Our strongest team still looks top quality
Howard, baines, distan or heitinga, jags, coleman looks pretty good to me fellaini, arteta and rodwell midfield 3 felli in holding role, class midfield barkley, billy and saha attacking 3? {Ed025's Note - no osman....or becks ??

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Our team is quality. But unfortunately the quality isn't spread around efficiently.
We've got too many central midfielders and absolutely no wingers. We don't have many strikers and we only have one left back. We're not going to improve on 7th without additions or a radical overhaul in our playing style. And the latter is not going to happen under Moyes. {Ed025's Note - so what are you tring to say??

Agree0 Disagree0

If Saha stays fit, we're 2 decent wingers away from seriously challenging top 4. If Pienaar were still here, the greedy ted, we'd only need one. {Ed025's Note - thats the sad thing...with a little bit of dosh..we could challenge..

Agree0 Disagree0

We will definitely struggle without at least a winger and a striker {Ed025's Note - i have been telling you all for months..

Agree0 Disagree0

We need to be optimistic for this season , after all we have kept hold of our best players, we have a fantastic manager and we have some great young players coming through. COYB {Ed025's Note - nice thinking mate..ignore my negativity at times...i just get a bit frustrated..

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't understand how people can't include the likes of Osman, Neville and Beckford(I know) in our "best team"... {Ed025's Note - its all about opinions mate...i think you know mine..

Agree0 Disagree0

Poster is freaky, why would you miss out ozzy and neville... and becks?

Agree0 Disagree0

Assumed team this weekend
Howard
Hibbert. Jags. Distin. Baines
Neville. Fellaini
Osman. Arteta. Rodwell
Cahill
Saha

Agree0 Disagree0

Got no strength in depth another poor start and we will struggle big time.Even teams like Stoke,Sunderland and Wolves have better first team squad, moyes has lost faith in kenwrong, mark my words

Agree0 Disagree0

We have kept hold of our best players and we have great youngsters coming through. We proved last season we could beat some of the best teams and i am confident about this season

Agree0 Disagree0

2-0 to the blues on saturday

The performance last night from reports was decent despite the result not being there. Definetly was good for Mikky, Fellaini and Osman getting decent monutes to boost their fitness before the season. Also, another top performance from Barkley, would have to say he has been our best player this preseason and surely that warrants a starting place against QPR despite being 17.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I really do hope barkley gets his chance against QPR. He looks calm and composed, as though he has been playing in the team for years and i am sure he is good enough to make an impact in the first team {Ed025's Note - lets hope so mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Barkley or rodwell
Who is the better player now and out of the 2 who has greater potential, is food for thought {Ed025's Note - barkley...he is progressing!

Agree0 Disagree0

Barkley wins hands down on both counts. {Ed025's Note - for me as well..

Agree0 Disagree0

I always think Jack looks like he's trying to find his true position, which I still believe, long term, will be at centre back. Ross, however, looks completely at home throughout midfield. He is an exciting prospect. But I wouldn't give up on Jack, even though his progress appears to have slowed. {Ed025's Note - i have not given up on him....but i think he needs a good kick up the arse..

Agree0 Disagree0

Barkley is the better prospect and quite frankly already the better player {Ed025's Note - i think so too,.

Agree0 Disagree0

None of the top teams will buy rodwell. He is not good enough for a starting place at Goodison never mind a top 4 team. He's a lot of money for potential so they won't take the chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

rodwell/sturridge swap deal?
Just a thought would love this to happen sturridge looks quality and wil get better and better, maybe attractive to chelsea with the quality of attacking players they already have plus they have an aging midfield and can't see modric leaving spurs

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Not a bad shout. he looked good at bolton last year but i think villa-boas likes the look of him

Agree0 Disagree0

Most evertonians would welcome this, we have a lot of midfielders and we are short of a striker. Sturridge looks a top player, i just think chelsea might not go for the deal {Ed025's Note - me neither..

Agree0 Disagree0

I think rodwell will stay and hopefully this will be the season when he gets a good run of games and shows us what he is capable of

Agree0 Disagree0

Barkley and rodwell could well be a fantastic midfield partnership for us in the future.

Yakubu total goals in past 3 seasons with Everton : 12
Saha total goals in past 3 seasons with Everton : 33
Beckford in one season with Everton : 10
Vic total goals in past 3 seasons with Everton : 2

From these stats, I don't understand WHY we've not even attempted signing a new striker(even on loan) or why we don't play Becks and Saha together when available? {Ed025's Note - or why we have not got rid of those two timewasters before now!....good shout on the saha beckford duo.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Saha and beckford would be a great partnership if we could keep saha fit. I remember them both being on fire against blackpool at home last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Beckford has a habit of scoring amazing goals, he is still learning in the premiership and i think he will become a top class player, he reminds me of a younger faster defoe

Agree0 Disagree0

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember seeing a stat which showed we played 4 games with the Saha and Beckford partnership and we won all those games From these stats I have clearly shown why Yakubu isn't Everton standard, enough of the "Feed the Yak"stuff, all he wants fed is a donut

GP {Ed025's Note - im with you there mate...get rid!..

why the deafening silence from moyes?
Is it because hes embarrased about no new faces? is it because hes thoroughly pissed off with funding situation?
does he feel like hes come to the end of his relationship with the board and doesnt want to start a backbiting situation with them? {Ed025's Note - what has he got to say?..we are not buying anyone, and the futures bleak?..he is keeping a low profile out of loyalty..

Believable2 Unbelievable0

For people to give interviews - they need to be asked for them so as noone is remotely interested in whats going on at everton at the moment - no-one contacts Goodison for an interview so none appear on television.
We didnt play on Saturday so there were no interviews before / after any game either.

no conspiracy just nobodys interested about goings on at Goodison Park - despite what some people would have you believe

Agree0 Disagree0

If he was overly concerned with our budget he would have left last season or maybe the year before that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes has a press conference before the game on friday. I am sure the blues will do some business in the next couple of weeks {Ed025's Note - oh really!

does he feel like hes come to the end of his relationship with the board and doesnt want to start a backbiting situation with them? {Ed024's Note - what can he say that wont be picked up by some shady reporter and twisted out of shape?, he probably feels all of what you wrote, I for one hope he stays quiet and continues to be the one man at the club with some integrity and respect for us the fans...IMWT COYB

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Possibly because his press conference isn't before Friday?

Agree0 Disagree0

Will let our beautiful football do all the talking

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he has never done interviews after preseason he always lets the assistant do it - only after the season starts does he bother with post match interviews

Agree0 Disagree0

Sponsored silence to build up his transfer war chest {Ed024's Note - quality

Agree0 Disagree0

He doesn't tend to speak to the press unless absolutely necessary. Would you rather he was all over ever media source enthusing about everyone else's players like 'Appy Harry Redknapp? I certainly wouldn't. Moyes conducts business with a little more decorum.

people keep going on about a striker, but its wide players and pace is what we need

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Considering our top goalscorer was Cahill who is an attacking midfielder who missed 2 months of the season, I think a striker is our main priority...

Agree0 Disagree0

1 decent wide player and a striker to help beckford and saha and we can clinch a top 6 place, vicente for free and maybe sturridge on loan would do me {Ed025's Note - in our dreams mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

It is clear we need a striker and a wide player. Vicente on a free and maybe sturridge on loan and we can make top 6

Joseph Yobo and Yakubu were included in Everton's reserve squad to face West Brom today in the first league fixture of the season. Hopefully they both had stormers and there were plenty of scouts there

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Hope this means Barkley's getting a start on saturday {Ed025's Note - i think he will be on the bench..

Agree0 Disagree0

They will be playing u18's next.
With their new birth certs on the ready {Ed024's Note - both signing for the red sh*te, 25m each!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I really, really wish we'd just keep the Yak.If we could sell Yobo and bring in a quality creative player, I'd be happy enough with a strikeforce of Yakubu, Saha, Beckford and Vellios.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's got a bit messy with these two now. Hope we find new clubs for them soon, I like them both but Moyes has obviously moved on and needs funds.
Could be worse like, the RS have got about a dozen players in the same boat (Cole, Poulsen, N'Gog, El Zhar, Aquilani, Insua, Degen, etc). {Ed025's Note - just vic now...and we are rid of the three stooges..

Agree0 Disagree0

The Yak proved time and time again when Moyes played him why he shouldn't, he's lazy and looks like he can't be arsed anymore.

Agree0 Disagree0

Barkleys a young boy dont got carried away,he looked a bit short against Villareal,if we dont Tw*t QPR , we will be laught at again.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 18:30:16
Cant see Moyes letting Beckford go after a good 1st season. I think given more games and maybe another pacey striker "not vic" we will see the best of him I think a little & large combo would be great at everton.
I dnt understand why we didnt put a bid in for DJ Campbell he went for £1.25M Didnt we get at least that for Vaughan? He's not the best but he is fast and scored 12 last season for a poor blackpool team
As for takeover talks, get real It would be all over the papers if we had any1 lined up {Ed025's Note - we did not bid for dj..because we have not got a pot to p*ss in!...we lost out to leeds for loneghan, and he cost £150,000!!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

It's difficult trying to fairly value Beckford. Long went to West Brom for an initial £4.5m by comparison. He's 3 years younger than Becks and a full international....oddly I've just read that Beckford is planning on representing Jamaica. Anyway, I digress, I think £4.5m-£6m is probably a fair value for him too. Three mill would be closer to Anichebe's worth.
Would I sell Beckford? Hmm, on balance, not unless they were offering really good money. We'd find it really tough to get a decent replacement in at this late stage. We don't have many options upfront as it is, so we'd need a really compelling reason to let a forward go.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would not sell Beckford for any money, hes the only one with pace and the only one that looks like he can score most games,i know he misses chances before some one will say it but he's there to miss them unlike the other forwards

Agree0 Disagree0

They have some cheek offering us a paltry £3m for beckford. What do they really think we are that desperate? Have our board sent out fax's and emails saying he is available? I can't see Beckford leaving us for them unless Moyes has said he doesn't want him which i doubt.

The thing is with Leciester it seems Sven is just throwing bids out every which way in the hope of having them accepted and that no one else bigger throws an offere in just like with their bid for Long. He's like a 12 year old playing FM whos used the editor to give some sh*t no mark club lots of cash and then tries to bid for everyone. They could not afford Yaks wages who was for sale (or maybe yak wasn't keen) it seems to me Sven thinks anyone will play for his revolution

Agree0 Disagree0

We won't sell him to them. We are poor but Moyes is still in control and won't sell his first team players otherwise we would have sold Rodwell and Jags the two most sought after players according to the media. Plus no player in a prem first team will drop down to the championship

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 17:30:15
Why would Beckford step down to the championship when he looks fully capable of scoring in the premier league?
he scored 10 even though he wasn't a regular, I think he'll score more this season, definitely wouldn't sell him, he is the one proper goalscorer who could possibly get better that we have. {Ed025's Note - with a good run in the side...i can see him getting 15 at least!..

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I wouldn't part with Beckford, especially at 3.5 million.

As of right now, he's our best striker. If he's played and started more regularly next season, he will definitely be at least a 15 goal striker for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes doesn't like him. Can't play in a 4-5-1. He'll go IF the right offer comes in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes doesnt like him? Behave Moyes knew the type.of player he was when he got him otherwise he wouldnt of bothered

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 17:25:52
Happy for Yak to go to Forest but don't wanna lose Beckford surely.. leaving us with Anichebe. {Ed025's Note - we should sell them as a package...buy one lazy sod...get one free!..

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Beckford has got to stay, he is a premiership player who can get 15 goals for us next season {Ed025's Note - i think he will..

Agree0 Disagree0

Yak - if anyone will buy him, Moyes will sell.
Beckford - no way in hell Moyes sells him now unless it's for a pile of cash. He's got a nose for the goal and a striker's touch.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 16:07:03
looks like leicester could loose out on another striker as they are chasing beckford which wont happen and forest chasing the yak which will happen as i have heard a deal is very close. leicester do want yakubu but have to chose to go for beckford first.

what do us everton fans think?

personally if yakubu went to forest would be a brilliant move all round providing we get there superstar lewis mcgugan. just seen some of hi goals on youtube - ridiculous,

beckford aint going anywhere

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Beckford is worth at least £5m on last seasons performances. Who are we going to get with the money that is more or equal to his talent?
No one. {Ed025's Note - no one..

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't want to be selling beckford, he is our main striker, we are short of strikers as it is, so sven you can f**k off with your bid. {Ed025's Note - it would be foolish to sell him...even if we get a top striker..he would be great back up..

Agree0 Disagree0

They've been turned down by Keane and Long already. Does he realise what league they are in? I never thought he'd get Yak in truth, but he wasn't getting a game and was massively fat. I just don't get this bid at all. Amazed if accepted, I'd be amazed even if it was really true {Ed025's Note - me too..but nothing surprises me these days..

Agree0 Disagree0

Sell Beckford? £3m doesn't get us anything in doday's market ffs. When combined with a similar amount for the Yak it could get us a half decent winger to be fair but we'd then have to replace Beckford with no money. It's half a step forward and a large step back. This guy's improving. He came on leaps and bounds from that appalling display against West Brom and his goal to minutes on the pitch ratio is good. No less than five million sven or jog on you silly swede. {Ed025's Note - but what would £5million get us?..

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Aug 2011 14:48:51
Yak and Yobo in with the reserves today maybe a sign

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I am sure moyes is keen to offload them both, as he does not see them as part of his plans and it would release funds to bring in better players {Ed025's Note - sooner the better..

Agree0 Disagree0

A sign that they're only reserve quality? {Ed025's Note - how true..

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know whether I'm having a "Mystic Tez" moment or if it's my Everton optimism kicking in, but I've got a feeling something is going to happen on the transfer front very soon. And it's not just us - every season there can be 1 or 2 big transfers that start a snowball effect on the Premiership. Fabregas has gone leaving Wenger with pots of cash. As it seems that Jags doesn't want to leave, (fingers & everything else crossed), maybe G Cahill or Samba will be on their way to the Arse. 'Appy 'Arry Redknapp's been told to buy a striker, possibly freeing up Defoe or Crouch. There seems to be a bit of interest in Yak, Anichebe & Becks, which might give us a few quid to play with. Then there's the last minute loan deals from the rich clubs, which Moysie is a master in. So, as so many of us have been praying for, we might just get in a striker or 2 & a true wide player. If that happens before Saturday, they'll hear that 2.50pm cheer in Manchester as "Z cars" plays out. COYB.

Daily Mirror and Daily Express are saying:
Sven-Goran Eriksson has launched a £3million bid to sign Jermaine Beckford.

The Sun is saying:
Steve McClaren wants to boost Nottingham Forest's firepower with Yakubu or Jermaine Beckford.

The Daily Mail is saying:
Steve McClaren is monitoring Everton's Yakubu and Jermaine Beckford as he tries to find a solution to Nottingham Forest's striker shortage.

Just thought i'd let all of you know if you don't read these newspapers or you haven't looked at the Sky Sports Paper Talk.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Beckford won't be sold, he will stay and score even more goals than last season. Yakubu and anichebe will be out of the door before beckford

All i have heard is that he spoke with The Peoples Group and E4C over the weekend i think in london. I wish people would stop posting about takeovers unless they have a legitimate source

I think there is something going on at everton, has no one noticed that moyes has hardly spoke during the summer ? I think he spoke once after first friendly and spoke again to tell us what a great player anichebe was
When the season ended, he said he hoped to sit down with the board to see what what was available to him and that he was wishing for a fresh challenge
Since then the board have done nothing for us and once again we have stood still while weaker and smaller teams have improved there squads.
I get the feeling moyes is not happy and i can see him walking before the year is out. I would be really sad, but you know what ? I wouldn't blame him, the board would have to run for cover if this happened aswell, because in my opinion the board get it easy off us loyal fans but the main reason is because we have too much respect for moyes to turn on them, simple fact is if he walked the board would get hammered from the fans, because they have held him back for the last 4-5 years, ever since we qualified for the champions league they have done nothing to help him

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Moyes has made it clear a few times that he is happy at the blues and stated that he would stay as long as we wanted him. He could have gone to villa but he wasn't interested and i think moyes will at least see out the last two years of his contract at everton

just been on the everton store.

You can choose Yobo and Yakubu for your shirt printing, but they are located at the bottom of the list and not in number order like the rest of the squad {Ed025's Note - bottom of the list....sounds right..

It's been like that for around a month mate.

As far as I am concerned at 56 years of age, when someone like Arsene Wenger states that He is worried that Arsenal will become a Feeder/Selling Club then the game of Football as I have always known it....is finished & out of the reach of most people who have followed their teams for many years. We are making millionaires out of mediocre young footballers from this country & abroad.Even a below average player now earns at some clubs £70/80,000 PER WEEK Some as we know earn double that & more in bonuses etc. Clubs are going to the wall because they have been committed to paying these wages over 4/5 year contracts. These footballers are not just comfortable anymore, they are all MILLIONAIRES within 1 year. Are Man City fans really happy at what they see,or Chelsea Fans & now Liverpools owners are doing the same. Footballers now want to only play half the games in a season and earn triple the money. They ALL want to play for "a Top 4 team" The money being spent at City is insulting and could Mancini actually "build & develop a team if he didn't have the financial clout. The Billionaires who have come into our game have ruined it for good. Most of us can't afford to go to a game any more. I have followed Everton all over from the age of 6,but aged 29 in 1984 I suffered a massive Heart Attack and have only been to a couple of pre season friendlies since, because my Benefits don't allow the luxury of a Match. it will end up here like it is in Scotland, the Top 4 Clubs will play each other about 4/6 times and the fans will get bored rigid. Drastically cut the wages of ALL players down to a logical yearly salary of £100,000...YEARLY not WEEKLY....and then the game as we know can get back to normal and less Clubs will be in so much difficulty, and a lot more Dads might just be able to take their sons to a Match. {Ed025's Note - i enjoyed that mate..i am of similar age...moaning old farts..lol..i myself believe that wages should be performance related, all players on £20,000 PER WEEK. with a bonus of say £5,000 per point....and all agents to be shot at dawn!...
