Gareth Barry. Please no

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Barry a good player, would love him
MJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Gareth Barry's never been a good player. I'm really hoping this one's not true, Man City trying to palm off there cr***pest player aswell. Big no thank you, I wouldn't take him if he was 23 let alone 30+!

Just to tie a couple of rumours up here, the so-called 'big announcement' that had some on here wondering whether Baines had signed a new contract, or even that Rooney was set for a return to England, well it was about Goodison featuring in the FIFA 2014 video game. What a let down and what fail from a PR team that has gone from bad to worse.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Since when did rooney leave england he kept that quite

I will be disappointed with a draw tomorrow. We need to start well and beat teams like Norwich. We don't want to be going into the west Bromwich albion game with no points.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unless i'm missing something doesn't a draw equal a point? A draw would be a decant result tomorrow reagardless of your overly high expectations. {Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest although I would love the 3 pts tomorrow first game of season is of the unknown so as long as we don't get beat I will be happy it's first game and away put it this way if we don't win we're sure to get all the doom and gloom for rest of season and if we get beat well at least one post will be out for Martinez I'm going so all the fans that are going let's be the 12th man and start on a positive

Agree0 Disagree0

Listen its norwich we should be beating them home or away {Ed025's Note - thats a bit naive of you mate..

I'm not sure how I feel for the new season, I was hoping we would have improved our team from last season, But all we have done is replace the players who have left. Obviously Kone and Dell boy could be exciting but imo we need two more first teamers. Possibly RM is going to put his faith in the kids. Barkley, Stones, and Lundstram could become favourites with the crowd and I do believe we will surprise everyone who think we will finish down the league. KK.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Going forward we will be ok but bit worried about defence . Jags and Distin aren't really suited to RM 's style of play, passing out from the back etc . Also to do this need someone dropping deep to collect passes etc, only have Gibson for that!

Agree0 Disagree0

Well we can't have it all ways can we? And I am as guilty as many over this, we would all like to see signing of course, yet we rant about giving the kids a chance, I think really we have to trust in Robbie's judgement, bigger the squad the less opportunities for the kids to be given a go, so let's just go for it and see what happens.

As you rightly say we will surprise a lot of people.

FIFA 14 has Goodison Park. Can't frickin wait.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Personally i'm looking forward to the season starting, not fifa

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said mate, I have FIFA the football game but that's all it is. A Game. People look far too much into it and end up believing it's real. Sad, It's nothing like the real thing! Roll on 15.00pm

It's bit of fun out stadium will be on fifa 14 but people who are moaning thinking it was bigger news you are fools don't you think something would of been said on tv and certainly don't get angry at it you need to wake up the club will tell you of any new signings or sky will say if any bids are made stop second guessing and enjoy the fact football is back in less than 24 hours and I am happy about that the prem is overall the best in the world my father in law is lithuanian and he watches all the time he says only watches Spanish games if the big teams play but with the prem it's exciting watching the smaller clubs play as there are always shock results that's what makes it the best his words not mine perfect start would be 3-0 to us tomorrow but I am going for a 2-1 win with Jelavic and mirallas on scoresheet

Believable0 Unbelievable0

16 Aug 2013 16:27:57
If this exciting news is Fifa 14 I'm taking Bill out with a whale harpoon first chance I get. Hopefully we have signed Cardoza or someone of that stature up front. COYB. Cheers Ed. Stanno

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cardozo*

And he's unbelievably slow and about 32, would much rather have Jelavic

Agree0 Disagree0

He's 30. But I agree he is too slow. Would have loved to have seen him a few years ago when his technical abilities would more than compensate, but those days are passing.

The FIFA thing is good but more of a marketing ploy don't forget kids round the world play FIFA and have heroes an can make themselves in the game an play along side them and for goodison to Ben known worldwide as part of the 'Everton brand' is that a bad thing we can then try and exploit markets like china, Japan and India where there are a lot of growing economies and people being interested more and more in the prem. Ano it sounds like am sort of everton BS broadcaster but its simple really it will help the club in the long run if we use it too are advantage look at New York today everton have been plastered all over the subway trains and stations and all over taxi's to promote the new season but we could also use it as an advantage an say invite big business over and stuff try and sell this club to the world but that's just my opinion what bout other posters and the ed's what's your opinion

Paddock blue

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said its all about raising profile hopefully the crowd our as loud on the game as they are on match day that would be awsome shame they can't get zcars playing as the players come out

Evidently David Moyes has said he does not have a monkee on his back for never winning at one of the so called Sky 4. He fully expects to break his duck this season.

By the way I for one am looking forward to this season more than I have for quite a number, maybe the School of Science is about to re-open. COYB, NSNO

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Give it a rest about moyes, that ship has sailed

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh come off poster 2, we're all dying for slippery Moyes to fail at United - it's all part of the fun!

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2013 20:57:56
from irish blue can't login for some reason
moyes has been more consistent over his term at our club in league places than the rest
fair enough he did'nt
win any trophys but season after season we competed at the top and won plaudits from all sides
it was inevitable he would end up at utd.
maybe if more funds and serious investment were made
during his tenure he would still be here, maybe with some silverware
i only hope that martinez won't end up on deadline day
with felli and baines gone and no replacements
seems like status quo

Agree0 Disagree0

Martinez is the present, moyes in the past, end of

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney is the past does that mean we can airbrush him out of our history? Comparing and contrasting managers is healthy debate and relevant as moyes was here 11 years and a big part of our club and history, he can't be forgotten just like flipping off a light switch.

We're on FIFA! That's the news! What a load of rubbish! Here I was thinking that we are coming towards the last few weeks of the transfer window and everton tweet that there's some exciting news at goodison, I'm thinking mmmm may e a signing maybe transfer news but no a bloody computer game! Not impressed!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well if you saw the picture they tweeted you would of known that it wasn't going to be a new signing

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2013 14:53:22
Ed, I normally respect your posts but I think its a bit much to be having a go at people for being excited that goodison is on fifa. Unless u no their life story, u don't no enough about them to be branding it as sad and posting comments like what happened to a kick about in the park. I'm 23 And have friends who are very active and some that play competitive football but still like the odd game of fifa. To me it doesn't really make any difference but it's good that the stadium is being recognised. {Ed025's Note - maybe im a dinosaur mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Come on mate, maybe to you it is all exciting news but to a lot of us it is one hell of a let down. The fact that the club built it up for us all to expect something special is the sad part not those of you who enjoy a game.

For those of us from the dinosaur era, life at 22 was a bit different, home from work, throw your dinner down your neck (if lucky) Off to training. Saturday go watch the blues, Sunday get up at a stupid hour with a hangover, go have the crap kicked out of you in a pub league, Monday limp into work and start the whole process again. The club stating they were set to announce exciting news equated to us signing Peter Reid or some other future hero, not some virtual reality game.

Agree0 Disagree0

As I said, to me it doesn't really make much difference. But just because someone likes to play a computer game doesn't make them sad and they don't deserve to be judged because of it. I bet plenty of posters play golf or go fishing personally doesn't interest me but I wouldn't think someone is sad because they like it. I understand people having a go at the club because they don't find this newsinteresting but I don't agree with having a go at other blues because they do.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said, personally I like to cross dress and go dogging at weekends but that's my thing and doesn't make me sad.

I must say I agree with earlier post regarding Ross Barkley.against Betis he was ok in the first half but hangs on to the ball too long. but went missing completely in 2nd half. He cannot do that against top class midfielders in the Premier League, he needs to perform for 90mins every game. No good saying he is only young, as he has had a couple of seasons now where he has been given chances and he hasn't "lit the place up has he". We need a top class creative midfielder & another striker who will return a minimum of 15/20 goals a season. Jelavic? Wait & see this season. Can't understand why we haven't gone in completely with a £15/20 mil double offer for Toby & Ericksen from Ajax, we ALWAYS seem to wait until someone else actually goes in and brings them home on the plane with them. our great Club is a bit of a joke in the Transfer Market. The side we have from last season is NOT good enough to challenge this season when you consider what Spurs, Liverpool & even Cardiff, Swansea & West Brom have done through the summer to strengthen! These were the teams who were around us last season. Lack of honesty once again from the Board about just what our finances are. no fulfilled promises as yet from BK. Come on Blues show some intent. speculate to accumulate & improve.

AD {Ed025's Note - its just that some of you whipper snappers think its a sport!!!...get out the house, and play for a proper team in a proper league...instead of sitting at a desk, with a big mac in your hand...no wonder obesity is at an all time high!!.......rant over..

Am I alone in thinking Scott Parker would have been worth a 2m bid?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Completely alone - too old

Agree0 Disagree0

We wouldn't of got him for 2m, pretty sure a few clubs were after him for about 4-5m

Agree0 Disagree0

Just read that Moses is going on loan to WBA, what going on must be worth a shout.

Agree0 Disagree0

2m. is reasonable. Scott can send us up to top five. But I feel he is another Londoner.

Cant help thinking we missed a trick in going for darren bent on season long loan. He will playing for a contract as he is clearly wanting to leave villa. Gets goals and would have been good back up even a regular if he hit form. Just my opinion. {Ed025's Note - we have better who will be sitting on our bench IMO..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Have to agree with Ed on this one, we have as good if not better already so I don't see him improving the squad. He may play for a contract and do well on loan, but is he really the future for us? I personally don't think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have missed a trick on nothing as i'm quite sure that Bent was after a return to London.

I can't quite gauge how we'll perform in our first truly competitive match under RM's management away to Norwich City on Saturday and I'm not sure about predicting the result. I'll be very pleasantly surprised if we keep a clean sheet though. Whatever the result or performance - good, bad, or indifferent - there'll no doubt be a torrent of knee-jerk reactions afterwards. I say, "one match at a time and let's evaluate at the end of the season". Once a blue, always a blue!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed Sid, Robbie needs and deserves a season at least. Although I think we may be in for a nice surprise as I suspect he and the lads will hit the ground running.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2013 11:19:31
Come on then lads and lasses. Predictions for this season? I predict a top ten finish. Ross Barckley to have a break out year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Top five from me. We will convert all equal to win from last season by powerful attacking.

Agree0 Disagree0

Top 8 finish
Baines and Mirallas prem team of yr
Jelavic 15 goals at least
Stuff Manchester United home and away
Barkley to shine this season.
That should do for now :)

Agree0 Disagree0

This is very much a big season for many players who are looking to stay with everton not only Barclay, jelavic osman Guaye vellios peanuts hibbert Howard victor Duffy all of these players need to be at the top of there game when called upon as we will not be able to carry passengers this season team spirit and togetherness will be vital
Again so coyb here we go again let's hope we see some silverware this year

Agree0 Disagree0

Top 8 finish with a good run in one or both of the cups. But if we start the season well then Europe is well within our grasp.

Agree0 Disagree0

If our defence can play like last season and not leak goals then I think we have the capabilities to ruin sides, but with the change of management and coaching I think we have to be prepared for a transitional season although I hope the building blocks and work ethic remain.
Ross Barclay has got to want it more than ever to have the break through season we've been longing for and I hope he catches the eye and wins some games for us.
Money or not we have not lost anyone of real note to harm our side from last season and with Hibbo back promising 20 goals we'll be fine. Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Ross Barkley won't make it unfortunately, needs to much time on the ball. Will be shipped out to brentford next summer for a nominal fee along with Bidwell and Forshaw.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with bottom poster about barkley. don't think he'll cut it. Dawdles and wants 12 touches of the ball.

Moyes is has already made a bad first impression on the Man U fans by failing to land The Cescquatch, Modric or Bale. He is desperate to make a marquee signing, and from all the forums and comments on articles I've read, they don't see Fellaini as that. They view it is as the cop out option. About 80% of them perceived his £23m clause was too much. Plus, moyes has declared Rooney is not for sale. If he swaps a player they all value at about £35m, for a player they don't rate at all, after declaring he wouldn't be selling Rooney, there would be huge fan backlash, something I'm certain Fergie is aware of. This deal does not work on so many levels that its impossible.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It gets better. A 15yr old kid at Barnsley has turned down a move to man utd.probably realised he will get loaned out til he 21-22 then be sold for 50 grand to a league 1 or 2 team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Other clubs state outright
"he is not for sale end of"
BK never says anything
RM spouts stuff about final offers
Why don't they say
No player is for sale this season or indeed this window.
Have some balls and tell everyone we are not selling
Liverpools owners were very good over the RATBOY
why can't ours be the same.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why should they have to say anything if they haven't received any bids for anyone?

Agree0 Disagree0

Because its false every player is for sell at right price even messi so why come out and say not for sale spurs have done Liverpool and Manchester United at least one will go its said to drive price up put it this way if someone come in with 40m for baines would you refuse it cause your daft if you wouldn't

can't wait for the new season to start. I think at times this season we are going to be quite unpredictable. by this I mean I think some games we'll turn up, play beautiful football and wipe teams off the park. but then other times we'll struggle to click, get closed down quickly and struggle. personally I feel it will take a season or two, a transfer window or two, for the players to adapt to a new style and also for bobby to sign and get rid of players to suit how he wants to play. I am fed up of coming on here and seeing negative posts, although everyone is entitled to opinions. we still have the same players that performed well most weeks last season (other than a blip either side of xmas maybe where we drew too many games). ok so we only have 1extra player in the squad than last year but mucha and hitzlesberger were hardly involved, neville was slated when he played and played very little after xmas. and now we will see more of barkley and stones hopefully so that's like two new players. I for one can't wait for the season to start and although I am positive I am realistic and predict another 6th/7th finish but with many more goals scored and who knows another trip to wembley! coyb!

Not a rumour but just a feeling

In
Chantome/McCarthy
Alderwield

Out
Heitinga

Then right b4 window shuts Felliani to Manchester United for 25 mill and Rooney to come in on loan for season with utd and Nike paying wages utd will do this because they get the big man for cheap ant thoughts? {Ed025's Note - yeah mate...wake up, and smell the coffee.. :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah man and give up with the McCarthy rumours. This one will only happen if one of our best players is sold and even then if purchased for that sort of money would be a massive gamble. Let's use the rest of the window to desperately keep hold of the class we have already got rather than try and replace it with a player that's not worth 13-15mill . also Fellaini was a better player when he signed for us than McCarthy is now and anyone that says he wasn'ts talking rubbish!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry lad but Fellaini at 19, or McCarthy at 22. Fellaini was raw potential, McCarthy is a more rounded, disciplined player than Fellaini was then and is now by quite some distance. McCarthy is better than Fellaini at this moment, very different qualities but McCarthy has more to his game.

Agree0 Disagree0

What's this delusion with Nike paying his wages? Utter drivel! Just doesn't happen in the real world I'm afraid.
