Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

16 Jan 2017 23:54:20
Watched the game about eight times now, and just a couple of points maybe not been mentioned. Mori will be ok if he's told not to cross the halfway line. Gave the ball away on a few occasions were we could have been punished. I still think RK will be looking for another centre half in the summer.
Mirallas needs to be told he is starting every game. Very much a confidence player, and fight now his confidence is rightly ski high. Would start with him and maybe bring Lookman on for the last fifteen.
On another point looking forward to Soccer AM on Saturday, Davies flick between the two defenders prior to his goal has to be on there.

You don't tell anyone that they are starting every game, otherwise what's the point in having competition for places.

I agree with you Mike S but I also know what Woburnblue means about Mirallas being a confidence player. I was telling NBTB about 4 weeks ago that Mirallas was starting to show signs of a return to form. Lots of fans had written him off. Said we should get rid. but his ability was never in doubt.

His career has always involved assists and goals up until our tactics changed under Martinez. He just seemed to lose his Mojo. But I could see him really trying hard to get involved in games a couple of weeks ago. I think Koeman has got him back to where he was under Moyes. He might still have bad games, but on that form, he is one of the first on the team sheet for sure!

Great point Stef. Guess I am just one of the old farts who have heard so many times that things were to change and then the lack of investment when the so called "top 4" were created and we were left behind. Peter Johnson's fault not Bill Kenwright in my view. and then the creation of the FFP rules meaning even if we got investment, we would not just be able to spend, spend, spend like the so called top 4 did. But yes mate, with a good wind behind us, the vision of Moshiri, Unsworth and his U23's and Walsh bringing in bargains and Koeman saying it "how it is". who knows eh? With all those things in place I might just be able to turn my cynical mind around! Keep telling me mate! I did my 1st game for 2 years on Saturday and it was like the good old days. Goodison was rocking and I had tears in my eyes looking at the 40 thousand Blues. everyone was together. everyone was making every tackle. taking every shot. behind every player. and every player was behind the crowd and willing to get stuck into tackles in every position. I think I eeven saw Lukaku do a slide tackle the week before last. could you have imagined that under Martinez? Iknow it was only one game, but one game is the start of a run isn't it? let's hope it continues.

Just a thought. With the emergence of lookman and the resurgence of mirallas as well as Barkley who can play wide if required, does that spell the end of Lennon and del boy?

Consistency is the key now for us. We have shown we can compete with the best but we have to do it next week too against palace

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we will have to trim the squad geoff so they do look like 2 of the likeliest candidates mate..

16 Jan 2017 21:56:58
Agree with Ed it's invevitable that we will lose a few, especially if we are looking to bring more in. Also think Besic, Gibson and Oviedo could be on this list if they can't get over there injury problems.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 22:03:18
I agree about oviedo and Gibson going. I like besic but needs to be injury free.
I trust rk and sw to trim the squad and bring in quality players to replace them.
going to be a very interesting and exciting end to the season. Hopefully next season we may be challenging that top 6 and aiming for a trophy.

I would think so Skylark. Gives him the rest of the season to prove himself and Blues time to scout a top keeper in the summer should he fail to convince RK.

can't see another keeper coming in the window, but both keepers are prone to a howler every now and then, at this time it seems Joel is in the driving seat.

17 Jan 2017 10:02:00
I saw a stat yesterday that he has one of the highest save percentages in the premier league (80%) only second to De Gea (80.8%) since December 1st. I think he has definitely seized his opportunity since Steklenburg has been out.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Jan 2017 19:24:10
I do not agree with Ron saying Stek is our number one keeper, Robles has come in twice this season and done a decent job, this time Rom has to stick with Robles in goal and not drop him until a dip in form.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i must say that i prefer joel to stek as well baz, but ronnie has done nothing for me to doubt his wisdom yet mate..

Great result yesterday. Tom Davis brilliant! Ross brilliant! Marrillas, Baines, Coleman back to there best! The rest were really good! But Holegate fantastic! Got a yellow, kept but kept his head! He's definitely going to be a BIG PLAYER for us in years to come! The boy is a natural! COYB! 💙

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - thats slightly premature uran but it would be nice if he was...except without the smarmyness..

16 Jan 2017 22:27:21
His goal was as spectacular as Owen's vs Argentina in 98. The difference is Owen was a striker, while Davies also ran the midfield and cleared one off the line. I don't really like it when young players are hailed as 'the new whoever, and certainly not when our young stars are compared to RS.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 21:05:18
Must say I've been impressed with Robles lately. He's been something of an unsung hero for me and has made some really important saves. His command of the area is much stronger than what Stek's is and his distribution is much better.

I also saw a stat that he has the second best save percentage for any keeper since December (only behind De Gea) . Our defense looks much more assured when he's on the pitch.

All that is pretty impressive for a guy who basically seems to have been told by various managers on a fairly consistent basis that he's more a number 2 than a number 1.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that CT, yesterday he was right up there for MOTM for me mate..

16 Jan 2017 21:21:38
Agree with you Ed. That stop he made in the first half when Silva was free in the box was crucial. Was glad to see RK didn't just put Stek straight back in the team even though he was fit. Think Robles deserves a run of games.

Now that I've bigged him up he better not let in a howler this weekend.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - probably CT.. :)

17 Jan 2017 00:14:18
Martinez biggest downfall imho was sticking by Howard. Robles could develop into a very good keeper with time.

If I remember correctly Koeman mentioned before that he'd rather have 3 keepers of similar ability competing for the number one spot. Rather than one keeper being the clear number one with a less competent number 2.

Maybe he changed his mind on that but I'm almost certain he mentioned that in the window last summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 17:38:16
Made the weekend for me yesterday, the week in fact. Just like defeat wrecks the whole week until we can get going again. Baines and Coleman back to form, Kev getting better each time I see him, unlike last season. As for our youngsters- confirmation of the strength and quality in the youth sides. Would just love to see Davies in white boots!

Hello Eds n Blues

Only echo everyone's positive remarks about the result yesterday. Think we need to protect the kids from burnout a bit like united with Rashford so don't be surprised if RK brings them out the team over next few weeks. But Holgate for me is tremendous and hasn't put a foot wrong in any game he's played, young hungry and gives as good as he gets. Exactly the sort of centre half I want in other blue jersey.

On another note any new rumours or negotiations anyone has heard about?

Cheers

Holgate or Stones. My opinion is Holgate, more versatile and quicker, also knows the 'if in doubt, kick it out' phrase. Stones is very good I have no doubt about that and City will get him playing but are the City faithful patient enough.

Callum Connolly from our U23s? Good LB but can play anywhere in defence. On loan at Wigan and even scored two goals for them on his debut at the weekend.

Agree1 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 20:44:22
The answer to that BlueJohn is that successive Managers and particularly Koeman have not seen the need to buy in a left back, indicating perhaps we already have them waiting in the wings.

17 Jan 2017 05:26:06
Baines replacement is on loan to WBA, Brendon Galloway.
When he played last season when Baines was injured he never put a foot wrong and all that was missing from his game was his crossing ability.
I believe under a better coaching structure he will flourish and become our established LB in 2 seasons time.

I've just listened to David Unsworth on Talk Sport and I've got to say he sounds so impressive.

I am utterly mystified that we have Gareth Southgate as England manager when this guy sounds in a different class to him.

He's passionate and motivational but also sounds as demanding as Koeman himself. He gave some honest assessment on the team and the dynamical changes under Koeman and all with the impression he has a clear plan himself to get them players in that 1st team.

We are damn lucky to have this guy managing our youth and can bet you now Davies and the like will not be the last playing in that 1st team over the next couple of years.

Well done Unsy on as good a job as anyone in Europe in developing young men for the 1st team.

Being all the way down in Cornwall, I find that really refreshing to hear. Unsworth was a great servant as a player and tried to move to Villa if you remember but his heart was touched by Everton in the same way all of us was. Some players view Everton as an employer. but some fall in love and will always only have that one love. Big Dunc, Howard Kendall and Dave Hickson to name a few. I love the Dave Hickson quote, "I would have broken bones playing for other clubs, but I would have died playing for Everton". That still brings a lump to my throat. Rhino is one of a similar ilk. Although his quote would probably be, "I would have died for Everton whilst breaking the bones of opposition players! "

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 15:00:32
Always been a fan of Unsworth but I would not want him as first team manager. His strengths lay in molding players into what the team manager requires. He makes a great bridge to the boss man and his ways.

Yes if Messi had of done it, it would be goal of the month, season, century etc. It was actually 2 pieces of quite brilliant ball control that have made me view him in quite a different way. At first I thought the kid had potential to make it. Now I believe he should be starting every game. albeit with Barry or Shneids or McCarthy alongside him for when the man marking starts. He will get targetted by the opposition now for sure. This is the best breakthrough we have had since Rooney. How old is he again? What will he be like when he is 25? Wow what a prospect. Sometimes as a manager, you have to fit a player into a system. At other times you have to change the system in order to accomodate the player (when they are really exceptional) . I would say this is one of those situations. He really is ready to face the big boys and be found out how good is he?

For personal reasons that was my first match for 2 years. Set off from Gunnislake Cornwall at 4am. Cost me about £200 for me andmy lad to go. Back row in the corner of the upper gladwys. I could see the whole of Goodison rocking and the most perfect view of Tom Davies' goal including the build up. Worth every penny! Every Blue fan was making every tackle and taking every shot and every pass for all of the players. It was genuine joy. I had a Blue from the USA next to me. As Blue as anyone! NBTB . Mirallas is starting to show again. Told you mate. As long as he don't get injured he is getting there! The overall pleasing thing was we played for each other. Robles ran the full length of the pitch to celebrate one goal. Like a cup final. Next week Palace will probably beat us 1 nil in a dour match. but at least we are starting to look like a team again. at times. Consistancy is what is needed now. Over to Mr Koeman. He is the right man ye doubters. of that I am sure!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

16 Jan 2017 09:30:04
Mirallas is back to his best and showing his true potential. I knew he had it in him. I just lost patience with him. For that I was wrong.

Glad you got to the game Degsy. You picked a good one. Koeman influence is growing. Defense has improved 10 fold. In half a season. We have the 4th or 5th least goals against. Even with the Chelsea game.

Next season we will be a force to be reckoned with. The window in the summer (Walsh) and Koeman instilling his style and tactics in the players. I expect us to be challenging right at the top.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 09:44:57
Agreed mate. I could see signs in Mirallas that he was getting back some weeks ago like I said. To be fair, if they had scored one of their early chances, another result might have developed. but we are starting to look like a team again. Not always pretty. but that suits me. I would rather not be pretty (like a Martinez team or Pep team) . I would rather have a winning mentality and grind some results. and batter other teams when the confidence is there. I think we just found a 50 million player in Tom Davies. He was everywhere and involved in everything. Barkley is starting to battle and tackle too. We must all not expect too much just now. It is still a rebuild project but like I said when you convinced me that Moshiri and Koeman were going to turn our club around, Walsh is the key. We can't keep signing 40 million players. we have to unearth gems from anywhere. Irish Leagues, Wirral Sunday Leagues, Afghanistan. anywwhere. Then leave Mr Koeman to make it gel. I can't believe people last week were calling for his head? This is 1000 times better than Martinez pointless possession football. We had 21% yesterday. 4 shots on target and won 4 nil. Lookman's stats are good. played 4 mins.1 goal! He should average about 24 a game if he continues like that. lol

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 09:40:15
Lads don't get carried away with one good result. As for Mirallas too inconsistent for my liking and hasn't really done it over the years so should be sold in summer along with 6 or 7 others to make room for youngsters and new additions to squad to make us a real force next season.

Agree1 Disagree2

16 Jan 2017 10:21:59
You are kidding Mondomac? Sell Mirallas just when he is getting back to his best and popping goals and assists into his game again? Ok let's take your scenario. We sell him for say 15-20 million. Now we have about 120 million available for players. Please provide me with a list of players who want to sign for Everton. Who are available for release from their clubs. Who are within the budget just described and are better than Mirallas. Because I for one don't know any players who fit that crirerea. So once Mirallas is gone and our budget improved, who is goind to provide the goals and assists? Out of the 4 goals yesterday, he provided 2 assists and 1 goal. Against Manchester City. Over to you.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 11:26:38
Have to agree with Degsy on Kev, He was in great form down the right with Coleman whne playing under DM. When RM took over his consistency went down the pan alomg with his form and fitness. Under RK he has gradually got his fitness back and starting to get his form back. I don't think he is fully fit but over the last couple of game he is starting to show his true capabilities. Why sell him its unlikely that we will get a better player for the money we will recuperate and if he continues to play like he did yesterday then why would you want to get rid anyway?

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 11:34:05
Totally with everything you say Degsy. Mondomac no one is getting carried away. If you read my post you would see that I said next season we will be a real force.

Not getting carried away with one result. Albeit against a team that has probably spent 10 times what we have in the last 5 years. Won plenty.

Its more of a combination of the improvement from last season. As I said especially in defense. For reasons outlined above. The overall fantastic direction the club is going in.

If I'm getting carried away by highlighting all the positive things that are happening to our great then to I'm guilty.

I'm listening to plenty of Reds getting jealous with us. That is evidence enough to me that we are heading in the right direction. If I'm getting carried away I apologise.

The trio that came to our club last year Moshiri, Koeman and Walsh imho will bring this club to the next level. When? Who knows? But its in the post.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 11:47:22
What has he done over the years? One good game in ten is not good enough. RK is building a team that's his job. He will not tolerate slackers. Imo Mirallas not good enough due to lack of consistency. As for getting 15-20m for him your having a laugh.

Agree2 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 12:11:23
sa90 you read my mind on Mirallas. Exactly my opinion on him in regard to the previous 2 managers. I would even add Martinez obviously fell out with him. All too regular he was on the bench. Then about 87mins into the game Martinez would put him on. Very frustrating for Mirallas. He even got sent off for a rash challenge after being on by Martinez with only a couple of mins to go.

No doubting his ability and I agree with what you say about him. I thought that the damage was done by our previous manager. I was impatient. I'm glad Degsy and Mirallas proved me wrong. I hope he kicks on from here.

Mondomac, £15m at least yea. £10m is being touted for Fonte and he is 33. I'm aware his position will tolerate older age but Mirallas isn't 30 yet. So at the very least I would expect £15m.

I totally agree with Degsy on where would we get a player that's better? Extremely difficult to do so. His confidence and overall mental state was battered under Martinez. Not using him and when he did only when a game was over. Martinez also had a similar effect on Distin.

They get paid well yes, but for the good of the team they should be kept with a positive attitude.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 12:55:15
Degsy you better bring the young lad to all the home games. A good luck luck charm if you don't and we miss champions league it's your fault:) P. S we should all get carried away we don't get the chance enough. Kev won't be sold Mondo he's definitely in our best squad even with a couple more in. It's pitty we can't play arsenal and city weekly

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jan 2017 13:02:31
I agree on all of the points here even Mondomac. One game doesn't make player. However, all of these player are having to learn a new way of playing and the ones that should go are the ones that don't learn or improve. The ones that should stay are the ones looking to put in the work.

Kev was given a number of tasks by Koeman at the start of the season to lose weight. He did it. Koeman then said to him to lose more weight. He did that too.

That is the type of player that we want. Someone who will earn that respect and I am starting to love Kev again. It's up to him now to grab hold of his chance and make that spot his own.

Now the transfer window can once again have our full attention without games getting in the way . Can Steve Walsh unearth another goalscorer in time for the Palace game on Saturday,

{Ed025's Note - ross was very good gary and had 2 assists, he shown his worth to the team today and has set a benchmark for himself which he has to show on a more regular basis mate..

Don't know about you guys, but to me it seemed the further up the pitch Ross got the better he played. His touches were real quality, but because he made it look easy people hardly noticed. He also looked a lot fitter yesterday, think he is beginning to see that hard work is much better than tippy tappy.

I think the whole team is starting to look fitter. It will be interesting to see who RK plays when Gueye is back from the ACN. Davies certainly through his hat in the ring yesterday. I also thought a back 3 with Baines and Coleman giving us the width we need is a much better formation than trying to play a 442 with a winger supporting the fullbacks. It gave both Ross and Kev the freedom to counter more efficiently which they thrived from yet we had defensive cover when required.
