Ill be gutted if Stones goes but to say we are a feeder club is daft. Every club is a feeder club to whoever wants to sign one of their players.

Man utd are real madrids feeder club after beckham and ronaldo. Liverpool is citys and so on and so on.

If he goes he goes. We'll get some good money and buy some decent players. Gutted yes but jumping off a cliff? No. Not over any player.

{Ed025's Note - what if we get good money but dont spend it john?..

19 Jul 2015 23:26:10
That is probably what will happen ed.

Show me a cliff in that case ed.

19 Jul 2015 23:52:58
Then there is a question to be asked on 1st September. Not on 19th july. Month and a half to go Ed. Who knows what will happen. This board have never not given money when its been there and wouldn't expect it to pull funds now.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - that sounds like you are saying that if we sell stones we will have money to spend john....surely with the sky dosh we can afford some top players even if we dont sell mate..

20 Jul 2015 23:20:06
Who says we cant? Its still a month and a half. Most teams have not signed loads of players or had the big signings. We all need a little patience. Judge us on th the 1st sep as I said.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2015 21:06:39
So apparently we are not a club that needs to sell and judging by years gone by we are not a club that buys either. Just so frustrated with our board at the moment. Our club is stood still whilst others are moving forward

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - no argument from me revs..

19 Jul 2015 20:18:08
I don't think this club could take the backlash of selling Stones. I think most fans expect him to leave at some point but not now, maybe in 3 or 4 years if we haven't progressed (which let's face it, we won't). For me the board and yes that includes everyone from Kenwright to Elstone and all in between, whilst they have done a terrible job anyway, it would be unforgivable to sell Stones for a price of 26m, even doubling it for me would be tough to say yes to (yes, tought to say yes to) as he is such a special player and great lad. I have no doubt a similar backlash would happen if Barkley was to get sold but I think less people would be annoyed. Even though u want to sell Barkley the point still stands. I already cannot stand the board and Martinez is treading on some mighty thin ice already. But if they sold Stones now, I could not forgive either, I would want Martinez and every board member gone, I know that makes no sense but the club would, for me, struggle to love anymore. What annoys me is I bet Stones goes for a derisory amount of money, like I would nit be suprised with 25m and someone not any good like Bamford on loan. I think our board would love to sell him, money money money. Imo, we should reject ANY offer for Stones. He does not want to leave (yes I have an actual source for that) but I worry the club will force him out to pay off some debt or something stupid, he is the best English Centre Back, one of the best young centre backs in the world, maybe the best. We cannot get rid of him, don't care who they offer on loan or how much they offer, we cannot sell him, his value will only increase in the next few years, why cash in now, why? Because we have a very stupid board and a very stupid manager. Ah, I can dream.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - this does not happen very often...but i agree with you mate..

19 Jul 2015 21:27:45
Hate to say it but we've seen it all b4 Rooney, big Dunc, lescott,Arteta,Rodwell but if we had to sell Barkley would b the one & keep stones @ all costs.
Like u though can't see us doing much in next few yrs unless there is a dramatic change within the club I.e.billionaire owner so its inevitable champs league clubs will be like vultures trying to prize away our better players.

19 Jul 2015 21:31:58
Good honest assessment of the situation that swan. I do feel we will eventually lose stones and I have said before that Chelsea will look to him as Terrys replacement but I didn't expect them to come in this season as Terry has signed on for another season. Realistically what game time will stones get if he leaves this season? We need to knock back any offers for our youngsters and look to build our future rather than sell to make the already better even better, helping the top sides move even further away whilst we stand still or even worse go backwards. This is our chance to show some ambition and say no chance at any price, but as you say swan the board want profits for the pockets and not success on the field.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2015 23:09:27
If he goes to Chelsea this summer I think he will be a bench warmer for 2 years, I see Terry playing another 2 years. He may be a bench warmer for even longer if Terry wants to play even longer. Stones is miles Better than Zouma though, but I would not be suprised if Mourinho did something silly and put him in Midfield or Right Back in the cup games, as I cannot see him getting game time in them at Centre Back. Mourinho bangs on about wanting to guve youth a chance yet he is yet to do it. 3 games to Loftus Cheek and a cameo for Ake and Brown does not register as enough, though it might for Mourinho. They have Cahill, Terry, Zouma, Ivanovic (if needed), Kalas, Christensen and Ake all as options. Stones knows he is first choice here, for me it would make no sense to go there.

Did anyone think that Martinez when he came would have a few gems from the Spanish reserve or lower leagues up his sleeve I'm good wasn't an unknown quantity I'm really disappointed with this side of his management style

If Stones stays the clubs gunna have to up his wages. Can't value someone over 30 million and only pay him 30k a week. Wages will have to be doubled at least.

Even if they treble it he'll get more @ chelsea

19 Jul 2015 20:21:25
Top young English players are always going to be in demand. We have also shown in the past that we will sell. Stones is a top player and I dearly want him to stay at Everton. One thing I can't see him doing is to treat the club with disrespect.
We need to do two things to keep our best players. Firstly show more ambition in the transfer market and secondly if the club rate Stones as highly as the fans, he really should have been on more money. I know he earns more a week than most fans do a year but that's football. You have to pay the going rate.
The game is awash with TV money with more to follow. Come the January window I can see any club with a half a chance of relegation splashing big money to stay on the gravy train and paying top wages too.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2015 15:55:18
It's not up to Stones to say he wants to stay he has done that already. It is up to Roberto to make an official statement saying that Stones is not for sale to Chelsea or any one else. any advance by Chelsea after that could be reported to the Football league. He really needs to end this once and for all

Well after watching that 'phenominal' performance I can only hope that things can only get better. Where can we begin, we have bought in a worse No10 than we had last year, a centre forward (and I use the words lightly)who has a worse first touch than a brick wall, a midfield that think passing sideways and back is progressive. We do have a decent back 4 (or 7 if you count Garbutt, Galloway and Browning)IF we keep them, but I can see Stones on his way before the season starts, and despite the denials Evans bought in for a 'bargain' £10 mil.I've supported BK through all the stick he has received, but now I'm asking the question of where's the money gone, over the park Rogers is spending money like a kid in a sweet shop. What have we spent? Is it the board is not prepared to give Martinez the money to spend? If not why not? Would any one else not be surprised to see Moyes riding over the horizon to the rescue before Christmas.

19 Jul 2015 15:34:26
It is obvious we need to get cover in for the cb position, especially since we lost two this summer. But the window is open for a while yet so let's not panic too much. Which cf are you referring to GTB? If it's Kone then I couldn't agree more, totally out of his depth imo, no better than Victor or Jelovic but doesn't score as many!
I believe funds are being held back somewhat, RM has 10 games or so to prove he can still cut it at EFC. Maybe the board don't want to sanction too much money being spent if he ends up going before Christmas? Time will tell eh

Why are we not going for Yarmalenko he was outstanding against us in Europe league. Looks like Stoke are in for him at 13.5m that's nothing for a player with his ability.

Posted same thing on here yesterday the lad is top quality.
We ain't got anyone that can unlock a defence & put lukaku in

19 Jul 2015 20:07:02
Agree he is a class act. Best two players I saw against us in EL were him and De Bruyne. If the fee Stoke are reputedly to be close at is correct it does seem value. Surprised he's not linked with a CL club.

Right can someone explain to me what people don't understand abour Martinez final sentence on the Chelsea Sones bid. because not only Mourhinio but blues fans want Martinez to say somat else, why I don't know, when it couldn't be clearer than what he said. "John Stones is an Everton player, FULL STOP". Says it all to me, what don't you understand ffs.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2015 14:33:04
Agree Martinez did say that but I'm not naive enough to think that's the end of it.
As previous posts suggest every player has a price

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2015 14:45:15
Sounds to me as if it is personal now i.e Jose will try and land young Stones no matter what the price just to show that Chelski can get whoever they please. To quash all these rumours I think Stones needs to make it clear publicly that he wishes to stay where he is and if this is not done before the transfer window shuts I fear he will go IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2015 14:57:55
Well that's obvious. Even Messi has a value! But he's signed a long term contract so we don't have to accept until we want to accept, and as Martinez says he wants to keep who he's got, unless he can get better in. FULL STOP!

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2015 15:07:44
I would love him to stay just think we will get financially bullied until he is gone.

19 Jul 2015 16:32:51
Why would Stones come out and say he doesn't want to move to Chelsea? That would be stupid on his part to be honest. Even if he wants to stay he would be sold for the right price and publicly declaring that he doesn't want to win trophies on quadruple the salary would be naiive. Even if the Chelsea fans forgave him he would get slaughtered like Rooney and Delph for a lack of loyalty.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2015 12:49:07
Football reasons Stones should stay at Everton as an Everton fan not for sale at any price this kid will be the best centre half in prem over the next 2 years his fee will double, if we sell now for 25/30m or what ever they will come in with next time we will have to spend 15-20 for someone of his class he is future captain Everton and England, so Martinez or bill just tell mourinho what he said he is not for sale love to see if mourinho would walk away from deal

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2015 13:21:02
When I first saw Stones, I said to my son. you are looking at a future captain of England. I put it on here. There is no doubt in my mind that he has the potential to become a worlds best center half. Any fee should reflect this. The fee should also reflect the length of his current contract. I understand he has just signed a new deal, so we hold the trump card.as long as our board stay firm and demand top dollar. 20 million is half of his value in my opinion.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jul 2015 14:43:43

If stones goes we will need 2 new centre backs as promising as Galloway and Browning r they r to inexperinced at the minute we have been linked with vidic but he is to old and often injured as for evans he is just crap I would prefer to play Browning or Galloway instead of him ed if stones leaves who would be your pick of centre backs to replace him mine would be Virgil van drink from Celtic and possibly ben gibson from Middlesbrough who is a young talented centre back

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2015 16:36:15
If we already have 2 inexperienced centre backs why would we want 3 by buying Gibson? The Celtic lad is a good shout though.

Wots Martinez on abt anyway if Chelsea, city, utd anyone come in with rght offer for stones he's off.
He sez he didn't like the way Chelsea conducted themselves in making it known publicly that mourhino put a bid in.
It's happening all the time in this day & age so u better get use 2 it.
Mourhino usually gets what he wants eventually & is very clever the way he goes abt his businesses.
Last season he sold lukaku to us for 28 mill & made a very healthy profit in doing so not only that he sanctioned the loan of Atsu to us on season long loan as a bit of a sweetner.
I knew this season the tables would be turned in as much he'd try & take Barkley or stones.
Can't argue with that really can u Mr Martinez.
Mourhino top top manager see making u look a mug for the muppet u really are.
Our club is to big for u & your way out your depth can't handle it so pack your bags & do 1 b4 u take us to where Wigan are today.

I guess you'd want Martinez to say "I'm really happy Chelsea released the story in the papers. I really hope it unsettles the player and he comes banging on my door in the next 10 minutes king for a move".

Criticism is fine if it's just but you can't have a go at him for standing up for the club. Everyone has a major go at him and the club for not coming out and saying this player is not for sale and that player is not for sale. Here you are, having a go at him for now coming out and doing exactly that.

Fans like you bore me to death.

What's the bet Stones gets sold to Chelsea and then they loan him back to us for a season, I think Chelsea will make an offer our board simply can't refuse as the old saying goes everybody has there price accept nothing less than 40 mill and if it is that amount in the end I hope the board let's Martinez spend it and not sit on it. Bad feeling it's going to be a deadline day deal now knowing our board.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

So obvious in 2 games v prem opposition nice passing no end result one goal in both games can the manager and board not see the same obvious signs from last year! We need another creator and finisher!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2015 13:22:07
What makes me laugh is the whole country and Management at Everton keep telling us we've got one in Barkley. The poor lad hasn't a clue how to manage a football game but gets away with 10seconds every now n then of a stupendous goal. Its not enough Ross however much he says its given him a boost the goal V Arsenal, you don't understand how to run a football match. You are ordinary as a footballer, a magician as a skilled ball player, join the circus then.

Something we need to consider is What will happen to Martinez if he sells Stones?. I am sure the board will be happy with the money and they will stand behind Roberto. BUT, how will it stand with the fans?. I think it could and should mean his exit. Roberto needs to be very careful about what he does.

Straight swap Kone for count straq. Kone is the worst player in the league in fact I reckon he would struggle getting a game in the A-League he is so bad yet Martinez plays him. We are in for a long season and longer if lukaku gets injured.

19 Jul 2015 00:17:56
I think now is the time for Martinez & Co too sign a marquee player, a signal of intent to the current players and fans that we are trying to improve and want to move forward as a club.If they fail to act now we will be picked apart by other clubs for our prize players and who can blame them.
On the current path we WILL struggle this year as we are short of quality in key areas and one dimensional. I really really hope the everton board & Martinez know what they are doing, a lot of evertonians I know are crying for blood and not renewing season tickets until the club show ambition.
