Heard Newcastle are going to offer £15m for Weimann and Delph, from Villa. Don't rate Weimann much (works hard, but very little skill), but Delph is seriously top quality. If he is available for around £10m we should bite their hand off.

Try and get Barry back next season, with Delph his understudy to learn from then take over the season after and we could have our midfield trio (Delph, McCarthy, Barkley) for the next 10 years. I genuinely believe he is capable of that role, but he is so much more technically able, he could be world class. Like McCarthy, if a big team spends £10m on his now, he'll be worth £25m+ a year later.

Know if there's any word of us being interested? and if not, can you put one in ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Really like Delph, great little player

If we get barry, I would like to think that both george green and ryan ledson would be stepping up to take over from him in next 2 years. wouldn't want to fork out 10 mill on a player whose position we have covered already in a couple of years time and already have the 'stop gap' in barry until those 2 are ready. Would much prefer us to lay as much of out budget on 2 strikers.

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember us having a interest in him when he was at Leeds. Think there is definitely better out there though who we could afford.i know bobby is on about baines playing left DM but I reckon Oviedo could do the job there.from what I've seen in the euro u17 games Ledson is going to occupy the position next to McCarthy very soon.the kid is pure quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

Delph the same one who has stood out a few times in a woeful villa team, he's no we're near the standard needed

*yawn* another flavor of the month player, runs and does the odd tackle, scored a good goal mind but nothing special, 10m? kiss it

Agree0 Disagree0

Undeniably Villa's player of the season. Makes only slightly less tackles than McCarthy (0.2 less per game), more than anyone else in our squad. More interceptions than anyone but jags. Less fouls than McCarthy and Barry and More dribbles than everyone but Ross. All over the course of an entire season. Yeah, clearly just a 'flavour of the month'. This lad is quality, and NO ONE is mentioning him, so it's hardly like he's being hyped. I've been hugely impressed by him in every game and Sam Tighe, the football writer I trust most in the world, says this kid is ready for the top, and I believe him.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2014 18:32:23
a football writer? like martin samuel? they all chat crap, where was delph 1, 2, 3 or in fact, ever before this season, one good season, whuppy doo, before that he's done zilch, ready for the top? where? newcastle? don't squeeze my titz

{Ed025's Note - the guy is expressing an opinion swan!..and you may not like it, but its everyones right..

13 May 2014 19:26:57
yes its his right to have an opinion and my right not to agree with it, though to be fair most of my posts recently have been 'hes crap' and yep that's about it, from now on I will leave it, unless it gets too ridiculous, like really really ridiculous, sawwy ab, the following statement may shock and amaze you, but i'm not the most positive of posters, so no more player slating, from now on you're going to see a new swan!, well not really, just less player slating, John. Stones.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you just need to lighten up a bit mate, your a better poster than only moaning about other players fella..

You need to stop acting like you're some footballing genius who knows everything. Yes, I trust this football writer, because he's PAID to do what you think you can. You're not just negative, I'm negative, you're just unpleasant.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - he is playing for emelec in equador..

13 May 2014 16:20:51
shocked no one snapped him up, clubs should of been neck and neck for him, but he was tosh, sucked the life out of any game, could always count on him though to drive a stake right through the opposition defences, he only had one good game against man city, came alive that night, thank god he is in ecuador, he could of came back to bite us, that was terrible

I haven't posted in a while, but really happy with how Roberto's 1st season has gone but even more excited at the fact of what is to come it looks like we have some really exciting prospects ready to break into the 1st team in the next couple of years. I think next season I would know 7 names on the team sheet automatically.
Howard
Coleman
Baines
Stones
McCarthy
Barkley
Mirallas

And we have Jags and Distin to compete for the other CB. If we can Barry to stay for 1 season before he goes to the US hopefully Ledson will be ready then. We have Oviedo and Garbutt as backup for Baines. Hopefully Gibson will be like a new signing next season to cover CM.I think Mcgeady has shown flashes of what he can do and see if we can get Delboy for another season. The main priority is going to be a Striker or two they win you games and we can play brilliant and have all the possession but need that killer instinct. I would agree with the majority and like to see Bony arrive. Naismith is a great backup to Barkley we also have Osman as a good squad player and G.Green to come through. My shopping list for the summer is-
Gk- Backup Ruddy?
RB- Backup Clyne,
CM Backup Rodwell?(could fill in as a CB), Diame, Fer
Wingers x2 Zaha, Young, Nani, Redmond
ST- Bony or Lukaku plus 1
Others- Holtby,

Would love us to be able to get Lallana but not likely.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

12 May 2014 20:58:41
wouldnt pay 10m for a backup injury prone keeper in john ruddy, nani and young are absolutely awful, fer is crap, rodwell, lol, clyne no thank you, lallana, no chance, good day!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you have summed it up, Robbie. I reckon Lukaku will be very difficult to replace. As would Barry if he goes elsewhere. We seem to have the dosh, so let's hope the club can unearth some quality. I would take a gamble on an up and coming player like Lukaku. Bony does look excellent, but we will have to over pay for him now. let's hope Barry does sign. Very important time for the progress of the club. I am sure some new young African or South American will shine at the World Cup. and then we get in quick.

Agree0 Disagree0

OK swan you agree on the positions we need who would you bring in then? I know young and Nani have been rubbish but they have been good in the past and they are the type of player who would shine for Roberto giving them freedom and confidence we can't go for players at the top end of the market. the likes of Carrick who was one of the players of the season 12/13 has been terrible last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2014 01:31:04
gk-keylor navas, absolute quality

rb-sam byram from leeds, can fill in on the wing too

cm-diame, great footballer but inconsistent, 3m? why not
colback-gives us a decent utility player for free

winger-tadic, wonderful little player

striker-bony, words cannot describe how good he is, if not, batman or fingerblasting

young has always been crap, even at watford, he does one step over and crosses it poorly, he's weak, a diver and has some of the worst movement I've ever seen, he is woeful

nani is a more inconsistent version of young, both rubbish but young is on a more regular basis

people talk about champions league, newcastle are linked with grenier, fans want us to sign chris brunt, west ham get nocerino, fans want us to get rodwell, where is the ambition? i'm sick of this attitude of filling the team with players who will do a job or just count toward getting 11 players out, I mentioned colback, that's one, not a whole team, our fans don't like the idea of us being utds feeder club yet want us to sign their deadwood at any chance, young, nani, valencia, welbeck, cleverley and zaha, shocked no one has mentioned ferdinand yet as he is leaving them, sure someone will post we should get him, nsno, we aren't living up to that motto

Agree0 Disagree0

OK Cygnet, everyone has their opinion on who we should sign I would love us to be going for Lallana etc but until we get proper investment we have to go for players who have a point to prove etc. Byram a good shout.

Agree0 Disagree0

Swan makes a very good point we should be looking for players that have potential or a very good track record at CL level. I for one liked McCarthy at Wigan but did not expect him to make the impact he has in his 1st season with us. I think Robbie will look to bring in players he thinks he can develop and possibly one or two proven players that have a good track record that may be towards the end of their careers. Either way I think there will be a few suprises that may invoke some good discusion. I would look at the teams going down to see if we can cherry pick some of there talented players. Some of them may well be able to blend into our squad and may supprise a few of us ala McCarthy. We definitley need to strengthen up top so hopefully be being wise taking free's, players we can develop and with our youngsters coming through we may be able to afford a proven quality striker. As for the keeper situation I don't see why people want to get rid of Robles? He is young and still learning his trade. If we were looking to replace Tim in the near future then maybe but IMO that is not the case. So why not see how he develops over the next season or two. I don't see the point in spending money on a backup keeper that may only play a few games a season. If Tim gets injured then okay possibly reasses the keeper situation but until then why spend what little money we have on a player that will proably sit on the bench for most of the season anyway?

question for ED007.
I know this will have been done on here before but
what do you think the chances of the 2 Glasgow Giants ever being allowed to join the EPL?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't think it will ever happen and don't want it to either. It's more likely that a European League will be the way forward and Celtic will probably be invited into a second tier of it but I don't know how Partick Thistle will fit in if at all.}

12 May 2014 16:00:28
what a squad, well no actually, poor squad but great news cleverley isn't in it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No but his dad Frank is!

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't wait to see the posts if we do sign cleverly in the summer. I remember our resident super experts telling us why Martinez was the cheap option, and why that old, sideward passing Barry shouldn't be near our team.

{Ed025's Note - your right lee, and dont forget that no hoper gibbo.. :)

{Ed025's Note - i echo that GB mate..

12 May 2014 13:00:07
Adrian Ramos just signed by Dortmund for little over 8m. This just shows the quality available out there for under 10m. Whilst we look to spend potentially double on the likes of Lukaku or Bony players like this get picked off for buttons. Just an observation, I don't know if we ever looked at him, but that's a good price.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Drmic gone to Leverkrusen for £4.07 million. Look at Michu, £2 million. Certainly some bargains to be picked up. I've got faith in Bobby to sign some very good players to improve us. Think there might be a couple who we won't of even thought about.

Give it a rest mate the season finished only yesterday a bit early to start panicking what other teams are doing.

Shame you guys have missed out on the famous "finishing about the RS trophy" you have banged on about for the past two years. Gutted for you.

On a serious note though, I enjoyed watching you this year, playing some brilliant football with a young squad. Barkley and Stones have stood out for me. But your best asset is your manager, what a class act. His speech at the hillsborough service showed he is the perfect manager for you, true gent. Plus, he seems to know a thing or two about football, which helps. Your future looks very promising.

Still though, I hope you finish 17th next year haha. Well done on a great season lads, exceeded my (and many others) expectations. Been one of the best PL seasons in a long time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The "finishing about the RS trophy". new on me that :-/

Agree0 Disagree0

Both teams had a good season mate' but on your behalf Rogers cost you the league because he has no plan B, teams are starting to find yis out now.I am not having a go but normal service will resume next year and I can see you struggle to get into the top 4 it was a 1 hit wonder by you this year and with your club in financial mess losing a million pound a week I just don't think yis will last long back in the top 4.Rogers has to change his tactics next year otherwise it will be a long season for yis good luck and well done this year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Use fans don't set ourselves unrealistic targets to be then ridiculed afterwards. Unlike a team who celebrated the league 4 weeks ago. Still, you reds have given us such laughter the past 2 weeks. You call us bitter yet your the most bitter fans in the league. keep giving us the material and well done on finishing above us this season. and the trophy count this season is Moyes 1 Gerrard 0

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree Blueboy just ask Utd fans and they will tell you Lfc fans are bitter to the bone, and yes they made a laughing stock of themselves thinking they won the league weeks ago.I wonder if the comedy channel will try show there games next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair post mate, nice words (I think!). The future is rosy for us, been a great year given the usual constraints every Everton manager has to work under. We did great business in summer and Martinez has totally transformed how we play. As for yous, not a bad season ey. Not too bad at all (gritted teeth)

Agree0 Disagree0

Makes no sense to start the post with a condescending opening sentence then a little bit of praise all because you missed out on the title, haha so so sad

Agree0 Disagree0

OneLastRun. Glad we were able to assist your end to the season with that home defeat to Man City

I've just gone through the television money and premier league prize money list. Add it all up and Everton are due £89.7million.
Each place up the table gets £1.2m from the premier league. The other money is shared out fairly evenly with TV appearance fees the only inconstant.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah but it was about 68 million last season so it is an icrease of about 20 odd million 30 at a push so the only difference this summer to others is we won't have to sell to generate money. Our budget for transfers will be about 25 - 30 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would the increase in budgets for the premier league as a whole just inflate transfer prices as everyone can afford more so makes higher bids? Maybe just for the premiership to premiership transfers

Agree0 Disagree0

BlueClarkey, players agents are not stupid, expect many existing players to ask for pay rises, this eats in to funds as well mate. 25 man squad, everyone asks for 2k a week more. that's 50k a week more which equates to. 2, 600,000 million out of the transfer budget. Factor in the likes of Barkley and Stones probably getting about 20k a week more than currently and it becomes about 3-3.5 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the time is right for Pienaar to be moved on, he is picking up at least 40/50k a week and that could be redistributed to Stones/Barkley new deals.

Thanks Blues for a fantastic season. Hope we add some more quality to our squad for next season and go 1 better. Lots of positives for next season. We have the best 2 full backs in the league in Coleman and Baines. We have 2 of the brightest propects in the league in Stones and Barkley. We have one of the hardest working young talented midfielders in the premiership in McCarthy, if he can add more goals to his game like he did today on a regular basis we will have 1 of the best midfielders in the league. The young lad Ledson looks a hell of a player for the future. We should have Oviedo back to his best soon and we have 1 of the youngest, brightest manager in the league. Lots to look forward to next season. COYB.

Am I right in thinking we want Arsenal to win the FA Cup as it means we go straight into the group stages of the Europa League. That's what I made of the info on the premier league site but I won't lie it's not the easiest thing to make sense of!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Correct

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm pretty sure we need hull to win the cup for us to go straight into the get in to the group phase!

Thanks Jonno.

Agree0 Disagree0

I posted the following a few days ago. (Tottenham have now secured sixth place.)
"06 May 2014 22:28:15
May I suggest that we all hope that Arsenal win the FA Cup final, as that means we'll go straight into the group stage of the UEFA Europa League and Hull City will go into the third qualifying round. That way we're sure of six group stage matches - and some corresponding money.
If Hull City win the FA Cup final, they'll go straight into the group stage, and we'll have to get through the two-legged playoff round immediately prior to the group stage.
The third qualifying round is the two-legged round immediately prior to the playoff round.
The team finishing 6th - almost certainly Tottenham, but ManUtd have an outside chance - will enter at the third qualifying round or the playoff round depending on who wins the FA Cup final."

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather arsenal lose I can't see the butchers from Austria who train twice a month being up to much, hull all the way
