where's all this vardy stuff come from.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed0333's Note - now that’s a player you can get excited about

18 Jan 2018 08:32:36
Think we in dreamland if we think we can get vardy. I would love him but he turned down arsenal so why would he come to us?

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Jan 2018 09:00:02
something of nothing bluey, just the usual echo crap, he's an outside 10/ 1 to join us so they think its a transfer story.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2018 16:22:41
I would love to see how a four four two would work with cenk and vardy up top I think it could be a very good partnership.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2018 06:51:57
can't see it happening though ED0333.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - I never thought Sanchez would go to Utd so never say never

17 Jan 2018 22:49:49
Struggling to think how this is going to work?
Walcott on one wing, bolasie on the other with Cenk in the middle. Stick Siggy (not Wayne) in the middle and that's a pretty good attacking front four. Gueye and Davies holding, and a back four from any of six.
Do what Reidy and Bracewell used to do. Win the ball and give it to Sheeds or Steven to play the killer pass.
I can dream.

Woburnblue: imho, we need to stop just thinking about the starting eleven - or even the matchday 18 (including subs) - and instead consider the squad of players (over-21 and under-21) that a PL club needs to deal with all the matches (League and Cup) and to cope with injuries and suspensions. Every club makes changes to its lineup throughout the season and it’s up to individual players to perform well and keep their place - or to take their opportunity when they get the chance.

Agree0 Disagree2

18 Jan 2018 11:14:15
The saquad is fine for me in that way as we have great youth players. We need quality, proper quality in certain areas. Filling the sqaud with loads of signings won't work. Its not that we need loads of new players, its just what we lack is glaring and concentrated.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2018 12:32:14
Fair points ladies thank you 😀.

We need to lose a few, otherwise we’ll not be able to register them all. Who goes? Schneiderlin?

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 23:07:31
Just reading Vardy is getting strong bets on for us. now that would be direct action to fix our lack of pace.

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Jan 2018 00:33:05
None of the linked names surprise me these days, but the idea that we could prise Vardy away from Leicester City seems utter fantasy.

Agree5 Disagree1

17 Jan 2018 20:51:30
So many on here hate Sam and want him gone, each to their own opinion i guess. However, i hear Walcott chose to come here because he wants to work with Allardyce. I honestly expected him to favour a move back to Southampton so now very happy to see him in our famous blue. It appears that Sam may have some pulling power when it comes to bringing in players after all. I don't know why this is, but if players want to come to us purely because of the manager we have then his appointment has great benefits.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

17 Jan 2018 21:06:25
Good old Sam lol.

Agree1 Disagree5

17 Jan 2018 22:01:14
Because Alardyce doesn't talk BS and has a personality. Never the less I still do not like the pundits predictions visa vis lineups even with Walcots arrival and to be honest if it continues I just do not understand it. Most still have Rooney through the middle with Siguurdson (arguably the most creative) out on the left wing.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2018 07:51:04
Every player that moves to a club says the same thing.

We need to lay off the Sam thing and stop trying to convince people to like or hate him. Whether it's you don't like him or do, it doesn't matter. Let's start talking football for a change.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Jan 2018 09:04:44
every player when they join a club say its down to the manager. its a thing they can think of when getting interviewed by a club, I suspect the fact were not as low as Southampton twisted his arm with rooney also being a factor.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2018 12:21:01
A back 3 and 2 wing backs need only 1 holding in midfield. Then Sig an Rooney behind 2 Tosun and Walcott.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2018 16:09:29
Why does pointing out that we have had no shots on goal in the league in Jsnuary equate to hating Sam?

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 19:33:13
£48M+ spent and no LB.

Sack everyone,

17 Jan 2018 19:38:22

Agree2 Disagree3

17 Jan 2018 19:59:06
Heard we were after baba rahman grumpy. Left back has got to be the next player signed you'd think.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 20:30:41
Hasn't ripped it up at Chelsea but obviously plenty of players who have moved on from there and done alright. rahman wouldn't be my favourite though.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 20:44:42
I would quite like him with us but I believe Shalke are looking to have him back.

Agree1 Disagree2

17 Jan 2018 21:00:26
Why not play Davies there. Think he could do the job, and would keep him involved.

Agree0 Disagree3

17 Jan 2018 22:10:26
Baba Rahman? Every time I’ve seen him for Chelsea the winger he is up against roasts him to pieces, no thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jan 2018 09:05:46
why on earth would we play a right footed midfielder left back, all that would do is damage his confidence and he'd end up getting abuse.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 19:20:42
Well boys an girls how good does he look in that top?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

17 Jan 2018 19:48:07
At least he is smiling mate, looks like he actually wants to be at Everton in the famous Blue Shirt, not like some of the others I might add.

Agree1 Disagree3

17 Jan 2018 19:50:09
I know its a highlight reel on Sky Sports but one thing i do like is Walcott's persistence he gets knocked down tripped whatever and just keeps going and gets back to his feet!
I am looking forward to him buzzing about the pitch for us.

Agree3 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 19:58:40
100 % improvement on what we have had mate under the last regime.

Agree2 Disagree3

17 Jan 2018 20:15:21
Although he does have quite the injury record, its better than Sahas was when he arrived, all those many moons ago and he stepped up with something to prove. If we signed Walcott say two years ago, we would probably be overjoyed at the ambition of the club and hail him as a marquee signing. He's had bad luck with injuries, but still has decent pace, and he's hardly been given much of an opportunity by Wenger, who hasn't really managed his development very well. Regardless of any opinion of big Sam, Walcott is a good fit for him, so surely a surge in positivity will at least get us closer to the 13 points we need to stay clear of the drop that much quicker. My only concern is the effect on the development of Lookman that this signing might cause. Hope Theo is a revelation. Thing is, he really could be.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 20:18:21

Agree1 Disagree3

17 Jan 2018 19:01:45
If anyone is sold its for the sake of the club, every player has a price, the problem is replacing that player with like to like or better COYB.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

17 Jan 2018 19:19:32
Which definitely has happened with Theo n Mirallas!

17 Jan 2018 19:31:29

17 Jan 2018 20:01:04
Glad to see the back of Miralles.

Agree2 Disagree3

17 Jan 2018 20:28:04
Tom Davies should not be sold under any circumstances. He has a bright future and it should be with us. Would send a terrible message if he was sold in this of any of the next few windows. He should have a release clause that just says "silly money".

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Jan 2018 11:17:25
Not to be sold under any circumstances.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 18:48:06
Does anybody know how long it’ll be until Seamus is back in the first team squad? While Kenny has been a bright spot this season, he isn’t anywhere near the attacking threat Seamus is on his day.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, the club have not given a date.}}

17 Jan 2018 18:16:29
Excellent signing exactly the type of player we have been crying out for, with Cenk and Theo up front something we have missed for so long goals will come, LB next and I will be made up this window, good on you Sam.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

17 Jan 2018 18:29:27
Got to say Guernsey I'm made up to see him in the blue of Everton, and looking forward to seeing him link up with Cenk at the weekend.
And I'm with you get a LB in and I too will be happy with the window.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 18:30:41
couldn't agree more Guernsey it's going to be interesting to see the teamsheet on Sat I wouldn't be surprised to see Bolasie miss out with Rooney in the no10 and sigs out which is a mistake in my eyes I would drop Rooney and play sigs no10 with Bolasie LW.

Agent Rooney brokered the deal as well, good addition Theo, 19 goals in 29 starts for Arsenal last season so knows were the net is, can play across the front, hopefully the team sheet on Saturday includes both him and Bolasie supporting Tosun, Sigurdsson just behind them with Gana and Rooney in a deeper role.

Bang on mate.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 15:52:22
I think if Sandro goes on anything other than a loan deal to sharpen him up for next season it'll be a huge misstep by Everton. He's barely been given enough time to show what he is capable of. If he is sold the message to potential targets of the future is 'No excuses. You better hit the ground running or else'. I know we want and expect 'noting but the best' from our players, but there has to be some understanding and help and support when it doesn't go that way immediately.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i tend to agree BigH..

17 Jan 2018 16:34:27
Can add klassens to the list aswell H. Again he's another very good player who hasn't had a chance. When he did play there were 10 other players playing just as bad at the time.

Then again vlasic and lookman also need game time. I guess its just finding the balance/ form to allow them game time.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 18:05:31
We have more solutions within the club then most think in my opinion and i agree with you Anomblue.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 15:48:31
we must take the longest of any club to confirm a transfer sky sports and paul joyce reported last night that medical and personal terms were agreed and an announcement would be made immenatly even Tosun has just said in his interview what great signing Walcott is and guess what still nothing from our club ha ha anybody got any ideas why.

Agree1 Disagree5

17 Jan 2018 15:42:04
Totally agree with the comment about Luke Garbutt below. He may be better than Martina but he's now a 24 year old playing in an under 23 league. To me, that doesn't show him to be premier league standard. He only play a couple at Wigan so can't see what the major hype is. Remember the coaching staff will see him everyday and so if he was good enough, I'm sure they'd be going to every effort to register him now we have had outgoings.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

17 Jan 2018 16:36:00
He could not play because he was not registered, Koeman's fault. If he had been registered we would know about his ability since I can't see that he would have been any worse than Martina. He may not be the long term answer but for God's sake why does everyone right him off without giving him a chance. Big Sam made the comment that he had not looked at Garbutt since he was not part of the 25 registered players and his focus was on those 25 at the moment.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 14:14:59
Feel gutted about Sandro, for wahtever reason, Koeman sucked the life out of him, n now Sam is doing the same. Last Summer he was the one player i wanted, he had all the things we've not had at EFC for ages as a Striker, Skill, Control, Football brain and goals. I just seriously can't believe he's just lost all that but at 22/ 23 maybe the move was too much for him and the learning curve for the Prem to big. However i do feel he would if we kept him become what he was, he just needs time and nurturing in the ways of the Prem. At £6m its not a loss to wait for him to transform, he is believe me a fantastic footballer.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

17 Jan 2018 15:31:40
All is not lost Howie, just look at where Niasse was 6 months ago. Things quickly change in football so fingers crossed.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 18:38:18
very true.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 14:09:06
Identify player - make offer - get offer accepted - pass medicial - agree terms. Everton showing if the player is right and wants to join then they are capable of doing transfers. Maybe they have done every mistake now or it's players/ agents which are/ were the issue previously. Well done Board on this occasion.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

17 Jan 2018 13:29:34
Really need to stop mentioning Garbutt. Yes he'd be better than Martina but we need a long term experienced left back. Sorry but Garbutt not the answer, he went out on loan to Fulham to gain experience n failed miserably by all accounts, been in u-23 since n not registered for 1st team. He is 24 and quite frankly is still inexperienced. We need a proper exp Prem left back or Euro exp left back as Baines sadly (im a fan ) has had his day, struggled last 2 Seasons really.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

17 Jan 2018 12:35:31
I don't blame Martina as he has tried his best fair play to him. The disasterous failings are not down to him but the decisions of people who were/ are at the club. Respect for battling through, must be difficult for him. New LB NOW PLEASE!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

17 Jan 2018 12:43:12
Totally agree Martina is in a no win situation he was bought as a back up for RB which is about his level and not as a full time left back. He is obviously seen as the best option we have at the moment as the last 3 managers have selected him there. LB needs to be sorted out with a genuine back up be that Baines when fit or Garbutt or new signing.

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Jan 2018 15:35:52
Come on guys. Just because he is played out of position doesn't give him the right to amble around the pitch like he's out shopping. I have some sympathy for him but he doesn't really help himself sometimes.

Niasse is not blessed with quality but he runs his heart out for this club and we should accept nothing less from these players who aren't up to the quality of the prem.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Jan 2018 18:12:59
Im content with his effort. Its just his skill levels and ability on the left that bother me. there's no suprise to how he's been, we should not have got him. That is the clubs fault. To not cover LB is rhe clubs fault. He did okay at chelsea considering and the fans gave him so much grief in the stands i was embarrased. Give the lad a break. Balls went int9 the box but we could deall, getting too tight and getting turned would have lost us that game. I coukd point out loads 9f wrongs with loads of players but don't believe i personal persacution.

what one of these strikers that has been named or told they can leave would you sign:
carrol, iheanacho, defoe, hernandez, batshuayi, benteke, deeney,
out of these i would go with iheanacho 1st then batshuayi, the kids got great protential
as for an left back, i'd give garbutt a run, and hope baines recovers, then in the summer pick up a young decent left back.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

personal preference out of that list would be hernandez as i think him feeding off cenk could work brilliantly.

Tony Cascarino saying he reckons Theo Walcott is worth double what we have paid for him and we could now have a three prong attack with Yannick Cenk and Theo, defences will not like that, looks like we have grabbed a bargain, bring it on Big Sam LB next.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

17 Jan 2018 10:40:29
I agree, we played 45 million for sigy and Walcott has got a lot more goals than him, so 20 million is a bargain, and let's not forget who Walcott has had to fight for positions with, world class players, if we can get 10 goals from him till the end of the season it will be a big big bonus.

17 Jan 2018 11:52:18
i am genuinely excited by that front three with sig behind them gana and jimmy mc sitting behind them sam is building a team here and i for one can't wait to see what we can do with it, am gunna throw it out there between this window and the summer coming i can see us top 4/ 5 next season with cenk battling Kane and lukaku for top goalscorer.

i await the negativity and the depressing thumbs down from most on here but let's give Sam the time he needs to sort out the mess he was left. his 2 signings so far have been excellent and well done farhad for backing your manager in the jan window.

positive thinking breeds positive results let's not go into Saturday miserable let's get behind the lads and the sams and win!

I hope you’re right Johny. I can’t see it myself because the top 6 are much stronger than everyone else in the league at present. Arsenal seem to be dropping every year so maybe over the next few years we could pass them but the other 5 are way ahead of us. I knew this season would be a transition with all the new signings but I thought we’d be battling Leicester to be the best of the rest (7th) or even 6th if one of the others had a bad season. I didn’t think we’d be loitering above relegation.

On his day he's a very very good striker, injuries have hampered him big time, if he wasn't that good the top teams wouldn't be sniffing around, i would have him.

Let Chelsea have him and let us have Llorente.

I see the positives. He’s excellent in the air. But he’s also made of crisps and guarantees a red card or two.

Big carrol fan :) always enjoyed watching him, enjoy his style. Always sign him on fifa haha. BUT can't believe people think he would be a worth while signing for us.

Apparently Walcott completed medical and agreed terms. Hopefully see pictures in blue shirt soon. Think he'll be good for us. Pace and experience.

If Theo can remain fit and uninjured I think he'll have be a good signing for us. However, although we don't know what's going on behind the scenes, the apparent lack of urgency in securing a decent left back is worrying as that is surely our weakest area. Maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised and it'll be sorted well before the last few days of the window.

We must assume Baines must be close to fitness?

Baines or no baines we need a left back. We do have players in other positions that can balance the team out i.e vlasic and lookman. We have nobody at all at left back, never mind alternative options.
