Think we will smash Lyon on Thursday. If Liverpool can win 7.0 we can win 8.0. annoying that none of their players would get into our team yet they get a result like that. Onwards and upwards come on you blues . in koeman we trust.

Ed, any chance of deleting this toe rag? Liverpool defence have a good day and this poster suddenly thinks they are better than everyone. They might even let in 7 themselves some day soon with the defence they have.

An obvious troll who supports the reds but likes to bring his brand of 'comedy' to an Everton site! Probably best to ignore him until he gets bored!

Why does everyone think I'm a red are you joking 30 years of supporting Everton and that's what I get trying to drum up a bit of positity in a fan based that is down at the moment onwards and upwards.

I take it Maribor are pretty crap?

{Ed025's Note - i think thats a given bravo mate..

17 Oct 2017 20:22:10
He's a great young manager who's players WANT to play for him. As for you saying BOTH Hull and Boro were relegated he didn't even manage Boro so I'm not sure why your blaming him for that!

If we lose to lyon on Thursday i personally believe our europa campaign is over.
We have waited so long for a return to europe and this would be incredibly hard to take given the group we are in.
I was convinced we were easily the best team in the group but after the away debicle at atalannta and the home draw against appollon if we don't get 3 points then all remaining games will be neyond us.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - i agree pauly mate..

17 Oct 2017 17:01:08
Respect Pauly but it didn't/ doesn't take a genius IQ to work that one out. The rub is though that Mr Koeman will still be at the Club, I even think he will be here should the result against Arsenal be negative.

{Ed025's Note - very possibly dunc..

What worries me most ed025 is the players don't seem to care.
Do they know what this means to us fans? They play like they belive they're our of their depth.
They are experienced (mainly) seasoned internationals yet they put the blue shirt on and completely forget how to play football!
Is that a fault at management level?
I just don't know anymore but something is alarmingly wrong.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its very much a managerial thing for me pauly, there are a lot of square pegs playing in round holes and i dont believe they know exactly where they are supposed to be playing, there is no cohesion between the players mate and for that there is only one person to blame..

17 Oct 2017 18:19:35
Well then it sounds like he has lost the dressing room (so to speak) and he needs to go by mutual consent.
I see a lot of young talent at our disposal that will ultimately leave the club rather than be made to look useless.
How sad that a club of our size that used to be one of the leading lights in club football can't get the simple things right anymore.
I know our academy is up there with ajax and Barcelona and I've heard that from good authority yet still seem to have a first team with no direction whatsoever.
I don't know what the solution is but i'm guessing it may be at boardroom level as well as management.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Oct 2017 18:21:25
I'm 50/ 50 as to wanting Koeman to leave. It pains me to say this as it could destroy our season but I think we should give him until after the Leicester game to see whether he can solve this problem and if not then goodbye and good riddance. Not much out there in the way of great managers at this point in the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Oct 2017 18:53:39
If the players don't know how to play for him then it will not change
Id say get rid now by mutual consent and give unsworth a try.
He won't do any worse and he might not be the answer but if we stay this way then the outcome will soon be a team that's deep in the mire with a manager who has resigned or sacked too late.
Make the change now and give the team and new manager enough time to salvage this season.
We still have a chance in europe but if it goes wrong on Thursday then its over and can you see us qualifying next season?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no chance pauly..

Craig Shakespeare has just been sacked by Leicester as his start this season is deemed not good enough and they are looking for a replacement to move them forward. I wonder if they want to take Ron off our hands please. In all seriousness, that is not a knee jerk reaction by the Leicester board, it is a decision based on football and performances so far this season, now if only our board would sum up our results and season to date and do the decent thing and sort out a severance package for Ron and a compensation package for Rafa, after all based on current form we are in the brown stuff and I honestly can't see how the current setup gets us out of it. Let's have it right, this isn't a slump in form, this is a crisis. The team selections are wrong, the tactics are wrong and at the moment we couldn't score in a brothel, no width, no passion and no commitment. The fans want a change and by the looks of it due to performances on the pitch, the players do too.

I honestly think Koeman wanted to play his 352 for the most part but Baines being under par and no decent option on the right has put paid to that at least until Coleman is back. He now doesn't know how to fit the guys into any other formation and that has knocked all their confidence. First and foremost he needs to stop tinkering, pick a team and formation and play them for 4 or 5 games regardless of results. That is the only way he is going to turn this around.

Not surprising Bluejay this is a club that sacked their previous manager because Vardy and co wanted them to. The last thing Everton need is to copy them lot.

Smit666, the Ranieri treatment was disgusting after what he achieved the season before but if the players ain't playing for the manager that can spell disaster and possible relegation, which in turn has financial implications, so whether its morally correct or not football is a business and the playing staff earn the points on the pitch. I would say a few of our players have definitely lost their respect for the manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Oct 2017 09:00:09
I hope not Bluegray because it is Koeman who has given Klassen, siggy, Rooney and Sandro their chance so to have turned after a handful of games is disappointing but I don't think that is the case. I think we they are struggling to adapt to a new style, team mates and positions which is why I am sure we will come through this. A couple of wins as hard as they are to come by and I think we would see a different attitude.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Oct 2017 10:24:18
If you look at the different fixture lists I think RK will get a bit more leeway to turn things around and quite rightly so. I agree with you Smit666 i think RK preferred starting formation is a 352 and i like you would like a consistent selection but I like the way he changes tactics during matches to try to win if its not working something we never got from our last two managers. I also think that some of the new players are taking a lot longer to adapt than he hoped for. I think that is down to a loss of form from some of last seasons players and injuries severely weakening the the team.

I don't mind him tinkering mid game but there are partnerships that need to be built. Centre mid, centre defense and the 9 and 10.

Niasse not in Europa squad. Now Garbutt (the only genuine left back cover we've got) can't be registered till January another over sight from RK talk about forward planning! but what do you expect for 120k a week?

The way I see it, we only have two good, realistic options should we sack Koeman. One of them is Unsworth. He knows the club and would bring stability. Maybe we give it to him interim until Christmas and see where we are then.

If we got the likes of Howe or Dyche, they would still represent a risk and they have as much experience as Unsworth at managing a club of our stature and with our lofty ambitions: zero. If we go for the likes of Fonseca or Favre, then theh could end up being a Mourinho or a Pochettino, but could also potentially be a Villas Boas or a Van Gaal. The likes of Ancelotti will not come to us.

The second realistic option is Benitez. He would jump at the chance to come here, still has his house on the Wirral, has experience of winning, managing top teams and of the Premier League.

So for me it's a choice of two (although I do quite like Marco Silva if I had to pick a third, despite him not fitting the criteria I set above) .

Unsworth hasn't been given a chance because we had just been taken over (49.9 percent worth) and needed a big name in order to extend our profile. But actually I profile at the moment has been damaged. I don't think the board are going to knee jerk and see them giving Koeman until January, unless of course the unthinkable happens and we continue with this downward trend, then he will be off.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Oct 2017 10:03:41
Unsworth is doing a great job with the U23's, its becoming a great development centre for young talent, if he takes over the first team, crashes and burns we have lost a great servant, he does not have the experience at this time and will need to develop elsewhere first.
Even experienced managers are struggling here, most were really excited at the prospect of Koeman, it also shows that the extra money does not always add success straight away!

Agree3 Disagree3

17 Oct 2017 10:50:12
Well Unsworth could not do a worse job than Koeman.

Agree4 Disagree0

17 Oct 2017 11:57:08
We could have an agreement that if it doesn't work out then Unsworth can have his old job back. I'm led to believe that Craig Shakespeare had the same at Leicester (not sure if it's still valid now he's permanent though) . And I agree, anything has to be better than at the moment.

An Irish Red here Tommy. Just a genuine question. Would the Everton supporters, as a whole, be happy to accept Rafa as a replacement? I do reckon he would be interested but thought that history would have meant a deal would be unlikely.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Oct 2017 17:35:36
David Unsworth, with Joe Royle on hand for the partnership and experience, worked well in the one game they took charge, short term til xmas see how it goes, f successful problem solved, if not go for a manager who can come in December, assess and take action in the January window if needed.

The manager needs to change, not the team, it does not look like Koeman will change his tactics or personnel so cannot see anything improving.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Oct 2017 23:39:57
Macko, I think it would divide opinion. There are many who would not want him to start with and would be there ready to say "I told you so" if he fails. Talk of "Agent Benitez" from Reds would have them in a blind fury should we lose a couple. However, if he is successful, I think most anger would dissipate pretty quickly. I don't think that he would normally be someone I would choose but it's desperate times and he is a successful, proven manager who would undoubtedly improve us.

Bazwil, I was just thinking the other day that Unsworth would need an experienced assistant to guide him (so not Big Dunc, maybe he could try and coach the U23s? ) Royle would be the perfect man to get on board. Good shout.

ed25. I know the board don't invite you in for sandwhiches and beer when there is a big decision to be made, but you don't get your infomation from listerning at key holds, so, if we get kicked out of europe on thursday, is he gone or not, your best guess!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think he will be given more time even if we lose to lyon JCW, but that is just a guess mate..
