For me the 3 best performers for England were Pickford, McGuire and Trippier. Not sure about the order!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

15 Jul 2018 22:22:39
I think Trippier was the surprising performer for me but I’m not sure I agree with him being solid defensively and top England performer. I was very surprised at his age when I heard that too. I thought he was circa 21!

I thought Ashley young was solid all tournament tbf.

Pickford was great and Maguire after the first game was a unit back there and smart with the ball most of the time.

Loftus-Cheek looked lively when coming on as a sub but nothing much happened as I result did it? I can’t really remember now!

15 Jul 2018 14:18:58
Would you say Pickford was Englands best player? I would, personally. Who would you say would be goalkeeper of the tournament (so far or after the final game wih it coming very soon) didn't watch enough to give verdict myself?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Jul 2018 15:26:12
I think Pickfords been the best keeper, watched nearly every game apart from when there was two games at the same time.
It would be hard not to give it to Lloris if he captains France to WC win. Same if the Croatian keeper helps them win it today.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2018 19:12:02
Lloris made a howler, which may cost him it. Subasic conceded 4. Will lloris still get it through winning the world cup or will it be out of Courtous and Pickford?

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2018 21:03:15
Loris will win winning captain the way he played is pretty irrelevant.

Agree1 Disagree2

16 Jul 2018 10:10:08
Sa, i'm not too sure about the criteria they use to determine but did know that the winning goalkeepers have got it the last 3 times so a winning captain would have a profound affect on the choice. But I do think they consider performences as well and don't just give it to the winner willy nilly regardless of everything else.

Just been reading about Marco and his summer transfer plans, he is saying Everton will sign the players he wants and they have to, I like his style us the fans still have no real inclination of who he is really after after, we have been linked with all of them but none of us let alone the papers have a clue, long may it stay that way, leave it to the ones who know, the ones who see them in training every day with all their different attitudes etc, bring it on Marco and Marcel surprise us all.

Plenty of time for new signings, we don't want to rush it like last season, my total trust is with Marco.

Same as that mate and more importantly the players seem to have trust in him as well, good times ahead.

So, 22 players were involved yesterday:
Stek; Coleman, Holgate, Keane, Baines; Davies, Schneiderlin, Dowell; Sandro, Tosun, Lookman; Hewelt; Kenny, Jagielka, Williams A, Robinson: Martina, Connolly, Besic; Vlasic, Niasse, Mirallas.
Another 7 players weren't involved (some carrying injuries? ) : Bolasie, Calvert-Lewin, Klaassen, Walcott, Baningime, McCarthy (unless he's still recovering? ) and Pennington (unless he's with the U23s? ) .
We also have the World Cup players (Pickford, Gana and Gylfi) yet to return.
Several other players (Browning, probably Galloway, etc. ) are with the U23s while some (Williams J. ) stayed back at Finch Farm for treatment due to slight injuries.
Meanwhile, Tarashaj is on trial at Grasshoppers Zurich - and we have already moved on Funes Mori, Rooney, Garbutt (on loan) , Robles and several youngsters (Grant, Dyson, etc. ) .
Anyhow, if we expect to recruit a few (3 or 4?) new players AND bring the total squad down to around 25, that means there are surely at least 10 current players who we might expect to be moved on (or consigned to the U23s) .
Reports are that while Silva is being impressed by some players (especially some younger ones) , he's pretty much already made his mind up about several of the players that will not be part of his first-team squad.
I wonder if there'll be any surprise retentions (players not liked by fans! ) or any completely unexpected additions or some disappointing outgoings (fan favourites? ) .

22-0
Enjoy it
Don't worry about the opposition
It's pre season and we clearly have our shooting boots on
Why pick it to bits?
If we won 3-0 or conceded a couple of goals then people would say " we should've beat them by 20 odd goals! It's a pub team" etc etc.
Enjoy the fact the team did what they were expected to do.
I'm sure the games will get tougher and we will respond accordingly.
Some people will always find fault but maybe it's because they've forgotton how to enjoy watching Everton play football.
Just sit back, stop moaning, stop playing the analyst, stop playing manager, just relax and be a fan again.
22-0. I'm happy.

The main point is that regardless of who we are playing, it instills a winning mentality from the very beginning.

Exactly grumpy.
Well said mate.

15 Jul 2018 13:32:11
I wouldn't read anything into this match at all. 22-0 was funny but really irrelevant. Win, lose or draw, preseason games are about fitness and trying new tactics. I remember a preseason a few years ago where we were winning every game against big clubs and thought we would have a sensational season, but we didn't. It's as though preseason form just doesn't make a single bit of difference.

The only real bit of information I'd take from this match was Sandro. Goals for fun by all positions yet Sandro didn't bag one. I really don't want to sound abusive towards him or jump on any 'player out bandwagon' but when we signed him last summer there was so much hype, what has gone wrong?

My opinion concerning the whole "No signings yet" and that is, wait! Still got 3 weeks left Silva probably still working out to do with the team. Only been together training for a week, what with holidays and the world cup. Remember last season the team was broken.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

15 Jul 2018 14:03:23
I just wonder what the opinion would have been if we’d beaten them 2-0 🤔
We gave them a mauling so what! if we hadn’t I’d be concerned. But as I’m not the director of football nor first team coach at our beloved club I’m going to leave it to them
Big C.

It seems most clubs are trimming their squads by selling or sending players out on loan. We have a fixed amount of clubs but surely an infinite supply of players so far to find another club. The clubs taking on these players are in the driving seat and can dictate the terms of any deals so in effect drive down the costs. This in effect makes it more difficult to move players on as there is less choice of clubs for players to move onto. The only other choice clubs have is to terminate players contracts which itself can be expensive.
I see it as a supply and demand situation, and easier said than done, so patience is needed.

A timely reminder of the talent that Lookman and Mirralis have yesterday. Yes it was a pub team, but if we’re going to do push on, we should keep both IMO. Vlasic could maybe do with a loan move as Dowell has been getting great reports and deserves a spot on the bench. Looking forward to a busy week of incomings and outgoings!

Don't get too excited about yesterdays score line they weren't even good enough to be called a pub team Just watched highlights they were shocking.

15 Jul 2018 10:54:05
Yeah, let’s all just be miserable instead.
No one’s getting excited. The point was that Lookman and Mirralis have quality and should be given the opportunity to prove it.

Agree2 Disagree6

15 Jul 2018 13:57:36
Mirallas could have scored all 22 and i still would sell him. can't rely on him. Goes missing. Loan spell was unsuccessful. He has had enough opportunites. Well time to move on.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Jul 2018 14:14:58
I agree with your assessment of Lookman, Blue, but I think Mirallas has had more chances than he deserves and has not taken any of them. There is a pattern emerging with him, we get a new manager and KM gets his head down for a while and works. O{nce he gets dropped for a spell then his attitude changes and he practically downs tools. He would be one of the first to ship out for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Jul 2018 16:29:34
I wouldn’t be upset if Kev did go, but he does have quality. If we can find a replacement, perhaps it is time for him to move on.

Perspective is a word I would use for concern about our signings or rather, lack of them. Much discussion on here about squad changes. Here are some facts. Arsenal have trimmed their squad by releasing or selling 13 players. They have also signed 5 new players. Bournemouth signed 1 and released 12. Brighton 5 in and 14 out. Burnley 5 out and none in. Cardiff 4 in. Chelsea 13 out and 1 in. Palace 1 in and 4 out. And so the trend continues throughout the list of clubs. We are one of a minority of clubs who have so far only released players and made no signings. There is still until August 9th I believe (can you confirm Ed002?) so that give us 3 weeks. At this stage panic is not needed. Negotiations will continue on some player leaving and some coming in.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

15 Jul 2018 09:10:51
It doesn't matter what is happening at other clubs. It is about what is right for our club. Every club is different. We find ourselves in a unique position. I don't care how many players other clubs sign or let go. Everton need to get players released. No point signing players for the sake of it. Turns out to be very expensive. That's why we are in this situation in the first place.

GuernseyBlue, if I said black was black you woyld say it was white. I was just supplying info about our own position in the market place versus the position of other clubs. Then suggesting that there are nearly 3 weeks left in the transfer window and fans should not panic as some seem to be doing. Sheesh if I say anything I can't win!

Everton can't win with some fans, they didn't travel to Austria for this friendly they are on a preseason training camp and this was a game that really should have been behind closed doors just a run out training game, then if it would have trickled out that we won 22-0 no one would have moaned about the level of opposition.
Everton stream it online for fans and it's oh its a disgrace whoever booked the friendly needs sacking.

you can't moan the club don't keep the fans up-to-date nathan cry when they show us how training is going.

some blues are just never going to be happy, people kicking off we haven't signed 4 players are the same people who will moan soon as we make a signing that the player is a waste of money and they would have found a better player!

sorry to rant guys but people are getting me down, we won a training match that's alls it was, to use a boxing analogy that was the equivalent of tyson fury fighting the other week, he had time off so came back with a nice easy stroll to a victory, now he ups his level of opposition gradually until he fights AJ. that today was our seferi we building to AJ (man city)

I totally get what you are saying johny1989. Yes there does appear to be those who are never happy. but maybe that's because this is a banter site and someone else posts that we are really going places and the 22 nil win is the start of something great! So the natural response to that is what you say. they come back with all the "get real" comments. which sounds like they are being negative. It happens to me all the time. Someone says that its great that we are getting rid of all these players. I respond by saying something like you can't field a team without having players and all of a sudden I am being negative? I guess that's the problem of having banter with lots of people. One says one thing, someone offers a different view, then someone else joins in with an alternative point and before you know it everyone is differing on the point in many ways.

People are people Johnny: easier to find fault than praise.

I’m taking the 22-0 with a pinch of salt but am pleased to see the team linking up well together in attack. The opposition might play in the 5th league in Switzerland (or something) but much better to see 22-0 than 2-0 with 20 missed shots or only 2 chances.

I’ve always been wary of warm-up games as we’ve done well in them in the past and had a shocking start to the prem and vice-versa. Let’s see how we get on over the next few games and if we are getting the basics right.

Big difference in having over 30 players and having none degsy? Are you blind? We badly need to get rid of players. You often said yourself the recruitment was bad over a number of years. So what your saying now is we should keep hold of these deadwood players and waste valuable money on them? Doesn't make much sense degsy. As usual.

Why are we arguing about this. It was a training game. Score was pretty massive. But that shows huge promise. The team are thinking like a team. Linking up nicely and getting the ball in the back of the net. That's what we we've been screaming out for, something we rarely see last season.
