Ed do you feel we will spend big on a striker mate as we are in desperate need of a quality one.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - your dead right we do stef, and yes, if the right player becomes available we do have a decent war chest to buy mate..

What's a decent war chest?. considering debuchy £10M and mccormack £11M?. I would think a minimum of £40M? Anyone agree?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - not far away there preki mate..

Muhamed Besic set to complete transfer to Everton for £4m in the next 24/48 hours. what's your thoughts Ed? Looked half decent at the world cup.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - he did look ok stevie, but i have not seen much of him before that mate...so its hard to tell..

11 Jul 2014 13:14:30
Just a question really Ed - what young guns are we expecting to make more of an impact this coming season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i dont follow the youngsters that much Mc, but i would like to see mcaleny, green and dufus pushing for a place mate..

11 Jul 2014 23:36:38
George green is the one I want to see break though, the boy has lots of potential but he needs to knuckle down as boby has said he is a bit of a free spirit.

Was just having a chat with a Liverpool fan. when I told him that they are the feeder club he wasn't too happy. That's all they are now. Can't hold on to any of their big stars when the big boys come knocking

I'm not surprised. they don't accept the reality of mediocrity. that's the fun bit I think. they've been a one man band for ten years. sorry prob 8. they had a good torres an gerrard for two years. that's about it

Just heard a rumour that the Bosnian kid has just signed

There are countless rumours about players we have supposedly been linked with, suddenly getting interest from other clubs, such as Brahimi (who I really rate) potentially going to Spuds and Enner Valencia being courted by West spam, but who's to say we ever had interest anyway? Bobby's priority this transfer window was signing Barry, which is a clear indication that he wants some continuation and consistency of the form we had last season. He's also still showing interest in Lacina Traore, who may not have played, but surely is versed in the training regimens of the club. Bobby seems to rate him, so who knows what he can see in other players he might sign. Which are more than likely totally unexpected in some cases. Did anyone expect Barry to sign last season and to find him permanently signed this season? Who would have thought that would happen before last august? I have big doubts about the rumours about Rowell are realistic, as I don't think Martinez would want to take any steps backwards. Roddy had his chance and reached his peak under Moyes. I can see some potential truth in the reports about Cleverly, but only for the same reasons that it might be a journo fantasy, just because he's played for Martinez before. However, I do firmly believe that Bobby will go out of his way to sign Romelu Lukaku. He may not be my first choice, but I'm not Bob Martinez. Just imagine what Bob could turn such raw power and potential into! He's a beast and he's only going to get stronger.

I still think lukaku is the player we should be trying to sign, remy and bony are good but I think money wise there would not be too much difference in price both 20-25million, remy would cost probably 10m lukaku is young and I think he would improve on his 15 league goals which unless you buy an unknown and gamble your going to have to pay 20+ I know it's a fair chunk of budget but if we are to improve again someone has to get 20 league goals also remember lukaku is first to hit 15 since yakubu and before that I think it was kanchelskis which is unbelievable linear last person to hit over 20 he got 30 league goals so for this reason I would go for lukaku he his proven in this league and so much for him to prove on even did for west brom previous season, Ed what are your visions for next season realistic as well would you buy lukaku

Quote from Bobby regarding Rom:

'He always made it clear he wanted to to go to the World Cup and then make a decision'

'obviously it won't take to long from now'

Read into that what you will lads.

{Ed002's Note - There are discussions going on with another club already.}

Regional paper news- stoke trying to land Barcelona player bojan on loan! Stoke city loaning a Barcelona player?? Erm no! He would be a good option for us though :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Why would you even want him? He's average at best and his career hasn't just stalled it is going backwards.}

Gareth Barry wasn't exactly setting the world alight when we loaned him! Under Martinez bojan could get his career back on track!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's not about getting his career back on track it's the fact that he is nowhere near as good a player as people expected him to be. Roma, Milan and Ajax all had the option to make moves for him permanent and didn't, he's been passed around Europe like a scud-book in the jail. I have no idea why you would even compare him to Barry, it's like comparing Pink Floyd and One Direction.}

I disagree Ed, Pink Floyd are quite a good band.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wasn't comparing him to Barry ed if you read my comment again you will see I was saying that Barry wasn't having a great time before we loaned him, and look how he turned out! But like you I am entitled to my opinion and that was it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yeah, Barry's career was a total mess before Everton swooped for him.}

No sarcasm there whatsoever Ed ;) Premier league winner two seasons ago. Terrible career that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thankyou ed that's all I was really saying, maybe bojan would reach his potential! But it's neither here or there as we won't be interested! Was just an obversation as I saw stoke may be interested :-)

There once was a Fergie Fledgling,
His name was "Cleverley (Tom)",
And some Everton fans, in so many words, said,
Hey, stay out - stay out, stay out, hey stay out of town.

And we listened to the craic,
And the twaddle and the crap,
In a flurry of moans and frowns.

That poor little Fergie Fledgling,
Went on loan so near and far,
And at every place they said to his face,
You're way too good for here.

But we listened to the craic,
And the twaddle and the crap,
In the flurry of moans and frowns.

All thorough the wintertime, he wasn't right to play,
Hearing what others had to say,
Until one day he met someone,
"Why, you're the Swan - tell me it's just fun!"

"Yes, I am Swan - and a very fine Swan indeed"
"But you're just a Fergie Fledgling, all useless and overhyped"
"Can't pass, can't shoot, can't run - not worth anything I've typed"
And Tom looked at the Swan and said,
"Bo*****s to you, Swan!"

I've listened to the craic,
All the twaddle and the crap,
And I'm Roberto's ugly duckling, so quack!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol Sid :)

Great post Sid though what Swan will think is anyone's business. "You're a very fine Swan indeed". Apologies to the late Mike Read who was a poor singer before he became a poor comedian and poor actor!

While we're talking of famous personalities, congratulations to our ex captain Phil Neville for his appearance in the latest copy of Viz. He gives a half time team talk to billy the fish & friends. Unfortunately, he sends them all to sleep.

Would anyone like to "fess up" to having deliberately started a rumour - that has then gone viral - about an Everton transfer deal knowing full well that there wasn't a shred of genuine evidence to back it up?
Most rumours on this site are either repetitions of what's already been reported elsewhere or are of the "a mate of mine who works at" or "so-and-so's cousin's hairdresser" or "this bloke who's in-the-know" said variety. I reckon most of these stories - if there's a kernel of truth in them - have originally come from the interested parties (clubs, players, agents, etc.) feeding info to their favoured journos in the press - either to keep the journos onside for when there are bad news stories or to try and influence the deal.
The nearest we get to reading the truth straight from the horse's mouth is when players put something on Twitter - like those players who've left Everton this season - and that's after the event.
Am I being naive - or maybe I'm being cynical - or, most likely, am I just stating the bleeding obvious? In any case, I enjoy the speculation and the craic on this website. Thanks to the Eds for doing a grand job in helping us all by providing such entertaining fixes for our (harmless) habit. Once a blue, always a blue!

Any1 know out about Bakkali from PSV. He a you winger, tricky and fast.Teams from England and abroadlooked at him and just thought he would be worth a punt. My m8 works in Holland and says he is highly thought of. Just thought he could be a good signing who other teams don't think about
