i agree with you on that one ed.its always the same no matter what, it really grates with me .from television coverage, the red echo, to the city council. they bend over backwards to please our over media friendly neighbours.you only have to watch the bbc or sky even espn and see just how many ex red players are being payed to give there views on games and players.perhaps its our own fault for being overlooked by not being so media friendly.then again do we really want to embarass ourselves by opening up our doors to a film crew to make by all accounts a cringeworthy documentary.hopefully this season could be the season our team can do all our talking.then maybe just maybe mind the red media might just sit up and take notice for a change.jimmy {Ed025's Note - im with you all the way on that one jimbo..

Hi all, Was just wondering if the RS redevelop Anfield, are they going to need to play there home games else where or are they going to do what Arsenal did and have a picture in front of each area they are redeveloping. Arsenal did that for just 1 stand, don't think it could be done that way for a entire ground redeveloping. So just wondering where they are planning to play there home games. Goodison would be the prime target but I hope not. Ed and fellow Blues what are your thoughts on this.

Dero ( Irish Blue ). {Ed025's Note - a lot of their supporters, when asked about a ground share, dismissed it out of hand dero, so to those, i will say but 3 words...swivel on it!,,

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Norway it wouldn't be far for their fans to travel to home games ... Bluepeter

The subject of a ground-share was raised during the recent Hillsborough memorial because of the unstinting and heartfelt solidarity shown by Everton Football Club and Evertonians towards our neighbours across the park re JFT96. The thought was "could a ground-share actually work?"
Notwithstanding that spirit of conciliation, Liverpool's plan to redevelop Anfield has put an end to any ground-share prospects. Besides, the rivalry between the clubs (specifically the fans) is too intense IMHO for it to have really worked anyway. So, why can't we redevelop Goodison?
One thought: check our attendances - we rarely get a 40K sell-out these days...and our yearly average has been around 36K for most of the past ten years. Even if that's because the away clubs don't use their allocation, how many fans do you really think we would regularly get (not just for the derby or similar "big" matches) in a modern stadium? Where are those 15K-to-20K extra/missing fans that would help fill a 50K-plus capacity modern stadium? Someone please cheer me up and convince me they're really out there now clamouring for tickets.
Anyhow, it's not about the size of the crowd - it's about the amount of income we get from those that do attend, especially at the corporate level. An extra 10K season ticket holders would be good, but a goodly number of executive/corporate boxes would probably be even more lucrative - as would extended restaurants, bars and lounges in a modern stadium. It's a different world compared to when I was standing on the terraces as a youngster :-)

Could someone please explain why, when we asked about redeveloping goodison, we were told that we could not expand the present "footprint". Yet our friends across the park were first givern consent to build in a public park, and now that they cannot afford it, they are not only givern consent to redevelop the ground, but it will be facilitatrd by conpulsary purchase ! THIS STINKS {Ed025's Note - its always been the same!...we are the poor relations in this city, whether it be the city council, or the red echo, we always seem to get the short straw..

Believable11 Unbelievable0

Liverpool City Council is there for Liverpool FC and no one else! They are not interested in us at all. They would rather let the district of Walton die, than help us. Remember it was not that long ago that we almost moved out of the city, because they refused to help in anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

Two observations:
(1) Everton were a bigger club than Liverpool until the 1960s. They'd won trophies before then, but it's only since then that they've gone on - it pains me to say this - and won more trophies than us. IMHO we actually blew it after 1970 and then our mid-80s success was stymied by the European ban and Agent Johnson's reign.
(2) I'd like some well informed journalist (if that's not a contradiction!) or anyone else who really knows what's going on to present a well researched piece on Everton's quest for a modern stadium. All I've read is gossip, misinformation, biased opinion, and anti-Kenwright sentiment. Some of the above might have some truth, but let's stop wallowing in self-pity and do what we can that's positive, which is to support the team so that its successful and then the club can attract the investment to get us a modern stadium. That could be a redeveloped Goodison, a new stadium in Stanley Park, a relocation (within reason), or whatever.

Cowpat Sid {Ed025's Note - good post(as always)sid..

I do agree with you that Liverpool do get preferential treatment, but, Everton have never applied to move the foot print of the ground, they just keep saying that it cannot be done. They have no excuse now because of what is happening across the park. Also I think I remember Liverpool city council fighting to keep us in the City. Warren Bradley gave evidence at the Kirby enquiry saying that it would not be in the best interest of Liverpool City Council if Everton moved out.

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon we should get the lawyers in. My pick would be...

Tom Cruise from A Few Good Men
Brad Pitt from Sleepers
And Petrocelli

Them 3 will sort that shower out no problem!!

Toffee ace {Ed025's Note - i would pick...judge judy...she rocks..

Agree0 Disagree0

You missed out Keanu Reeves from the Devil's Advocate and Matthew McConaughey from A Time to Kill

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton have asked in the past about moving the footprint of the ground and even bought the houses behind the park end but the council said it was out of the question because it involved taking around 70 meters of Stanley Park. Seeing how they the GAVE THE WHOLE PARK to the RS, surely this should be back on the table? I'd prefer to just build on the site that the RS have just given up on though, show them how it's done!

Back to the premier league this weekend, Thank god.
I rely cant stand international football.

Hopefully we can get a result against QPR which will keep up the confidence of the whole club going into the derby. What I wouldn't give to beat the rs by a couple of goals. (even tho I would take a 1-0 lucky win.)

Micky blue eyes {Ed025's Note - im with you micky...i hate internationals, i love a footy bet on a saturday, and that scuppers my bets..

Aha yes, that's also very funny, but let's put things into perspective, a good season for you lot is finishing above us. But a season where we won a trophy and got to the FA Cup final was STILL largely considered a terrible
season for LFC :-P

On a serious note though, really looking forward to the derby, Stevie G always turns up for the big games, let's hope the result is determined by the best team winning, and not by dodgy ref decisions, which we have both fallen victim
to this season

Been reading a few comments from everton fans on other sites about Ross Barkley . I have watched all 6 of his loan games as i support wednesday and he his not the game changer and future prospect that you all thought he has been very disappointing to say the least . there must be some clause in his loan deal that means he has to play every game possible. when compared to our brilliant start since Barkley has been in the team there has been a rapid decline in the results it has almost been like we have had nobody in centre midfield i am aware that he his still young but the only conclusion i can come to after watching him play is that he is massively overated

Believable2 Unbelievable4

It's not Barkley mate it is your awful team, he needs mostly good players around him which you have none of

You can polish a turd but it will always be a turd

Thanks for your rubbish feedback though and be sure this lad will come good

Degsy

Agree0 Disagree0

And Ross Barkley is the turd you are talking about , youve obviously never seen him play a full competative 90 minutes

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Oct 2012 14:31:27
Third poster the turd was the team and not Ross, he was the polish

I was saying that we have given them a future star but he cant change a team that is full of mediocre players

Degsy

Agree0 Disagree0

You are talking rubbish although he is 18 in footballing years the kid is still 16 he has missed 2 years of development due to the horrific injury so give the kid chance in 2 years time you will be eating your words as the kid will be a class act I would rather see him spend 6 months or a year with Blackpool as they have a manager who can develop youngsters. Sheffield Wednesday are a poor team you were once a big club but football has moved on and you are in league 1 shame you won't be in the prem to see Barkley shine if you watched euros u19 you would of seem his qualities

Agree0 Disagree0

To the Wednesday fan, it would be prudent of you to make these claims 10 games after he returns to us. That way your point may hold more water, as long as your form indeed improves dramatically in Ross' absence.

A tip for you though.....

Get behind your first 11 like we do, who knows where your team may end up?

COYB
Toffee ace {Ed025's Note - its so easy to blame a young lad for the failings of a team full of no marks...the fact is, wednesday are an absolute shambles

Agree0 Disagree0

But isn't it funny how he was the stand out player for us in pre season games against good teams and he's the stand out player for England u21's? Have you ever thought that just maybe it's the players round him that make him look bad? God, Messi would look gash in Wednesday's side...
Toffeepidge

Agree0 Disagree0

At the moment he's absolute garbage and I'm an Evertonian of 30+ yrs though that is not to say he won't come good...eventually. All he is at the moment is potential, same as Rodders and we all know how he's progressed thus far or lack thereof. I've seen him play on quite a few occasions and he's had 1, maybe 2 good games. Look at Sterling at the RS younger but good enough to play regularly albeit at a lesser club but he's doing the business week in week out, Barkley isn't doing the same in a similar and he's a year older. Granted he's had an horrendous injury but still he ain't good enough, plain and simple. If he comes good I'll gladly eat humble pie and hold my hands up

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally matey a think ya wrong young Ross is a class act and future star u will eat those words lad am tellin ya! A said it last week a still cant see we're all the stick is coming from. R rite he ain't doing to well at Sheff wed but who is! Here we go take this point although it pains me to say it Steven gerrard is class (and am a bitter blue) but at the minute he looks like s*it. Why his team mates. And are Ross has the same problem at sheff wed. As far as I'm concerned as long as he gets game time and comes back fit it will all be worth while for the future! Also the championship is a tough league to bed ya self into and do well. Add on a triple leg break a couple of years ago. (at 16)And my opinion is your being at bit harsh! LIAM!! ...COYB

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think I'm being harsh at all, just realistic and, more importantly, honest. Let's face it if he was good enough he'd be getting in our team like Sterling at the RS. So he's had a particularly bad injury ? Take 2 yrs off then ... Rooney was getting in our team regularly at the same age. Fact is he's vastly over-rated. End of story.

Liverpool will announce today that they will not be building a new stadium afterall. The council should give Everton the opportunity to build on Stanley Park, but they won't!
