Poor peeformance a couple of weeks ago won the game, fantastic performance today by everybody including subs and not counting the mistakes for vilas goals, and we drew :-( hopefuly same performance and a win next week, same in the cup then its away to man city! If we can be consistant with our performances over the next 2 games then we coud beat man city!

Hopefully we can build on todays performance and string a couple of good results together and then continue our marvellous run of results against city

Just a few points ed25..... Im a fan of Tim Cahill, but why start him upfront today ? How long was he on the pitch for and how many shots did he have ? How long was Vellios on the pitch and how many shots did he have ?
Also did anyone notice how better fellaini was without arteta ? Just as i predicted the other week when he went !

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Cahill was the best choice with the injuries we had and i think he played well, we should have saha and denis ready for the wigan game to give us more options.

Velios will get more and more football as the season goes on and he will develop into a class player

Agree2 Disagree0

Cahill set osman up for the first goal and it was his header from the corner that produced the penalty so i think cahill contributed a hell of alot, vellious did very well when he came on but bare in mind it was the last 10 minutes or so and villas defence were a bit tired mentally and phyiscally which helped velli get the space for his shots! Cahill did brilliantly! Would like to see.denis next week and maybe start with velli if no saha!

Agree1 Disagree2

No sorry lads, im not disputing cahill's contribution, he was great today, i just thought moyes could of maybe thrown Vellios in from the start.
The lad has been here for over a year now and everytime we see him he impresses, give him a chance !! Throw him in for a few games with the shortage of strikers we have, what have we got to lose ?

Agree1 Disagree0

Well if he Gets injured (which is likely) all we then have is the argie and cahill so it was a clever move i think and just to clear things up vellios joined in january

also annoyed but cant knock the team today, they were all great, creating enough chances to win the game twice(arteta who lol) i was impresed with vellios and drenthe when they came on and think we will be fine on each wing, coleman, barkley (right) billy, drenthe (left) and osman, guaye can play either side.
a few more games to settle in and we shoud be using vellios and denis as our main strikers with good experience quality in cahill and saha on the bench, if we take the game to teams like we did today we will be fine.

A positive performance today by the blues and with so many vital players coming back for us in the next couple of weeks, there is plenty of reason for optimism. Lets start with 3 points against wigan next saturday

It was a vast improvement on the blackburn game, we are going in the right direction. Top half finish again for the blues

Arrrghhh! So annoyed we didnt see that through! A couple of lapses in defence and we were punished! Petrovs goal was good though! But good performance, play like that every week and we will win alot more than we lose! Drenthe looked good and positive! Vellious looked decent very unlucky he didnt score! Baines! Awesome! Coleman fantastic! Everybody played really well (apart from 2 defensive cock ups) its another point on the board that 3 more than this time last season! Continue that performance against wigan and we will win! Liverpool :-) {Ed025's Note - i agree, it was a good performance...but we have got to cut out the silly mistakes..they are costing us points!..

Good interview by Martin Samuel with Bill Kenwright in today's Daily Mail. Kenwright very frank about the lack of decent offers and very funny about the protests to oust him... I personally think Bill K gets raw deal because he's not some stereotypical oligarch / sheikh / American that many fans seem to think (in badly written soap opera style) will pitch up and win us the Champions League. Think fans would be better served protesting about real local issues - unemployment etc. - than (in the midst of a crippling recession) demanding huge chunks of cash to ensure footballers can continue to buy silly clothes, silly cars and silly women.

Read the BK interview in the mail today. In my opinion nothing new, same sentimental lines about watching Dave Hickson ect ect in the 50's. He mentions that he has been working so hard to sell the club for 4yrs. How other members of staff have offered the resignations under the pressure. Elstone please give your resignation in.......

He then mentions about a group who offer to tie up the Asian market and show a presentation with players in a Burnley kit. BK then realises theyve been knocked back by Burnley and have come to Everton to try there luck.(Couldnt make it up..Could you).
What BK forgets for the past few yrs he tells we got a bit of investment to buy a player. He hasnt he just morgaged over an existing morgage. If he had come out at the end of the season and said listen we arent buying no one we need to trim the wage structure down, then I dont think the Blue Union would have exposed him.
As a result other teams have picked off players for fees that I believe have under cut the value.

David moyes has released a statement;

DAVID MOYES says angry Everton supporters should blame him for the departure of Mikel Arteta.

Goodison fans were already disillusioned at the lack of investment and protests are planned at today's home game with Aston Villa.

But Moyes insisted selling that Spaniard Arteta for £10million to Arsenal on deadline day was the right thing to do.

The Toffees chief said: "I make the decisions here, it wasn't the chairman telling me I have to sell.

"Mikel wanted to play in the Champions League, I told him last year i would have a team that would challenge the champions league and we never so I owed it to him to give him the opportunity."

Fans group Blue Union will march on Goodison today and have sent a letter to chairman Bill Kenwright complaining that Everton are stagnating.

Moyes added: "In the 10 years I've been here, we've finished in the top 10 seven out of 10 times.

"If people think that Everton should be doing much better than that, they need to be looking at things."

Cahill has scored six goals in 11 league games against Villa, hope that today he will add to that tally. COYB

Heitinga confirmed injured via his Twitter account, it may sound evil but I'm glad. At least Moyes can't play him in midfield where he's somewhat useless. COYB

Believable3 Unbelievable1

He is class at centre back and i think he will replace distan in time, but he clearly hasn't got the qualities to be a midfielder, apart from the competetive qualities

Ok it looks like the reds are gunna plow ahead with building a new ground. Do you think bill should try to strike a deal to share Stanley park?

Huyton realist

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I reckon if we had the financial backing in place, we could nick Stanley Park for ourselves, never mind share it. Liverpool have wasted years, their ground should be built by now but the people of Anfield are still stuck living in a crumbling sh*t hole. Nobody seems to consider them, they were promised regeneration but instead have lost 10's of millions in European grants and that is all LFC's fault!

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes but we ain't got the financial backing to nick it for ourselves. So would you share?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes i would share, and i know people will be annoyed to hear that " im not avin a red sit in my seat" and all that nonsense, the harsh reality is we should been on our way to kirby now (i would be my life if the kirby had gone through we would have investment by now). so imagine we shared, the council would fund a lot of it, it would be a huge complex which would generate more money, more corprate boxes which would leave us with more money to play with

Agree0 Disagree0

Sharing would be a step forward for us, it would sort out the ground issue and attract investment
