In an effort to sign Baines/Barkley in the Window Utd develop a cunning plan.
Ferguson, Neville and Moyes invite Martinez for a 'friendly drink' in a Manc hotel.
Moyes buys the first round with a pint of 'heavy', Nev follows up with four pints of Carlsberg then Fergie goes for the jugular with a wee dram of 'Jocks sporron's spinning' 30 year old scotch malt.
When it's Robbies time he goes to the bar orders one half of San Miguel which he promptly downs in front of the three Mancs!
'Er, excuse me Bobby but where's ours?' cry the Mancs.
The reply, 'Seniours, with the greatest respect, this is the 4th round, yes?
Well you're not in it. ola!'

Nicolas Burdisso announced he wants to leave Roma to get more starts for a world cup place. He plays same positions as Heitinga, so it looks like a deal with Roma for Johnny might be back on the horizon.

I heard off a mate who worksin belgium that we may struggle to get the belgian lad because of complications with money owed for felli I hope we get him though as he looks a good player.

Not rumour but been thinkin about Tim Cahill posting on here I messaged him on twitter and he said he keeps up to date with us blues and he goes on a few sites like this.
How did u know he came on ere ed? And who does everyone think he logs in as? my money on sydney blue

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - it was a mutual friend dunc, he has changed his username more than once mate..

I would be absolutely astounded if we were still paying off Felliani. I think that would have been put to bed ages ago mate

Agree0 Disagree0

The only thing I can think of re the Fellaini money could be any percentage due to the Belgian club from the fee we got for him from ManUtd, as it was in excess of what we paid for him.

Can't get on the banter page so had to post it here. Jordan Rhodes left out the Blackburn squad for the cup replay. Looks like he may be off somewhere. Would we have him boys and girls?,,,,

Did anyone see Bill's message before Christmas? Sends tears to my eyes. Quote Bill K:
As most of you will know, I like to keep my statements as a Chairman to a minimum, as I am extraordinarily happy to let our inestimable manager represent the Club.
However, on last week's long Saturday night drive back home from Goodison, I felt that I had to say a word or two of thanks.as an Evertonian, not particularly as a Chairman.
Like all of you, I find it difficult at times to adequately sum up my devotion to our Football Club. But a few recent events have reiterated to me just where this love affair comes from.
And that's quite aside from the wonderful football we have been blessed with this season!
On Saturday I was ushered away from the usual Directors' car park, and was subsequently knocked out to see literally dozens of youngsters holding their own "action packed" matchday programmes.
I eventually walked through the Directors' car park to see even more youngsters preparing for their own kickabout before the match!
As I arrived pitch side I was introduced to our young "stand in match-day appointees!" all champing at the bit to make their special mark on another glorious Saturday at Goodison Park. I read the "kids programme" as if I was in the boys pen all of those decades ago. Seamus on the front cover was today's "Roy Race" and the memories of Roy of the Rovers, Dave Hickson, and my Everton youth came flooding back.
Our history, my history; soon to be handed over to the young Evertonians who will take our Club forward.
The previous Saturday, Goodison had opened its doors and its heart to the Missing People Campaign. We have subsequently had several letters since from the organisation itself, and from Kate and Gerry McCann, telling us what we already know. Everton is a special Club. Goodison is a special place. Evertonians are special people.
Finally, (but by no means finally!) just before Christmas, we kept the Goodison lights on after a game, and opened our doors to some of the community who are less privileged than others, and enjoyed, once again, an Everton People's Picnic, where we ate, laughed, and sang our way to Christmas.
And that's the reason I am writing today. We are a great Football Club. The best. But we are more than that - we are a family that looks out for, cares for, and ultimately celebrates the unique privilege of being what we are: Evertonians.

Now I obviously know that all of this wonderful activity we see at Goodison is based on a clear plan, and is motivated by a relentless pursuit of excellence that can only be brought to life by long hours, hard work, and great commitment - but it still makes me proud to be Blue!
And I still want to say thank you not only to our tireless CEO Robert, his deputy, Denise, and her awesome Community team, but also to everyone who contributes at times like this. Whether it is to write that kids programme, organise that Missing People campaign day, or simply switch off the lights after another special Goodison day - you are Nil Satis.

First time I've read that other Degs, as you said mate class

Agree0 Disagree0

You won't see another chairman in the world who paints a better public image for the club than him, and we owe him a lot. Makes you feel proud

Agree0 Disagree0

Top class that isn't it. Makes me feel good to be a blue. There's a lot that can be said about Bill Kenwright, but at the end of the day, the man is blue through and through. He's as blue as the ski. You won't get City's owners or their American owners across the park sending a letter like that out.

Well done Bill.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - I'm with you all the way AL mate..

Totally agree. You've only got to see what has happened at Blackburn, Cardiff, Hull and today Southampton. With Uncle Bill we have a Chairman/ owner who might not be the wealthiest, but there's one thing you can never take away from him and that's his genuine love for the club as a fellow supporter. Could you imagine Everton playing in red with a Liver bird on our crest (or chicken if it were the Venkys) and being renamed the Everton Toffees?

Agree0 Disagree0

Still drop him in a heart beat for City or Cheleas owners though! Sorry but I would

I think it will be very very difficult for us to qualify for the Champions League. Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City all seem to be going on winning streaks now. They will all probably strengthen with big money signings now. I can't see any of them losing more than a couple of games in the second half of the season. Thus occupying the top 3 positions. We then have us, the Red S***e, Spurs, Manchester United and even Newcastle all within 9 points. The S***e have the luxury of Suarez scoring a goal every game (2 or 3 sometimes) and have played all of the top teams away from home. I think we need a win in the derby. a draw may not be good enough. Manchester United are only 4 points behind us and will also make some big money signings. Even if not, they seem to be picking up a bit now.
I am not saying we should give up.we should give it a real go! I am just saying that if we do make C.L., it will be an amazing effort and against the odds. I suppose a bit like Wigan winning the F.A.Cup!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be honest Degsy and hand on hearts the reality is we probably wasn't good or strong enough for a top 4 finish. Add to this no financial clout (compared to others around us) and it's always going to be a very very big ask of the team. That being said, whether we do or not the club is making massive strides in the right direction there's an air of positivity and we have some fantastic youngsters either in or on the periphery of the first team. It's a great foundation stone that Martinez is laying down and for the first time since 1987 I actually feel good about the way we are building. Everything seems to be fitting into place beautifully. I just hope some people don't get disgruntled if we don't make top 4 we need to be level headed and realistic. COYFBB!

Martinez speaking after saturdays game "But because of his situation in Spartak, obviously that he wasn't going to be involved too much, and the situation with Nikica Jelavic, we were quite happy to make it happen now.

"I do feel the money we are going to spend will be well spent."

I think with 2 more signing in this window and getting the team back to full strength we stand every chance

Lot of talk about Hernandez from Utd

Cannot see Moyes parting company with him, especially to EFC. It could hugely backfire on Utd and he will not take the risk, if we finish top 4 thanks to Hernandez that may prove the last nail in DM's coffin

Its a no go.

The young belgian lad would be a coup, but again looks like its hit rocks. Maybe the Jela money could push that one through.

Other than that, I think Kenwyne Jone is a dreadful idea. As would be Berbatov (who won't leave London for EFC).
Shane Long is not bad, he is quite tricky and not a bad finisher but I don't think he fits the bill of a side that is challenging top 4.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I still say we should be looking closer to home. Danny Ings at Burnley would be a class signing.

Mike-Ox Long

Probably cup game. He looked a bit doughy when he came out of the tunnel the other day, but I'd love him to come on as a sub against the red s@#$e and terrify their dodgy defence for the last twenty minutes.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it'll be best part of a month before we see him starting a game. He's overweight and hasn't trained for 4 weeks and before that was training with the kids. One for next season methinks

15 Jan 2014 17:22:46
Okay, so if Jelavic is going, and RM has already said that he is looking for a striker as Kone is out for a while, does that mean he's going to get 2 strikers in? Because, i'm sure he's said that no one will leave unless there is a replacement ready for them? Am I correct in saying that?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Less is more, we don't need 2 average strikers we just need one decent striker that knows where the net is

Agree0 Disagree0

And he's at Burnley Baz. A young 21 year old, scoring goals for fun who could become a Goodison legend. He's worth a punt!

Yes Yes and Yes

A true Blue and Everton legend, F**k off you Manc noobs

Leighton Baines is close to agreeing a new long-term deal to stay at Everton.

Former Toffees manager David Moyes twice failed in his efforts to take the 29-year-old England left-back with him to Manchester United last summer.

Everton are now increasingly confident they will shortly be able to confirm Baines, who signed for £6m from Wigan in August 2007, has committed the rest of his top-flight career to the club.

It is thought the deal could be worth £75,000 per week to Baines.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And worth every penny to the lad. A. Great servant at LB to both club and country. A proud and loyal Blue!

I would love to see Defour and Chicarito being brought in this transfer window. I think these two transfers along with already signed McGeady would really give us a boost for the top 4. However I am not saying that these are likely, as I don't think RM would want to spend the amount required to get these two in. Also I would like to agree a deal for Ince but for him not to join us until the summer. And I wouldn't mind a pre-contractual agreement to be concluded for Jack Colback as I think this would be a good addition to the sqaud after already having first-team players and competition for the midfield(not as competition for Barry/McCarthy, if Barry signs, which I think he will). I agree it is not the most attractive of deals but neccessary and logical. I do also really rate Michy Batshuayi, and would love to bring him to the club and see him as a more realistic transfer than Chicarito. In an ideal world I would love both of these strikers, but view this as not likely in this window. No presumptions, no guesses or 'sources' just pure opinion. what's yours?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hernandez is not of the required standard for us, he's average at best, lazy, goes missing for large spells of games, offside constantly.Think bigger we don't want Moyes' cast offs!.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Hernandez lazy? You seen him play? He chases round shadows for 90 mins and numerous utd players have come out and commented on how hard he works at training. He is the prime example of a professional footballer. Ask Ed 1 a liverpool supporter and he will say the same}

I agree Ed004. hernandez is a fantastic striker, one that works hard and is a great goal scorer. He can pick up nifty positions that Lukaku can't. I think Lukaku and Hernandez would be a great competition for each other as they are so different but are very good strikers. I believe that Hernandez will add something that we have not got at the minute as a striking option.Furthermore, Hernandez is a very mobile striker, a very clever striker and his anticipation is top class I think we need someone like that with the style we play. His movement alone would add something special to our club. Plus, he would be a major coup for everton as this lad is class and is currently being wasted at United. Despite not having a typical UTD strength sqaud, their forward selection is very very good.Henandez would be the best striker we could sign whilst staying in the realms of possibility.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - I agree he is being wasted but I honestly can't see him being sold or wanting to leave. His comments about the club make me feel he truly loves playing for it}

15 Jan 2014 13:08:06
Defour rumoured to be looking for a move would be a good target to strengthen the midfield

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Jan 2014 10:47:21
i know there's still two weeks to go in the transfer window, but I think if we don't bring in a couple more signings, I believe that the inthusiasim that is buzzing around the club and supporters will fade at a rapid rate, and when I say more signings I mean, not kenwyne jones.we need a realy good striker may be two.so if you read this bill and roberto don't ruin all the good work you have done for are great club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hearing things around our beloved club that we are interested in a striker no surprise there but wait the striker is a cb from a lower league. 300,000 the monies from recent sales Bill is keeping to produce his new broad way show "onwards & upwards"!
