How we lack a peter Reid. someone to drive the team forward. a midfield boss. all the others in that great midfield were different types. each with something to bring to the party. let's hope someone emerges from the several midfielders we have. tom Davies seems to be the one with most energy. but that is a big ask of someone so young over a season. but if we go to old Trafford and lose let it at least be with a fighting performance as we evolve as a team.

I never wanted martinez as manager, and for all his time here, I was never shy in expressing that opinion, but, dispite being as unhappy as anyone, about yesterdays perfomance, I think that we have appointed the right manager and that he will get it right.
However, there is one thing that must happen to give him a real chance, Bill Kenwright must step down from his hands on roll, who we have signed, have not signed, and when, has bills finger prints all over it, BILL, for the sake of the club you claim to love, it's time to step aside.

not sure how you can blame Bill Kenright that's just pure daft.

11 Sep 2017 05:29:14
So you don't think Koeman had any part in transfer activity this summer? Are you saying Koeman wanted different players at different times and Kenwright overruled him? Or just that players like Giroud or Costa would have come to Everton if Bill hadn't been involved? Is there any evidence for that?

11 Sep 2017 05:47:04
Same old blame game. is this bill kenwright, who brought moshiri in, who until end of transfer window closed had all Everton's touting him as the saviour of Everton. Amazing. does anyone remember agent Johnson, and transfer windows waiting for loan deals in dying minutes. a couple of games in and some have the nooses tied. the clue is in the name. 'supporter'

Sorry Bluey but I agree with JCW. I have said it for the last few seasons now (and got castigated for it) . Just look at all the dithering and delays over signings in the past and then this past window a huge floury initially but then no real idea for or a replacement ready once Lukaku went. Eccleston and Bill are either too cautious or/ and not realistic in their transfer offers and dealings, compared to the successful clubs.

Just seen on Everton website and the echo that niasse has scored 2 for u23s today against spurs and looked impressive through out according to reports perhaps we should niasse bring back in the match day squad for the game against Atalanta and possibly the utd match he couldn't be an worse than what was on show yesterday.

Need to give niasse a chance scored two more good goals today play him against Atalanta.

Niasse isn't in the europa league squad, he is in the league squad, maybe he should be given a chance, can't be any worse than the rubbish so far.

Niasse scores two and Lookman one, as U23 beat Spuds 4-1. Perhaps the lad does deserve a go. By the way Kenny set up the first, why isn't he getting a game?

Good line up that fluff, worth trying cannot be any worse that on show Saturday, one player we are missing apart from Lukaku is Barry, for all the flack he took games last season, he did a bloody job and not as fast still did better that this shite, Gana and Davies excluded.

I haven't a clue why everyone is losing their heads. We have been very poor in the last 2 games and for me in both instances Koeman's tactics and team selection has been the mahor failing. He will hopefully have learned lessons from this in time for the next 2 games.

To put things into perspective we have played the top 3 teams from last season in our last 3 games. I would have taken 4 points at this stage if you had asked me a month ago. The team will improve as the players gel and Koeman finds out what his best team actually is. We just need a little patience.

I agree Tommy I think Koeman was massively at fault with his tactics and hopefully he has learnt because we have a big week starting on Thursday surely he must of knew where he was going to play all these attacking players.

well there you go mr koeman the u23s v spurs was a good game, jonjo kenny for martina lookman and niasse in the starting 11,after that yesterday its a must, rooney klassan sandro and gylfi can all play midfield that can never happen again, sack the 2 holding midfielders especially at home put look an in an either mirrallas or vlasic, no point bringing dcl on with no service out wide for him bringing him on into that situation yesterday was a disgrace without getting the service into him, just shatter his confidence why don't you, this needs sorting quick play the right players in right positions and fast, its not rocket science.

Sick of hearing people say it takes time for players to bed in they are professional sportsman and should be able to do the job that they are being payed very good money and as for the we have had a hard start to the season and 4 or 5 points would have been a about right because we have played teams from the top 4 this type of thinking is what has this club from moving forward over the past 20 30 years . why is it OK to get a draw against a top 4 club why is 4 or 5 points from the first 4 games ok it's about time we set are sights higher and stop making excuses for the players and the management it's about time we started winning against these top clubs and stop being easily pleased.

Have to agree with you Skylark, we were dreadful yesterday but the only person I blame is Koeman. We essentially played with seven defenders and I lost count of the sideways or backward passes. The four players who are not defending are isolated and end up having to come back for the ball. I know I am not a manager but having watched football for 71 years I know good basic football strategy from bad and ours is worse than bad. I hope that Koeman has learned something from the Chelsea and Spurs games, give Kenny a chance and put Viasic and Lookman on the wings to give us more speed.

10 Sep 2017 15:23:22
I agree with the opening post, i'm not expecting us to win any major trophies in the near future but at home we should be performing much better than that, regardless of how long the squad has been together. I can understamd why Kev Mirallas is fruatrated, he one of the only players we have who can score a goal, yet he is never on the pitch, and, the few occasions he is given a game, he always seems to be made the scapegoat by Koeman for an abject display by the whole team. If we can get him in on one flank and Lookman/ Vlasic on the other, it will put some pace and goal threat on the pitch. I think Thursday the perfect opportunity to try this out, hope Ronnie thinks the same. I still think there is too much quality in fhe squad for this to continue. COYB.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Sep 2017 15:28:09
Yes I know that but we are talking about strategy and having a balanced side and having seven players who are essentially defenders is not going to beat sides like Chelsea and Spurs. we have the players who can beat the likes of Spurs, Koeman just has to play them.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Sep 2017 16:17:42
Agree with skylark and mike. It doesn't matter how much that starting line up has to gel it will never be effective as there is no balance. Full backs are both exposed with no one in front of them, also no width or pace going forward. The front 3 are completely isolated.

When I saw the fixtures for the start of this season I thought that after five games we would do well to average a point per game. So five points.
We are still on course to do this, though the likelihood is that we will end up with four. I know it's not the start we all wanted, but in reality it's where we are as a team at the moment.
We now have this team till January so no point moaning about lack of strikers or defenders. Support the team, hopefully have a strong showing in Europe, and stabalise the league form. Then perhaps in January we will get those players we all feel we need.
I would take a Euro cup and top ten in league this season if I was asked. Hasn't done the Mancs any harm.

Too all the impatient football fans out there either play fantasy football or support what koeman is doing, our club is changing for the better and I saw this response coming when our fixtures came out in a way I'm glad they were at the start and not coming after 4 or 5 games can you imagine if we won these games everyone would be saying we're going to win the league.
People slating Klassen need to get behind him, he will come good mark my word, a lot of the top European talent that has graced the premier league took few months sometimes longer to get to grips with it.

. BUT club have dropped a big clanger not replacing lukaku and Valencia. I appreciate bought Rooney and Sandro, but Rooney no longer a CF as far as I'm concerned. thought that 18 MTHS ago. yes fans should get behind team but now rk and his staff need to really think hard for next game. rather trying to fit players into the team because he bought them. I'm optimistic he'll sort it.

Mkhltarian struggled first season at the Mancs. Looks one of the best midfielders in the country now. Klassen will come good, the lad has quality. He just needs a little time to adapt.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 Sep 2017 16:21:24
I like Klassen but he's suited to a team who are on top (or at least more attacking minded) , playing around the box with his lovely one touch football. He doesn't fit into a team set up so defensively because those one touch passes and deft touches are useless in your own half.

From day one I never wanted Koeman as manager and now that we are being fed this garbage my gut instict about Koeman is starting to ring true.

He has spent a lot of money and actually made us worse - this idea of time for players to gel has passed - he has along with walsh have bought too many like minded players - is playing them out of position and to be honest the likes of Klassen ( 24mill ) sandro ( 5mill ) are not going to cut it - this is plain and simple.

he may moan about not getting a striker but he has plenty of time to put bids in for one - we will not score many goals this season and this is quite worrying.

His playing style is boring and ineffective - very similiar to Van gaal at United and look what happened there . at least with martinez we were attacking - people have to remember that under martinez we achieved our highest points in a season reached a couple of semis etc - Koeman has achieved nothing - Europe was through the back door ( due to other teams ) and he is making far too many excuses -

What happens when we finish 10th - are we all going to ask for his head - I for one will be!

Believable6 Unbelievable9

10 Sep 2017 12:27:11
Pathetic. Our whole squad has been revamped its going to take time to gel. Yes we were very poor against Chelsea and Tottenham but I'll be judging us in a couple of months time rather than a couple of games into the season.

10 Sep 2017 12:29:33
Your talking rubbish and jumping on a bandwagon that media print, if you were expecting all this to click right away then your a fool were 4 games into the new season and 3 of those games were against the top 3 teams, 2 of which were away with a team of 6/ 7 new players, once we have played 10 or 12 games you then have a right to be critical but until then get on with backing are team, if I remember rightly and Spurs fans will back me up on this it took them a bit of time to get things right.

Martinez? Seriously. We would have got relegated if we carried on with that clown in charge. By the way spending big doesn't guarantee anything, just ask that lot over the road. What we need is unity on and off the field.

It doesn't matter about the quality of opposition, it's the terrible performances that are concerning some people. Every team needs balance, we won't win many games without playing a striker or wingers.

Can I just ask a simple question where are our goals going to come from this season or at least until January.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

10 Sep 2017 11:38:21
Simple answer: either from the head, left or right foot of an Everton F. C. player. On occasion there may also be a deflection or ungoal scored.

NBTB I wasn't having a go I genuinely wanted to know where people think we're going to get our goals from I'm fully behind the team and the manager we are in transition and it will take time spurs went through the same development.

Fair enough billydean. Thank you for pointing that out. Imho Koeman wants a striker and will get one. We are stronger as a team. As you quite rightly point out it will take time for the team to gel. Who knows who will score the goals or where they will come from.

Look at Harry Kane! Who predicted when he started how good he would be. He came from nothing and is top class now.

Ronald Koeman has a very big week infront of him he has to work out how all these players fit in the same team and after witnessing that yesterday I'm not sure they all do imo martina, Williams, Klasson and Sandro shouldn't start games the last two will get the benefit of the doubt as both will take time to bed in as for Williams I can't defend him anymore he just isn't playing to an acceptable level and should be dropped as for Martina he can cross a ball but that's it his tackling and defensive play is terrible. We then come to the front 4 well looks like Lewin has to play up top at least he can win a header and offer a bit of pace but I blame Koeman for yesterday's hammering long balls up to players who have no chance against spurs back four was a joke he said it would take him 2 seasons well this is now his team and it's up to him to win games no more excuses as for it will take time it's been 22 years since we last won a cup that's enough time in my eyes without silverware so come on Koeman sort ya rubbish out you wanted these players so you must of had an idea how you were going to play.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

10 Sep 2017 09:11:07
When you have bought the amount of players we have then it will take more than 4 EPL games to get them to gel and play fluidly like a team. You and supporters like you sound like you've never supported a team in your life and are newcomers to football if you think that buying players, putting the team and give it a few games, we should win the league.

Last year everyone wanted Koeman out until Xmas when they started playing with cohesion and then went on one of our best runs in EPL history at home scoring more goals at home than anyone in Europe aside from Barcelona.

So calm down and get some perspective. Point out the faults and where we need to improve but don't giving ultimatums to manager and player without giving time to get these players adapted to our league and to each other.

Agree5 Disagree4

10 Sep 2017 11:03:34
To be fair he has had 4 EPL games and 4 Europa games, not to split hairs, however what I question is our actual tactics and style of play or should we say lack of it.
Sometimes I feel the selection is based on fitting in the new signings as opposed to actually playing a balanced side with players selected to play in their best positions.

Bluejohn I have supported Everton since the day I was born 38 years to be precise and not said once we should win the league but I expect our team to know how to play football yesterday we had over 100 million pounds worth of buys on the pitch and they looked like they didn't have a clue how to play together I still expect us to be up there but if MY club lose and lose like they did yesterday I will tell it how it is maybe you should take your blue tainted glasses off and do the same.
