Just read that Antonee Robinson had a good game against France playing against Mbappe, Griezman and Pogba. I know it's only a friendly and they don't wanna get injured before World Cup, but maybe he could rotate with Baines next season?

With so much speculation about, it’s impossible to know how much truth there is in any of it. Press know we’re in the market for players in a number of positions and we’re linked with any that are available. Brands said himself that the phone hasn’t stopped ringing. You don’t need to find players any more, they find you!

{Ed025's Note - your right blue mate..

12 Jun 2018 22:57:16
Antonee Robinson is already our player though, was on loan at Bolton last season. Lizarazu sung his praises, he was one of the best left backs of the last few decades in his prime.

Could we go through another season with Baines as our only proven LB?

13 Jun 2018 10:00:24
Smit666, who do you prefer as backup to Coleman? Kenny a youth player through the ranks or Martina a proven RB with PL experience? If the management think either Robinson or Connolly are good enough understudies why bring in a journeyman as a backup. If they want to replace Baines then that's different.

Not a direct response to your post Oilblue. Was just making the point that all speculation is, at the moment, just that. I don’t know a lot about Robinson other than he got good reviews at Bolton too. I guess the question is, is his development suited better to playing a role from the bench for us, or in the first team for another team? We have a lot of youngsters, but we need quality and experience on our bench too.

13 Jun 2018 16:06:05
And what do we do if Baines and/ or Robinson get injured?
Put Martina back in?

Coleman 1st choice, Kenny 2nd and Martina 3rd.

"Proven" premier league RB? . That's rather optimistic sa90, you're definitely a glass is half full kind of guy. Baines, Kenny, Martina for me. Kenny was decent last year, more game time will only help develop him further so he has to be ahead of Martina, I think he's a better player too.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2018 16:53:17
I know what you're saying Blue, it's a tricky one. If he goes out on loan he should get guaranteed game time. But then we would probably need to pay out for a top LB to compete with Baines.
I suppose we'll just have to follow Brands' and Silva's opinion on this one mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2018 17:08:15
Smit666 the management have stated that the squad is far too big and we need to get reduce the size of the squad before we bring in additions. So having 3 RB and 3 LB just in case is probably too many players. I would look at two for each position with any additional players coming from the U23 postional change ie CB or midfield filling in or loan if required. I hope we sell Martina as I don't think he is good enough but I wouldn't necessarily bring in another LFB unless I wanted to replace Baines and use him as the back up.

13 Jun 2018 18:34:35
Sa90 Baines has one season left at best and it is too early this season and next for Robinson. We need someone integrated with a view to being no1 when Baines moves on or breaks down.
Most positions on the field can be covered by moving players around but L/ RB is a bit different, especially in the prem. If we are having a young understudy we need experienced cover.

{Ed001's Note - he is an excellent player, along with Neves he was the standout player in the Championship last season.}

Been speaking to a mate who supports Norwich he says he was outstanding last season and he's a future England player would be a steal at £20-£25 million not blessed with pace but positionally sound and can pick out a pass definitely an upgrade on Rooney.

Sounds good Lee.

My mate is a Norwich fan too and he’s said he’s the best player he’s seen in a yellow jersey. He’s also said that at £20-25m, that’s a steal too. He reckons he would go for £40+ if he was playing prem football.

Hope we can lure him to Goodison!

From what I've seen he looks quite similar to Barkley. The big difference is he seems to actually have a football brain.

Had to laugh at the bs coming from big Sam, it was apparently his desire to lead us into our new stadium! Now after subjecting us to some of the most awful football available, it carries on with

"You must have a team that is going to perform in a stadium of that capacity and deliver. ”

I'm sure he means well but that's the expectation of every fan of every club big or small, now if only he could have used that in his stint in charge. "a team that is going to perform. "

It depends on what you mean by perform his teams win games so therefore in his mind perform. For him its all about not loosing not style.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2018 18:54:01
It's a massive contrast to Silva. Sam is to not lose whereas it's going for the win with Silva. It's why the Sam's and Moyes of this world never win anything at all, ever.

Silva in his short career has more trophies than Sam and Moyes put together. Hopefully with us, he extends that gap.

Blimey BJU just reading or hearing the words Allardyce and Moyes makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Happy days ahead with Silva I am sure.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jun 2018 20:06:45
I understand those points and agree Sam and moyes won't win you a trophy but at least a moyes team showed conviction, Sam's would have been more exciting had they all stood on the goal line. Don't think anyone on here will argue a case for great football under him, mind you with all the football played in 1 half imagine the savings from building half a stadium.

Moyes was a great manager for us on a very limited budget, he was not given time at Man United. It baffles me why any blue can knock him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0333's Note - I also think he was very good for you but i was flabbergasted he got the United job, completely out of his depth.

13 Jun 2018 01:51:50
When asked on talk sport who would he play against Tunisia, Died or Henderson, he said. Both. Lol there you go.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jun 2018 12:01:35
Because he only came close once in 11 YEARS to winning a trophy. Made my club sound like a second rate pub team that should be honoured to be on the same pitch as the "BIGGER" clubs and told us after joining United that if he was still our manager he would sell our best players to the "BIGGER" clubs! 《This was probably the reason he NEVER won a trophy with us.

Any eds shed any light on the sporting fiasco surely even if the players terminate their contract sporting will still own their registration so non will be leaving on a free but at a lower transfer fee than what they expected although I could be completely wrong.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is impossible to say mate. The different parties could come up with an amicable arrangement or it could end up in a damaging and extremely lengthy court case. I would certainly expect none of them to just move on a free.}

12 Jun 2018 09:55:11
Surely sense should prevail and if they do terminate the contract then whoever is interested in the players should deal with sporting and offer a transfer fee unfortunately in this day of greed that prob won't happen and it will drag on and end up in court when the same outcome will happen and sporting will get a fee ha ha.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jun 2018 11:24:31
If Everton went any of their players they should negotiate a fee. Waiting until the court case is not beneficial to any of the parties.

Would hope we do everything by the book with regards any player or dare I say players (would love Martin's aswell) hopefully a deal can be done with sporting and both club and player are happy.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jun 2018 12:25:24
The problem is behind an attack on the players whilst training. Some were very seriously assaulted. As this happened at their training ground you can see why the players want out as it does look like the club can no longer protect their safety. This should never be allowed to happen in any walk of life.

Regardless of whose to blame for the fans anger, the club have seemed to have failed in their duty of care to their players.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jun 2018 19:04:56
I heard rumblings and also saw a report that we are an interested party and trying to negotiate a fee to do things the right way which I feel is commendable and the right course of action.

Bruno De Carvalho - the Donald Trump of football. There's a conspiracy theory in Lisbon that as an ex-ultra supporter, De Carvalho organised the mob himself as punishment against his players for only finishing 3rd in the league. Apparently some of the players believe this, hence the mass contract cancellation.

I was talking to a scout from the Irish league and he was of the opinion that by at least 19 if a kid wasn't near first team football he wasn't going to make it but didn't Roy Keane head to England at 21 and Ian Wright develop late I'd be pleased to hear a different opinion on this as we've a great kid at our local club who could do well but he's 18 already.

I’m pretty sure that at the age of 19, they should be “near” first team football. Of course there might be the odd exception to the rule but look at everyone’s who’s come through our academy over the last 10 years, how many have actually made it to the big stage?

Rooney - he played at 16.
Barkley - pretty sure he was 16
Rodwell - made it big stage, no idea where he is now
Mustafi - won the WC!
Anichebe - don’t know where he is now but did okay for us
Vaughn - I thought this boy was going to be a rocket but never quite reached his potential.
Duffy - not a top player but he’s made it I suppose.

There are probably a few more but none that spring to mind. I guess Richard Dunne and Baines could made it on this list but I have no idea how old they were when’s they broke into their first team squads.

A lot of players like Baxter and anyone that’s 21 or 22 will never make into the first team. Especially when you consider how far they are behind players like Sane, dele alli, Sterling, stones, martial!
