According to many foreign reports we have signed Besic for 4m. though won't believe it until I see it on OS. Hope it's true, cracking prospect.

Of course all this talk about transfers has taken the focus off the new ground issue. Thought we were close to making a decision on that?

EFC stated they had found a site ie Walton Hall Park but never said they were going to start building it. IMHO its not a great site you only have Walton Hall Avenue which is a bottle neck at Queens drive then another bottle neck at the East Lancs Road, Its far worse than around Goodison park There has got to be a better site if they are definitely not going to refurbish Goodison.

Wind your neck in pal, people like yourself moaned about the lack of transfer activity. Now we are making moves you find another stick to beat the club with. Whilst I agree that each fan has the right to their opinion, I find it both tiresome and unnecessary that people feel the need to pick faults. The clue is in the word 'supporters', support your club not run it down. This is going to be another good season boys and girls, positive thoughts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spudv, I don't need to wind my neck in, you don't know what people like me are, that post was not a moan, when I do start moaning you'll know what a moan is, I was only stating in my opinion it is not a good site, I want to stay at Goodison. But if we have to move it has to what's best for EFC, not just where the council may want to put us.

Sorry thought this was a banter site. Wouldn't want to upset narrow minded people who can only think of one thing at a time. So sorry Spud.

Kirbo, wasn't directed at you at all, I was commenting on opening post.
Woburn, I pointed out that we are all entitled to our opinions, my concern is that there is too much doom and gloom at times on here. From lack of activity in the market to the ground, why can't people just be happy we are going in the right direction? I'm far from narrow minded and certainly not upset, multitasking is not a problem either. My problem last night was too much stella :)

Fair enough spud, just got a little bored with the usual gossip and fancied talking about something different. Ps Stella will frazzle the brain mate.

No worries mate, I wouldn't have even posted if it wasn't for the drink.it certainly wouldn't have come across as confrontational if I was sober! You're right about the stella though but it was worth it at the time!

Must say well happy with getting Barry deal doen soon as and that the thought of signing this Besic and Caulker excites me a lot although scoring goals next season is a little concern. Surely we're priced out of Lukaku and Bony, so any idea of any striking targets? Never rated Cerci and never seen him as lone striker. Any update on Kone fitness too as would be like a new signing?

After a great season surely its not just a case of adding numbers to the squad we have to improve it, Rodwell, Traore, Cleverley, are not going to improve us, the kids can give us the extra numbers, we've got to get two or three quality players in, I did like the looks of Besic, good control with pace and only 21. I just hope we don't lose out by trying to get him on the drip, My fear is we lose out on the better players while we wait to see what Lukaku is doing.

Agreed kirbo very well said indeed

According to RM on the official club website, he believes we'll need 22 outfield players in the first-team squad in order to cope with the coming season's challenges in four competitions.
He's also recently said that we'd like to bring in 4 new players, which is lower than the 6 or 7 previously quoted, but I guess that's because we've already signed Barry - plus Hibbert and McAleny have signed contract extensions. RM has also said that 5 youngsters will join the first-team squad for pre-season training: they're Tyias Browning, Luke Garbutt, John Lundstram, Chris Long and Matthew Kennedy. It's up to each of them to prove himself worthy on a first-team squad place.
So, apart from those 5 youngsters, our first-team squad's outfield players would currently appear to be these 21 players: Coleman, Baines, Jagielka, Distin, Hibbert, Oviedo, Stones, Alcaraz, Duffy, McCarthy, Barry, Gibson, Francisco Junior, McGeady, Barkey, Mirallas, Osman, Pienaar, Naismith, McAleny and Kone.
I could quite easily imagine Duffy and Francisco Junior leaving - of at least going back out on loan - just as I could imagine McAleny and some of our U-21s also going out on loan (not only the 5 mentioned above, but others - like Hope, Pennington, Grant, Green, Ledson, etc.)
Anyhow, as it stands, I make it that the current 21 players (plus the 5 youngsters) and the potential 4 incoming transfers give us more than the number that RM wants, so, some will miss out.
We also need to be careful about how many non-homegrown and over-21 players we have in our registered 25-man squads for the Premier League and the Europa League. Although under-21 players don't have to be in the registered 25-man squads (other than, I believe, new under-21 loanees having to be registered for the Europa League) - and we seem to be OK for homegrown players (and club-developed players for the Europa League) - we're looking like having full 25-man registered squads this coming season. I wonder if our Premier League and Europa League squads will be different.

Apparently this lad we had "signed" is going to Swansea who offered 4 million upfront where as we offered 2.5 plus add ons.
Know nothing of him so not exactly disappointed

All gone quiet on the Besic rumours down here. Apparently the Swans are close to signing Jefferson Montero. The swans chairman has also said during an interview yesterday that the club have not heard from Liverpool regarding Bony

If Lukaku really wanted to sign, you would like to think he would try and force the move and not say he needs two weeks to think about it. The sooner we get the squad assembled and training together the better we will be

Just been on You Tube watching Muhamed Besic .
Very similar to Fellani in stature and style.
Looks a handy enough player who certainly won't be knocked off a ball easily.
Will pick up a number of yellow cards though.

As we're financially better set than in previous transfer windows, these look to be exCiting times rather than exiting times at Everton :-)
No more selling our better players just to be able to add to the squad - and no more being unable to afford a decent-sized squad of first-team options.

why has a serial cheat, a serial biter, a serial disgrace to his club ever be ALLOWED HIS DREAM MOVE TO BARCA. really the fa, fifa really going to let this thug play out his dream! right my kids love watchin efc barca and real mad, now they can't watch barca because the 2 things I hate more thatn anythin is blantant liers and bullys.

suarez is both blantant cheat (lier) and assaults players
not to mention racisum

ano not efc related but winds me up that a bag and he is a bag gets to play at highest level because he BIT A PLAYER

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - erm are you sure you have ever watched Real Madrid or Barca play football before? He fits in perfectly in their style of football, all they do is dive and play act! If you know anything about Spain, you would know they have a major problem with racism, so they never got why people were upset over his incident with Evra anyway.}

Just be thankful he's gone and won't be playing against us in the Premier League next season.
Sadly - but inevitably - it seems that every player, manager and team in the modern game (and throughout the history of the game I reckon) uses all means (fair and foul unfortunately) to gain an advantage - be it diving, other gamesmanship, managers' mind-games, holding at corner-kicks, and even claiming dodgy offsides and throw-ins. It's just a question of how far they go and - much more importantly imho - how strong the referees are in penalising these fouls and unsporting behaviours and how tough the authorities (FIFA, UEFA, FA, etc.) are about investigating and punishing these antics.
For example, once a referee starts giving penalty-kicks and yellow or red cards every time there's blatant holding (sometimes a full-on bear-hug rather than just a sly shirt-tug) at a corner-kick, then I'm sure we'll soon see that blatant cheating eliminated from the game - apart from a few defenders who'll no doubt still risk it when the referee is weak.

still rumous that we are trying to sing rodwell. we will not sign him because like in my last post he is not good enough, when he was with us he had half a good season he had potential that is it potential, he has more or less missed 2 seasons through injury ( which he is prone to ) and has not progressed at all.

one reply said I ovs don't go goodison because he is class and for 5 mill is a steal. sry no I know he came through but he is NOT class, he is class at being injured.

someone else said he will be our captain. am sry but he won't for 2 reasons.

1 he will be injured
2 we have and will have more influential players

sick of rodwell rumours

rant over

ps if you think rodwell is the kinda player who will improve efc have a word with your self

hahah

sry to sound blunt

I think that IF, and it's a huge if, Rodwell could stay fit, he still has the potential to be a good defensive midfielder alongside McCarthy, or a good centre back alongside Stones. Aside from the obvious injury problems, there's a problem with him in that nobody knows his best position. He was adamant he was a centre back, but I've hardly ever seen a centre back skip past a couple of Manchester United players and score the way he did a few years ago. Moyes played him as a defensive and attacking midfielder. I would take him for about £3m as a slight risk, although now we have signed Besic I could only see him as a back up centre back. Either way I trust Martinez!

Agree0 Disagree0

If RM believes that Rodwell could do a job for the team - and I believe it's all speculation at the moment rather than anything said on the record by RM or anyone at the club - then, with all due respect to your right to express an option, I'd rather accept his knowledge and understanding of the game and his assessment of a player's qualities than that of any fan - even the most impassioned.
My own view: I reckon there are other players above Rodwell in RM's wish list and I also reckon there are other clubs who would be prepared to outbid and outpay what most clubs would offer for the player. Besides, if every one of our former "promising" players had actually reached their expected potential, then they would all have been plying their trade at the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, etc.
If they'd reached their potential and we'd managed to keep the best of them, then we'd probably have had a world-beating team of stellar superstars ourselves rather than a team pretty much performing above what the club's financial level (i.e. commercial income, wage bill, transfer funds, etc.) should imho actually be able to deliver.

Besic has signed. will be announced tomorrow as I suggested last night. great young signing for a small fee. well in Bobby. shades of Tiny Tim all over again - well let's hope so anyway. I've now been told tonight that Lukaku deal to Everton is 90% done but may take around another week or two to complete after Everton started formal discussions with Chelski over a 20 million pound deal! 1 thing for sure, when Lukaku is good he's damn good, just needs a little more consistency, but I'm sure under Bobby's teniorship he will become a great & will become 2 or 3 times worth more in value meaning he is a great financial investment & asset in the future! Exciting times. would like to see Perisic, goalkeeper Navas, Cerci or Tello & Curtis Davies next! :D

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Guess job but 90%.

Galloway.
Barry.
Besic.
Clevery.
Ziyech or Swedish winger Bahoui (sorry spelling)
Traore.
Lukaku.

These 7 are real target. Hope can bring them all.
