seen a figure if how much he will plow into the club.

If moshiri hasn't then where's the TV money

The reason I ask is that the bright new Dawn we all expecting hasn't come about and I'm wondering if there's trouble beind the scenes as I've heard a rumour there is
Now if it's just ronny looking at the squad then fair play and if the signings are to follow then sound I'll hold my hand up and I know well blood the kids and be stronger for it. but if the goal is to break into the champions league asap then the curent squad is not good enough and I fear another midsole finish awaits

And info greatly appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - seriously? The window isn't shut yet, try showing some patience. Do you want just anyone or the right ones?}

19 Jul 2016 16:54:19
The right ones odviously and I'm sorry for being cynical but I don't want it to be same old same old.

Have to agree with Ed here. Even if moshiri had literally droppedthe money off in a briefcase who would have chosen who to spend it on. Rk was always going to assess the squad before making any moves. The squad (excluding rom) have only just got back. If they had gone out and spent load of money without being careful we would be calling for murder.

Can anyone else see Everton doing an Everton and waiting until the season has started before we sign our players and then have to wait about 10 games before they have bedded in? On a serious note has Witsel decided which club he is going to? I've read more major twists about his transfer than I have in a Game Of Thrones book. For me personally I think we need a goalie, proven quality CB and a Striker to help out Rom. All we seem to be linked with is Centre mids.

19 Jul 2016 09:15:09
This is easy to explain and a number of people including Eds have already explained this, as follows:

New manager in place recently, most of the players were on a break so he could not work with anyone until 2 weeks ago, he needed to see them in action for himself to ascertain what he actually wants, we all know they never played to their max under Roberto so Koeman needed to see how they reacted under his training regime, now that he has just come back from a week away he will have an idea who he actually needs, ignore all the rumours about who we are supposedly in for as we never divulge info, we may have never even been in for Wixsel in the first place, just paper talk, this will be the week when things start to happen both in and out, patience comes to those who wait and we have waited a while so sit back and enjoy the ride.

19 Jul 2016 09:33:49
Because players want to sign for those already in Europe. not wait a season or 2.

Personal opinion only but the root of a lot of our problems is our CEO (ex? ) and yet he still managed to wangle a seat on the board.

With the Euros, a new manager and holidays for players it will not be quick in getting players.

I've said this before but for me the most important thing for Everton was the new manager. We already have a very good team but it lacked direction, routine and development.

Koeman likes to take his time in purchasing players and even at Southampton when they sold half his team he didn't panick buy.

You can only put out 11 players and we've had so called poor players in the past but with good management have had success.

People say its just like Everton this but if you asked 99% of clubs around the world would you like to be in our position every one would say yes.

Teams like Villa and Newcastle are teams run badly. Not ours.

Patience blues. It will all come good.

NSNO COYB IRKWT.

I agree that we're not yet at panic stations, but the 'still assessing what we've got' line is beginning to wear thin. There are, after all, a fair few teams who have new managers this year, all of whom have been active in the transfer market.

Also, whilst it's true that Ronnie has a track record of getting players late in the window, these normally follow a few very early signings.

We all know that there are deficiencies in the team that need to be addressed and time is definitely running out to create a settled and solid team - let's not forget that there's still a sizable chance that we'll lose Stones and/ or Lukaku.

I really am trying to remain calm (I know it might not sound it from this post) but have to admit that I've lost a lot of the optimism of a few weeks back.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2016 19:01:49
There have been about 15 signings costing more than £10m in the premier league so far this transfer window. The eds have said we are working on deals for players and i've no doubt we will make signings that improve our squad before the window shuts.
