I have been a BLUE for 65 years .
Can someone tell me what LFC have that we haven't?
I was convinced our youngsters would lose Monday night Simply cos they were playing RS.

Take today's game at WHU how did we perform so badly .
Seriously are their players that much better . I look at their team no Gerrard no Carragher no Rush or Dalglish to worry about so why do we in comparison perform the way we do in comparison!

They just won the league. don't be so negative.

Agree1 Disagree1

15 May 2017 15:59:11
You are completely missing the point Hugo
Yes they win the league, Yes brilliant BUT everyone I know not just me said they would loose re RS.

Anyway that was a side issue first team have not and I am simply saying their team in my opinion is no better than ours so I am asking what gives them this superiority is it BELIEF or TACTICS or are the opposition beaten often before they play them .

I know they have had major slip ups this year and Thank God cos if not they would have won the title .

I am not being negative at all, I think our record against RS is probably the worst in Premier league by a mile. Everyone is saying we over achieved, I think we done better than we were OBVIOUSLY the stats show that but I still think we should be far far closer to RS this season than we are. Certain players could have done better but that opens another can of worms.

Wild guess at £150m?

Agree2 Disagree1

14 May 2017 21:05:30
£120m for the first 3 not much for the others, tops £130m.

Agree1 Disagree1

14 May 2017 22:34:58
Really Anglesey blue? You reckon McCarthy and Cleverly would only get £10m and that leaves absolutely nothing for the rest.

McCarthy would have to go for more than £10m by himself. Isn't Cleverly going for £10m. Heard that was the re agreed fee when he went on loan. Don't know if that's true.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 May 2017 22:57:00
Throw McGeady in that mix. Seemingly we are looking £2m for him. If £2m can be got for him surely Lennon, Kone, Jags and even Niasse can get more.

Saying that, personally I'd hold onto Jags for one more season with Europe and all.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You won't get £10 million for McCarthy from Celtic which is where he wants to go. He's refusing to take a step down and join any lower league EPL team just because Everton want want him to move on.}

14 May 2017 22:59:11
The only problem we have, as ed2 always says is, players are only worth what someone will pay for them. Barkley may stay or may go for anywhere between 15-45 million.

We shouldn't think about money but more about potential and quality of player. I trust rk and sw to sell and buy the right players to push us on.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2017 10:34:21
McCarthy will go for at least 20 million, probably Newcastle. he won't go to Celtic as they won't pay the money! we paid £15mill for him and he's reaching his prime.

Agree2 Disagree1

15 May 2017 11:05:24
He would have made that 2 seasons ago alright scousedownsouth. Since then he has been plagued by injury and when he was playing was doing ok. I just hope his injuries and his apparent fall out (if true) with Everton doesn't effect what we get for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2017 08:08:35
Me too geoffjohno. No harm having a discussion eh. Ed007 so what you reckon will happen. Will Everton be forced to sell McCarthy to Celtic?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's the move McCarthy himself wants so there is a good chance it'll happen mate. He has said he doesn't want to move to a mid-table team and he certainly doesn't want to be fighting a relegation battle. Let's be honest here, unless you're leaving for the likes of Man Utd or Chelsea anything else in England is a step down from Everton so the chance to move back home, winning trophies for the club he's supported all his life who will dominate up here for years to come and playing in the CL appeals to him. He knows the Celtic fans would treat him like a God and he's older and wiser to deal with any sectarianism or racism dished out by opposition 'fans' - he was roundly booed and abused by opposition fans all over Scotland for choosing to play for Ireland when he was a kid which is one of the reasons he chose to move down south rather than sign for Celtic.
I wouldn't be surprised to see us break our transfer record for him but that's only going to be £6-8 million imo maybe with some add-ons to sweeten it a bit.
From what I've heard up here Everton are more concerned about getting McCarthy off the wage bill than they are about the actual fee they receive.}

15 May 2017 13:56:43
Thank you for that Ed007. I'd love to see Celtic getting him. At the same time I want Everton to get a decent price. What your saying is very logical and you no doubt have inside information. Love the dominance Celtic are having. I've had Celtic jerseys in the past.

Any chance of any Celtic players coming to Everton? To sweeten the deal like. I know swap deals are more or less a thing of the past but Everton might be interested in some the younger players up there.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I know Everton, Newcastle and West Brom have watched Stuart Armstrong who has had a brilliant season for us and for some strange reason his contract talks with us seems to have stalled and he only has a year left on his deal. I'd be gutted if he left as a lot of the support have him down as our next captain when Brown retires.}

15 May 2017 14:19:36
Dembele might leave too. Don't think we'll get our hands on him but I'd love to see us sign Kieran Tierney. Would be ideal replacement for Baines. Big blow for Celtic if them 3 mentioned left but I'm sure you's would have no trouble attracting players as you's are doing so good.

I'd imagine McCarthy would be a good signing if Celtic got him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Tierney won't be going anywhere for a few years, the lad's living the dream just now and has told people he wants to be here for 10 in a row. Dembele will leave but I think it'll be next year and hopefully he's at the World Cup with France and we get top dollar for him.
I'm actually from Hamilton and have watched McCarthy since he was a kid at Accies, personally I'd love us to sign him, when he was at Wigan I used to annoy the Utd fans on their site banging on about him and how they should sign him. The Celtic fans already love him and he gets a great reception when he's up watching games, it would probably be a great earner for him with all that image rights stuff too.}

15 May 2017 16:47:44
McCarthy would deserve it if he moved up and got idealised. He's similar to Roy Keane as he gives absolutely everything on the pitch. Thought he would be with Everton for a long time as he was young and started off so well when he came first. Best of luck to him wherever he goes. Player I always rated and liked.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2017 18:21:32
Hope the Celtic medical team get a huge pay bump if McCarthy arrives Ed :p.

{Ed025's Note - im sure they will get overtime anyway CT..

14 May 2017 13:19:55
What's everyone's opinion on harry macguire. Personally, I think he'd be a good signing good physically but also really comfortable when I've seen him on the ball and did a good job on rom when we played them.

14 May 2017 13:40:24
Hi Jo I think he is good mate but personally I like to think the Club would aim higher than Harry cheers, GuernseyBlue.

I see your point GB, would love a koulibaly or Van dijk but not having champions league to offer is a blow.

14 May 2017 14:09:07
decent squad player better than Pennington and would challenge Funes Mori and Jags, but I would think RK would be looking at someone more cultured to improve the defence.

14 May 2017 14:49:35
Who would you guys want.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 16:36:25
If we could I would like Stefan De Vrij and Jonathan Tah myself snap the pair up would be an immediate upgrade on the centre backs and both comfortable on the ball.

Agree0 Disagree1

14 May 2017 17:50:20
Not interested if there good on the ball. Want a defender who can defend.

Agree3 Disagree0

14 May 2017 18:21:01
Well they look awesome defenders but the point I am making is they are also confident on the ball. Both young Tah is 21 and De Vrij is 25.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath about either moving to Everton.}

14 May 2017 20:55:39
Wasn't about them moving Ed it was who I would love us to sign! A hope a dream maybe on a wing and a prayer.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Ah, OK ST.}

14 May 2017 12:54:53
Hope Walsh has been doing a lot of homework on the type of player that turns games in a league where defences are often hard to break down. The top players messi, hazard, griezeman, Rooney a few years ago, seem to be smaller and quick on the turn and that vital first movement opens gaps in the defence. Otherwise games can be bogged down in a game of chess around the 18 yard area and a lot of possession does not necessarily end in goals. So I hope the Rooney of 2017 does not return but that Walsh has detected some under the radar gems that the top clubs aren't also coveting. quick on the turn and quick to move the ball. not sideways!
Oscar.

My perfect replacement for Rom would be giroud think he's class and massively under rated.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - not a bad shout that mate..

14 May 2017 11:49:01
If we're going for Sigurdssen then why not get Llorente as well. Those to have an amazing understanding.

Agree3 Disagree0

14 May 2017 12:43:44
Take Giroud every day of the week me Johny89! Great shout that yanno. Can see him scoring 20+ goals at us where he will be a fan favourite not many of the Arsenal fancy him by the looks of it.

Could be worth a bid!

Everton the gear.

Agree1 Disagree1

16 May 2017 01:25:09
I think Giroud would be an excellent signing for us! I've always liked him since he joined Arsenal and always wondered why their fans just didn't take to him. Unfortunately i see him heading back to France, Montpellier or possibly Marseille. He doesn't look too happy here now, maybe under appreciated, and let's be honest Merseyside is a lot less desirable to live in than France.
His European experience would be a huge asset to us next season, and it could even tempt someone like Walcott to follow (if he's surplus to requirements and if we'd even be interested)

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2017 11:36:13
Would anyone take benteke if they get relegated? Not a direct replacement for Rom but as part of the squad?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - not for me johny..

14 May 2017 11:47:24
I just c him as better than what we have and surely that's the aim.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - lazy man for me johny and not the sort of character i want at everton, but thats just my personal opinion mate..
