Everton U18 v Brighton u18 is live now on YouTube 20 minutes played and 2 nil up.

Playing some very good football, Simms scored his 28th goal of the season, to make it 2 nil.

I'd have Simms given a run out for our 1st team.

13 Feb 2019 00:54:53
Not just a goal scorer he holds the ball up well and some nice layoffs, certainly one to watch out for along with Hornby for the u23s.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Feb 2019 01:12:32
Simms got called up to the u23s for a game scoring on his debut, he has gone back in the u18 team, but will not be surprised if he starts for the u23s next season.

Seems we got him from the Man City youth team last season, certainly worth a run out, seems better than Calvert Lewin at hold up play, taking players on, and scoring goals, along with Hornby, we seem to have 2 decent strikers, just a case of giving them a go, Rashford got his chance and look at him now, so why not these two.

Certainly better than our current strikers in the first team.

13 Feb 2019 06:45:08
why the rush, let the lad develop in the 18s this year 23s next year or maybe a loan in lower leagues, why the rush to play him, let him have a couple of bad games and be destroyed by our toxic fanbase? let the lad grow and give him time.

Agree4 Disagree0

13 Feb 2019 13:57:51
Not a case of rush, we are struggling with our strikers, why not give the guys a cameo role or two, why pay out top whack for a striker, if you already have the potential here.

Give the lads experience, we seem to have done alright letting a young joe Royle and acolin Harvey a run out in their teens.

13 Feb 2019 16:55:41
You’d be quick enough to slate him if he had a game and didn’t perform. Everton fans are ridiculous for scrutinising players.

Agree2 Disagree0

13 Feb 2019 17:41:09
Whether Barkley, Stones, Davies or Kenny, I can say hand on heart I have never slated any of those players, I hear where you are coming from from certain fans, but my opinion is, if they are good enough, give them a chance, rather than wrapping them in cotton wool and loaning out, season after season, then offloading them.

Brands is talking about a player he would have tomorrow off PSV, the lad is 16 years old and already playing in the first team.

They will learn so much more playing alongside experienced players, the likes of Simms, Hornby, Gordon and Feeney could follow in the footsteps of Kenny and Davies.

It’s all about giving these youngsters a chance.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Feb 2019 20:12:45
If you’re good enough, you’re old enough.

Saying that, one or two bad performances and the boo boys would anihalate a young player, setting him back years.

Putting the manager issue to one side for the moment. Has anyone thought that maybe the main proble we have is with the players themselves.
I don't just mean the first team either, but all the other players we have who are still either attached to the club, and are out on loan, and those just sitting on there back sides taking a wage.
It can't help team unity having these players hanging around the club, returning from loans etc.
So will the biggest challenge this summer be getting these players out of the club?
Thus allowing the manager to bring in and work with the squad he wants.
Just a thought.

There's: Ashley Williams, Kevin Miraiias, Oumar Niasse, Muhamed Besic, Morgan Schneiderlin, Cuzco Martina, Sandro Ramirez, Yannick Bolasie, Nikola Vlasic, Luke Garbutt and probably one or two I have missed.

Agree2 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 19:04:20
Definitely. This summer will hopefully see plenty of departures, especially to aid player recruitment. There have been too many poor purchases from the previous DoF that just aren’t good enough to make us better. Some have already gone but others are still here.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - bloody loads of them ace as woburn has just pointed out..

12 Feb 2019 19:15:39
To get them we paid over the top then there is wages and the same for Managers. To get the players out I reckon we will have to take a hit. What a mess.

Agree2 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 19:18:28
It's no coincidence that under Martinez we scored but let loads in. Under Koeman eventually we conceded loads and scored a couple. Under Allardyce we conceded a fair few and scored very few.
There is one common denominator, the players. Yes we have bought new ones but we still have a backbone of old managers players and still no striker.
You have to question whether Keane, Siggy, Coleman (since the injury) Walcott, Tosun and DCL would get in at Leicester, Wolves or Arsenal, because if were aiming for top 6 or 7 we need players who would.
I'm not sure many if any would.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 20:32:21
Who at the club allowed so many players to be bought? we seem to have a lot of players on the books and the squad is still not balanced FM is here for the business side of things so who else at the club let all these players in? Wonder if any of the eds could shine a bit of light . Not looking to put the blame on just one person but how can such a huge mistake have been made.

The blame lies squarely with Walsh and therefore indirectly with the Board for appointing a scout as a DoF. Absolute madness that appointment with consequences that will take years to rectify.

Of the players Woburn listed Vlasic is the only one I would consider keeping (and I really mean consider) , the rest need to be offloaded sharpish. The challenge will be why would they leave when nobody else will pay them anywhere near what we are, so we're likely to be stuck with the majority until the end of their contracts.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Feb 2019 13:27:46
They wanted Walsh but the only way he would come was as DoF, as you say it was a huge error. We can only guess but whoever it is giving advice to Mr Moshri has a lot to answer for. It has been error after error, as an article I read says we have steadily become worse instead of progressing. I would not hesitate to suggest that in terms of football progression is behind where it was when Moyes left.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Walsh was not appointed on the advice of the same person who has been advising Mr Moshiri.}

Mikel Arteta anyone? He knows the club like Solskjaer knows Man U.

12 Feb 2019 16:32:06
I would like to see him but with an experienced person with him, just don't know who.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 18:00:30
Not for me. Still don’t buy this “because he works with Pep he will be really good”. I thought that of Colin Harvey when he worked with Howard and that didn’t work.
I think if we do decide to change our manager then we need someone with a strong CV and a winning mentality. Who would that be? I have no idea, just glad it’s not my job to pick him or maybe her?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a she would be good woburn, then all our players could do their hair, nails and make up together..

12 Feb 2019 18:12:54
Solskjaer is a puppet, Ferguson is in charge, big gamble Arteta, that we can not take.

A Liverpool fan here in peace. I see a lot of blues crying for Moyes back . The question I ask is why? He done well at Everton without setting the World on fire. He has failed at every club since. Would a Liverpool supporter take Benitez back? Not in a million years is the answer.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

12 Feb 2019 15:07:46
I don't want him back but I am sure Kenwright would have him back. Whoever we get has to be the right one this time and he should be in it for the long haul.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 16:25:26
Sadly Kenright has no say anymore, he has more knowledge of how to run a football club in his lttle finger than Moshiri will ever have.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 18:02:40
Don’t want Moyes, don’t want Moyes, do not want Moyes.
Will never ever want Moyes.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i wrote that song..

12 Feb 2019 18:05:43
Rudder I think the majority think Moyes would be a backwards step and not want him back. There are a few fans on here singing Benitez praises I personally wouldn't want him but would be interested to know what a fan of a club he has coached thinks about him.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 18:25:17
Kenright loves Moyes, big no, we want a winner not someone who has been sacked? is it 3 or 4 now?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - 4 mate..

12 Feb 2019 19:00:04
It is Mr Kenwright that needs to take a backseat. Give him a non-executive honourary position for life.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 19:42:56
A few are expecting the Moyes of 8 seasons ago, time has moved on since then, no doubting he got the players fit and had any opponents fearful of coming to Goodison Park, since Moyes, the fear factor has gone on visiting Goodison.

We need to bring someone in to bring our identity back, sadly though too many players here with a could not give a toss attitude.

We need to get rid of Kenwright, Ferguson and the other hangers on at the club, including quite a few of the first team and squad, whoever is advising Moshi on transfers and running of the club previously needs removing as well.

Putting Brands in charge of the transfers and the club, is a positive step in the right direction.

more needs to be done before we see a recovery.

So in regards to Moyes, Mourinho, Benetez or even Conte, very little will change until we sort out the players, certain people at the club gone who are stealing a living.

Like I say, removing Kenwright and Ferguson would be a start.

12 Feb 2019 23:06:34
Kenright is a sick man and does not make the decisions, so he is irrevilent.

Robbie Savage weighing in, says Silva needs 3 or 4 transfer Windows. I like Robbie met the bloke nice chap but he is wrong on this. 3 or 4 transfer windows are good if the belief is there that Silva can improve us. Quite frankly I don't trust him, I truly fear that should he be here another Season he will take us down.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

12 Feb 2019 14:43:11
Brands has come out and backed him so we need to get used to him because he's staying.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 15:00:51
I like Brands and in every other instance I would bow to greater knowledge. Has Silva put something in the boards drinks, because I fail to see the reasoning.

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Feb 2019 17:42:11
I also agree with Robbie if Silva is to improve us then I think it would take at least 3-4 transfer windows to get this mess sorted.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it might take more windows than the palm house sa..

12 Feb 2019 19:24:17
Well he's only had one window and if brands isn't interested in signing anyone in January windows then Silva is here for 4 years.

12 Feb 2019 23:07:24
Three or four windows under Silva and we will be in the championship.
