Kluivert DoF at PSG, does that mean we may get Monchi?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

15 Jul 2016 05:40:27
think Ed2 said Monchi will probably stay at Sevilla mate, I may be wrong though.

Does anybody know when the squad are due back?

15 Jul 2016 11:43:26
All players including those that played in euros will be training together on Monday. Squad is already training now in Austria just without the internationals.

Ed (s) , do you know if there has been any progression on the Director of Football front? Also do you know if Kevin Reeves left with RM, and if so have we replaced him with a new Chief Scout?

I think we fans have to remember that things take time and be patient. I would get things right behind the scenes, and employ the best possible team behind RK - DoF and Chief Scout in particular - before jumping in and signing players left right and centre.

I've said before I think we need 4-5 new players, but me might not get them in this transfer window. We have a whole new backroom team to put together behind identifying and chasing targets and that takes time. It should be about getting the RIGHT players in.

I think we need a CM, LW and CB to replace Stones, but beyond that I think we have a strong enough squad to have a respectable season.

We need to build strong foundations and walk before we run - even if it means not finishing top 6 straight away.

{Ed025's Note - i believe reeves is still here mate but in the shake up it looks like he will be ousted, moshiri was not happy that the scouts and reeves in particular over them having outside interests. it will take time ST as you say and the last thing we need is supporters getting on the clubs back, i just hope we all realize that we are on the verge of something special,...but rome was not built in a day..

15 Jul 2016 00:44:50
Could still get Monchi as Kluivert gone to PSG ad director of Football and as far as i am aware Reeves has left.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It looks like Reeves is still there mate, it's still listed as his job.}

15 Jul 2016 03:08:23
Cheers Ed, i was just going with Echo last night who said former chief scout.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I seem to remember Everton announcing he had left along with Martinez at the end of the season.}

14 Jul 2016 21:11:15
Ed025 I thought Reeves left along with Martinez, Jones and the goalkeeping coach (can't remember his name) . I remember ed02 mentioning him several weeks ago so maybe your right and he is still at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im not aware that he has left yet officially joe but its certainly on the cards mate..

15 Jul 2016 01:16:25
Ed025 Could you please explain why we're finding it difficult to get deals over the line. Is it convincing players to believe in Moshiri's vision for the club, or are we aiming to high? I'm just curious to what the difficulty is.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the euro,s have not helped mike with players being off limits while the tournament was on, there is also the lets screw everton because they have big money to spend factor and moshiri wont be taken for a mug, because of the sky money most clubs have a decent war chest so now teams like palace and stoke are looking for players in the £30m bracket so its not easy, things will start to settle very shortly mate and even though players and their scum bag agents are holding out for the very best deal we will compete for the very best players so dont worry..

14 Jul 2016 12:37:09
Well ed you said things would start happening this week your right we have been linked with more players haha you still think somthing might happen this week .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - hopefully mate, lots of irons are in fires but getting deals over the line is proving difficult, but it will all come good im sure of that..

14 Jul 2016 19:56:10
Cheers ed just can't wait to get started now i hate pre season.

{Ed025's Note - me too konehead, i cant wait for the first football coupon either, i really miss my footy bet on a saurday mate..

Any news on a dof yet? Or more specific monchi. As it seemed dead cert him going to psg but they just announced kluivert spelling aside.

14 Jul 2016 18:40:15
Patrick kluivert is director of football at PSG, do we still have chance with Monchi?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2016 18:30:44
The news broke on SLY that Kluivert was named DOF and not Monchi. I thought Monchi and Emery were a pair.

Does that mean Monchi may just be available to Everton? Any rumors or news on that front?

What do people think on the captain situation? Do you think Koeman will keep Jagielka on as captain? Perhaps at the end of the preseason he may elect a new captain. Personally I don't think Jags is intimidating enough or vocal enough to be captain material. You want your captain to be contesting every decision the referee makes against your team, you want him to be the player that riles the team up when things aren't going so well. The only player I see in this current team that could possibly be that man is Coleman. He's had the armband before for Rep. of Ireland, and for Roy Keane to say that he stepped up to the plate after being made captain is a huge gesture to the type of character Coleman is. What do you think Ed, and other posters?

Believable4 Unbelievable2

14 Jul 2016 16:17:41
I don't mind Jags and he tends to stay calm while at the back he keeps them organised. I would prefer a midfielder as he can influence a little more there but Captains on the pitch that shout and scream are overrated.

As for having a go at the ref. How many times have you seen a ref change his decision because a player had a go at him? usually the ref takes it personally and doesn't give you anything afterwards.

i thought Coleman captained the Rebublic well in the Euros, may be a good choice as captain.

Stones wants to go. good, no player is bigger than the club and to be honest wouldn't miss him. not good enough to get in current England team. 50 million, lovely jubbly.

I think ed002 maybe a football agent or chairman or something .1) his amazing and in depth knowledge of football transfer rumours, the ins and outs if completing transfers and how clubs are run 2) travelling to foreign climes and around the country on business especially summer time and Christmas (transfer windows) hahaha

Thanks for giving us the time to keep us informed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

Thanks Ed002. I appreciate your no holds barred, no frills, suffer no fools approach. Now, what is the chance Everton can coax Pele into coming out of retirement?

For all the Evertonians frustrated about lack of signings, let's put this in perspective. If we were in the same position now as we were 5 years ago, we would not have got Koeman (probably a young manager from the lower leagues, or Moyes back) , we would be selling Lukaku, Stones and Barkley, Osman and Hibbo would have new contracts, and our new manager would be telling us how Aiden McGeady and Darron Gibson are "like 2 new signings".

As it stands, we will be getting a new stadium, we have money to spend, we have a new, quality manager, a good squad, one of the best academies in the country, and a fantastic crop of youth players. The future is bright.

get the squad super fit, and we will have a really good team with 4-5 signings. stones going, invest that money on a 30-40 million quality defender with mori quality defense. hope lukaku stays as not that many quality strikers out there. barkley, mirallas, delboy, lennon, shani, besic could be world beaters if they stay fit and niasse could prove us all wrong and play off lukaku and bang them in. so a defender when stones leaves, striker if lukaku leaves, got some good youth coming through shani, mcaleny, dowell, pennington, galloway, garbutt, browning, holgate, ledson, they need first team experience. don't expect £150 million worth of signings coming in, i think we are nearly there, IF koeman is the right manager to get the best out of them.

be interesting to see what team Ron puts out next season as he is assessing them in training, he will start fresh and won't have any favourites, could be some of the new lads are first team starters if they impress that much, Garbutt may be 1st choice LB, Besic in midfield, Niasse instead of Rom (sorry got carried away there) , should be interesting.

I don't think we will buy anyone until at the earliest next Friday and not worth panicking yet, let's see what Ron wants.

Like all on here, it's frustrating sitting back watching the toffees sort transfers with little if any real knowledge of what's going on, so thought I would fill some time and select my Everton linked XI: (433)

Cillesen
Sidibe, Koubaily, Rugani, Martins-indi
Mata, Schneiderlein, Kovacic
Milik, Slimani, Wjinaldum

Subs: Diego Alves (gk) , Keane, Witsel, Sneijder, Ziyech, Haller, Llorente

What's yours?
