Apparently gerard pique has put stones in his world top XI. Whilst that is a big stretch it shows the reputation he is building. Also may be an indication of how hard it's going to be to keep him.

And still Roy Hodgson will play Cahill and Smalling ahead of him for England. John is already the best centre half in the country and already up there as one of the best in football atm. Keeping him is easy as he is contracted to us and he can not just walk away our club have to sanction a sale, so until he is a free agent the talk about losing him is premature. He is progressing at Everton and is still being noticed by top European teams which is a compliment to the lad but also to us as a club for nurturing his talent.

Bluegray, Hodgson is a dinosaur mate, he will be gone within 12 months, how he keeps playing those first is shocking, Smalling has 5 decent games in 3 years and is now 1st choice CB for England.

Charlie Austin will be sold for £8 million in Jan, some club will get lucky here, swap for Kone anyone lol.

Wouldn't swap Kone but I'd surely give £8m if its in the kitty.

Offer 8m but chuck in Howard, Osman, McGeady and Pienaar anyway.

Wouldn't dare let Osman go yet.

Osman is past it mate, Swan I agree, LOL.

It's a squad stig and swan. Not just 11 players we need. Could be damn glad of him at some stage this season.

Agree1 Disagree1

11 Nov 2015 20:39:55
Swan it's ok getting rid of players as long as you have some to replace them they cost money something we don't have in abundance.

Agree11 Disagree1

11 Nov 2015 21:45:34
When will we need him tbf? Gibson, Barry, Besic, Barkley, McCarthy, Cleverley. Where does Osman fit in cept takkng up wages for barely making the bench.

Agree2 Disagree10

11 Nov 2015 22:38:59
Osman will not only fit in if there is injuries to players in midfield. He could do as good a job as some of the players you mentioned.

We need a squad. He is a fabulous squad member who has been brilliant for Everton his whole career. If any of the current players give half as much effort as Osman has done we'll do just fine.

He has a lot of appearance's for Everton and is a very valuable player to bring into the team. Huge contribution to give should Martinez utilise Osman's experience. People were writing Barry off at the beginning of the season.

Now people are praising him because he's playing well. Who's to say Osman won't play well if he is used? Which could very well happen. Anything possible between now and May.

12 Nov 2015 04:44:56
But Barry is a regular, unless 5 of our midfielders get injure he is not needed. Don't need that much depth, have Ledson or Grant there instead, he's 34 and is eating up a handsome wage sitting on the bench at best. Not needed anymore, we've moved on, everyone in his positions is not only better, but a lot better.

Agree1 Disagree11

12 Nov 2015 08:53:11
We all know Barry is a regular. Point is plenty of people said he was past it. He proved them wrong this season. If Osman is given the chance he could very well prove people wrong too.

I think Osman deserves better than to be shipped out at the end of a brilliant career at this fantastic club. We don't treat players like that generally so why treat Osman like that. Doesn't he have the record for premiership appearances for Everton. Played in every game under Martinez in his first season.

He deserves to finish his career with dignity at Everton. The least he deserves after devoting his whole career to Everton. Not many players come through the youth system at a club and finish there career at the same club.

Osman is a true Evertonian and is a dying breed that doesn't look for a transfer or milk a club for better pay.

I agree osman is probably finished as a player but why not give him a player/coach role. As much as it pains to say, the reds where very successful with the boot room. Ex-players becoming coaches and keeping the club philosophy. When Bobby does go, we could have Duncan, osman, Hibbert, Barry, etc all ex players in prime position to take over.

12 Nov 2015 13:32:39
Played in every game under Martinez in his first season yes now look. We've got much better players than him, Besic is much more talented in every way, Cleverley is like an Osman replica, except younger and not as slow as a turtle or as weak as a mouse. I just don't understand doing favours for players, he should retire and become a coach or whatever. Same with Hibbert, none of them are going to play unless the near impossible happens and half our squad gets injured. Should Utd have kept Ferdinand on over 100k a week because he's been there ages even though he would never play? . And you do know Osman is a Liverpool fan don't you? .

Agree1 Disagree4

12 Nov 2015 14:06:53
Wouldn't be doing him a favour he'd be doing us a favour. Its a squad. Osman can play in 5 different positions. He will suit some games this season. Its not all about playing your best players.

No doubt Martinez will adjust the team to a particular game plan and also adjust the team to adapt to the different opposition Everton will be playing. Osman played his whole life for Everton. Does he really prefer the Reds today after spending his whole career at Goodison.

I'd love to see his answer to that question if he was ever asked it in an interview. Ferdinand retired when he was beat. There is still life in Osman yet. Maybe even Pienaar. If we were in Europe we would be damn glad of both.

Martinez is aiming for Europe. Therefore he needs at least 20 players being as competitive as possible.

Look at Pique for Barcelona. Not so long ago he was dropped from the team and almost even left the club. He got a good kick up the a*se and then got player of the year last Monday night.

I can think of some players on the Everton team that it would be no harm dropping. Give them the kick they need rather than taking there positions for granted. That's when Osman and Pienaar and the likes would come in handy.

For the greater good of the team and Everton F. C.

I don't see how paying him about 40k a week to sit on his arse is doing us a favour, I really don't.

Agree2 Disagree5

12 Nov 2015 21:54:16
At least he is sitting on his arse on the bench. McGeady, Pienaar and Hibbert can't even get on the bench. How much wages is that costing every week? Gibson got wages for years for trying to get over injuries. Also Kone, unfortunately that's the reality of running a football club.

Wouldn't be much spare money floating around then, would there? That might explain why the club are not big spenders and can't invest in the stadium. Money doesn't grow on trees and we have no mega rich youngish billionaire looking to pass the time by playing around with a Premiership football team.

Agree1 Disagree1

13 Nov 2015 12:33:31
We need a billionaire, since we don't have one we can't afford to allow deadwood like Osman, McGeady, Hibbo and Pienaar (who is injured so can't make the bench, don't really see why you mentioned him) to sit on their bums collecting a big fat wage every week for doing nothing. Get them out and have one of our many talented young players take up their places.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2015 13:33:01
Hibbert is on the injury list. Don't see Pienaar on it. God different generations have different ways of treating players. As soon as they hit 30 they are finished. Not so, no doubt if Kone was still injured you'd have him on your deadwood list.

Thank god he's proving plenty of doubters wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2015 14:08:12
Well that's rubbish, Jagielka, Barry and Baines are not finished. I was a fan of Kone before he got injured 2 years ago, I would sell him if he was still injured, but he's not, he's creating and scoring goals. Osman is not, completely different circumstances, Pienaar is injured, played 45 mins for under 21s recently that is it, I believe Martinez saying someone is injured (or has been all season, watch his press conference s) over an injury list. I would like to know why you think paying someone 40k a week to do nothing is great for the club, same with McGeady, we don't need them as we have more than enough cover out wide and in the middle and both are god awful.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2015 18:27:04
Look at the official injury list on Everton F. C. website. Pienaar is not on it. That's good enough for me that he isn't injured. Interestingly I seen recently the top 10 most fouled players in the premiership. Guess who is in the top 10.

Pienaar and Osman. No wonder the two of them are suffering now. Pienaar used to get an awful doing at times. Osman and Pienaar may surprise you this season yet Swan. God knows a lot of people had Barry retired before he started this season. Don't see many saying that now.

No doubt his next bad game he'll be getting plenty of flack and comments about him being past it. I never said its good paying someone to do nothing. No one is doing nothing. What I did say is that's the reality of running a football club.

They'll prob all be gone by the end of the season anyway. Unless they get a chance and impress. Could see Martinez giving a one year contract if we get into Europe and don't sign any players. You can never have enough cover for any position.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2015 19:06:51
You can when their wages could be given to actual quality, like a boss Goalkeeper or number 10. They're in the top 10 because Pienaar dives like crazy and Osman gets blown over by the wind.

I'm a big Gareth Barry fan so if he has a bad game vs Villa it doesn't change anything for me. He's still quality. I've been saying get rid of Osman for ages, so if he does have a good game, again, doesn't change anything for me. Was Baines on this injury list? .

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2015 19:23:54
Looks like you have your favourites too Swan. No changing your mind on players. That's your opinion and your totally entitled to it and to voice it.

So Pienaar and Osman were pulling the wool over the referee's eyes for over 10 years. Don't care how much Pienaar dived or Osman fell over wouldn't deviate the fouling statistic much.

Its my opinion that they done more than there fair share for Everton.

Yes Baines is on the injury list. Before you say it Swan I'm aware he has and is playing for U21's. He'll be taken off the list shortly. I can't see why if Pienaar was injured they wouldn't have him on the list.

Incidentally Baines is on the top 10 most fouled player in the premiership. Number 6.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2015 19:30:15
He hasn't been playing for the under 21s. Behind doors friendlies with the first team. So an injured player (according to Martinez, he might be lying. for whatever reason) is not on the injury list but a fully fit player is on it. When was this list updated? 2012?.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Nov 2015 19:57:59
It was updated about 10 days ago Swan. Jags is up on it. Baines is awhile off fully fit Swan. That's why he's been played in them games.

Pienaar was up on it and was taken off it. I think it would be fair to say he's in a similar situation as Baines. Both near a return soon.

First team? So how many first team regulars were playing in these friendlies? Can't see Martinez risking injuring our best players for a friendly. So its more or less an U21 match or second team. Whatever you want to call it.

Martinez would look like some tool if Lukaku, Stones or anyone for that matter got injured for the rest of the season in a friendly.
