Looks like United have been getting tips on defending set pieces from Martinez.

Does anyone know what Blind's natural position is? His defense is terrible.

If Utd get champions league place and Newcastle get relegated it gives us more chance of getting Mourinho or Benitez as LVG will more likely stay on at Utd and Benitez will not manage in Championship. Clutching at straws I know but looking for any positives at the moment.

Wouldn't want mourinho at our club, got a feeling if he did come he would probably only be around for a year. This is a long term rebuilding project our players just aren't good enough. Total clearout Barr 1 or 2. Coyb.

I have to agree we need a complete rebuild and Mourinho has never had to build a club that is in a mess, same goes for De Boer and many of these guys. We need a manager that is here for the long term to build like a Moyes, there is no easy fix to the mess we our in.

Ed001 needs help with his rent. Can you help out with any small donations? Every little bit helps. Consider it giving a little bit back for the years of free use of the site. The original donation link was posted on the LFC page by Benny Baller, as Ed001 has too much pride to ask himself. If you look at the LFC banter pages you can get more of an idea about what's going on. He could do with far more help than the page suggests.

Its looking likely now that the 3 relegated teams will be Villa, Norwich and Newcastle.
What players do people think we could get to add / improve our own squad?

Villa- None
Norwich - Ruddy, N. Redmond
Newcastle - J. Colback, G. Wijnaldum, J. Shelvey, A. Townsend,

Nothing special there I know more squad players considering a few players like Hibbert, Osman, Mcgeady, Gibson may well finish.

What do others think is Bryan Oviedo's best position at Everton?
I don't think he can play as a right back.
I also have doubts about him paying as a left back.
I think he's most suited to a wide-left-midfield role, but there are others in the squad who are better there than him, so I reckon he's just a backup player in our squad.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - i think the same sid..

10 May 2016 18:27:15
Agree too. Squad player or not we have had no left side attacking balance all season and he's the best option and not afraid to have a shot.

Don't get why we've got so many right sided wingers and none for the left cleverly constantly drifts back in to centre mid and leave baines open at the back.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 May 2016 19:14:28
Best position would be as left midfield in front of Bainsey. May be wrong but I don't think the two of them have played together on that side. From when I first saw him, I thought he would be a replacement for peanuts. But obviously we are all wrong because Mr Motivator, Plan B, sees him (Oviedo) as a RB, played him there 3 times I think now and yet he (Martinez) does not see what the rest of us see.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2016 19:41:36
Left side midfield alright. People suggesting he'll go this summer can't see it. An unfortunate player who hasn't got going properly yet. He was playing fantastic stuff a couple of years ago before all the injuries.

Would be well established if he hadn't got injured. But if my aunty has 2 peanuts she'd be my uncle. He might make it yet. A valuable member of the squad imo. Still young too.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2016 19:54:13
Having players that can "do a job" in a variety of positions and team formations used to be a bonus years ago when squads were smaller. Utility players like Alan Harper played important roles in Everton's trophy-winning years in the 80s. These days, those sort of players are often exposed as square pegs in round holes. Within a larger squad, there should be adequate cover for each position. Also, by not trying younger players (preferring older players out of position instead) is a clear statement by RM that he doesn't think the youngsters are good enough. Only when injuries prevent senior players from being available does RM reluctantly select youngsters. Whatever way you cut it - senior players out of position or younger players not being selected - it shows another problem with RM's management.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - fair point sid..

10 May 2016 20:24:51
Oviedo was great at LB just before his leg break, at one point I thought he was playing that well I was quite happy to leave him there, might be in the past but showed what he's capable of.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 May 2016 23:12:01
I'm sure he was playing left midfield when he broke his leg wasn't he?

As for his best position, I think left back - in the dressing room.

Tick Tock means nothing mate am now convinced that as the Board have nothing to say (from Ed002's lips and he/ she does type a lot of commonsense) , that Martinez is going to be with us at the start of next season but hopefully the Board will not let it last two late once it starts going tits up and it will.

Another press conference coming up. I wonder how the press will approach it. I do feel sorry for Martinez as he will be asked the question yet again and he still has a board that have done nothing to support him. Regardless of what has been said behind closed doors he is still being put in very awkward positions by the club and he doesn't deserve that. I want him out but he doesn't deserve hostility he's just not very good at his job.

Also agree. Someone mentioned in a article the other week, staying behind after Bournemouth game to shout at Martinez and yell to leave the club, was just a form of bullying. I hope it doesn't happen, but have a feeling that if he does a lap round goodison with his wife and daughter, fans are still going to yell abuse.

10 May 2016 09:21:55
I hate to say it but I'm still split on martinez. He's a really nice guy and has given his all the last 3 years. He's lowered the average age of our squad and to be fair has recruited well in general.
I do still think he needs to go at the end of this season as it's not worked out for him the way I think he expected it to. I just hope he's given the chance to go with the dignity and respect he deserves after all he is just a person with family and children.
I don't like to see these protests as it lowers the respect we as a club have rightly gained over the years. Plus some of the abuse hurled at rm is way over the top.

Believable9 Unbelievable7

10 May 2016 12:16:46
I too do not agree with the protests when his family are there. There is not much credit in any of this on the Club either to be fair, all they had to do was come out and As a man I don't know him, as a Manager more specifically as Manager of our Club he is not up to it and about 80 percent even more of the supporters know it to. All of this Squad those he brought in (season 13/ 14) and those already here were good players who regularly had this Club in the top 7 or 8 for the past 11 years before Martinez arrival, so why the demise over the last two seasons! it has to be down to Martinez and the Staff he brought with him, the same Staff incidentally that had Wigan down in 16/ 17th before their relegation. The Premiership is the bread and butter of any Club the ambition being to finish as high as you can (win the thing or in Europe) , Cups are one off. Kenwright was blinded into hiring this fella on the basis of promising Champions League (when nothing in his CV showed he was capable) and the one off FA Cup win and while he (Kenwright) is still here Martinez is going nowhere and that will lead eventually to our relegation, the evidence is there for all to see, quite why our board cannot is beyond me.

Leicester City's summer transfer plans will focus on strong-minded players who work hard without the ball, says head of recruitment Steve Walsh. The club won the Premier League this season on a relatively small budget and with low possession statistics. Players will not be signed on ability alone.

I wonder if RM will take note of this one? In my view this is his big mistake.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

10 May 2016 08:24:50
That is Martinez main weakness. He likes to train mainly on the Ball and that is commendable but to get the best out of that training you have to be fit very fit in the Premiership case. Leicester are correct and in fact most of the top sides have that intensity in their training. My son at age 8 told me he wanted to play in midfield, first thing I did (much to my wifes horror) was buy him a pair of running trainers and we went out for little jogs, I have done the same with my Grand Son.

Agree1 Disagree1

10 May 2016 08:44:59
No doubt those type of players don't get much recognition. McCarthy fits that bill and for some strange reason gets stick. Some fans just love giving out about certain players.

McCarthy is a strong minded player who works his socks off without the ball. Pitty we haven't more of them players. I suspect Barry won't play as much next season and hopefully Besic stays injury free and gets a good run. McCarthy and Besic would be very good players who fit the bill together. They would cover more ground than McCarthy and Barry.

Even though Barry would be in my top 3 players this season he is very near the end now. McCarthy and Besic are very young and will improve with every season. Would love to see them still at the club in 2 - 3 years time. They'd be formidable combination with time imho.

Agree1 Disagree1

10 May 2016 09:20:42
Problem with J Mac as with so many of our players is the system we play. He has all the attributes you list and is really top class in that role. Problem is Martinez wants 60% possession so to have a player like J Mac is a waste of time as ball retention isn't his strong point.
The style Martinez wants to instill requires top top players but we don't and won't have them. Barcelona did it with Pep but not one of our players would get in to that squad. J Mac is like Kante but the team is not set up to highlight his abilities.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 May 2016 06:37:19
It is his insistence on working with the ball for at least 80 percent of the time that ultimately is our weakness. As someone pointed out in all 3 seasons with Martinez we have tailed off with a whimper and in all games we run out of steam.

Leicester are right first and foremost you have to work hard off the ball. What is the first thing we do/ did with our kids and Grand Kids when they say they want to play football and in particular when they want to play midfield?

Protest planned for the awards ceremony on Thursday. I was all for the one at Goodison last week, but won't there families be there? Regardless if the protest will be peaceful, or undoubtedly have the clubs best interest at heart, i think it might be a bit too far? I want Martinez gone, but seems a little embarrassing for the guy.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Looking at some of the candidates to replace Roberto next season and a lot of the names do not excite me with any optimism.
O'Neill - old school will probably be more solid and finish mid-table.

Howe - Young could be excited if had the money but could he step up to a big club with big egos and keep are star players? Top half finish

Pellegrini, villas-boas - not convinced of either of these two to be honest. Top half finish

Frank de boer, Koeman, bielsa, Garcia, Mazzarri, low - all a bit to much of a gamble for me but I confess I don't have the knowledge to judge all of them.?

Benitez, Mourinho - would change the direction of the club to aim higher, could persuade bigger players to stay and proven records. (Would Benitez come? He said he wasnt interested last time around) are we waiting to see what happens at Utd to see if we can get Jose? Top four challenge.

Moyes - would divide the fans and would need to win over a lot of supporters trust again. Would give us stability and challenge top 4.

Martinez - sorry to say it but I don't think it's an option he has lost the dressing room. A lot of players will leave in the summer and niasse looks like it was a poor signing. Relegation.

Saying all this if we had Ranieri take over last summer we would not be to optimistic and look what happened. So wait and see.!

Believable2 Unbelievable2

10 May 2016 06:43:40
I hope I am not right but the silence is ominous, if it is not announced today, I think the Club are gearing up to have Martinez remain and he has persuaded them his personality is strong enough. That being the case it will be a gross error in my view and once into next season it will be too late all the good Managers will be taken.
