George Green - promising career gone to waste
http://goo.gl/84oP1W

Let this be a lesson, to all our fans. I can remember telling people to give the lad time to develop. Well there we are not blaming you all but the pressure of expectancy from him was ridiculous early on and he himself says he didn't deal with it well.

Any youngsters need time some develop at different rates to others. Hope he finds himself again and settles into what is comfortable for him. Awful to hear how it affected him.

feel sorry for the lad after reading that mate, £75 a week now, talent is defo there and he is still very young so the old saying "pick yourself up and start again"

Message for Bill. Get Mourinho in now at all cost. Champions league next year with this squad.

Great job he has just done with his squad.

No thanks, we are not a big club after all. He can only manage clubs who have mega-bucks to spend on players and he has no man-management skills. Great to see him booted out but on the other hand I wished he had stayed at Chelsea until the end of the year and gotten them relegated. Bet Stones is happy he stayed.

Would like to see Townsend at Everton, still only 24 and he has goals in him, need replacements for McGeady and probably Naismith or Miralas this next window.

remember we would be dealing with Levy again and they value Townsend at 14 million. Incidentally see Crystal Palace have a 100 million investment for just over a third of the shares plus 50 mill stadium improvement. You have to wonder if Everton/Bill are ever really serious.

Oh god, 15m for him? In my opinion he's dreadful, one goal vs Moldova aside. Can't get a look in, bang average whenever he plays, not a fan, another Callum Mcmanaman, one match wonder.

read my reply to the same statement re the buying us.

Find it hard to believe you can put him in the same bracket as Mcmanaman, Townsend is still being picked for England! He always causes havoc, and one goal wonder? I think you'll find he's hit quite a few of them. He;s 24, n going to get better at Everton, ask all our young guns. I think he's worth a shout especially with what we've got, the names I mentioned before and Lennon not getting aany younger, and is he a goals man, I think not!

We CAN do better than that.

17 Dec 2015 19:09:40
Sorry no, Woy Hodgson is manager, a man who picks players based on who they play for rather than how they play. He still picks Kieran Gibbs so you saying "he is still getting picked for England! " Means nothing. Can only play on the right and is beyond predictable, not in the same league as Geri. He's poor.

17 Dec 2015 19:59:54
Townsend is bang average in my opinion. The last winger we took from Spurs doesn't even get close to the team these days (lennon) we need to be signing someone who will be in first XI.

To be fair woys the first England manager for years who hasn't picked players based on who they play for. He's given everyone a chance. He gave osman his first cap which is saying something.

Time RM realised, we can't rely on Lukaku week in week out, the team needs to be scoring more around him too, especially as he scores 1 in 5 chances he gets in games at the moment, Miralas has to come in, since Kone got his hatrick he doesn't remotely look like scoring and Barkley is shooting fro all laces trying to get worldies instead of getting in the box more, he is our 10 afterall.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

17 Dec 2015 17:17:03
Barkley doesn't play like a 10 since Doofy Loofy started doing well, he sits so much deeper. Though with no positive effect to us or him.

Read my posts from the last 2 years (not the Osman ones lol) . been saying for ages that Lukaku was a great signing and Doofy Loofy is also starting to get some consistency. but signing: Barry, MCarthy, Lennon, Kone, McGeady, Cleverly, Besic, Mori are RM's signings. They have scored 6 goals between them. And 3 were in one game by Kone. I pointed this out and got abuse 2 years ago but the pigeons are coming home to roost. At the moment we have Lukaku the goal machine bailing us out. If he stops scoring (injury or loss of form. like last season when people were slating him) we are in big trouble. It is too much to expect one player to carry the team with goals in my opinion. If you look back at Naismith, Baines, Coleman, Pieenaar, Mirallas all chipping in with 5 to 10 goals a season. if we had had Lukaku with those players we would have been much better off than we are now. that's my opinion even with all the slagging I will get. but I am pleased that someone else van see what I was saying. Thanks Howie.

Liverpool FC are changing things around this Xmas period, apparently all the kids from Alder Hey are visiting Daniel Sturridge this year.

Massive Yank investment in Palace and new 61000 seater roll out stadium for Spurs.
What about us? As usual bloody tumbleweed!
So much for the Northern Powerhouse.

They are in London. Investment will always happen there, not in Merseyside, nothing to invest in, and infrastructure is a mare, not to mention the people who live there always object and protest to any Stadiums being built there.

Good points there Howie.

17 Dec 2015 17:19:18
Not an excuse imo, LFC and Man City, they are not based in London, we aren't getting investment because our owners don't want to sell at a reasonable price. Nothing to do with London.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Dec 2015 18:06:40
Hate to say it but ya have to face it, wee not got the pull fanbase wise to match the 2 clubs mentioned so yet another reason were not worth investing in, our History ain't enough.

17 Dec 2015 18:36:04
Another way of looking at it is property/land prices in London are a lot higher than Merseyside so would it not make more sense to invest up north still getting the same income through TV etc.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Dec 2015 19:10:40
Oh yeah because Man City had such a largely successful history and fanbase before they got any investment.

17 Dec 2015 21:04:48
No, they got a ground!

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Dec 2015 21:19:38
What I mean is if you want to build around the ground etc it would cost a lot more to buy around London than to buy any property around goodison to expand or if either club wanted to relocate to a new ground then the land I would imagine be cheaper.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Dec 2015 21:45:13
As I said before, no one would move because its the way in L'pool, they would protest and kick up a fuss and the costs of re buliding Goodison has already been said, its not viable.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Dec 2015 22:30:17
Swan, City became a viable purchase because they had got the athletics stadium from whatever games it may have been, commonwealth? Half the job was already done for them and the ground had room for expansion. No brainer for anybody with cash to burn looking to buy a football team.

So the answer is Howie? what is the way forward in your opinion?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Dec 2015 08:34:43
What's the way forward in your opinion Robbie? Each club are very individual. Seems to me Everton are in a hard place. Didn't see people forming a queue in the past 25 years to invest in the club.

Current owners were the only ones to take it on when they took over. If its right for the club the club will be sold. The conspiracy theories don't add up.

If were such a good investment why isn't there investors queuing up to invest? Obviously some difficulties behind the scenes that very few know about. And they are not podcasting it. Which is wise imo.

Sadly the Kings Dock was the biggest miss we had. The problems we have are huge, because wherever is identified, investment and local people will always be an issue. The Council would rather not have anything to do with which is why they drag their heals n pretend to be active in their interest. The only way forward is if there is another but huge billionaire Kenwright out there, a blue who wants and willing to use up their money on us. The only other option is what RM is doing trying to make us a successful trophy winning team with young players. We become popular with the next generation and then a promoters and investors dream. Not a lot of hope in either really.
