{Ed025's Note - its a bit early to speculate really KJW, lots of players are being sounded out for availability, but things will change depending on where we finish, people are coming up with names of potential targets, but really only bobby and bill know the real options mate, the world cup will create a lot of problems as well, but i have faith that we will be very active in the market..

Give Roberto the tools and he will deliver! Hopefully the board now see this and will back him.
New stadium on horizon, which will be full if we get it right on pitch!

Out of curiosity Ed it all went quiet on the Red Bull meetings, did that fizzle out?

{Ed025's Note - yes mate..

Antolin imo is still class, yes he has had injuries but when he has played he was motm in each game (bar the liverpool game when he wasnt fit) and robles will stay, don't see him overtaking howard though, especially since tim just signed a new deal and why get gomis? Because he is free? i'd take bony or someone we have to pay for, if we stock up on frees it will show how unambitious the board are, duffy is rated very highly by many evertonians and by distin, not so much by most others, if he or mcaleny have a future, it has to be next season, gueye can go he is woeful, dunno where cisco is, never heard of cresswell, colback and barry yes, tello maybe and i'm not getting into another rodwell debate, all our centre backs and midfielders from the under 5s up are better, just need stones, coleman and mccarthy to sign new deals, get barry in and happy days!

Oh and westwood, there is a reason he is sunderlands 3rd choice you know

Agree0 Disagree0

We shouldn't sell Duffy. He's doing incredibly out on loan. Arguably the best player the championship.

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep duffy all day long. He ain't getting the chance because everyone else is doing ok so far

Apparently Wenger saw this coming with Palace! I know he's a few things but never knew he could see into the future! good manager trait that.

Bitterly disappointed with the result last night. I'm currently in Thailand (Koh Samui) and had to stay up until 1.45am for the start of the match last night having packed the missus and the kids off to bed. What a let down. Why drop McCarthy from a wining side? This is the second time a team formation has let us down. Remember Robles' shambolic performance in the cup game at Arsenal when he couldn't collect the ball and resorted to trying to punch each time embarrassingly for us when Tim Howard was sitting on the bench unused?
So why was James McCarthy starting on the bench? This disrupted the flow of recent results and put Gareth Barry under unneccessary pressure. That was a game we realistically needed to win with both of the Mancs coming up at home next which won't be easy.
Why is it that Everton always try to do it the hard way? A win last night would have put us above Arsenal again and would have gone a long way towards finishing 4th.
Anyway with the trouble and strife next to me on Sunday there shouldn't be any distractions when we play UTD ( a 10.15pm kick off here ) unlike last night when I was constantly being offered company!
I did try saying that the only Kompany needing looking at was going to be in the next game, but I think it got lost in the translation on top of a few too many Chang beers.

{Ed025's Note - mcarthy was injured davey, bobby put him on as a last resort, have a good time in thailand mate, and dont mess around with a lady boy daveyboy.. :)

Hi Ed, could you give us an update on Alcaraz, Gibson, Kone, and that really tall fella (toure or traore?) Also how close are Peinaar and Jags?
Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - jags peinaar and gibbo are all close QB, alcaraz seems to be injured every other week, and we are unlikely to see kone or traore this season mate..

Thats great news about Gibbo, but this traore is a waste of space. Do you know if we're paying his wages? Along woth Alcaraz, he's RM's worst signing of the season. Cheers again Ed

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we are paying a fraction of traore,s wages QB, and i agree, he has not been worth a carrot mate, i think the jury is still out on antolin though..

17 Apr 2014 17:48:43
Martinez expects traore to be back later this month or early may, gibbo could return with 2 games left, kone should rejoin the squad in a couple of weeks and alcaraz is fit, for now

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i cant see kone or traore figuring this season mate..

17 Apr 2014 18:53:18
Nah mate, when I said kone will rejoin the squad, it was for training, not to play but I think traore will play again ed, if not, martinez would of sent him back to monaco, wouldn't he?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think monaco were happy to get shut to be honest swan, he is on a loan contract till the end of the season mate..

17 Apr 2014 19:08:48
Im certain we have the option to end it if he gets injured? Qpr did it with doyle, hull with graham and st ettiene did it with chantome, tbh don't think we will miss him, got naismith

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have preferred a better loan option or maybe we should have kept Jelavic

Hi ed, I agree with most everybody here about palace being pushovers. The worse teams to be playing at the end of a season are those in or around the relegation zone. They are desperate for points and will throw the kitchen sink at you. I would much prefer playing teams who are already safe and have nothing to gain, like Man U or Southampton. I think Martinez got the formation wrong ever so slightly, would have played McCarthy from the start. Well I still think top 4 is not gone yet, Arsenal have a tricky match away to Hull, potential slip up there, hope Jelly does us a favor there. By the way ed, what's the matter with Traore.

Hi guys, been a big follower of the site and all things Everton but never registered, seems like a great place to chat about our shared passion.

Firstly, Kevin Mirallas, he seems to get a lot of stick and personally I do not agree with it - Firstly he has made 27 appearances this season (4 from sub) he has scored 7 and assisted 8 meaning he has been directly involved in 15. Not too mention his strike vs Hull which was unfortuanate to be Barry's (unsure whether he got the assist) and against Arsenal he made that goal and for me credit should be to him not Arteta OG. moving on from stats, he has passion and considering he is foreign, that passion is wonderful, he wants to win for the team and I see it in him more than most. Against liverpool, 4-0 (watched it in a pub as the only efc fan surrounded by reds) he worked his backside off, the only one who could stand up and say "Dissapointing result
but I left everything on that pitch" the 3-0 win V arsenal, his tracking back and forward thinking was exemplary, I didn't think kev had it in his game to track back but he does. Further to all of this, he had direct pace, skill, awareness, one criticism that I will accept is sometimes he doesn't pass when he should, but I think recently he has toned that down. He should score more than he should, despite what some say, he is a good finisher, cue the haters pointing to the miss v swansea, which was god awful acceptably. Next season I think he could bag 15+ after another pre season with Roberto.

now that essays out the way, last night hurt. a lot. We seem to have one big hit of dissapointment every season (last season 3-0 defeat by wigan) but this season we still have chances of fourth, its not over, arsenal will slip, and I think against Hull this weekend is a good chance, we need to beat united and give us a major boost, no rooney or RVP we have a great chance of doing the double over them

finally, i'd like to say, this season was meant to be a transitional period, instead its success, we are going to be in europe, and despite what some say I think europa league is competitive and I miss those thursday nights, I was born in summer1995, and efcs last success was the Fa Cup that year. so i'm still waiting for some success in my lifetime, we are on the verge of it, we now have a good squad, we have some cracking youngsters, and not just stones/barkley - George Green, Matty Kennedy, lundstram, Duffy, Garbutt all great for me. We adapted so well to the new system this season and with another preseason I think Roberto could make us deadly.

Oh and one positive from lastnight, scoring 2 against palace, last done by Man U, 2 months back.

Thanks for reading

Good post that mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree with everything you've said! Kev hasn't had as exciting a season as most would like, but that's because his game a changed under Martinez. He doesn't get at people as much, but he tracks back, works hard, and is passing far more. I would consider this a strong season and hopefully a platform to work on for next season. I also think that he is arguably the second best finisher in the squad.

I agree that the Europa League is, fairly, competitive, but I think that's part of the problem. It adds a substantial amount of tough games to the fixture list, without any financial reward. Look at the recent clubs to have gotten it: Newcastle, Swansea, middlesbrough, Portsmouth, Tottenham. Every one of them struggled in the season they had it and none of them won it. The team that came closest, Middlesbrough, actually got relegated.

Finally, I was born at the exact same time, May 95, so I too have never seen any real success, but think now is our best chance. We really are in a state right now were we could fall apart, or move up, depending on how Martinez manages the next few years.

When I saw the team sheet yesterday before the game, I thought, "Has RM got a new idea or something?". I looked at it and thought. "this is really some attacking team". But where are the "working" midfield link up players? The Osman's, Pienaar's or McCarthy's? The team in effect had 3 wingers in Mirallas, McGeady and Deulofeu. Then with Lukaku holding the center forward position, leaves Barkley to play a sort of holding midfield position. Either way, there were 5 attacking mids/forwards. Was the plan to have only Barry doing all the graft on his own? All round I thought the balance looks wrong. I think for once, RM got his tactics a bit muddled. Big gap in midfield and playing so many players in unfamiliar positions means that they are likely to make mistakes or not know the best way of doing things. I think that's what happened last night. Still, we all do make mistakes.as long as we learn from them.

Morning after the night before and yes it hurts but who would have guest it that we would have a fantastic oppurtunity to grab top 4.After the game last night it dawned on me when you think back to last season and beyond we were fighting for 6th at this stage but Martinez took to us to another level and I firmly believe that the wounds we suffered last night are to push us on now they will drive us forward and I would put a bet on with anybody that we beat Utd on Sunday and beat them we'll it's going to go down to the last day of the season blues.but no matter what happens from now til then it's been a cracking season and as I said a couple of weeks back the future looks very bright for us so just try to enjoy it from now til the end blues cause I still have a sneaky feeling we're going to finish 4th Coyb.

I'm very nervous regarding Sunday us fans need to get behind the team, forget spouting abuse at Moyes or Fellani, let's give Moyes the welcome he deserves, he done wonders for the club but is never mentioned by Bobby. let's tear roof off singing, we can still make the champions league it will go to the last game I guarantee.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - you may not get your wish there sunny mate..

Your statement, ". let's give Moyes the welcome he deserves. ", is open to a couple of different interpretations, Russ! My own personal one would be complete silence & indifference, but I think the whistles on Sunday will have dogs being walked in North Wales turning round!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think the crowd will give him hell to be honest tezza, but i think the crowd should just tun their backs on him mate...just like he did to us..

The best responce to moyes when he appears is for the fans to keep chanting
ROBERTO MARTINEZ and SCHOOL OF SCIENCE.
of course doing an arsenal on them (3-0) would be nice

Agree0 Disagree0

School of science a near enough full house all singing will surely make gollum age another 40 years in 90 minutes. can't wait to see it on you tube coyb!!
