I have to ask ed. Why no? i'm assuming you think it would be a bad signing.

{Ed002's Note - I was answering the question that was asked.}

Only looks good because they won . he can't catch a ball and is playing in a poor league not for me he can stay in Portugal.

Have to agree with konehead. There's plenty of good shot stoppers around but if a keeper can't command the box properly and come to claim crosses he will be a liability. From watching him in he past, iv never seen him do that too well. Will admit though that I haven't watched him too much over the last couple of years so I suppose he could have improved that side of his game.

Unless there is substanyially more than 100 million on the table from Mr Mori. then I am with Tbone1961. I have heard all these rumours and such. but if we are that big an attraction, where are the signings? Maybe one of them but all. no way.

Moshiri has said that ronny gets the money from sales so if stones goes then that's up to a 1 50mil, possibly more as there was a tweet from it win koemans son that states ronny Been given carte blanche to build a team that can challenge for champions league. anything he wants.

I hope we forget witsel and move on. If there was ever a player who looks more trouble than he's worth its him. Like us to lose interest and go get schneiderlin.

I see it's been said that stoke are intrested in McCarthy, I think this is one where if we sold him it's then we would see what he brings to our team, it's not always the players that play the great passes or scores the goals it's the hard working players that run around breaking up the play, or stops the other team playing, he's never a match winner, but he's a worker and all teams need these players to let the others shine, what does anyone else think.

17 Jul 2016 12:21:40
I agree. Stupid media during Ireland games picked him and singled him out. Why they do it on their own players? For attention I believe. Dunphy just loves giving outlandish comments to make headlines.

That opened the door for others to do the same. Gets far too much stick IMHO.

Totally agree with you on this one.

I think he is a koeman type of player so should stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 17:19:52
He is a player that can do the stuff most midfield players don't want to that is run all day tackle and most importantly let other midfielders get most of the praise. Seen a few on here in the past complain about him but they also complain about Barry and others these players may not be looking for the shot from 30yards or the pass from 50yards it's the tackle and 5yard pass that you forget about after the game but that tackle could of saved us from conceding. I hope we keep him.

17 Jul 2016 19:11:47
He's a 100% player and gives everything on the pitch.

However, he is one dimensional and his passing is very negative. I believe Besic has much better potential as when he has the ball he looks to move it foward. Other than tackling which is usually last gasp because he has poor positional play, he doesn't offer much else.

Maybe this is because of Martinez's influence though and Koeman can sort this out. He has a lot to learn though.

Using wifi so quick post. I see all my negative previous posts (negative as I was told) were not so far from the truth. We seem to be having great difficulty signing anyone and 100 million seems an inadequate amount. My statement that supporters need a reality checkand all the initial enthusiasm needed to be kept in check seems about right now. So many people coming on here panicking and moaning about Niasse and lack of signings and Joe Allen etc. Calmness is what is needed and a reality check. 100 million is nothing these days and our league positition of last 2 seasons means the real top players would rather talk to other more successful clubs. Someoine said to me "money talks" and we would be signing top players. Well in the words of Dianna Ross. I'm still waiting".

What is it you are waiting for? Us Evertonians obviously know where we would like to strengthen because we know the squad. RK is assessing his squad in Austria and no doubt in friendlies when the whole squad will be back together, then he will be in a position to look at what's out there to improve the team based on what he's seen.

Oh how I would have loved to have heard your wedding speech Degsy! We will make signings that I amay sure of, we are 4 weeks away from the start of the season so I'm not reallying panicking and if the rumours are true about our incoming DOF then maybe just maybe that is what the hold up has been all along. So please just refrain from your negativity and your 'I told you so' attitude it is getting boring. Thanks.

{Ed041's Note - play nice :)

I don't really see a great deal wrong with Degsy's post, whilst he has made some valid points his " I'm still waiting " comment can be considered " baiting " and his opening does come across somewhat negative.

Koeman has a reputation for leaving his signings until the last minute and he does have a very healthy budget to get the right players when HE DECIDES the time is right.

Degsy is right when he say's £100m seems like an inadequate amount as nearly all of the premier clubs have this kind of cash now what I think he is missing, is the fact that we are one of the few clubs that would be willing to spend this amount.

I also think he is right in saying that we may just be expecting a little too much this season, yes we have the manager, yes we have the cash, but what we do not have is a recent history of success. We must also bare in mind the damage RM has done to the club, the players we have need to start believing again, they need to believe we are a team that can get into the top 6 year in year out. Koeman and Moshri are laying some really solid foundations at Everton, foundations that will bring us back the good years. We need to look at what koeman is doing as a two or three project and support him throughout.

He is also correct in saying we will not be able to attract the really big names to goodison, at least not yet, but we are in a position to attract bigger names than what we have been used to over the years. This is mainly down to Koeman, he seems to know everyone. More importantly those who know him all seem to respect him so it is only a matter of time before the really big names see us as a club worth playing for.

I am sure we will make some great signings this summer, next summer will excite me more though as Koeman will know exactly what's needed and can go for the higher players.

One final thought Degsy is no relation to me I just thought I would be nice for a change. You don't get the grumpy name by being nice all of the time.

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Jul 2016 11:58:11
Sorry Ed, I meant it as tongue in cheek as all Degsys posts seem to be negative.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 12:13:56
I don't think that you've been patient enough Degsy. Give RK and possibly our new DOF some tine to assess the squad and decide who would be the best fit.

I don't know on what planet you think £100m isn't adequate. For me, as long as we improve the team, and don't get ripped off too much I'll be happy. We don't need a marquee signing, just a few good players to fill in the gaps. I'd rather take our time scouting than end up with a team full of Niasses.

This squad is capable of achieving next year, all we need is a GK, a Striker and a CB if Stones goes. Anything else is a bonus in my opinion.

As for your generic Degsy Nostradamus act, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Really hoping that we sign a couple of world class players to prove you wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 13:56:42
Tommy, I don't think anyone is saying £100m is inadequate, more that with the new TV deal, many teams in the Prem have that kind of money to play with in the transfer market. Moshiri promised £100m but there was no clarity as to whether it would be the TV pot or £100m on top of that. Regarding signings I said on another forum that without the lure of European football this season we would be shopping in the 'Mercenary Aisle'in the market. Witsel seems to be proving me correct.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The money Everton can spend is constrained by rules - the supplemental income can be spent plus a small amount provided by the owners. It is not simply a free for all. If Everton wishes to decalre new investment, the rules provide for that and it can be used next summer. We have been through all of this before. Just put all thoughts of money out of your minds.}

17 Jul 2016 18:34:57
I guess my post is a bit "I told you so! "
But it is also factual and it is also not negative. It is saying to people "calm down and take a reality check. " In fact I am saying other people on here are being negative because what they want is not happening. YET. I also think my statement of peoples expectations being too high is a reasonable statement. I see some quite ridiculous rumours of signings. I would not be surprised to see Messi and Ronaldo mentioned by some supporters. Reality is that Mr Koeman will need time and as I said. a lot more than a one off 100 million.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jul 2016 21:24:13
Take my comment back then Degsy because I actually agree with you there. Rome wasn't built in a day and I for one don't want no knee jerk signings. Koeman is here for a project and to build not only a team up but our reputation as that has been damaged the last couple of seasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2016 08:31:55
I think you have to remember when Koeman first went to saints he had all their best players sold mainly to the RS, and still rebuilt late in the window with a number of players no one had heard of and still had a good season.
