A very good first season for RM at Everton. We've finished higher than last season, earned more points, and won more matches. A handful of disappointments along the way, but far outweighed surely by numerous good performances and good results. The transfer dealings - in and out - have been pretty darn good. The football we played has been more expansive, progressive and entertaining while we've not suffered defensively. Young players - Barkley and Stones - have been given a genuine chance to impress. The work-in-progress has started very nicely and the future looks promising. Now we need a good transfer window, more of the younger players to come through, the European challenge to be met, and another Premier League season competing for the top-four places. Does anyone still believe that RM was a bad choice for Everton manager?
He's the right one, he's the bright one, he's Martinez!

Had we beaten city, our good friends across the park would now have won the premiership. I can only speak personally, but I would have taken the 3 points and walked the full length of the east lankes rd, over broken glass and deliverd them gift rapped. I REALLY could not stand another god knows how many years of smug arrogance, "supporters" with a quite unbelievable view of entitlement. So MR M. Tyler I plead guilty as charged.

I don't understand what's been so bad about our season for it to be worth losing to City? Back in the CL, two points off the title, finishing above big spending Chelsea and Mourinho - it's all smiles from our camp mate :-)

Congrats on a great season to you guys too, Martinez has proved very early on to be a top class manager and an excellent move on Everton's part. Hope to see you in the CL next season

Cheers

{Ed025's Note - nice sentiment that super, you have had a great season for me as well..

I'm with JCW - I loved those city goals despite being an everton season ticket holder - we had nothing on that game as we could not go lower than 5th and arsenal were not going to lose their last 2 games

So it's fantastic that we helped LFC lose the league - you only need to look at Gerrards manically happy face when he scores at goodison to know how much he likes sticking it to everton - so it's nice to give him some back and his mega-blooper was absolutely priceless - and will put a smile on my face every time I think of it for the rest of my life :)

I'm also with JCW and Latchfordlad. Those 3 points that Man City took from us at Goodison effectively gave them the title and prevented the red rubbish from succeeding. 5th place had already been secured and 4th was never realistic after the Palace and Southampton defeats.
I would be happy to have to do the same next season if it prevented THEM from lauding it over us at every opportunity. Job well done.

I would have rather taken the points well one to be exact against MC I personally don't like seeing us loose even if it means RS taking the title! :) a draw would have been win-win and we nearly pulled it off.

Everton FC. Well done lads. Fantastic season. Into Europe. Biggest points haul. Classy football. Great young squad. Terrific Manager. On the Rise. Let the money acquire the additional resources we need to develope further. Can't wait for next season.

As much as I like Lukaku, I would prefer the £25m being quoted for him to be spent on 3 players.

Batshuayi aged 20 leige £7m (release clause)
Drnic aged 21 nurnberg £3.5m (relegation clause)
Firminho aged 22 Hoffenheim £14m

their wages, will probably just total over Lukaku's too
with traore on loan, kone back we will have a blend of experience and youth upfront. It could be the way forward

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Drmic is going to Leverkusen

Agree0 Disagree0

Isn't Firmino a CaM?

Agree0 Disagree0

Drnic was ment to be gunners bound

Yeh firmino cam who cost about 30 mil

With regards to the reported 80mil we're receiving for 5th place and, in my opinion, us needing CB, DM, AM, LM and 2 forwards, I think wages rather than fees may be the major concern.
Would love to see Barry join but he must surely be on +80k p/w, and other targets connected with us such as Mangala, Kaboul, Gomis, Matuidi, Caulker, Munain, Scott Sinclair, Milner etc must be on similar at least.
Can see Barry working something out, with Del signing for another year, Diame more than likely to sign if we bid 3mil, Bony a possible expensive gamble at around +15mil and would love see RM use his connections to get a couple more gems from abroad to spice things up, esp up top where we could potentially have no cf, with Luk and Traore likely to be leaving as well as Vellios.

My realistic wish list -
Caulker = 10mil
Parker = 500k
Barry = free
Milner = 8-12mill
Piazon = Loan
Del = loan
Batshuayi = 10-14mill
Lukaku = loan

Thoughts?

Caulker-not a fan but been relegated so will cost a lot less than 10m, parker-he runs and runs and yep that's it, the definition of average or even below average, barry-deffo get, milner-terrible and for 8-12m? i'd rather lick lettuce for a living than pay that for again, crap, piazon-good payer but don't need him, deulofeu-deffo, batman-will cost 7m and i'd get him, lukaku-no chance of getting him on loan again and we can't get two players on loan from one team (piazon from chelsea too), there's my thoughts

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently if we get barry we have to give city 2.5 million as that would be his loan fee acording to a few sites

Agree0 Disagree0

Once Barry is out of contract at the end of June then nothing needs to be paid to City

Agree0 Disagree0

Everybody seems to be quoting Bony at 15m or 16m, surely Swansea will want 20m+ maybe closer to 25m. Would love to get Bony but at around 25m thinks he will be out of our price range. Thoughts Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im thinking £20m dero, which will be a massive chunk of our budget, any more and i think we can forget it mate..
