Further to what some other posters have mentioned, Financial Fair Play won't create a level playing field, as clubs will be allowed to spend all of their commercial income, which means ManUtd, etc. , will still be able to spend big on transfers. Also, as I understand it, it's the season-on-season increase in wages that's restricted (to a £4M increase per season) and not the total amount. So, if a big club is already spending say £70M on wages they can't increase it to more than £74M, which is surely ample for retaining their larger, better squad. We, on the other hand, will have to get our debt down while being restricted in the total amount we can pay in wages. A maximum £4M increase in our wage bill - boosted by the release of wages from players being transferred out - might not give us enough for the five or six players our squad needs - even if we could afford the transfer fees. A modern stadium that generates increased income is vital IMHO. We're in danger of getting into a Catch-22 situation: can't spend the money to be more successful, but can't be successful because we can't afford a better squad. Oh calamity!
What will a £4m pound wage increase buy United or City or Chelsea?
Not every player in those clubs' squads is on £250K a week - £4M per year is about £80K per week, so that'd pay the wages for one, maybe two, squad players on decent money.

On paper that QPatR team is as good as most that have come to Goodison this season. They were in a win or bust situation. I know they always draw or lose BUT today was win or bust. The job our boys did was second to none. Proper performance. Wish Moyes had made different subs as Tuesday is massive. Big Vic is now a player, saved us 6mill, good boy, lead the line like you have been doing and you can be a focal point for the things behind you. Seamus is unreal. We all know about Baines and felli. Gibson is too inconsistent for me, if you can dictate like you did today lad do it every week. If he can, and stay fit, again 6-8mill saved good on you. So impressed with them today and I don't think most on here are giving the right amount of respect or credit due.
We will get a result (win I don't know) on Tuesday and then the league changes complexion.
Still think we could do with a refresh in the summer in terms of Moyes but as he has done wonders putting together the third best team in the league (we have lost fewer games than everyone other than top 2) but the squad is better than he cares to show belief in, also his use of subs is shocking at times, BUT if we get top 4 he has to stay on and see where it takes us.
Very satisfied tonight, good job well done, such a banana skin missed in a horrible run in anyway.
Svenny
Lads don't ask me about the post a few days ago, no comments can be made and rubbish hit the fan anyway. I will state that I stand by my integrity on this site and I say what I hear but I can't answer questions so have to leave it at that. Cheers {Ed025's Note - cracking post svenny..

Need to take it one game at a time really, but the Arsenal game is going to be the really big test. For me, this is a must win in order to stay in touch with the group. Win that game, we move one point behind Arsenal, and level with Spurs and Chelsea (although they both have a game in hand, which coincidentally is against each other, so a draw wouldn't be a bad result).
That would leave us only really a point behind those 3.
Chelsea and spurs games look tough
Arsenal easier and they finish 3rd
Need to Chelsea and spurs to have wobbles
Arsenal are winning every week now
Realistically I think its between us and Spurs for fifth.
. unless we beat Arsenal.
I think to finish top four we need 12 points from our remaining games.
My prediction is
Arsenal - 70 pts
Spurs - 66 pts
Chelsea - 65 pts
Liverpool - 60 pts
Everton -?
I am not going to try and predict our total because I don't want to jinx it.

Happy with the result but we are going to have to play better than that against Arsenal, Vic, Mirallas, Distin and Gibson were superb, Osman was god awful and Pienaar has been awful ever since he cut his hair, I don't care about assists or whatever Pienaar has, he gives the ball away all the time and misplaces so many passes, he should be dropped as Oviedo can contribute more, Arsenal 3 goals in last 5 minutes and get a lucky penalty but at least Liverpool only drew.
COYB!
Mirrallas was cack! vic ok, distan done wot he had to, gibson should be captain, top top player.
13 Apr 2013 19:14:58
Said that about Gibbo after his first match for us mate, born leader, will probably be next after Jags
Degsy
Vic ok? jeeze your tough to please!
Personally I wonder how distin became a footballer as he has 2 left feet
Vic runs around a bit but he's not the answer to our needs - the petulant child thing he does all the time when things don't go how he wants is pathetic to watch - grow up
Mirrallas needs to learn when to pass
Good performances elsewhere like Coleman who I used to think was cack
Jags was good and gibbo and Howard also great today
Ossie at least did not walk about all game and looked busy but too easy to dispossess
Baines was good I thought also
Still prefer jela over vic {Ed025's Note - your a bit of a moaner, are,nt you mate!...and you dont seem to know a good player when you see one either!
As I said vic was ok, chased down a cpl of times, went down like a fairy a cpl of times and scored a flick on, woopey de doo! what u want jeeeeez!
13 Apr 2013 22:15:31
How Distin became a footballer? By being an extremely solid centre back who has pace, strength and is fantastic in the air, but you don't question how Rory Delap or Stephen Warnock became footballers?, you sir are an person.
COYB!
Vic covered a lot of ground, gave their back 2 a hard time, SCORED, that's better than ok pal
I was surprised fellaini and pienarr didn't have more of a impact on the return to team, I not saying either where poor just nothing great either.
13 Apr 2013 17:55:14
If you have that opinion of M'Bia, I don't believe you've ever watched him properly.

Tell you what guys we beat arsenal on Tuesday and we are tight in the mix for a champions league place! Exciting times!
13 Apr 2013 17:19:56
Neil warnock / Garth crooks both RAGIN over that gunners
pen - given by a linesman 50 yards away! The bas**** luck we get at times!

Massive game tuesday now we must treat it like a cup final a win and were right in there COYB Stef the blue
Agree Stef but Arsenal were dead in the water today before that bloody attention seeking t*** of a linesman handed them the game on a plate
I think we can get some joy against Aresenal from set pieces, especially corners without Mertesacker they are quite poor in the air as the goal they conceded against Norwich showed. They looked uncomfortable every time ball went into the box. With Fellaini, Distin, Jagielka, and Anichebi in the air is were we can
hurt Arsenal. Its a must win for champions league. I believe we will get a positive against Arsenal.
COYB.
Dero.

That look on Arry's face, PRICELESS.
Well done Vic, great goal, which you truely deserve.
13 Apr 2013 11:09:42
I would fancy long keenedy mcAleny lunstrem and villous to make into the first team more next season
Isnt Villios as disease
13 Apr 2013 11:06:21
would like to see this team today
howard
coleman jags distin baines
mirillas gibson felli pienar
anichebe jelavic
however it will more likely
howard
coleman jags distin baines
mirillas osman gibson pienaar
felliani
anichebe (i think he'll pick vic instead of jela)
would like moyes to stick with jelavic and vic up front as I thought they looked dangerous together for 30mins vs spurs last week and I also think with felli dropped further into the midfield we will be less inclined to hoof it forward if plan a doesn't work
1878barlow
I'd actually use Felli from the bench, my team would be:
Howard,
Baines, Jags, Distin, Coleman
Pienaar, Gibson, Osman, Mirallas
Anichebe, Jelavic.
I think as you said, Jela and Anichebe look dangerous together. Also means Jelavic gets more service than when Fellaini starts.
Steve EFC
Wouldnt drop osman he's been superb more often than not this season
13 Apr 2013 09:59:09
Hey Bluenoses! I was just thinking, who out of the up and comers do you think will break into the first team next season?
I think Duffy will play far more next season, as we most probably will phase Distin out. I also think Matty Kennedy and Stones will be pushing. Kennedy needs a shot I think, I say play him on the last day of the season (only if we don't HAVE to win that game). I also think surely Vellios will be making a proper break through, I really like him, think he could be one heck oof a striker for us. Oh and, whatever ever happened to that Azerbaijan U21 starlett we were trying to get a work permit for?

I think our team will most likely look like this next season:
Howard
Baines, Jagielka, Alderweild (Spelling), Coleman
Pienaar, Gibson, Fer, Mirallas
Diego (I can wish)
Jelavic

Why the heck would we let Leon Oman go he has been brilliant he has scored goals made assists and most of all he's a role model keep him
You wouldn't take 6 million for him? I like Osman, and he has scored some great and important goals over the years - but just like Tim Cahill, we can't afford any sentiment at Everton.

was wondering if anyone knows what has happened to the everton museum/center that was getting built next to goodison? haven't been manages to get to the match for a while and was wondering? did they scrap it
I went on the tour of goodison a few weeks ago and the lady giving the tour explained that our old trophy room had been made into function rooms and all the trophies are in storage because the new museum has been put on hold due to money.
Robbie
I expect that our trophies were so long ago that they were valued as antiques and were sold off to help finance our debt repayments. There was nothing left to put in a museum - apart from the architect's drawings of the proposed building. I did hear that Phil Neville and the other over-30s in the squad were asked to be on display (as ancient monuments), but it was decided to try using waxwork dummies instead - until a lot of the fans said they couldn't tell the difference.
CheekyChappie {Ed025's Note - quite good that mate..
