Maybe a daft question but if Everton in principle sign players before window opens and it's official, can the 'signed ' player train with his new club before window opens?

Since everyone is away on their hols who would the player train with?

15 Jun 2017 15:17:58
Just thought we may be in training before window opens with us starting our season in july.

With these linked players signed and close to signing, bill and Elstone must be on holiday somewhere, quick get them all signed before they get back.

Hi ed, assuming Lukaku and niasse leave and sandro arrives. We will only have one striker. Do you know which two are likely to come in? I think we need at least 3 strikers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - well we certainly need two at least jipster, bobby wood is the latest name linked mate..

14 Jun 2017 16:58:51
Although we need 2 strikers, counting Sandro if he comes, we have a decent back up. DCL done ok last season. Seems to of done more than ok over the summer. I'd expect him to improve next season also. I wouldn't totally disregard him.

14 Jun 2017 21:36:28
I really hope that bobby wood link isn't true. I've watched him several times with the United States national team and I don't think he's top 7 quality. I feel we should be aiming for a better striker.

From what I'm hearing things are about to get really exciting.

We shouldn't be hearing any dissenting voices from Evertonians this summer and instead have a genuine feeling next season could see us challenge for the top places and trophies.

I'm literally weeing in my pants with excitement for next season. Blow your mind time blues!

So the McGuire rumours will be put to bed now . don't think he was good enough for us .

Harry McGuire is signing for Leicester for £17 million.

Eds, can you just clarify something. As far as I am aware, we have agreed a fee with Sunderland but pickford hasn't had a medical or agreed terms, is that right? So anyone can come in and match our bid and scupper the deal?
Hope this doesn't happen and it's mere formalities.

{Ed001's Note - correct but it is highly unlikely there will be any issues.}

cant wait for the 2017/ 2018 season to start because of our new signing from Sunderland called Jordan Pickford, also I am exited because it is Ronald Koeman second season in the first season he got us in Europa league qualification. The last time we were in the Europa league we got knocked out in the last eight against dynamo kiev and the score in that game was 6- 4. I am also looking forward for the new season because according to the news papers Everton are after a couple of players.

I personally think our opening fixtures are okay. The start of the season is the best time to play the big teams as players are still settling in and more erroneous results crop up. Then we have a long period of winnable games. Things could look great come Christmas.

14 Jun 2017 10:41:14
If the fixtures a randomly generated then how come both Merseyside and Manchester derbys land on the same weekend? TWICE?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2017 14:40:05
They are not all randomly generated. They have to take into account all kinds of events not just football fixtures so many of them are placed at certain times and dates.

The club's get a draft in before Xmas the previous year then another around march were they then reply back with specific requests. The main priorities are political conferences, City events, policing, weather and effects of potential other games.

A minefield!

If I was a conspiracy theorist then I would be very dubious of the start we have been given to our fixtures. However if we start well then things could look very rosy at the end of September having already played the top teams

Someone has something against us with those opening fixtures. Two years ago after finishing 11th the previous season, the following year 8 or 9 of our first ten fixtures were against top ten teams. Someone definitely doesn't like us.

Agree0 Disagree1

14 Jun 2017 10:19:13
TBH I think they are great fixtures at the start of the season. I would much prefer playing them then than at the end when we know how many points we need.
Grumpys theory is get the hard games out of the way before those teams start jelling.

Agree3 Disagree0

14 Jun 2017 10:26:04
Kind of agree. Plus at the beginning of the season teams are often still settling in new players and tactics. If we can prepare well and get players in early we could start with a bang.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2017 10:47:55
Definitely better to get them out of the way before the whole Thursday/ Sunday europa group stages start, if we get that far of course.

August 12 Stoke City (H)
August 19 Manchester City (A)
August 26 Chelsea (A)
September 9 Tottenham Hotspur (H)
September 16 Manchester United (A)

That is absolute hell!

Flip it. none of those teams enjoy playing Everton. and we could be a completely transformed squad by then 😁.

Baring in mind we are not great on the 1st game of the season I think having to play in the EL may be a great benefit in getting us ready for some hard fixtures. On the positive front these fixtures will impress on the board how essential it will be to get any transfers done early in the window. If we don't want to be bottom of the PL after 5 games.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2017 12:56:49
Not the ideal start but a few good results among that lot and confidence will be high.

14 Jun 2017 18:31:40
On the upside we'll have had a couple of competitive games by then in the Europa so hopefully we'll be sharper than them in the first few games.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2017 09:16:33
Well with that start to the season we could either be serious title challengers by mid September or we could be out of the top 4 race by the same time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2017 09:05:59
So uhh. easy start to the season then blues?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2017 07:50:45
I see a lot about us being linked ked to sandro but if lukaku does leave, surely we need another striker as well, we had lukaku last year but so desperately needed another striker when lukaku was having a walk around doing nothing game, and with sandro not playing in this league surely it would be a gamble only bringing him in, I'd like us to get Defoe as well he's done and would be as a back up.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

14 Jun 2017 11:24:08
Defoe signing for Bournemouth.

14 Jun 2017 05:08:57
Hey Eds, any word about Jesus Navas? Feel like we need some depth in the wingers and he could be a decent back-up and cost us nothing.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - He wouldn't "cost nothing" and is heading elsewhere.}

14 Jun 2017 08:51:36
Think I read that he hasn't scored or assisted in a goal since he's been at man city. Not good for a winger, on a free or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2017 09:18:49
That's not exactly true. He got 5 assists last year. 10 the year before. 11 before that. 13 before that. Having said that I don't particularly rate him and wouldn't want us to sign him.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2017 10:33:38
Wasn't sure cropper, was something I read. Still not good enough though.

All deals that seem to be on the go sounds great, but, please please please, let the smalling one be paper trash, how he ever got to play for england (other than being in a red shirt) is a beyond belife, but then i guess the same applies to henderson.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Jun 2017 07:49:59
Have you seen England? Our 5 in the u20s would be better than that lot.

I agree that Smalling is my first choice but he is does have experience.

Personally Keane is my first choice but there's a lot of competition.

Ronald Koeman is having a medical at Everton after agreeing to spend £30m on Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford.
